Chapter 4
First game after summer was tonight and after winning the debate, Elena was happy that the worse was behind her. Tonight she would actually enjoy herself. Of course after cheering.
Caroline was putting them through her gruelling routine and after studying so much for the debate team, Elena considered physical exhaustion like a breather. She knew why Caroline was putting so much energy into exercise. Her hot and cold dynamic with Stefan Salvatore was making her go cuckoo.
He had promised to be here before the game started and now it was going to start.
"Okay guys, let's repeat the circuit." The blonde called out.
Bonnie gave Elena the 'I am going to kill her look.' So, Elena stepped forward to face Caroline's cheer captain wrath for the sake of other girls, "Care, we have to perform, the girls are going to be too tired after this whole Jane Fonda on repeat."
Caroline who was already doing high jumping jacks paused, "You guys are way too lazy! Not everyone can be a cheerleader Elena, so if you don't have what it takes, walk off now."
Elena's brows raised, she walked closer to Caroline and whispered, "Care you're making it way too obvious. Why are you going crazy over him?"
Caroline bit the inside of her cheek as she turned around from the rest of the girls and held Elena's wrist taking her to the side, "I made a mistake."
"What do you mean?" Elena asked.
She pursed her lips, she leaned down slightly and whispered as if it were a secret, "You know Tyler took me on a date right? So then he pulled out this whole rom-com thing with me. He says he's crazy about me and I might have invited him out tonight too after the game."
"So both Stefan and Tyler?"
She nodded, "I like Stefan, but Tyler likes me. You know what they say, choose the one who wants you but then what about-"
Elena head started spinning with Caroline's riddle, "Well then it's fine because Stefan isn't here yet and Tyler is playing on the team so he would hardly get the chance to do anything."
"I am dating two people at one school. It's so risky and it's making me pluck out my eyebrows." She screeched, "I know I act like nothing is wrong but I've been taking it out on you girls."
Elena chuckled, "Oh yeah super subtle."
After Caroline calmed down a bit, Elena went back to her stretches too, shaking her head at the thought of Caroline bringing two dates to prom.
"Babe." Elena heard Matt's voice from behind her, he was in his uniform, "Hey, how are you doing?" Elena asked getting up and kissing his cheek, he seemed excited but in a very confident way. He handed her a water bottle, "You better drink up your fluids because I am taking you out tonight."
Elena raised her brows as he held her chin, "And damn it but I won't take no for an answer."
"I will go out with you on one condition." She pushed her finger against his chest playfully and scrunched her nose, "You have to take a shower first."
Matt rolled his eyes, "Ugh High maintenance." Elena slapped his chest as he went back towards the ground. Before she could get back to practicing , Caroline screeched by her side, "Oh my god, Stefan is here." She was clutching Elena's arm so tight, she thought the Blonde would leave marks, Elena looked over her shoulder to see where Caroline was pointing at, Stefan parked his car near the practice ground and hopped out, wearing jeans and a brown shirt that stretched over his muscles perfectly.
"Hey, sorry I am late." He directed it at Caroline. He took off his sunglasses, working his emerald green eyes magic on Caroline.
Elena squeezed Caroline's hand, "Stefan, we are practicing, game is going to start so why don't you hang by the bleachers."
"The game isn't for another forty minutes."
"I know, but we need practice and Caroline is leading us so shoo." She dismissed him like a child.
"Why don't we let her decide?" Stefan said with a raised brow as he held his hand out for Caroline, "Don't you think we both should hang by the bleachers?" He winked at the Blonde.
Elena let out an exhausted sigh as Caroline let go of her and went with Stefan. She went back to Bonnie and sat down, "I don't like him."
"Of course you don't, he shares DNA with your boyfriend." Bonnie still hadn't let go of the jokes she made about Damon and her. Elena picked up the bottle Matt had given her as she scoffed, "Hmm speaking of , I actually share DNA with your child bride."
Bonnie cringed, "I don't like Jeremy, he's like – nine."
Elena laughed, "Then tell him that!"
"I've tried but he's just infatuated with me, and it doesn't feel half bad to be worshipped by a geeky loser sometimes."
"Ah, my poor brother is just a prop to you. You're such an ice queen." Elena accused, Bonnie shrugged, "He knows what he was getting into."
...
..
