Severus' Daughter: Year One
Chater Eleven: Severus in Diagon Alley
Severus stalked towards Gringotts barely noticing anyone or anything around him, even the students staring at him with wide, shocked eyes. His mind focused on his daughter and how the trip had affected her. He almost wanted to cancel the appointment and go home to her, but he knew it was never wise to cancel on a goblin. He didn't want to make an enemy of himself.
"Severus!" a familiar voice called, startling him out of his daze as he turned towards his long time friend with a small smile on his face, that to others probably looked like a grimace.
"Xeno, it is good to see you," he replied cordially, noticing the little girl next to his friend and smiling gently at her, "Hello, Luna,"
"Hey, Sev," Luna grinned.
"Are you okay, Sev? You looked like you were away with the fairies," Xenophilius said.
"I am fine, thank you. Just worried about Rosie, we brought her here to get her school things and she was riddled with anxiety the whole time. I just sent her home with Minerva. How are you both today?"
"We are good, thank you. Just getting our shopping done. Needed some potions ingredients and such. Where are you heading?"
"Gringotts, I have an appointment with Rosie's account manager,"
"Ah, we are heading there also, we will walk with you,"
And so the three of them started walking towards the bank, Luna in the middle, sneaking her free hand into Severus' larger one, causing him to smile down at her.
"When can I meet Rosalie?" Luna asked.
"I will have a chat with her and see if she feels up to having someone over on the weekend. Is that okay?"
"Thank you," Luna said as she nodded, a beaming smile on her face.
The three entered the bank and Severus turned to face his friend.
"I will talk to you later, and let you know when you can come over to meet Rosie," Severus said, a small smile on his face.
"Okay. I hope she is okay,"
"I hope she is too, but I will let you know. See you both soon,"
They said their goodbyes and headed in their own directions, promising to talk later on.
Twenty minutes later, Severus was led into Griphooks office. He sat in the highbacked, black leather chair on the customer side of the desk and greeted Griphook warmly.
"Good afternoon, Lord Prince. How may I be of assistance to you today?"
Severus was baffled.
"Lord Prince?"
"Yes, you came in with your adoptive father about a month after your biological grandfather died and claimed the title. Although your father has been acting as your proxy,"
Severus didn't know what to say. But he knew that he was angry. What else had that man done?
"I am sorry, Master Griphook, but I have no recollection of claiming the title, or allowing Dumbledore to be my proxy. I wasn't even aware that I had inherited the title. I thought I was disinherited because of my mother,"
Griphook looked shocked for about a second before he became angry. The goblin pressed a button on his desk and a couple of minutes later a medical goblin entered the room, the two of them started talking quickly in their language.
"Lord Prince, we are going to need to run a diagnosis on you to see if your memory has been tampered with. Do you give us permission to proceed?" the healer goblin asked kindly.
"Yes,"
The spell was cast and the parchment and quill flew out of the healers' wand, detailing all that he had been through in his life. There was more angry snarling from the goblins as they looked through it.
"Lord Prince, it appears that you have been subject to a number of obliviates over the years. The first one being when you were twelve years old," Severus blanched. What could have possibly been obliviated from his mind? When he was twelve years old?
"Who?"
"Albus Dumbledore,"
Severus nodded in shock. Not really knowing what else to do. Of course it was him. But why? What did he not want Severus to remember?
"Has he been using my seats on the Wizengamot?" Severus knew that the Prince family had five Wizengamot seats.
"Yes, yours and your daughters', which she inherited from Lord James Potter, and she is heir to the Black title until Lord Sirius Black has had a child. She is also heir to some old, and until Lord Dumbledore took them over, unused seats and accounts. You signed over proxy for your daughters' seats and accounts for the duration of her childhood as she would be able to take over when she is seventeen. However, given that we now know that you have no recollection, or wish to do these things, we can get you to sign some paperwork, then you will be able to have your title, accounts, and seats, as well as your daughters' holdings, back. Any laws that have attempted to pass, any court hearings, and any other thing that has gone through the Wizengamot since Lord Dumbledore took them over will have to be revised, and any moneys, properties or artifacts used by him will have to be reviewed by yourself and if there is anything you don't think he should have done, etcetera, there will be reparations that will need to be made,"
"Okay, I would like to sign those papers, please, and take back control of mine and my daughters' holdings and seats. Is there any way you can remove the obliviates from me? I would like to know what Dumbledore has been hiding from me,"
"That is completely understandable. We can remove the obliviates, however, we cannot guarantee that you will like what you find. We can get you your Lordship ring also, and your daughters' heirship rings, so that you are both protected from similar things in the future,"
"Thank you. I am sure I won't like what I find, but I need to know,"
Griphook nodded in understanding and gestured to the healer goblin to remove the obliviates.
