Harry Potter and a Sirius Matter

I don't own Harry Potter or any rights pertaining thereto. This story will start with Harry Potter in the King's Cross Waiting Room and be AU to canon. Pairings may or may not be canon. Events may not be as first published by JK Rowling and are not intended to suggest new canon.

The moon set at 18:30 on 6 June 1994 and was a waning, not full moon. For this story the date will be kept as published as a full moon in The Prisoner of Azkaban and moonrise will by 18:30, when Remus Lupin began to change into his werewolf form. The sunset at around 21:00 will be 21:40 in story to reflect Hogwarts northerly location.

Harry Potter awoke with a start. He'd had a conversation with Luna Lovegood that hadn't involved Nargles and Wrackspurts. He hoped he'd have more. He'd enjoyed his first ever birthday party. Harry had a memory return. He remembered Dumbledore coming into his room and putting on his father's invisibility cloak, before the attack by You-Know-Who.

Harry got ready for a big day. He did the chores. It was force of habit. He kept some squirrel bones that Dudley had kept after killing the squirrel. He ate his breakfast. A full English spread. He ate too much. It was his last meal at 4 Privet Drive. He cleaned up after himself. He was due at the Police station at 10. Just before he left, he sent a patronus that had a message to deliver to Madame Bones. Harry had liked the spell and it took him a few attempts before he got it right. The message was partly about the magic draining wardstone. Harry left for the Police station.

Madame Amelia Bones was surprised to receive the talking full-corporeal patronus from Harry Potter. She despatched Aurors to investigate. They would return with the wardstone, proof that Albus Dumbledore's story about Lily's blood was a load of baloney, as the Muggles said. She'd been sceptical, when Harry had told her the story. Albus had done Blood Magic and botched some Soul Magic. Both magics had been outlawed in the Wizengamot, before 1981, on legislation Albus Dumbledore had promoted. This time Amelia Bones had Albus Dumbledore.

Amelia Bones had another problem. She'd had to dismiss or suspend 8 of her 10 department heads. She'd found 6 Death Eaters, one fellow-traveller and one member of the Order of the Phoenix in her surprise veritaserum tests. Fudge had wanted the Death Eaters thrown through the Veil. Amelia wanted to know just how penetrated her Department was. She shuddered to think that there could be other Death Eaters in other Ministry Departments. Amelia had deputies running those departments that were missing their heads. Arthur Weasley had been sent home. Mafalda Hopkirk had been sent to a holding cell. The Death Eaters were in the interrogation cells. The problem Amelia had was that 3 of them were members of the Wizengamot and would have to be released for the meeting that afternoon. Amelia was busy filling in a holding charge sheet for Death Eaters and included a section to permit interrogation. She had to do one for each of the Wizengamot members and for those others she was holding. When the wardstone came in, it was tested and shut down. Amelia wrote out a charge sheet for Dumbledore. Amelia hoped Harry wasn't the one responsible for the deaths of his relatives. She didn't relish having to charge him with murder. His patronus had said he was on his way to the Police station.

Harry was dressed in his best Wizengamot clothes for his Police station visit. He was shown into an interrogation room, after signing in, of course. A solicitor was already there. Harry was asked why he hadn't gone to the funeral. Harry explained that it had been his birthday and they'd told him to go spend time with his friends. That was that. Harry signed himself out and the solicitor took him to their offices.

Harry learnt that he had been emancipated by the Dursleys. Harry knew that was because they didn't want his freakishness imposed on any other normal family. The Dursleys all had sizeable life insurance policies. Harry had said that was the first he'd known about that. Harry had a school trust fund with about £10000 remaining in it. Dudley had a much larger fund. Harry wanted that transferred into his. Harry had a £5 bank account set up on his birth by his Evans grandparents. Harry said he'd have the money from the sale of the properties go in there. He'd take his own stuff out. He'd want all the paperwork and the furniture sold with that money into his bank account. He was told that he'd receive about £2.5m from the life insurance policies. Harry said he wanted those proceeds put into government bonds. The funerals would be the following week. Harry was more than content to let the solicitors handle all the details.

