This game was not of his choosing. Damon Salvatore didn't like to be out of options. No girl affected him to the point where she was all he could think about. He was deliberating between making himself another drink or simply downing the bottle from his father's stash when Stefan sauntered into the parlour, "Hey you're drinking the High-end liquor without me?"

His voice was half complaint, half a chuckle as he sat down next to Damon on the stool. "What's got you so upbeat? Back on drugs again?" He said running his hand exhaustively through his hair.

"No. I actually got Caroline to agree to go on a date with me."

"I thought she had a boyfriend."

"Well, it's more of a date for me and a hangout thing for her. It's all because of you, I put my bet on you and Elena and then we saw you guys together the other night." He went on.

Damon rolled his eyes as Stefan patted his shoulder, "I guess you were right about me not being completely over her but I just want to see how things go. So thank you again Mr. Casanova."

"I think it's a bad idea. Elena and all her friends are the epitome of mixed signals." Damon slurred his words indicating he was on the road to being insanely drunk, "You're always going to feel like there could be something but then bam! She's back to screwing with your head and when you do the same, you become this monster who hurt her. Why should I care that I hurt her?" he hissed.

Stefan's brows raised, indeed his brother was embarrassingly drunk, that too after school, but he couldn't help feel bad about it, "Come on, let me take you upstairs, If Dad saw you crying over a girl he's going to spit in our faces for the next five years."

Damon chuckled humourlessly, "I am not crying- she was crying. She said I was a dick to her, that I am a man-whore while she's the one keeping Matt and Elijah on her leash. If we are not suppose to mean anything to each other then she's not suppose to cry about me being a dick now, is she?"

"Woah, I gotta give it to this girl for making you all chick-flicky. Now come on, time for bed." He dragged Damon upstairs who was clutching on to his bottle.

...

..

Life sucked at Mystic Falls High as it was but today it was even worse because he had a hangover. He thought of skipping but Alaric had given him so many practice sets plus not to forget Elijah gave him his seat as president for the week.

When his phone buzzed with a message from Luke Parker, he groaned seeing the 'Theatre alert'

Damon was not in the mood to play Elena's closeted husband. Fuck that. He didn't even want to look at her.

"What's this?" Alaric was standing outside his physics class when it was over.

"What?"

"This. The whole set is filled with mistakes. You didn't even bother checking?" he asked with a hiss.

Damon squinted his eyes as he looked at the set quizzes. They were all marked with Alaric's red pen.

He rubbed his weary eyes, "Uh god, I was drunk when I solved half of them. Actually all of them."

"Aren't you 19?"

"Come on Mr. Saltzman, we both know I drink. Look, tell you what, I'll skip theatre and do it all again."

Alaric noticed the crinkle in Damon's forehead at the mention of theatre, he knew the boy detested extracurricular activities.

"No its fine. You're staying after school for the council so you'll work on your sets. And don't skip theatre." He warned as he handed him the sets with a glare.

Damon cursed him as he headed for the cafeteria, he needed to get something in his system to soak his liquor overload from last night, today sucked.

Once he got into the crowded high-school hierarchy room, he spotted his class mates by a table in the centre. He trudged the distance from the door to the table, shoving multiple juniors on his way aside.

Klaus was sitting on the bench with Mason and Dylan, just downing the cafeteria jail food.

"School royalty finally has time for us." Klaus snickered when he saw Damon who sat down on the bench. He picked up a sandwich and shoved the bread into his mouth, "Yeah I figured my army of detention germs would miss me if I ever gone too long."

Mason rolled his eyes, "Oh we wish death on you after your student council dictatorship. And by we, I mean me!"

"You went around with a bunch of posters, you did nothing." He scoffed. "But you're right, I hate the council."

"Why? Isn't my sister keeping you entertained?" Klaus said with a scrunched up face, "Bastard."

"Look if I could have it my way, Elijah would come back this instant." Damon said firmly, Klaus huffed, "Elijah, God- he's driving me insane. You shouldn't have given him hope for his stupid project, he's so nutty now. And on a different note, he's gone completely deranged because he asked for 10,000 dollars today."

