Alright, today we'll be using devil fruits for our AU.
This was honestly easier to think of (short of Bakugou). Its easy to just give them devil fruits that work well with them, but Bakugou is a bit difficult.
I could just give him either the bomb bomb fruit, or the pop pop fruit, for the sake of explosions. But neither of those fruits actually work all that well for him.
So just wait and see what I give him.
It was another night for Aizawa Shotii, another night of looking for those damn vigilantes. For the past weeks they've been more active than usual.
Causing problems for the Comission and many heroines going after them.
Their powers don't even make sense, there's rarely a sign of Quirk use and any attempt to stop them is met with failure.
Traps left either torn apart or empty.
Ambushes being pushed back and countered.
Even attempts at tracking them just led them to dead ends.
They were a walking bunch of chaos, and a real headache for her.
Midoriya jumped from roof to roof, careful with the blade at his side. Every step would jolt the blade about while it rested in his belt.
It was an annoyance if nothing else.
He stopped leaping about when a large raven, practically as large as him, landed. He approached with a carefree demeanor and waved hello. "Good to see you again, got any new info?" he greeted while adjusting his mask. The raven stared at him,
Then it slowly turned into a boy with the head of a raven.
"Nothing much; the Commission's been gunning for Volt and Stretch, The Leagues starting to gather fodder, and UA has grown far more strict on their exam requirements." The raven boy summarized. Midoriya nodded; "Good to know, keep up the hard work Raven." he said. "Understood, I'll see you again in a couple days." with that Raven departed, turning back into the large raven as he flew into the air.
He was about to do the same when he felt his senses warn him of danger. He flinched back to avoid a knife thrown his way. He turned to face the figure who had thrown the weapon at him, finding some mid rank pro heroine (Snagger if he remembered correctly).
"Hold it right there villain, I'm taking you in." she proclaimed in a most stereotypical manner. Midoriya just starred her down with a neutral face behind his simple mask. He calmly withdrew his blade from its sheath, the curve letting it reflect light from both the moon and the city below.
She pulled out two more knives and rushed him as a strange sphere enveloped the roof.
Shinsou just watched as Bakugou tore his way through the Quirk traffickers. His body had taken on the attributes of a Honey Badger and he used them to full effect.
"Oi Smokey, you want in on this?" he raised his voice in the middle of his brutal beatdown. "I'm fine you battle maniac." he replied while bashing the odd crook in the face with a stick.
He barely acknowledged the crook who snuck up behind him and swung at his neck with a razor Quirk. His instincts flaired up for a second before the blade sliced through his neck. The crook seemed smug for a moment before it turned to shook as her blades did nothing to him.
Whisps of smoke eminated from the area she had sliced before he raised his arm against her. A large cloud of smoke shot out from his arm and enveloped the crook. She couldn't even scream before she was slammed into the wall.
Bakugou appeared to be having a much easier time, his tenacity and ridiculous mobility allowing him to plow through whole groups of crooks with ease. Bullets failed to pierce his skin, any blade seemed to slide right off, and any bludgeon was shrugged off with little concern.
It wasn't long before they tore through the rest of the thugs and crooks. All that was left was the big boss.
A big boss who had their head shoved clean through the door.
A boy of similar age to them with a body made of pure diamond walked out of the villain's safe room with blood on his hands. He shot them a big grin (as much of a grin that can be made with a body of diamond) and nodded. "Got her guys, wasn't much of an issue." he said while walking towards them.
"Damnit Shiny, why'd you have to take her out? I wanted to fight her." Bakugou started jeering at his friend. "She was going to escape, I couldn't let that happen." he explained while Shinsou explored the safe room.
He found a hole the size of the diamond boy in the wall, a hole that was the first in a large series of holes that seemed to have punched through the whole facility.
"Did you guys even need me?" he asked while turning back to the pair. Both of them turned to him and shot him with deadpan stares. "Right, stupid question." he stated while investigating the files in the safe room.
Then he found the records of all their transactions.
"The Pro Heroine Snagger was found to be yet another victim of the villain Mad Doc. She was found on a roof top with her upper half attached to the AC unit while her legs were attached to the side of a Neon Sign located on the building. Her head was found wrapped in her signature scarf. Top Doctors were able to put her back together without any complications, but it may be weeks before she's on the scene again." The news castor spoke through the screen.
Denki just watched the news as he took a bite out of his burger, next to him Sero was finishing his fries. Both of them had their masks lifted just enough so that their mouths could eat unimpeded. "I tell you, the boss has not been messing around with heroes." Sero said as he took a sip of his drink. "I know man, wonder why they keep going after him if he just leaves then like that?" Denki put in his own two cents.