Harry went back to 4 Privet Drive and collected the stuff he wanted to take with him, including the squirrel bones and all the paperwork he could find, dropped the keys off with the solicitor and went to Bones Manor, by Knight Bus. Hermione and Susan greeted him. Harry smiled. Harry wrote a quick note to Ginny.

Ginny,

Hufflepuff already has a very good seeker, so I don't need my firebolt anymore, as I'm not going to get into their team. Please accept this as a gift, to you personally.

Harry

Harry gave both letter and firebolt to Hedwig, who flew off to the Burrow. They'd never see his demanding 18000 galleons repayment coming. They being the Weasleys.

Amelia Bones made it back in time to eat a meal before they all went to the Wizengamot. Dumbledore banged his gavel at 2pm asking for all who had business before the Wizengamot to make themselves known. Lucius Malfoy strode forward in full dragonskin armour.

"I, Lucius Malfoy, Head of House Malfoy do challenge to the death Lord Potter-Black for the vicious unprovoked murder of my son Draco and other whose fathers will also stand beside me."

"What say you, Harry?" Dumbledore asked. Would the man ever call him by his proper title? Harry fumed.

"7 Slytherin purebloods attempting to murder one muggleborn girl in her hospital bed, under the protection of the Noble and Most Ancient Houses of Potter and Black is not unprovoked murder. I did what any of you would have done to uphold Protection offered by your House. I put them down. This challenge, Lord Malfoy, is without merit and against the rules of the Wizengamot." Harry sat down.

"I shall allow the challenge," Dumbledore said. There were shocked gasps echoing around the public gallery. Dumbledore set up the duelling area.

"No armour is permitted in the Wizengamot chambers," Harry shouted out. Aurors helped the 7 challengers out of their armour. Harry was sure Malfoy would cheat. 7 against 1 was hardly fair. For five minutes Harry dodged and weaved using defensive spells to keep the others on their toes. He needed them to bunch up so his Expulso would get them all. Finally, they did and Harry, using his redwood wand cast the spell. As the 7 started flying backwards, Harry emptied his box of matches. 80 matches became 80 steel needles, which became yard long instruments of death that Harry banished towards his fallen foes.

Harry reached the dying 7. Malfoy attempted to draw his sword from its cane. Harry stood on his hand and drew the sword himself. He rammed the point of the sword through Malfoy's right eye and into his brain. Harry transfigured the instruments of death into matches again and put them back into his match box. There was silence all around the Wizengamot Chamber.

"I, Harry James Potter, Lord of the Noble and Most Ancient House of Potter claim Spoils of War against these 7 Houses: their titles, privileges, rights, possessions and people as chattels of the Noble and Most Ancient House of Potter." Missed by most in the Chamber, blue light attached itself to said people.

"You are going Dark, Harry."

"Expelliarmus," Harry shouted. He'd finally had enough. He caught the Elder Wand in his left hand. He put it in his wand holder. Accio De-illuminator, Harry followed that up with Fiendfyre that incinerated the de-illuminator as it flew across the room towards him. Harry stalked up to his seat and turned a contemptuous glance towards Dumbledore.

"Call me by my forename again, old man and I will kill you." Time to humiliate Narcissa Malfoy.

"Narcissa, stand. Take off all your clothes and stay naked until I tell you that you can get dressed again." Narcissa obeyed. Harry could see that she had perfect skin. He could understand why Voldemort had not made her take the Death Mark. Nothing should ever mar that perfection. Dumbledore looked so shocked that he quite forgot Harry's death threat or chose to forget it.

Harry now controlled 20 votes in the Wizengamot. Amelia's charges against the three Wizengamot members stuck and they were dragged away. Amelia decided, after Harry's outburst not to try to place Dumbledore under arrest.

