ASSAULTING SUNRISE
Job 2: Pistol-Go-Round
Carmelita leaves the safe-house and glances around. There are a few guards in the picture, but nothing overly dangerous; they shouldn't get in her way.
They wouldn't, Carmelita's an old hand at this, except she has to skirt around the brine fountain park. She takes to a rooftop to wait for one Culpeo to pass, and he stops to play with his flashlight, then walks right into the fountain park, gets hit by the spray, and gets knocked backwards. Carmelita stops to watch, fascinated, as the guard proceeds to knock himself unconscious trying to walk through the fountain park.
Guards.
It takes a little time, but Carmelita makes her way to the center of the park, where the carousel's turning. Her mission start point is by the entrance; Carmelita makes her way there and pulls out her binoc-u-com. "Why am I doing this, exactly?"
"Because you and Tennessee are the best shots," Bentley says, "and I don't trust Tennessee not to get so distracted riding the merry-go-round that he forgets to shoot."
In the background, Tennessee calls, "I would not!"
Bentley ignores him. "I want you to get on the merry-go-round and shoot out all the cameras. Due to its location in the center of the park, you should be able to target every camera from here."
Carmelita sighs. "Why can't I just walk around the park and do it? Riding the carousel seems like a waste of time."
"With the exception of the camera mounted over that central door in the merry-go-round itself, there aren't any cameras pointed at it. That means you can take out that one first and deal with all the other cameras without alerting anyone to your whereabouts, and give us the element of surprise."
Carmelita shakes her head. "It still seems like it'd be easier to go around and destroy them on foot."
"If you don't think you can hit them, I could still have Tennessee do it."
"That won't be necessary," Carmelita snaps, and jams her binoc-u-com in her pocket. She leaps from her post onto the carousel and looks around.
There are animals with saddles for people to ride: hippos, raccoons, turtles, mice, foxes, iguanas, bears, and more, each bearing a distinct resemblance to characters in previous games, and with expressions that range from resignation or begrudging acceptance to delighted excitement or outrage. There are also a few benches, no doubt for less adventurous riders. Carmelita locates the camera on the carousel and takes aim. As she shoots, Bentley mutters, "Remember, until you've shot out all the cameras, you have to stay on this merry-go-round."
Easy enough, Carmelita thinks, until the carousel starts to move.
It's moving slowly, with that overly cheerful carousel music, the various animals on poles moving up and down and everything turning. Carmelita walks to the edge of the carousel and peers out.
There are five more cameras, each marked with a waypoint, spaced more-or-less evenly around the area. Some are high up (by the log flume), others close to the ground but further away. Either way, it's gonna take some fancy shooting skills.
Not the least because, to get at a good angle to hit some of them, Carmelita has to stand on one of the animals. She waits until the raccoon is near the top of its arc to fire at the camera on top of the log flume; with her precision goggles, she can see and aim a lot further away. The camera snaps and falls to the ground.
The carousel speeds up.
Hitting the rest of the targets is a test of skill. It's a test of timing. It's shooting while sitting on the bench and sitting on various moving animals and, as the carousel gets faster and faster with every destroyed camera, having difficulties walking in a straight line as Carmelita starts to get dizzy. Seriously, this thing is moving SO FAST when she has only one target left that she can't even walk against the speed of it; she has to move backwards, to the bench (she is SO HAPPY she saved one that could be hit from the bench for last, otherwise she'd have to deal with moving up and down as well) so she can sit down for some extra stability.
With a final cracking shot, the last camera gets destroyed. "Nice work, Carmelita," says Bentley, as the carousel starts slowing down again. "Now we have a clear area to work in."
JOB COMPLETE
Carmelita waits for the carousel to slow a bit before jumping off, then staggers off as it starts speeding up again.
