Battle Against Deepsea Warrior Part 2

I don't own Digimon or Yu-Gi-Oh

"I knew a rookie like you couldn't keep up with our Deck Master dueling system." Gansley mocked Yami with a chuckle as his opponent nursed his injured arm from the previous attack.

"I'm a fast learner, and you haven't won your freedom from this place yet." Yami reminded him.

"Don't you threaten me you little whippersnapper. You're weak, I can see it in your eyes. You'll never make it in the dueling business, kid. So just give up and let me take control of your body, then I can finally escape from this virtual nightmare."

"Not if you lose. You talk a big game, but you have no monsters to defend you leaving you wide open to a direct attack. Obnoxious Celtic Guardian, attack his life-points now!" Yami shouted. His monster charged across the water towards Gansley and slashed him across the chest and his life-points fell to 2600.

"Not bad, Yugi." The member of the Big Five begrudgingly admitted.

"You claim to be a successful man of business, but you've allowed your competition to get the best of you." Yami said as his monster returned to his side after damaging Gansley.

"Actually, I led you to do exactly what I wanted you to do. Because you dealt more than 1000 points of battle damage to my life-points, I can special summon Ruklamba the Spirit King from my hand in Attack position." Gansley explained.

His new monster appeared on the field, it looked like a bipedal lizard with a mane of long dark hair, and it had 1000 Attack points and 2000 Defence points. "This monster is one of my more profitable investments, whenever I lose life-points, I can summon another Ruklamba to the field, thereby strengthening my workforce. Now, what was that you said about my success in business? I am still one step ahead of you with plenty of monsters still left." Gansley said.

"It's not how many monsters you have, it's how skilfully you use them that counts." Yami said.

"I've been in business a long time and I've always had a large labour force, that gave me the freedom to fire whomever I wanted because there was always another who could pick up the slack and that's how I duel, if one monster has to go, I have another one to take its place." Gansley said.

"That's just sad." Yami growled in disgust.

Meanwhile, watching the duel was Noah and he smirked as he sat in his chair. "I'm glad I hired you to do my dirty work Gansley. Now to check on the others." He said, looking at the other screens surrounding him showing the whereabouts of the others he had trapped in his world.

He saw Serenity and Joey walking along the shore of the lake, searching for the others, before seeing Daisuke exploring the mansion with Veemon at her side. "How does it feel being all alone in my world, just waiting to lose your minds." He cruelly said.

"Looks like Tea has run into my Hitotsu-Me Giants." He said, watching as the tribe of giants carried an unconscious Tea across the wasteland. "And those fools think they can escape." He chuckled, looking at Tristan and Duke who were chopping through the wall.

"Come on, just a bit more!" he heard Tristan encourage Duke.

Noah then looked at the screen showing Kaiba White-Veemon and Mokuba outside the orphanage they had discovered. "And the Kaiba brothers and their pathetic pet have found a ghost from their past."

"I don't like this place." White-Veemon said, grabbing Mokuba's hand to comfort the younger boy. "We should go now."

"This place is just a virtual illusion, it isn't real." Kaiba told his Digimon.

"Even so, I'll never forget our first day here. It was a nightmare. Why were we sent here anyway?" Mokuba asked his older brother.

"After our parents died, there was no one left to take care of us. So, we got dumped here until they could find another family to take us in." Kaiba answered.

"Welcome boys." A voice from behind said, they spun around and saw two men in suits standing beside a younger Kaiba and Mokuba.

"That's us! Somehow Noah was able to tap into our memories and replay events digitally from our past." Kaiba said.

"That's right. Now enjoy the trip down memory lane." Noah's voice echoed around them.

"He's toying with you." White-Veemon said with a frown, squeezing Mokuba's hand as he saw his younger self alone on the swing set.

"I remember now, the first day here, I spent the whole day on that swing. But how could Noah have known that? I was alone the whole time, the only one who saw me was Seto…and he was the only one who cared about me." Mokuba thought as they watched the younger Seto walk over to Mokuba before the memory transitioned to when the two were on a walk by the river.

"Okay, spill it, what's on your mind?"

"I miss mom and dad. I wish that they were here with us right now, it's not fair that they left us all alone." The younger Mokuba sniffled, rubbing tears from his eyes.

"Come on, no crying. Tears aren't going to help us now. There's only one way you and I are going to get through all of this, we've got to get tough. Emotions will only get in the way of our survival." The younger Seto said, placing his hand on his brother's shoulder.

"Tough?" Mokuba asked softly.

"That's right. Don't expect anyone else to help us from now on. You and I are on our own." His brother answered.

"I guess that was your idea of a pep talk…thanks, I guess." The real Mokuba said to his brother who remained silent as the memory shifted to show the younger brothers playing chess alone in a classroom.

"Sorry Moki, checkmate." The younger Seto said with a smile.