As soon as Stefan and Caroline were under the benches, she started getting nervous seeing Tyler in the near distance, practicing an offence. She chewed on her lip with her hand on the bottom of the benches. "You seem wound up." Stefan observed, putting his hands around her hips, she shuddered and pushed him away, seemingly playful, "Okay- at least take me to dinner first."
He chuckled, "You know I don't do public." Wrapping his arm around her waist, he pressed a kiss to the back of her neck, Caroline took a deep breath as she turned her face towards him. Her palm cupped his jaw as she pressed her lips to his. As they kissed she felt Stefan's hand moving up her thigh to under her skirt. With a squeal she pushed against him, "You know what? This is a little too much for someone who hasn't texted me back for two days."
He shrugged, "My screen broke, I couldn't text."
"Don't lie to me. You've probably made that excuse with some other dumb girl around here who believed it or pretended to. But I do know what that actually means. It means when my clothes are on, you're no longer interested in me." She said as she put her bag over her shoulder and glared at him, "And I don't deserve this."
Stefan let out a sigh in exhaustion, "What do you expect me to do? Get a limo with a just married sign in the back?"
"No, cause that would be setting a revolutionary precedence. You can't care less or you'd take me on a date after the game like Matt is with Elena before your hands were anywhere near my underwear." She said as she walked away
He snickered following her, "Oh the pathological liar jock who is busy getting on the side while making the poor girl think he's a virgin?" well he was going to tell her one way or another.
Caroline turned around sharply, pointing a finger at him, "Don't say shit about my best friends."
"Why would I need to when they are the one full of crap." He spat, "You look like you can talk it out of April Young, she'll give you a very clear reality check about your Matt Donovan standard. If that's what the world has come to." He huffed and left the grounds.
Caroline stood their with balled fists, feeling stupid, angry and obviously betrayed for herself and her childhood friend Elena.
...
..
"Go Timberwolves!" The girls cheered as the two girls in the front tumbled. Then backing into their original position to dance and do chants.
"Hey! What is with you?" Sarah Black hissed at Caroline when she failed to coordinate. The Blonde's blue eyes were on her friend Elena who was doing their dance routine.
Her best friend who had done so much for her, whom she knew since they were in diapers was getting cheated on by her Paddington bear like boyfriend. He was not kind, he was not loyal. He was cruel. He was a liar. She couldn't take it.
"Elena! I can't do this." She squealed getting out of her spot. Bonnie gasped as Caroline rushed to her, "You have to come here."
She dragged Elena back, away from the seats. "Caroline, what the hell are you doing!? Are you crazy? This is not the time to talk about Tyler or Stefan! Everyone is watching." She rambled.
She couldn't take it anymore.
"MATT'S CHEATING ON YOU!"
Elena stopped mid way in her rant, her eyes widened slightly and her face looked expressionless like she had heard something that just couldn't be true.
"Matt?"
"He's sleeping with April Young, she told me after I asked her." Caroline's voice calmed down, Elena swallowed thick as she looked around the crowded ground. Matt was engaged in the game. They were close to winning.
"Matt can't cheat on me." She found herself saying even though she didn't intend to, "He loves me."
"I am sorry, Elena." Caroline cupped the side of her face. Her skin had went fully cold, she was in shock, it was like some had ripped her safety net apart. Losing all control was unfamiliar to her because she kept things under control. She couldn't be one of those girls who would find excuses for cheating, yet she couldn't think of letting Matt go.
...
Damon was bored out of his mind at the game, Stefan had texted him that he told Blondie and wanted his money. Damon knew that at any moment Caroline was going to explode, he really wanted to pin a microphone on her when that happened.
He did see her taking April from the audience thirty minutes ago very roughly and talking to her. He could see the it was all brewing.
"Interested?" a man next to him asked. Ebony eyes, friendly face but a bit of an edge to him and he looked like he was in his early thirties.
"This?" He gestured towards the ground where the teams were playing football.
"Yeah, you look like you can play, yet you are here in the benches." The man said
Damon narrowed his eyes to which the man chuckled, "Alaric Saltzman, history teacher."
"Hmm I've been here most of the time and I don't know if there is an Alaric Saltzman at this school."
"Because I started Tuesday." He pointed towards the game, "So if your attitude towards this game is so condescending, why are you here?"
Damon snickered, "Supporting the boys."
"Hmm well you don't seem like a supportive person."