They remained silent for a second, then Denki spoke again.
"I tell you one thing, this new burger place makes great food.". Sero nodded; "I know right, the burger had great taste and moisture while the bun was just the right thickness.". "Don't get me started on the- Huh?" Denki was about to continue when he felt his instincts warn him of danger. "Huh, what dude?" Sero asked, his eyes slowly gaining understanding.
Neither bothered to dodge when a large staff of metal crashed into them, pinning them to the wall at their backs. Denki's body seemingly cut in half while Sero's body was crushed under the weight of it. The Heroine who had the large staff seemed to grow worried when she saw the condition of the two boys.
It was barely a moment later that Denki's body reformed with sparks of electricity shooting off of him. Sero followed suite as his head popped out and he took in a deep breath, his chest inflating with enough force to push the staff off him. The Heroine only locked in confusion before Denki put his hand on the staff and shouted.
"30,000 Voltage Shock.".
A bright light errupted from the staff before the heroine was shocked, neither boy under the staff showing any signs of affliction. The heroine just fell to her knees with smoke coming off her body. Sero calmly lifted the staff off him and stood up, Denki seemingly phasing through the metal weapon with odd jolts of electricity.
Sero sighed in disappointment as he dropped the staff. "You think they'd learn one day." he muttered. Denki just shook his head before heading back to what was left of his dinner. He picked up the ruined burger and groaned.
There was little doubt that these vigilantes were strange. All of them were male, yet they demonstrated abilities like Quirks with far less limitations. The elemental dodging from the likes of Volt and Smoked, the animalistic powers of Raven and Berseker, the bodily changes of Stretch and Riot, and whatever the hell their leader possesses (They call him Mad Doc but that name doesn't fit him).
There wasn't even any sort of evidence to how they got these powers. Had Afo possessed these Quirks he would never given them up. Had some doctor made them, they would all be villains rather than vigilantes.
It was a puzzle with no pieces to assemble.
At least, until he saw a boy with insane ice powers reminiscent of Volt and Smoker. The output of the element, the body turning into it, and the defensive powers carried with it.
It all pointed to him getting these powers the same way the vigilantes had.
He just had to ask the boy, this Shouto (no last name), about how he acquired these powers.
He was in a stalking mood today, the shifting wind and dust gathering around him were tell tale signs of it. Himiko just smiled as she saw Stain preparing himself to hunt the next batch. Shuichi was also preparing himself for the next hunt, his stake out gear being gathered in the main room.
She smiled knowing that whatever fool they were going after next would be a most horrid one.
Then a knock came to their door. Shuichi raised one of his swords while Stain let one of his arms turn into a blade of sand. Himiko let a blade of her own extend out of her hand and prepared to open the door.
Then the knock came in a sequence.
A sequence which means that it's not an enemy. Stain and Shuichi lowered their weapons while Himiko let the blade pull back into her skin. She opened the door and found a familiar head with bushy green hair atop it.
"Mido, you came. What you got for us boss?" she said excitedly. Midoriya walked through the door and raised a file for them. "I've got your next target, this hero has been extorting money from the red light districts in a protection racket. Doesn't help that they also have a grip on the local gangs and give them a cut of her profit." he explained as Himiko closed the door.
Stain nodded as he took the file from Midoriya. "Anything else you need from us?" he asked. Midoriya put a hand on his chin and hummed in thought. "After you take care of her we'll sweep up the gangs. So take a vacation when you're done." he said. "Got you boss." Shuichi chimed in.
"Alright, I'll be off. Any information I didn't give you will be in that file, read it well. And good luck." he said his goodbyes while leaving.
Stain started flicking through the file and glared at it. When he was finished he handed it to Shuichi and went to sharpen his katana. Soon it was Himiko's turn to read the file, and she understood why both boys were seething in rage.
She couldn't wait to cut the heroine up.
Touya just groaned as he listened to Shouto's explanation of the entrance exam. He pinched the bridge of his nose and groaned at his younger brother. "Why? Why did you even go through with it?" he asked. "I want to be a hero, that's why." Shouto shot back.
Touya stared his brother down. "But you risked revealing the reality of our powers, do you really think that UA will believe that you gained powers by eating a disgusting fruit?" he pointed out. "But Momo knows-" "Of course she knows, she had a front row seat to you eating that Ice fruit and freezing the room solid in panic." Touya interrupted.