"What?" Damon was shocked, he did ask Elijah to work on his project but should a demonstration take this much money?

"Yeah."

"I need to talk to him." Damon muttered writing a quick text to the guy.

Mason interrupted his wild train of thoughts when he said the one word Damon didn't want to hear, "Would you look at that? Elena Gilbert pulling a courtside wife with that resin Donovan."

Klaus made a choking sound, "Urgh does it mean another 'Miss pom-poms confrontation on field' is coming our way because our dear Donovan is a nasty mate."

Damon bitterly looked at the couple that was a few tables away with the usual group of football friends of Matt.

She was laughing because apparently Donovan was funny now. What was this girl doing? Joking around, eating French fries, being so fucking stupid with the guy who made her look like a fool.

But maybe he was the fool for even letting her affect him this deeply. For finding every smile nauseating, for looking at every look they shared with disdain. This cannot be possible, Elena could never take such a huge 180 degree turn. He clearly remembered how much she wanted him, all he needed was to remind her.

...

..

First step to making her admit was getting her alone but how could he? She was always surrounded by her friends. If not, Matt would be attached to her like an extra limb.

Even when Damon got to theatre club, he was there, talking to her and holding her hands.

Elena was wearing a cold shoulder printed dark blue dress today, her hair were open and flowing down her back, she was looking more girly than usual and Damon definitely approved of the sweetheart look. Obviously she had put effort into it. What he didn't like was her ugly accessory- Matt Donovan.

Was he her boyfriend again?

Luke got everyone's attention by clapping in the middle of the room, "Okay people. Now that everyone's in attendance." He said glaring at Damon for a second.

"We can start with our watch. So before we get into performance, I've arranged a viewing of the musical. I would encourage you all to take notes because even though our version would be a modern retelling, we need the mannerisms to be the same."

Damon interrupted just for the sake of annoying Luke, "If it's a modern retelling then why does my boyfriend end up with an STD storyline?"

Kai too chimed in, "And if he's my boyfriend, how does he not have an STD?"

Damon turned his head towards him and shrugged, "Because you cheated on me bitch."

"Luke, if he calls me 'bitch' one more time, I am out." Kai warned.

From the corner of his eyes, Damon could see Elena laughing at the exchange.

"Woah, no need to throw a bitch fit, bitch." He said it anyway making Kai stomp and throw his hands in the air with anger, "That's it, I am out of here."

Luke cried out, "Shut up all of you! And sit down for the viewing. If anyone of you ruins my masterpiece I will ruin your yearbook pictures because I am best friends with the school photographer."

Kai helplessly took a seat. The rest of the group begin sitting down on the random seats in different rows of the auditorium area.

Damon saw Matt heading for where Elena was sitting and using her phone.

He quickly went from the opposite stairs, good thing she was on his side because he leapt over a row and ended up in the seat next to her. Elena looked up from her phone at him and gasped.

"Tell him to go away or I tell him all about the locker room." Damon murmured darkly. She didn't even get a minute to register what just happened and what he was talking about.

That's when Matt reached them, "Elena, what is going on?" he was so confused about why she was sitting with Damon.

Her mouth opened and closed as she tried to process what just happened and then she realised Damon's threat.

Normally, she wouldn't care but Caroline was here and she had seen her and Damon together so if any whiff of even unbelievable news got out Elena was convinced Caroline would find out and spill it through out school.

"Its fine Matt, I need to talk to him about something on the council." Elena forced a smile on her lips and acted like it was all fine. Matt looked like someone had gutted him with a knife, he glared at Damon who waved his fingers in a 'Shoo' manner making Matt angrier as he walked away to another seat.

Elena dug her nails into Damon's arm as the light dimmed in the auditorium and the musical started, "What do you think you're doing?" she asked in a low yet dangerous voice, "Blackmailing me now? I always knew you were bad at taking rejection."

"Rejection?" Damon chuckled as he tilted his head towards her, "As far as I remember, you were sprawled out on the table for me."

She bit her lip with frustration, "Yeah and later I told you I am not doing this anymore." She said through gritted teeth

"Oh come on, Elena. As much as I enjoy the bitch mode on you, it's getting really old. So stop fucking around with Donovan to get my attention." He said sitting back in his seat and looking at the screen but he could hear Elena hiss at his comment.

