PENG | CHAPTER 06: WEB TOWER | BY TWISTED ETERNAL WOLVETTA
Tate Yuuichi had heard of a grand tower overlooking the rolling hills of Windbloom. Rumour has it, this fortification was guarded by a sinful beast. Though, what kind of monster was this? Mayhaps a minotaur of ancient legend? Perhaps it was even a great dragon! So many potential challenges lay before the travelling knight! But, alas… for he had arrived at the tower. It was nothing like he had expected. Rather than the Princess flinging her window open to greet him, it was the complete opposite.
"You people again?!" The redhead squawked from atop her balcony. Hands clasping the stone banister, her upper half partially leaned over. "How many times have I got to tell you?! No!" Spinning on her heel, she picked up a mystery object and chucked at the befuddled knight. "No!" She repeated; the object—a plant pot, it turns out—smashing at Yuuichi's feet. "NO!" Immediately the Princess went to collect another item.
W-what? Yuuichi could only watch on in disbelief, occasionally dodging makeshift projectiles. "H-hey! Watch it!" He yelled in return, leaping backwards just in time. A literal cabinet had been heaved over the balcony! The wooden container smashed against the floor; clothing haphazardly spilling onto the floor. Staring speechlessly through his helmet's visor, he realised it was underwear.
"Ah! Pervert! Helmed robber! Thief!"
Exchanging looks between the lingerie and royal, Yuuichi didn't instantly react. What on Earl is this wom—"You're the one who threw it! The only person you can accuse is yourself!"
"Hah?!"
Has the tower's Princess gone loony from isolation? This much could be deciphered as he edged away from the undergarment cabinet. Another item was lobbed; this time a molotov—wait what? Yelping, the knight scrambled out of the way. "What the hell are you playing at?!" Where did she get that?! Poor Yuuichi could only watch on as fire surrounded him in a circular pattern. The short flames licked at the grass, smouldering it down into black dust.
"Go down into the dungeon and kill the spiders! That's why I'm stuck here in the first place!"
...What.
Through his armet visor, he peered up hard at the Princess. Was she for real? Gods', he'd never understand women. With that, he marched towards the reinforced oaken door. Miraculously, the hefty thing was unlocked. Now within a stone spiral staircase, he peered upwards. There was a trapdoor barring passage to the Princess. This was typically locked. Grumbling, Yuuichi guessed he had no other choice. He started his careful descent downwards. Further and farther he travelled until an antechamber greeted him. Within this room's darkness, silk webbing glittered. All along the walls and ceiling, this arachnid fibre suspended outworldly objects. Many he did not recognise, as these did not belong to Earl. Passing a multitude of Tesco trolleys, one of these slammed against the floor, alerting him.
Whirling around, the knight unsheathed his longsword. Before he could react, a dozen spiderlings darted towards him and leapt. They skittered to and fro across his plate armour, making the knight panic. Arching downwards, he shaked his torso powerfully, attempting to throw them off. Unbeknown to he, a towering arachnid crawled out from the Pit. Unto him the Spider Queen slinked, fangs brimmed with a venomous sting. She was angry.
Throwing the last spiderling off, he crushed it beneath his boot. Feeling a terrifying presence behind him, he paused. What… is that…? Yuuichi turned around, four glowing sockets staring back. A-ah… Stepping backwards, his blade momentarily skimmed along the floor. This upset the eight-legged behemoth; her body arching backwards. Front limbs splaying outwards, she revealed her disgusting, chartreuse chelicerae. Hairy indeed, the fangs dripped with venomous spit.
Oh, Gods' save him! Raising his blade within both hands, he swerved it to the left in preparation. Swinging the longsword in a cutting motion, the arachnid monarch danced out the way. A terrible squark released from the spider, turning the knight's legs to lead. H-he couldn't allow her to retaliate! One swipe would be his doom. As the monarch rose, a dread filled Yuuichi. Was this the end?
A beam of viridian light spilled from the floor beneath his feet. Unable to respond in time, it engulfed him. Where the knight and spider had been, was now empty.
A/N: I wanted to show how cool Yuuichi can be when written nicely. This isn't the conclusion for him, he will be showing up later.