Harry's attempt to discuss the Order of Merlin was tabled until the next meeting. His demand that the Weasleys repay 18000 galleons taken out of his account without his authorisation was met with consternation throughout the Chamber. Arthur Weasley acknowledged the debt, once it was confirmed that his family owed it. Arthur had no idea how he was going to repay it. He'd watched Harry Potter kill 7 vastly more experienced wizards, whilst suffering what looked to be minor superficial cuts. He'd then taken all 7 Houses as Chattels of his House and made Narcissa Malfoy stand naked all afternoon. Arthur couldn't get the image of her body out of his mind. Then Harry had put Dumbledore down on his backside and threatened to kill him over his name. No, there was no way, he, Arthur Weasley, had any wish to put himself under Lord Potter-Black's wand. His mother, Cedrella Weasley nee Black, had not raised an idiot. He could see why Ron was terrified by Lord Potter-Black.

Once the meeting was over, Harry instructed Narcissa to get dressed. He dismissed the 7 widows with instructions to present an inventory of their possessions and people to his Steward in 72 hours. Harry was trying to get to Remus, when Ted Tonks intercepted him and dragged him into a consultation room.

"Lord Potter-Black, some free legal advice, you've just taken 7 Houses as chattels to your own. You will have to produce heirs for each House with each widow."

"Like that's happening," Harry muttered. Ted heard him.

"It's the law, Lord Potter-Black."

"What else has my outburst cost me?" Harry asked.

"That'll cost you, Lord Potter-Black. You can retain me for 12000 galleons a year as your House lawyer."

"I'll have my Steward. Remus Lupin, draw up a contract, Mr Tonks."

"That will be most acceptable," Ted said. Ted watched the young Lordling walk off. Yes, most acceptable, he thought. He could wrangle Andi's acceptance back into House Black out of this and a dowry.

Harry caught up with Remus, who looked harried. Harry smirked, at his own pun.

"Remus, please draw up a contract for Mr Tonks to become my lawyer for 12000 galleons a year. He called it a retainer, but I don't want to pay more for his services. There's a Weasley squib, Ron told me about that his family ignores, Fred Weasley. A contract for him to be my accountant for 6000 galleons a year, if you please. It should be amusing to have his first order of business to work out a repayment schedule with Lord Weasley."

"That's pure evil, Harry," Remus said. Harry laughed. Neither realised that Rita Skeeter was eavesdropping. The Daily Prophet would lead with the headline, 'New Dark Lord Arises?', the following morning. Remus would have some fun setting the record straight. Owls were despatched with the contract offers.

Harry went back with Amelia Bones and the girls to Bones Manor. They were settled in the lounge and Amelia asked Harry a question.

"Are you planning on offering Narcissa to breeding contracts?"

Harry spluttered. "What's a breeding contract?" Hermione and Susan had turned very red.

"Houses pay for another House to provide a female to bear a child for their house," Amelia answered. "Narcissa will fetch a pretty price."

"She would. Wouldn't she. It's the perfect skin that does it. I think I'll reject the first offer from any House that does offer and probably the second, unless Narcissa wants me to accept any."

It was Amelia's turn to splutter. It was unheard of for the female to be given a choice in such circumstances. She was spared any further embarrassment, because the evening meal was now served. At the end of the meal, Harry spoke,

"It's got to be said that I've got Dumbledore's charge that I'm going Dark, that I'm a murderer hanging over me and Hermione's favourite that I let Sirius die because it was convenient. I discovered that I have to have children with 7 women to provide an heir for each of their Houses, because I took them as chattels."

"You don't have to start having children until after you turn 17," Amelia said in a conciliatory tone of voice.

"It was convenient," Hermione averred.