"This may hurt," the healer said before pointing their wand at his head and chanting a spell he had never heard of.
Hurt it did. His head ached fiercely as his mind opened up to everything that had been stolen from him. He closed his eyes tight and watched all the memories come back, some shocking him more than others did. Some tearing at his heart as he watched them. Some turning his stomach.
He felt a potion bottle being pressed into his hand and he took it, swallowing it down, breathing a sigh of relief when the pain in his head dissipated, though that didn't stop the pain in his heart, or the turning of his stomach.
"Is there anything else that you would like to talk about after filling out these papers? Anything of the legal kind?" Griphook asked as Severus opened his eyes.
"Maybe some other time, if that is okay?"
"Of course, Lord Prince. Please fill out these papers and everything will be back in your control,"
Severus nodded and got to work on the paperwork, trying to ignore his turbulent mind, stomach and emotions. When that was done he put on his ring and placed the box with Rosalie's rings in his pocket, along with the folder detailing all of the comings and goings of the multiple estates which he and Rosalie held over the past twelve years, since his grandfather died.
"I look forward to hearing from you, Lord Prince. If you need anything we are always here. Have a good day,"
"You too, thank you for today Master Griphook,"
Griphook nodded and Severus left the room, walking back towards the main hall of the bank.
"Severus!" He hears two familiar voices call out to him.
He turned around to find William 'Bill' and Charles 'Charlie' Weasley walking towards him with grins on their faces.
"Hello Bill, Charlie. How are you both?" He said with a small smile on his face, still trying not to think about his newly recovered memories.
"We are good thank you, just about to head home for dinner. We're visiting for a couple of weeks. How are you?" Charlie said.
"I could be better, I must admit, but I'll be fine, I am sure," he wasn't sure.
"How's the little one?" Bill said with a sweet smile on his face.
"She is getting there, thank you. She is doing really well actually, though she doesn't like large crowds of people, which is understandable,"
"Well, I hope she is okay. And we hope to meet her some time if she, and yourself of course, are okay with that,"
"Of course, I will have a word with her and see if she would like to meet yourselves and your family at some point. I have a feeling she will become good friends with your twin brothers,"
"Oh, how so?" Charlie asked.
"She is best friends with Lee Jordan,"
"I bet you are looking forward to her Hogwarts years?" Bill said with a grin on his face.
"Oh definitely, between them three and her godparents she is bound to be a little prankster, at least some of the time anyway,"
"Brilliant," Charlie said, obviously trying to hold in a laugh, "Anyhow, we must be off. We are helping mum make dinner so we will speak to you soon,"
"Yes, speak to you soon. Have a good evening,"
"Same to you," Bill said before leading his brother away.
Severus headed the same way, though at a much slower pace. His mind whirling even as he apparated home.
Hiya, I hope you are all well!
Thank you all for the support I received on the AN I posted a couple of weeks ago, it really means a lot that you are all still sticking with me, and I hope you like this chapter, more will be coming, and I will be updating the other stories soon also, I hope. I am also working on an original novel, and a lot more things, such as an Etsy store with stickers, bookmarks, enamel pins and more in. I also have that Discord Server I mentioned in the AN. Not much has gone on in there at the moment but you are free to join if you want to. Just message me on one of my social medias, mentioned in the AN and I will send you the link. It would be nice to have a support network in times such as this where we can talk about the things we love, but also to talk about life and things that are going on. And it can allow us to support each other and what we want to do. Also, you can still vote for who you want to be partnered with Severus, see a previous chapter for the list if you are interested.
I hope you are all having a lovely day.