"Ah, aren't you suppose to believe in me as a teacher?" He asked Alaric to which the man scoffed, "I am paying my student loans, I don't want to believe in jack shit."
Damon shook his head, "The world really isn't what Disney wanted me to believe."
Alaric lightly pat his shoulder, "Something tells me you'll get over it."
"Damon Salvatore. " Damon said shaking his hand, "Ah, Salvatore, the school sponsor."
Damon smirked, "We'll try our best to pay off your student loans."
..
..
A roar from the audience lit up the grounds. Elena knew the game was over but she was standing there with Caroline , feeling like she couldn't move a muscle.
"Are you okay?" Caroline asked a bit worried. Elena looked up from the ground with tears in her eyes, "No, I am not okay. You expect me to be fine with this? This might be gossip to you but it really fucking stings."
"I don't care about any gossip, Elena. I am looking out for you. Can you seriously not see that?" Caroline held her arms, Elena pulled away from her, "I have to go talk to Matt." She said as she walked towards the circle where the boys were celebrating. Her eyes were red, cheeks hot, her walk was getting fiercer and she felt furious.
How could he lie to her face everyday, to think she felt so guilty about not spending enough time with him.
"Matt!" she shouted to get attention between the violent celebration, blinded by rage, she didn't even notice the swarms of people around her.
"Babe, hey-" He approached her, Elena signalled with her finger for him to stay put, "Is it true? About you and April?"
"What?" his face turned red, redder than when he played football.
"You heard me." She yelled.
He pursed his lips, staying silent a moment too long as if his biggest secret had finally come to surface and he couldn't run away anymore, "Yes."
"Yes?" she asked breathlessly as she walked closer, "You thought I'd never find out? How could you-"
He spat, "It was over a year ago Elena. You and I were hardly one month in."
"No Matt, we've been in it for years! You know that. You've been my date to every dance. You might have asked me out in front of them last year but we've been going out since you moved to this town. Don't deny it."
Tears were forming in her eyes again, she wanted to stay strong so she kept them back, "You've said you love me everyday since I help you build that tree house that all your friends thought was a waste of time. You can't just tell someone you love them for eight years only to say we were one month in when you cheated on me."
He took a deep sigh, "So what was I suppose to do? Should I wait for you everyday while you choose every little project over me. I do love you Elena. But if you remember you refused to go on vacation with me because you were building houses in some dump that month. All you want is to please every Mr & Mrs Privilege in this town to and eventually find your way to some known college. What has become of you?, you're their puppet."
She sucked up her tears and stood firm, "Because I am not a football player who has a sports scholarship in his back pocket. What do you even know about hard work? All you know is cheating on me and then having the audacity to accuse me of being a lousy girlfriend when you're a cheater! And even worse, a liar." She felt humiliated as she shouted back at him and ran out of there.
"Elena stop-" He called after her but she wouldn't.
...
..
Elena knew she wasn't suppose to be here at the school especially when there wasn't anyone here.
Yet she was in one of the classrooms and sitting against the wall. Her phone was in her lap and she was looking down at a picture of her and Matt, from years ago after they had ice cream with Caroline and Bonnie, Caroline's mom had taken a picture of them too. Elena remembered back then she used to blush when he'd hold her hand, or put his arm around her. Now it all seemed so stupid, like two nine year olds in their puppy love stage.
She gasped when the door to the classroom opened, she held her phone up and cringed when she saw the last person she wanted to. Damon Salvatore.
How did he even find her here?
She quickly wiped her tears, "Leave me alone. Please." She said irritated.
He knew he would find her here crying on her own. Elena Gilbert never cried in public, she always put on her best face and dealt with it but he didn't want the Elena everyone saw. He wanted to see the side where she was unable to construct a whole other face. Where she was crying, messy, emotional- probably the worst and beaten down version of her self.
"Fresh wounds? Hate to say I told you so." Actually he loved saying it. Nothing brought him more satisfaction than being right. He sat down next to her. Elena didn't have any strength to move, she pursed her lips looking the other way, "Yes you did. Can you please gloat somewhere else?"
"No. I have no where else I'd rather gloat." He sighed sitting back against the wall. Elena put her hands on her face, "Please." Her voice broke a little, "I don't want to cry in front of you."
Damon's heart twisted a little with her whimper, she leaned forward putting her face on her palms as she shook slightly, "Or anyone."