"Letting Sirius die, Hermione, was the hardest thing I have ever done. He was under Dumbledore's thumb and would not have taken the time to heal his mind. He was fixed on Pettigrew the rat to the exclusion of almost everything else. He could have joined me on the Knight Bus, but didn't. Sirius betrayed me, Hermione. He admitted he let me down in life. He knew he was making it up to me with his death. Convenient, Hermione? I was relying on him leaving everything to me, after his death. There was no guarantee of that. I gambled that Sirius wouldn't leave all his assets to Dumbledore or to somebody under Dumbledore's control." Harry knew Sirius wouldn't, because he'd got Kreacher and the House. Actually, Harry hadn't known he'd get everything. He had gambled.

Technically, Harry wasn't a murderer. The slaughter of the goblins was genocide, a whole different ball-game. The Dwarves liked him a heck of a lot more and Harry doubted there was a Wizard or a Witch who'd give a damn about the removal of the Goblins. Removal? There was a euphemism, if ever he'd heard one. Dumbledore already knew that Harry was a killer, even before the 7 noblemen had died.

Dumbledore had not had a good afternoon. First Harry Potter had killed 7 men without showing any remorse about it, at all. Second, Harry had dumped him on his backside and threatened to kill him. Harry had taken the Elder Wand and destroyed his de-illuminator through which he'd been controlling Hermione Granger. When he'd followed up on the trace on the Firebolt, he'd ended up at the Burrow. Molly and Arthur had demanded that he give them a wizard's oath that they had both left the Order of the Phoenix and that neither was still a member. Dumbledore was used to Molly screeching, even if his ears weren't, but he'd never seen Arthur so determined. Of course, he'd done what they had demanded. Dumbledore was determined to recover his wand. He'd not gone to all that trouble to prevent Lord Charlus Potter from getting it to lose it to his great nephew.

Dumbledore had thought that Harry Potter wouldn't mind paying for the education of the Weasleys. It wasn't like he needed the money. James Potter had been most unreasonable, when it had come to what the Vault, he and Lily were leaving for Harry, could be used for. Dumbledore had built up his own vast fortune, most of which was now lost to him, in a place he could no longer remember. He still had a sizeable fortune scattered about the London Underground and it was one bolstered by splitting the proceeds of goods stolen by Mundungus in the process of gathering of information for him. The fact was that Dumbledore was keeping his resources to be spent in the final war against Voldemort. It couldn't be frittered away helping his allies. The Greater Good demanded this.

It occurred to Harry that he could stand to become a Hogwarts' Governor. In fact, he could have a slate of 12 candidates or nearly. He could ask Amelia Bones to be one, as well. Who else? Diggory, Abbott, Longbottom, Chang, Greengrass, Davis, Zabini and Harry was stumped. He didn't know any other Slytherins who could be remotely called 'nice'. He'd be having a faction meeting on the morrow.

Susan was speaking to him. "It's not like you're really a murderer, is it," Susan repeated for the fifth time.

"Technically, no, Susan. Sorry, I was thinking about standing as a Governor for Hogwarts and having our faction put up candidates, but I can only think of 9 names, including my own."

"That's a good idea," Amelia said, smiling sweetly. "Who were you thinking of?"

"You, naturally, Diggory, Abbott, Longbottom, Chang, Greengrass, Davis and Zabini."

"Diggory, Chang and Zabini aren't part of our faction," Amelia pointed out.

"Not yet," Harry smirked.

Hermione thought about what Harry had said about Sirius. She couldn't believe he'd taken the risk that he wouldn't inherit everything. She thought the part about Sirius betraying Harry had contributed greatly to Harry's decision. She didn't know how to deal with that thought. She leant over and kissed Harry. She might not fully agree with Harry, but she did support him. She'd get him on his own. Then she'd have a right good go at him. Normal Harry would hardly say boo to a goose. This Harry was determined like he was on his broom in a Quidditch match and like he'd been whilst driving off over 100 dementors to save Sirius. So what had changed? He'd gone from being so determined to save Sirius to not caring at all. Why other to save Sirius from over 100 dementors to let him die, later?