"I don't want your attention at all. And what I do with Matt is none of your business."

"Is he your boyfriend?"

"That's none of your business." She snapped.

"Well I've made it my business. Want to know when? When you fucking admitted to wanting me. When he said shit to you outside the showers and in flat 10 minutes you were begging me to make you come, or that day when you were at the dance with Elijah but wanted me." His voice was slightly rough.

Elena swallowed thick, "Your version of events is so different than mine. Because all I remember is a desperate guy trying way too hard to get in my pants." She didn't even notice when his hand reached for her leg.

He held it firmly, taking her by surprise as he scoffed, "So you think that Huh?"

Elena looked down at the fingers that inched closer under the skirt of her dress, then his hand disappeared under there and she looked at it in a daze.

"Won't you hit me now? Or maybe call me a desperate and sad loser?" his fingers rubbed against her lace panties but she closed her legs together to stop his movements

Elena squeezed her eyes shut, gathering enough strength to push his expert fingers away from herself. Truth was she was craving release, she had been since weeks now. Any time she had even been near to it was at the party or at her home next day during the tutoring session.

"Why are you stopping this? When you know I can give you what you want, you want me to fuck you with my fingers, baby?" he spoke in a husky yet slightly threatening tone, Elena felt her skin heating up at his question, she looked at him, eyes wide.

Oh god, he was serious.

She didn't even realize how but her thighs begin to unclench while giving him a doe eyed helpless expression. As if she had no choice but to go through with this.

He smirked slipping his fingers inside her panties, "God, you're so wet already. I can't wait to make you come and taste you." He whispered in her ear but Elena had her eyes on the film as his fingers teased her folds, his thumb pressed down on her clit a few times and Elena bit down on her lip as he thrusted a finger inside her, lowering his face slightly to brush his lips against her shoulder, "I hope you know you can't scream, or everyone's going to know you're not the perfect little princess you pretend to be."

"Damon." She looked at him glaring, his lips on her shoulder felt so good but she didn't want people to see him.

He pushed a second finger inside her, moving them in and out of her tight opening, she clutched her hair at one side, her breathing was getting erratic as she stared at the screen with wide yet blank eyes because she couldn't see anything but white hot pleasure.

"I-I, oh god." She murmured swallowing knots in her throat.

"I know baby, I feel it too. Lately all I think about is what it would feel like when its my cock you're clenching around. I would never stop, I will make you want it again and again. Just like how you want me now." His voice was pure liquid lust.

He moved his fingers in and out quickly now making her lose her mind. While she prayed to god that she doesn't scream Damon's name because her climax was big.

When it hit her, her throat tightened, she bit down on her lip and gripped the seat in front of her. Her mouth opened in a soundless cry as she rode the waves of pleasure, Damon slowly removed his hand from under her dress, while she sat back in her seat, still hyperventilating, then she looked at him as he slowly sucked one of his fingers into his mouth.

"Mmhmm, I love a good movie snack." He winked at her.

Elena opened and shut her mouth several times before grabbing her bag and rushing out of there despite her jelly legs.

Damon heard Luke ask her where she was going and she quickly said something like the 'bathroom'.

...

..

.

Damon had gotten out of the auditorium after Elena but he wasn't able to make it much far before Elijah ran into him, he looked tired and worried, "Damon, What have you done?"

"What's wrong?"

Elijah handed him his phone, "This is what's wrong, I just checked the pictures Mason sent me of the transcript before he took it from the filing cabinet. Would you look at the budget?"

Damon held his phone, and narrowed his eyes to get a better look of the number, "What the fuck. That wasn't our budget."

"Yes, apparently Mason thinks he can spend 10, 000 dollars with no consequences." He shivered with the number.

Damon was clueless, when Bonnie and him decided on a budget it was very affordable and now this number was way over it.

"You even signed it. You realise what will happen right?" Elijah said going into a near panic attack like state, "I am going to get suspended from the council, probably expelled one month before our finals and guess who has to pay 10,000 dollars? Me!"