He felt like he had earned it, she told him no one would ever love him and here she was all alone, he wouldn't deny that a part of him was really enjoying owning Elena's tears. But then a really small portion of his heart felt protective of her.
She felt his hands on her back, slightly stroking her hair, "Hey. I am not here to gloat. Now don't get me worried about you." He spoke in a low voice, Elena looked over her shoulder, her face was shining with tears, her hair were sticking around her face and her mascara was smudged around her eyes. Far from her usual perfect but he couldn't get enough of her face when it was like this.
"Matt cheated on me." She whispered.
"I know."
"I always thought the things you said about me were just to get me angry, because he loved me so much, but you were right-"
"No I wasn't." Damon rolled his eyes, "Are you seriously blaming yourself right now? That is not you."
"I don't know what's me." She broke into tears, "Certainly whatever I am, I am not worth it."
Damon huffed as he gave up, getting slightly ahead, he put his arms around her and she froze only for a second before hiding her face in his chest, her back was tense but as he pat her back slowly, she let go, crying against his shirt. "I am tired, exhausted- but I pretend that I am not. I want to say no to volunteering but I can't, I can't research long hours with no sleep but I can't stop saying yes when teachers ask me. When did I become such a fake? I am always angry, and tired, I always need to be somewhere- my head is full of schedules and to-do lists. I lost him, the only person who wanted me, for me."
She couldn't stop talking, or even hugging him. Her body was completely ignoring the instinctive repulsion she usually felt around him.
"You're not a fake." He commented.
"Really?" Elena pulled back, holding her phone up, "Then who was she? The girl whose only problem used to be which flavour to pick at the ice-cream shop and her best friend whom she wanted to marry one day would let her have his sundae when she regretted her choice of a chocolate overload." Elena shook her head, "Now that little boy is lying to her and cheating on her. That wasn't how we were suppose to turn out, Damon."
He bit the inside of his cheek as Elena sniffled, "I used to love him, and it seems like I forgot. But I always thought he would never which made me feel so safe . And yet he did too. So easily." Her head slowly rested against his shoulder.
"That's not the end of the world, Elena. Trust me." He spoke gently, one of his hands reached to wipe the tears from her cheeks, "No one is the person they were- at six years old."
"Nine." Elena said with a sigh.
"Urgh that's his face at nine." He feigned surprise. Elena gloomy eyes looked down at the picture, "He reminded me of that time. I always thought we'd go back to it whenever I wanted but it's gone. He's gone."
"You can't live in the past, it's comfortable but it's the same person you worked to grew out of." Damon said taking the phone from her lap and putting it aside, "Now if you don't like you now, obviously you're in charge and you can make the changes you want."
"Yeah." She murmured,"Do you miss being nine?"
"Oh yes, my dad hired a nanny for Stefan when he was born and by the time I turned nine, the super hot nanny-"
Elena interrupted, "Please I don't want to know more, even if its you- its inappropriate if there is a literal nine year old."
"See this is your problem." Damon laughed, "You just make that face like everything disgusts you and you're better than the whole world."
"I hope I am better than you." She exclaimed pulling away from his shoulder. Her tears that had stained his shirt were getting cold, he instantly missed her warm face pressed against his chest."
"Yes, you are better than me. Happy? Miss holier than thou." He mocked.
"Damon, can we just take a little break and not be each others throats today." Before he could open his mouth she quickly added, "And don't you dare make a blow job joke."
He snapped his mouth shut. "Fine, God you're no fun."
"I am just not your brand of fun." She objected, "My brand of fun?" He narrowed his eyes. Elena nodded, "Yeah your kind of fun is you being disgusting, mean, offensive and kind of evil."
"Damn, you know me so well." He said sarcastically.
"Don't I? Tell me something I got wrong?" she challenged.
"Like a secret?"
"Surprise me." She said in an exaggerated tone.
He fell quiet, sitting back against the wall as if he were thinking, "I was shot three years ago."
Elena thought he was joking until he didn't say anything else to add to it. She looked his way, "What?"
He nodded, his hand went to his black shirt under his jacket, sliding it up till it revealed a bullet wound, that appeared in a dark round shape on his chest right where his heart was.
"How did this happen?"
He shrugged, "Oh you know what happens when you have a rich dad who is kind of a jerk. People don't like you or your dad."