Amelia was slightly worried by Harry. He'd taken Dumbledore down, taken his wand and threatened to kill him. If he had meant what he said about Sirius betraying him and had let him die, what did that mean for Dumbledore or anyone Harry called betrayer? She would certainly watch Harry Potter.

The following morning, Harry Potter visited Remus at 12 Grimmauld Place.

"There you are, Harry. You have to organise the funerals of the noble lords you killed."

"First, I kill them, next I have to bury them and then shag their widows to create new lords. Give said widows a budget and let them organise the funerals. I'll attend, because I have to." Harry sighed.

After their business was concluded for the day, Harry took the Knight Bus to his or rather the Dursleys' solicitor to discuss funeral arrangements and court appearance for his muggle emancipation. The paperwork had been collected for Harry's attention. Harry praised them for their speed. That brought a smile. Harry wondered how much that smile would cost him. The probate/emancipation hearing was set for 18 August 1994. Great, Harry thought, just in time for the final of the Quidditch World Cup on 22 August 1994. Harry thought about the 30 Death Eaters he'd seen in the cemetery. He'd killed 7 of them. Thing was he didn't know when Riddle had returned to Magical Britain with Nagini. Harry knew Frank Bryce had been murdered 16 August 1994. That was the date he'd have to work with. He'd have Remus replace the bones of Tom Riddle senior with suitably lengthened squirrel bones on that date. The 16th was a Tuesday. Tom had a date with Death, he just did not know it yet.

Harry had to spend time organising funerals for the seven widows. They hadn't been allowed to handle money. Remus helped with things, too. Narcissa asked him why he had made her spend an afternoon naked.

"It got a point across," Harry said. "You have perfect skin. Why shouldn't such perfection not be shown off? Besides, being lusted after made you feel better than all those years with Lucius. This showed just how Lucius undervalued you. Not trusting you with House finances. You were born a Black and finance is in their blood."

"You are so right, Lord Potter-Black," Narcissa said.

Harry had 10 funerals to deal with. He got through the week, somehow. Tonks and Squib Fred had agreed to enter his service. Harry was pleased about that. Lord Weasley had taken back his Wizengamot seat. Fred had arranged that his brother repay 500 galleons a month for three years. Lord Weasley had taken his department job back, now he could prove he'd left Dumbledore's 'Chicken Club'. Dumbledore's long tenure of proxy seats came to end for the Shacklebolt, Prewett, Ollivander and Slugthorn Houses. He was down to his Order of Merlin seat and the Hogwarts seat. Even the Hogwarts seat was removed from him after the Slytherin Head Boy announced he'd be attending Wizengamot meetings. Dumbledore would attend the 1st September meeting, knowing neither the Head Boy nor Harry could attend it, because they'd both be on the Hogwarts express. Dumbledore would use the meeting to have Harry's emancipation removed. The Governors meeting had started the process of the audit of Hogwarts finances and teaching staff. Albus was looking at recruiting a new Care of Magical Creatures teacher. Hagrid wouldn't mind.

Harry's idea for a slate of candidates to stand for Governor met with approval. Letters were sent inviting the three who weren't faction members to stand with them. Harry's lessons in etiquette continued. He added lessons in wizarding law from Ted and fitness training from widow Bulstrode. She looked like one of the old East German shot-putters. Hermione and Susan insisted on training with Harry.

The other widows weren't too much to look at, Harry thought. Well, okay, widows Parkinson and Nott were trophy wives. Calling widows Crabbe and Goyle plain would be being polite. Widow Runcorn was wearing a smock that covered anything interesting and her hair was cut in pudding bowl style. Harry would get a full report from Remus. He'd not had a full report on House Crouch. Harry hoped Remus hadn't come across something that shouldn't be there.