"Again?" the younger Mokuba asked softly before he brightly smiled. "And in just five moves this time! You're like the best chess player in the whole entire world."

"Well almost." The younger Seto said.

"Oh yeah, name one better who is better at chess than you?" the younger Mokuba said.

"You, if you just concentrated."

"Fine, let's play again."

"This is touching." White-Veemon said with a smile. "Though, why is Noah showing you your memories again?" he asked the brothers who shrugged, unable to think of an answer as the two brothers began another game of chess.

As the younger version of Seto made a move, the tv in the classroom switched to a news broadcast.

"And he did it once again folks, Gozaburo Kaiba has retained his title as the world chess champion. The corporate genius and six-time chess champion is a master strategist who has never lost a single match. He maintains his claim that there is not a single person alive who can defeat him. But make no mistake, this outspoken business tycoon has a heart of gold. He donated a portion of his winnings to a local orphanage; I assume he has made a lot of children very happy." The newsman said.

"That's the day that changed my life forever, the day I met my stepfather." Kaiba thought, clenching his fists.

The memory then shifted to show Gozaburo Kaiba arriving at the orphanage in a limousine. "It's him." Mokuba gasped in shock, watching as the man exited the vehicle.

"It's just a cheap projection. That's all. He's long gone." Kaiba told his brother with a scowl, watching as their stepfather walked past them.

"I don't want any of these urchins touching me. Let's just take a few pictures for the papers and I'll be on my way, time is money you know." Gozaburo told the head of the orphanage as the younger Kaiba brothers stepped out of the classroom they were in.

"That guy is our ticket out of here Moki, I'll make sure he takes us." Seto told Mokuba.

"But how? He's not here to adopt anyone." Mokuba said softly.

"Just follow my lead, bro." Seto told him softly. Eventually Gozaburo was heading back to his awaiting limo when the Kaiba brothers stepped in the way. "Good afternoon, Mr Kaiba."

"Hm, I suppose it is. Now move it kid, I don't have time for this."

"I propose a challenge. One I know you won't refuse." Seto said and Gozaburo raised an eyebrow.

"A challenge hm? Fine, what is it?"

"You against me in a game of chess. If I win, you adopt my younger brother and me, no questions asked." Seto told him and the man smirked.

"That's a good one." He said with a chuckle. "No one beats me at chess. And I've been playing it for years. I was a world champion when you were sucking your thumb, you're in over your head kid. What makes you think you have what it takes to beat me?"

"Because I never lose either. So, what do you say?" Seto asked the man.

"I'm a busy man. I have little time to be wasting playing games with a child." Gozaburo answered, making Seto narrow his eyes and the man raised an eyebrow. "But then again…" he hummed before looking at the man beside him. "Set us up in a quiet room. Now!" he demanded and the four walked into a nearby classroom.

"What made you so sure you'd defeat Gozaburo?" White-Veemon asked his partner.

"My desire to win that game was greater than his. I had nothing to lose and everything to gain. To him it was just a game." Kaiba answered with a small smirk as the memory shifted to show the chess game between Seto and Gozaburo. "I studied all his matches; I knew every move he was going to make. Victory was mine."

"Incredible." White-Veemon said, watching as the chess match ended with Seto's victory and Gozaburo having to adopt the brothers.

"That was the day I took charge of my future." Kaiba said.

"And it was also the day you stopped calling me Moki." Mokuba huffed softly.

"If it wasn't for me, we'd still be trapped in that rathole." His brother replied.

"But back then, you actually smiled at me. You actually cared." Mokuba said, walking to the door and slowly pulling it open.

"Mokuba, that's enough!" Kaiba said, making his brother pause. "I do still care about you. Don't you realise Noah is using these illusions to turn us against each other?"

Mokuba ignored him and opened the door and stepped through but realised the room had changed into a bottomless pit and as he fell, Kaiba and White-Veemon grabbed his hand. "Don't let go!"

"That's the idea!" White-Veemon shouted, he and his partner began to pull Mokuba back up slowly.

Meanwhile, at the duel between Gansley and Yami, it was now Gansley's turn. "Soon I'll take over your body and leave your mind trapped here." He told Yami, drawing his next card.

"You'll never get away with it, Gansley." Yami said. The member of the Big Five looked at the card he drew and smirked.

"I summon Yowie in attack mode." He said, his new monster appearing. It resembled a mix between a lizard and a six-legged insect, and it only had 500 Attack and Defence points. "And Yowie's effect forces you to skip your next draw phase." He told Yami. "And now I play the magic card, Premature Burial. By tributing 800 of my life-points I can resurrect one of my former monsters. So come forth, Ipiria."

The formerly destroyed monster appeared on the field beside Yowie and Ruklamba and Gansley smirked. "My workforce now exceeds your own, now you'll never be able to lay a hand on me." He taunted.