Elena gasped as she reached to touch his skin. He didn't interrupt as she softly inspected it. "Its a cardiac wound, you must have been critical."
"Yeah that's what they told me after I got up from my coma." He laughed. Elena glared at him before looking back at his wound, "Why would they shoot you? Didn't you ask your Dad?"
"He says it was a threat to back off from some merger." Damon lowered his shirt down.
Elena pulled her hands away, "Were you scared?"
His jaw tightened slightly, it was pathetic that this was the first time someone had asked him that, "For a second yes. Blood was shooting out of my body and I could feel the fear leaving me with each drop. I thought if I lived I'd never be scared again and here I am."
She wanted to know what that felt like, did he really not fear anymore. Having such a close experience with death sounded so traumatic but the way he acted about it seemed like a rite of passage of some kind.
"I don't know how that feels like, I am always afraid, to be replaced, to end up alone, to not be good enough." She murmured not even knowing why she was telling him all this, she hated him and yet he knew somethings about her that other people didn't. "Well that means you're alive and human. I've never seen someone as alive as you. Take it from someone who was almost dead."
She smiled slightly, he pulled out something from his jacket pocket and she narrowed her eyes looking at it.
"Is that a joint?" she shrieked.
"Damn, you're a complete square." He said as he got a lighter out. "Come on, it's kind of a break though night, you're letting go of the jock, I really want to smoke this."
She groaned as he lit it and took a hit from it, Elena shook her head at him.
"Baby, you're eyes are going to get stuck back there if you keep rolling them so often." He scoffed.
"Damon, you're doing drugs on school premises." She spat.
He mocked, "Oh really mom? Am I doing drugs? Should I keep my crack cocaine hidden in with all the other bad drug stuff I have in my drug bag."
"This is illegal and a disrespect to our school." She squealed.
"Do you want a hit?" He offered.
Elena seemed baffled, then she looked down to the thin rolled up joint and slowly took it from his hand, she sat back as she mimicked his actions and tried to enjoy the herb-like smell. Within a few silent minutes she felt a bit different, somehow calmer, yet anxious. Her mouth was slightly dry, but other than that she felt normal.
"Do you want me to take you home?" He asked her after a while.
Elena looked at him like he was insane, her mouth opened to release smoke, "I can't go home this way. The last thing my parents need is a second stoner."
He chuckled at her, "So much judgement yet here you are sucking it up till nothing is left of it."
"I don't think I can fall further than this, it's only up from here." She huffed as she threw the burnt out piece of it left and turned towards him.
"Matt really did a number on you." Damon said in a disappointed tone, "You had more fire than this, Gilbert."
"So I wasn't uptight and insufferable?" she asked.
He pursed his lips, "Well, you can be at times, but we all know you have way too much passion which makes the insufferableness negligible."
Elena couldn't believe this all was real, she was having a good time with Damon Salvatore? He was making her feel better? Making her feel adequate?
It was probably the first time she found herself slightly attracted towards him. His blue eyes and dark raven hair were making her heart beat fast. Its like a coin flipped and she couldn't feel disgusted by the idea of being in five feet vicinity of him anymore.
Her body ignored the alarming signals from her brain inching closer to him, Damon cupped the side of her face when her lips were merely a breath away. "I am not going to kiss you, unless you do first." He said in a husky voice.
It didn't matter anymore, slowly she closed her eyes capturing his top lip with both hers, tugging softly at it before pulling back. She let her lips brush against his, they felt soft and Elena couldn't help moan when he kissed her back, though he plunged his tongue in her mouth. Sensually and slowly as If unwrapping candy, his tongue rolled around hers.
She opened her mouth for him, cupping his neck with her hand and her other one reaching to grab on to his hair. He couldn't get enough of her, her soft swollen lips tugging and brushing against his, her sweet tongue rolling against his, her soft gasps and sighs were all for him. But her kisses weren't all sweet, they were tainted with anger and revenge and that's what made them addictive.
She pulled away after some moments looking at him with wide 'I can't believe that' eyes. Their faces were still close but Elena moved away with red cheeks. Not only embarrassed but disturbed with herself. Her mind was a fog right now and the best she could do was act like it didn't happen.
..
..