Remus thought replacing the bones of Riddle senior was a tremendous prank. Using a squirrel was a masterstroke. At least, according to Remus. Harry got his basilisk armour together. The Dwarves had made it specially for Harry. They'd even made a scabbard for Godric's Sword. Three wand holsters with spring releases for each of his wands. There were even a couple more holsters for captured wands.

For 16 August 1994 could not come quickly enough for Harry James Potter. At 21:30 Remus side-apparated them to a graveyard in Little Hangleton. Remus began digging up the body of Tom Riddle Snr. Harry ran off to keep Frank Bryce from entering Riddle House. There would be no murder done this night, if Harry had anything to do with it. A wandless stupefy would cause Frank to sleep for hours. He'd assume he'd been sleeping off his drinking. Then Harry donned his Invisibility Cloak and ran back to the gravesite. Once there he cast spells to cancel sound and smell emanating from him. Harry was sure Tom would send Nagini out to patrol the grounds. Remus was oblivious to the approach of the giant snake. It was approaching from downwind. Nagini coiled to strike and lunged. Harry had been waiting for this and leapt swinging the sword in a cutting motion. Remus saw a Harry shape leaping over the grave and a snake head and snake body falling in different directions.

Remus gave ,a now visible, Harry a shovel and together they excavated the last bit of soil. The coffin had long since decayed. Remus vanished the bones and replaced them with the bones of the squirrel and lengthened them. Harry moved on to the Gaunt Shack. Harry saw Peter Pettigrew. He was carrying a bottle. He was going to milk snakes for their venom. Harry could hear him moaning about having to do it. Harry got into a good position and cast a fiendfyre at the shack using the Elder Wand. When the smoke cleared, metaphorically speaking, there was no shack and no snakes or Peter Pettigrew. Harry reached the ring and stone. He pocketed the stone and put the ring on his finger. He felt the by now familiar challenge of his right to wear it. He passed it and added the Peverell House ring on his finger. The effect it had had on the other timeline Dumbledore was down to Dumbledore's lack of any right to wear the ring and not to any spell Riddle had tried to put on it. Harry now had all three of the Deathly Hallows. It was now 10 pm and Harry had to go face Riddle. He put on the glamour of Frank Bryce. He went into the House. He drew his own original wand. This was showtime. Harry laughed when Riddle invited Frank Bryce in. Harry almost had the Expelliarmus done before he was through the door. The spell met Tom's killing curse. Tom was surprised when the lattice began to be formed. Harry wasn't. He summoned all his feelings for Hermione, all his love for her and drove the fragments of Riddle's soul from his mind. His parents escaped Riddle's wand expressed their love for him and joined the other ghosts for tormenting Riddle. Harry drew his redwood wand and cast another Expelliarmus at Riddle. This one sent Riddle one way and the wand the other towards Harry. The soul fragments kept on rushing towards Tom Riddle. They no longer had an anchor and would carry on until they dissipated and Tom Riddle was no more. Harry had one more job for the Elder Wand that night. Once he was out of the house, another Fiendfyre put the house up in smoke and flame.

Remus had finished putting the soil back and making everything look as though no digging at all had happened that night.

"Well done, Remus. We've done what we needed to do, tonight. That is to say, you have."

"I'd love to see Riddle's face, when he realises what his new body is," Remus said, laughing.

"We had better be off. There's a house on fire and the muggle fire brigade will be here shortly."

Remus side-apparated them both back to 12 Grimmauld Place. Harry walked up the stairs until he came to Walburga's picture.

"How dare you impudent half-blood attack the Dark Lord."

"Blood purity is important to you, isn't it? Here's a newsflash. Lord Voldemort was born Tom Marvolo Riddle. He was the son of a pureblood Gaunt mother and a muggle father. What woman from a pureblood house uses a love potion on a muggle?"

"A muggle," Walburga's portrait fair screamed. "I hope you put him in your place."

"Oh, I put him in his place. I shall need your help and advice in restoring House Black into something Master Regulus, in particular, would have wanted it to be."