"I can't attack with Chimera again; he'll tribute two of his monsters to activate his Deck Master ability. And if I somehow manage to remove all his monsters and attack him directly, he'll bring out another Ruklamba." Yami thought.

"What's the holdup, have you finally realised I am unbeatable?" Gansley asked.

"You should know that a good strategy takes time." Yami replied.

"Stalling for time is a sign of weakness." Gansley said.

"That's pathetic." Yami said.

"No, what's pathetic is that furball you've chosen as your Deck Master. Kuriboh does nothing but spout gibberish." Kuriboh slumped and cooed sadly.

"Don't worry Kuriboh, I believe in you." Yami told his Deck Master.

"Then make your move!" Gansley demanded.

Elsewhere in the virtual world, back with Tristan and Duke, the two continued swinging the axes against the wall. "Swing harder man!" Tristan shouted, both swinging as hard as they could before the wall in front of them collapsed revealing the way out. "Alright!"

They walked through the hole and saw that they still were around a hundred feet off the ground with no way down. "We're still trapped, you idiot. We have no idea where we are."

"At least I got us out!" Tristan told him. "Now stop complaining and help me find…" he stopped when they both heard a familiar scream. "Serenity!"

They ran to the edge and saw Joey and Serenity running for their lives as a Mad Sword Beast duel monster was chasing after them. "Hold on Serenity, we're coming!" Duke shouted.

"That thing is gaining on them and fast." Tristan shouted before he jumped onto the ledge and then leapt off it and he landed on the Mad Sword Beast and covered its eyes with his hands. "Whoa easy, big guy!"

The duel monster stopped its charge and growled and tried to shake Tristan off. "Tristan, what the heck are you doing!?" Joey shouted in worry for his sister's friend.

"Be careful!" Serenity shouted before Duke grabbed her arm.

"Come on, let's go!" he said, pulling the girl off and Joey followed them while the duel monster ran towards the nearby lake with Tristan on its back.

"Where did they install the brakes on this thing!?" he shouted before the duel monster jumped into the water, a few moments later Tristan surfaced and swam to the shore. "I give that dive a perfect ten." As he climbed out of the water, he saw Duke trying to sweet talk Serenity, but the girl was having none of it and Joey kicked Duke in the shin hard making the male hop up and down in pain.

Back at the duel, Yami went to draw a card before he remembered the effect of Gansley's Yowie monster he summoned the previous turn. "If I attack with my Celtic Guardian, he'll use his Reflector Hole to bounce the attack back at me, but in order to use his Reflector Hole, he needs to tribute two monsters, weakening his defence. Here goes nothing." He thought.

"Obnoxious Celtic Guardian, attack his Yowie!" he then commanded.

"Foolish. You really have learned nothing. I sacrifice Ipiria and Yowie to activate Reflector Hole. Counter his attack!" Gansley said, his two monsters turned into specks of light which formed into his Reflector Hole that swallowed up Yami's Celtic Guardian, it then reappeared heading right for Yami who was struck in the chest and his life-points dropped to 500.

Yami recoiled in pain, grasping his shoulder where his monster's attack had struck him. "That makes two direct hits, three strikes and you're out." Gansley said.

"At least you're down to one monster." Yami growled, looking up at Gansley only for his eyes to widen in disbelief upon seeing another monster beside Ruklamba. "Two monsters!?"

"Yes. You see, I like to take the advantage while my opponent is suffering. So, I activated the effect of my Ruklamba, sacrificing it to special summon two monsters from my hand whose combined attack were 2000 or less. So, I summoned Wall of Illusion and another Ruklamba." Gansley explained.

"You had that move planned from the start, didn't you?" Yami asked.

"Of course, I did. Now allow me to introduce you to my newest employee, the Wall of Illusion. Whenever this monster is attacked, the attacking monster is removed from the field and sent back to the player's hand. So, you may want to resign now Yugi." Gansley told him.

"With two monsters on the field, I can't attack Gansley now. He'll tribute both monsters to activate his Reflector Hole ability again. I can't afford to let that happen again, with only 500 life-points left, I'll lose the duel and my body to Gansley then I'll be stuck in this cyber world forever with him being able to leave disguised as me." Yami thought.

"You gave it your best shot, my young friend. But in the end, big business always wins. Besides, I've roamed this virtual void for far too long and you're my ticket out of here." Gansley said.

"It's not over Gansley, so don't make your travel plans yet." Yami told him.

"Keep your false hope, you'll be that more disappointed when you plummet into defeat. You and your pitiful Deck Master. That pathetic pom-pom is useless." Gansley said and Kuriboh huffed and shook his tiny fists at him. "You're doomed."

"Taunt me all you want Gansley. I'll never give up hope. I trust my deck." Yami said.

"And I trust my skill." Gansley said with a smirk. "I've assembled an unbeatable deck of monsters, not that it really matters at this point. You will be out of life-points before my next turn allowing me to finally return to the real world while your mind is scattered throughout cyber space!"
