Warped Fate
By Twisted Eternal Wolvetta

"You're responsible for all of this, aren't you?" Dilandau madly proclaimed, pointing an index finger towards Hitomi. "My Dragonslayers and the Zaibach Empire are gone and it's all your fault!" Unsheathing his double-bladed katana, he prowled towards the Mystic Moonling.

"A-ah!" Hitomi panicked, collapsing backwards and shielding herself.

Their surroundings were engulfed by hellfire and Guymelef debris. On all sides chaos and complete carnage reigned. Alas, just as Dilandau was about to strike Hitomi down, Van intruded.

"You insolent bastard!" He roared, straining against the King's own blade. A struggle commenced, both men grunting and glaring death.

"Stay away from Hitomi!" Van snarled, pushing in front of her. Bracing against Dilandau, he forced the Dragonslayer backwards. "Aghhh!"

Luckily for the Captain, he leapt backwards before the Monarch could slice into him. "You've already disfigured my beautiful face! Now you will DIE!" Arcing his blade upwards, he ploughed it down against Van's. This repeated not twice, thrice, quadrice, but quince; the final blow ripping the sword skywards. "DIE LITTLE KING!" No one is getting in his way! Not even the Emperor if he still breathed!

Standing his ground, Van quickly glanced towards his sword. It lay beside a Guymelef arm close by. Thinking fast, he leapt towards it but was immediately cornered. With swift succession, he was overpowered by Dilandau who was inhumanly strong. Where has this power suddenly come from?! Gritting his teeth, Van's arms were forced against his chest. His own one-sided blade cut into his cheek, exciting his adversary immensely.

"Look at you! Now you're disgustingly mutilated just like my face!" Cackling gleefully, the Captain swerved backwards as the royal roared with rage. "Van Slanzar de Fanel; I'll carve my mark into your soul!" Retreating, he seized Hitomi's arm and restrained her against him. "First I'll start with her!" Angling his katana, it nipped upon the Mystic Moonling's throat dangerously. "I'll slice her into little bits!"

"HITOMI!"

A/N: I found it weird how in the anime, Dilandau didn't have much to do with Hitomi. I would've figured he'd kidnap her to gain Van's full attention. As I typed this snippet, I quickly discovered how much fun it is to write Dilandau. You never know, I might write more Escaflowne in the future.