Walburga's portrait nodded. Harry had a good night's sleep.

Harry had a good night's sleep, it bore repeating so rare had it been. He awoke and made a list in his mind. 22 Death Eaters still at large, not including Karkarof, the Headmaster of Durmstrang or Snivellus. At least 10 Death Eaters in Azkaban. Then there were the 130 graduates and Slytherin, all tutored by the well-known paragon of humanity, the bravest man he knew, Severus Tobias Snape, Lord Prince – and the 63 Slytherin currently in school, including this new year's batch – Harry was fairly sure 3 or 4 weren't Death eaters in waiting. Did that include the Pureblood Supremacists? Those Purebloods would brush off revelations about their Dark Lord having a muggle father.

Then there was his Dumbledore-sized problem caused by, well, Albus 'too many bloody names' Dumbledore. Harry would have to check if hosting the Tri-Wizarding Tournament meant Dumbledore was safe from the sack. Dumbledore wouldn't care, if Harry did get 9 votes on the Board of Governors for Hogwarts this year, if he couldn't be fired.

Harry attended the court on the 18th. It was a long day, but he ended up emancipated, two and a half million pounds richer, £100000 in his Trust fund and a still only fiver in his own account that the Dursleys had set up. That one had surprised Harry. Harry hadn't mentioned the accounts he had with another bank. The solicitors acting for him said they'd found buyers for both properties, who would take ownership 1st Sept 1994 and raised £5000 from sale of furniture. Harry could expect £100000 for the properties. All of this was before fees payable to the solicitors. Harry wondered where the bank accounts belonging to the Dursleys were.

The following day, Harry went to the banks the Dursleys had their money in. Vernon had £183000 in the account he shared with Petunia. Marge had £481000 in hers. Who knew dog breeding did so well? He moved all money into his own account. He then arranged for all the utilities to be turned off. He spent Saturday taking the Knight Bus between locations and using silent spells to open and close the properties to allow for meter readings to be taken and the supply switched off.

Remus was of course out of action, due his three days of taking wolfsbane and Harry had to deal with all the things Remus usually did. Remus did a lot, quietly and efficiently. Harry's degree of respect for Remus rose several levels. Fred suggested buying £2m of 6% 1999 Treasury bonds. Harry said yes. Fred also suggested buying £500000 into 8% Treasury 2013. Harry agreed. Fred took £25000 out of Harry's account as commission costs and £5000 in his own fees.

Harry thought about stopping the 500000 galleon gift from the Malfoy account to the Ministry. He couldn't plunge the wizarding world into so much turmoil. The Quidditch World Cup final happened more of less the way he remembered. Ireland won, but Krum caught the Snitch. The twins Fred and George Weasley bet with Bagman and Fudge. Bagman paid them 1000 galleons in Leprechaun gold, but Fudge paid them 1000 real galleons. It turned out they needed the galleons, because their Owls weren't good enough to get them into Zonkos. They'd have to found Weasley Wizarding Wheezes from their garden shed.

Half a dozen Death Eaters did attack the crowd. Weatherby (Percy Weasley) and Amos Diggory ensured the six did not escape. Winky, the Crouch House-Elf cast Mordsmorde. She promised Harry to keep his secrets and became his House-Elf. It cost the Crouch estate 50000 galleons in fines. Harry paid the fines out of their Vault. House Crouch had plenty more where that came from.

Ted Tonks greeted Harry on the morning of Tuesday 23rd August with a spring in his step and an evil smile. Apparently, the Gaunts, when they had leased their land to the Riddle family had placed an entailment such that the land and other leases would revert to them, in the event Riddle House no longer stood upon their land. Ted told Harry that he, as the Gaunt, now had an estate though there was a tintine. No, a tontine, Harry thought that was what Ted Tonks had said. Harry had no idea what that meant and he just stared at Ted, blankly.