Her head was pounding but so was the door to the classroom, Elena opened her eyes slightly to see it was already morning, she gasped as she sat up from against the wall, Damon's leather jacket was around her shoulders and she was holding his hand. Elena gritted her teeth at the scene and woke him up by pulling her hand back and shoving him aside so hard that he hit the ground , "What the hell, Damon, we spent the night here?"
"You wouldn't get up." He said groggily.
Elena shrieked when the door opened with a harsh push and the doors hit the wall.
"What are you doing here?" Alaric Saltzman entered the room.
"In my classroom, on a Saturday."
Elena slowly stood up, "I-I" she stuttered.
Damon groaned getting up "Nothing."
"Then why was the door locked?" the man questioned him now.
Elena spat, "You locked the door?"
"It was cold, I was tired and I gave you my jacket Miss 90 pounds!" he shouted back.
"Mr-Sir. I am not at fault here, I was here alone until he showed up to harass me. You can ask anyone, he's always trying to piss me off." She glared at Damon.
"You aren't suppose to be here when class is not in session." Alaric pointed it out for her, Elena's face went pale, "Actually I was- I had a very-"
It was painfully awkward watching Elena swell up like a balloon.
"Oh come on Mr. Saltzman. Its not that big of a deal." Damon shrugged, "Besides If you want to keep the nerds from a rebellion then forgive her."
"Damon!" Elena warned him.
Alaric walked closer, he bent slowly and picked up something of a ground, "Now, both of you don't know who smoked this too, right?"
"It's his! I don't smoke Mr Saltzman. And I told him that smoking that on school premises-" she didn't even look Damon's way.
Before she could start again, Alaric stopped her, "You can leave with your bag." He dismissed Elena. " Mr Salvatore, I want to see you on Monday." He added.
..
..
Elena had practically ran out of her school and not even looked at Damon. Last night had truly been her low. As soon as she got home, she snuck upstairs and took a shower to wash off all her shame.
Then she got in bed, unable to blink as she thought about last night, her phone was full of text messages and calls from Matt, Caroline and Bonnie, even her other friends.
Her heart was racing at the thought of them knowing where she was all night long, with Damon. She acted like a delinquent, she even kissed him. Why would she kiss him? Slapping the side of her head she cursed, "You're so stupid."
Of course he was going to tell everyone that. Wasn't he?
She would deny it. Its the best she could come up with. By sunset, she called Bonnie, "Can you come over? I need to talk to you."
Elena was so anxious about Monday that she needed advice right now. Bonnie didn't ask any follow up questions like Caroline would and showed up within an hour.
As soon as they stepped inside her room, Elena held both her hands and said it, "I kissed Damon."
"What? Wait- how in the-"
She pulled away, going towards her bed and holding her pillow, "I don't know, okay. He found me at school and I don't know- he did something to me."
"He drugged you?" Bonnie asked with wide eyes, Elena groaned, "No! He didn't drug me, I wish he drugged me so I'd have an excuse."
"Come on Elena, tell me what happened " Bonnie's green eyes twinkled with excitement and Elena cringed as she sat down on the bed, "Well I really wanted to cry after what happened, and there he was. I just broke down in front of him and he kind of consoled me through it. Then I just- seemed to forget how much I don't like him."
"So you like him."
"No." She said as quickly as she could, "I don't like him. I was just- Matt completely tore me down and I was at my worst. I felt destructive and maybe that all fused together. But now I just know he won't ever let me live this down." Bonnie raised a brow at her, "You can just deny it, who will ever believe him?"
"He doesn't care whatever anyone thinks as long as he knows it happened. I know him, he's going to make me regret being alive." Elena looked away, feeling tensed, "Matt's been calling me all day, I know he's going to make a big gesture out of Apologizing, but I don't think I can go back."
"You think? Elena I know we all have been thinking about you and him as this constant couple but it didn't work out. He cheated on you, just let it go." Bonnie said cupping her arm.
Elena bit her lip as if thinking about it, "He was always in my plan, Bon. I don't know what I am going to do without him. I just feel lost. I don't even know myself right now."
"I can see that, so you need to let me know before you do something super out of the Elena box. Don't play with fire. And Damon is actual fire." She warned, Elena lied down in her bed and huffed, she could remember every moment from last night, she could even remember the feeling of being so naive that she actually believed the things he said, that feeling of letting go. But it all came at a price of giving up her control.
..
...