"I don't care, you may think that you can only be a hero by working with the Guild but I'm going to be a hero on legal terms." Shouto shouted to his brother while Ice began st spread across his body. Touya responded by letting fire spread across his body.
They were getting close to fighting one another, then the door bell rang.
Both brothers just sighed before receding their powers. Touya approached the door and answered it, finding a small gift left on their doorstep. Touya let his instincts guide him and opened the box. There was no danger, just an address connected to UA.
He checked each item within the box; the letter, the key chain, the mug, and the two different sets of keys. "Would you look at that Shouto, you got in." he said to his brother with heavy annoyance in his voice. Shouto shot him a smug smile and tool the various gifts from the box.
He set the letter on the coffee table and opened it, a small disk falling out. It sprang to life and an image of Nedzu was projected by the disk. "Congratulations Shouto, not only did you break this generation's record for highest points in the entrance exam, but you also demonstrated something quite special to us. We would like to schedule a meeting as I know you are going to need to be shown all the necessary components of life at UA. So congratulations Shouto, this is your hero academia." the projection said before turning off.
Touya just glared as he considered how he could get away with burning down UA. Shouto just smiled as he gathered all the gifts up and went to his room.
It was then that Touya's phone rang. He checked the caller and answered it with little hesitation. "Hey boss, how's it going?" he said with slight worry. "Good. I heard Shouto got into UA and I want to give him congratulations." his boss said from the other end. "Really?" he asked. "Yes, it'll be a show when Shouto reveals just how we got our powers to Nedzu." his boss laughed to himself.
Touya just starred at the phone for a second and surpressed a twitch. "Could you run that by me again boss?" he asked. "I want Shouto to take a picture of Nedzu's face when he tells him how we got our powers. I want to see the chaotic fallout of it all. It will be amusing and throw the heroes off our tales for a while." he clarified. "Ok, just wanted to make sure boss. Have a good day." Touya said while ending the call in the middle of Midoriya's own goodbye.
He put the phone down, his face blank of emotions as he did so. He just stood there in silence for an unknown amount of time. When Shouto came out of his room, he just saw his brother in a near catatonic state. "Touya?" he asked while approaching his brother.
In that moment Touya responded, turning his head fast enough to get whiplash while he glared at Shouto. "The boss says congratulations, he also wants a photo of Nedzu's face when you tell him about the source of our powers." he says before walking to his room and closing the door.
Shouto could hear the sounds of Touya rabidly cursing and screaming in frustration. Shouto considered his older brother's words for a moment, then he started to sweat.
He didn't have Midoriya's number.
The Guild was currently in a state of wild division. Half of them were happy for Shouto, half were pissed off with him. Midoriya was leading the side that was happy for him while Bakugou let the other half.
"You seriously think it's a good thing? Loose lips sink ships and his lips are ready to sink us." Bakugou shouted while in his half form. Midoriya just starred down his long time friend and spoke; "It was bound to happen eventually, I just want it to be on our terms.". "Bullshit, this is just because of your pissing contest with Nedzu. You want to fuck with him, and he'll fuck us afterwards." Bakugou doubled down.
"He wants to he a legal hero, not grey heroes like us." Shinsou pointed out. "Yeah bro, it's super manly for him to make his own destiny." Kirishima chimed in. "Yeah." was the combined shout from both Denki and Sero.
"Its a danger to our identity, and our powers." Touya retorted "He'll be a liability if he reveals too much." Stain added in. "It'll be tough for him to make progress." Shuichi piled it on. "They'll strap him to a table and cut him open to see what makes him tick." Himiko spoke up.
The debate slowly turned more hostile as Tokoyami watched all this happen in his Raven form.
They only stopped when they heard police sirens and everyone scattered out of the warehouse.
Shouto walked through the halls of UA. It was honestly overwhelming for him to be here. He ignored the odd glance or the inquisitive look given by the teachers here.
Then he found himself face to face with Nedzu.
It was awkward for him at first as neither were willing to start the conversation.
"So Shouto, would you like to tell me how you got those powers of yours?" Nedzu asked while the door seemed to locked behind him. Shouto didn't even sweat as he stealth fully activated his phones camera and prepared for the image of a life time.
He breathed deeply and closed his eyes, suppressing his stress. He opened them again and spoke with a neutral tone.
"My powers came the day I ate a horrible fruit with patterns like ice.".
I swear its here. I got it done and I hope you all enjoy this chapter.
I only used one non cannon devil fruit but it still worked out in the end.