Damon was seated in front of Alaric, usually he didn't like being at school on Monday, that too so early in the morning. Alaric cleared his throat with a cough, "Look, I know you're not getting suspended let alone expelled from this place because of your father but I've been given the discipline duties here so I need to look out for these sort of things."
Damon huffed sitting back in his chair, "So we stayed back at school, it's not like we stole anything."
"Yes but this doesn't excuse you from your behaviour, I am not going to let you act out this way. I went over your record and it's not so good." He gestured towards the file on his desk, "No participation in sports or school events, your grades are hardly acceptable and then the countless discipline violations. The absentees are more than your attendance. You won't get into any college this way."
"Great, thanks for your concern. Can I leave?" He didn't wait for Alaric to say anything and got up, "Sit down. You can leave but than I'll have no choice to go to the principal and tell them about Miss Gilbert's involvement. She won't be able to get out of this."
Alaric grinned as he saw Damon slightly confused and a bit reined in with this threat. He slowly sat back down, looking irritated.
"Good. Now that it's out of the way, so what can you do for me, Mr. Salvatore?"
Damon rolled his eyes, "What do you want?"
"I took the liberty and have signed you up for some extracurricular activities. This way we can get you interested in school." Alaric passed him a page from the file, "You're participating in everything, no audition or trial needed, with my recommendation."
Damon looked down at the page with a disgusted face, was it really worth it?
..
...
Elena was tip-toeing around school. So far there hadn't been any wild fire about her kissing Damon. Just the same old news about her and Matt.
She went towards her locker and put her books in slowly, avoiding the eyes peeling into her head, when she closed her locker, a gasp left her mouth seeing Damon standing right there. "Hello Mrs Donovan."
She hit his arm with her book, "You scared me, and don't call me that!"
Damon mimicked her, "Mr Saltzman, he shoved a joint in my mouth and I am the pure angel descended from heaven." He said in a high pitch voice.
Elena looked away, slightly embarrassed at his impression of her, "Okay, but getting in trouble isn't a big deal for you."
He put a paper on top of her books, "Except I am not suspended, I am in hell!"
Elena looked down at the paper and her eyes widened slightly.
Drama club, football, student body government.
The list went on.
She looked up at him and shrugged, "So what? This is good for you."
"Oh no no." He waved his finger at her, backing her into her locker, "This is good for you, this is agony for me." His face moved closer and Elena swallowed thick as he whispered, "You think you can just mess with me like this and I'd let you?"
"I didn't ask you to come into that classroom!" she said with gritted teeth.
"But you wanted me to stay, if you didn't, you wouldn't kiss me the way you did." He smirked slightly, Elena's face went pale as she looked up at him with parted lips, his eyes were focused on her quivering lower lip. He could hear her fast breaths, feel it on his face, "I- I don't know what you're talking about."
"Really? Want me to show you how it went?" He leaned slightly lower, his lips hovering above hers, Elena swallowed thick, strangely tempted for him to demonstrate. She couldn't deny it, he had kissed her like no one else, so careful yet reckless. Just with the way he had kissed her she knew he was wildfire. It had been the first time in her life that she had felt attracted to someone else other than Matt.
Her musings about his the feel and taste of his lips were interrupted by hearing other footsteps and everything clicked back into reality. She pushed against him, "That never happened, this will never happen! You know why? Because I am above that. Good for you to get something out of me when I was down, desperate and at my worst. That's all you'll ever be, my lowest point."
He clutched her wrist, pulling her back to him, "We both know that you only pretend to be better than everyone. But what you really are is a sad little people pleaser who cries herself to sleep if she isn't tired from the chores of the day already." He let her hand go and went the opposite way, leaving her enraged.
She looked down at the page he left. Well if it weren't fortunate that she was on most of these clubs, perfect. Now she could ruin his life any day of the week and she'd start today.
A/N: hello lovely readers. I hope you liked the chapter but I have some news, I am getting surgery soon so maybe I will be slow in my posts, but I will come back to this story if my surgery goes successful hopefully and I wish to complete this story for you. My current plan for this story is 15-20 chapters and its gonna be a slow burn. I am reading your reviews and it's making me so happy.
Next chapter will be Damon joining the school social clubs where the government is mostly Elena Gilbert. Boy, now how would that not turn into a battlefield?
Write a Review to get me motivated and follow my twitter at @nosweetendings so I can keep you updated about the chapters plus some random Delena stuff there.