"No-No Elijah this is my mistake, I won't let you take the blame." Damon said handing him the phone, Elijah shook his head, "It doesn't matter, I am the council president, this is going to happen to me regardless if you take the blame or not."

Damon couldn't believe this was happening, he made sure the party was well managed. He could have sworn the budget he drafted was nothing like on the paper.

Then it hit him like a ton of bricks.

Elena Fucking Gilbert.

How could he be so stupid to not expect anything after he stole her party, her precious council, that damn seat on the quiz.

Elijah was pacing around the corridor in front of him, seeming out of his mind.

"I can put the money in." He found himself saying.

Elijah stopped his panic walk and looked at him as if he were crazy.

"You can put 10,000 dollars in?"

"Yes, we'll put money in the council treasury and make a second receipt to replace the first one." Damon further developed his plan putting his hands on Elijah's shoulders, "Think about it, that money is nothing out of my allowance, plus we need to be in school's good graces if we want our expo to go through."

"But-"

"No buts. I have an idea. Just don't freak out. I know a way we can get into the teacher's staff room."

...

Caroline was helping Luke pick after the mess on the stage after practice, "I think we should have 80s wardrobes too." She said for the umpteen time

While the blond haired boy begin rushing through the process, "Of course you do."

"Don't you want authenticity?" she squealed at his judgemental tone, "Sometimes I feel like I am the only one who cares."

"You all bully me, Forbes and I've had my fill of the day, my brother and Damon and even Donovan had their go at the punching bag so excuse me if I am not in the mood for more of your bullcrap." He left a prop on stage and stormed off leaving behind a baffled Caroline.

"Urgh, unbelievable." She said getting up from her knees.

"I know, total ass!" she heard Stefan and looked behind.

"Stefan."

He was rotating his keys on his pointer finger as he walked in, "Come on I got my bike from my uncle and I am taking you uptown."

"Where?" she asked with a chuckle. He offered her his hand so she could climb off stage but before she'd jump, he put his other hand on her waist, picking her up to get her down next to him. She shivered slightly at the move, repeating her question, "Where?"

"There is this sweet Italian place called L'Amore. I've heard their pasta is like heaven melting in your mouth." He said with a dramatic tone.

She giggled at his choice of words, "Oh okay but I have to check with Tyler. He has a game on Friday and he gets weirdly needy before a big game."

Stefan bit the inside of his cheek, hiding the sting that he felt every time Caroline gushed about Tyler.

"I am sure he'll be fine, I mean its just a game, not a big deal." He interrupted her when she was about to call Tyler, "Come on Caroline, you promised me. I'll bring you back in time for this football ritual with Tyler."

She hesitated slightly before giving up and putting her phone back, "Okay, but it's just because I want that pasta."

He rolled his eyes, holding her hand to take her out of there and she followed.

Elena was furious at herself, what was wrong with her? How could she forget how much of a jerk he was just for momentary pleasure. Every time she came back to her senses, she detested herself for acting the way she did.

There had to be a way to show him that she didn't comply with him. What was the whole thing about? Yep, Matt.

Recently she had really tried to be friends with Matt and for the most part it was like good old times. She was eating at his table, waiting for him after practice, sometimes he would insist that he walk her home and they would talk about football for the most part but she really liked being friends with him, even if at times it felt like he wanted more. But there was this unsaid agreement on it. Matt was respecting that. He didn't seem like a stalker maniac who could hurt Damon.

Elena picked out another dress for today while getting ready, to be honest she was picking out things that gave her more shape nowadays. She would change into her cheerleader uniform before practice. It made her feel good when she walked down the hallway and everyone would turn their head a few times. Even Damon had been gawking yesterday. Maybe that's part of the reason she wanted to do it again.

Elena knocked on Jeremy's door because she needed to get her mascara from the makeup box in the bathroom. He opened after several knocks and Elena saw her nightmare

Bonnie was in Jeremy's bed, sound asleep. "Oh my god!" she yelled but Jeremy put his palm over her mouth pushing her outside, "Shh she's sleeping."

"Jer! Tell me it's not what it looks like." She cringed.

He closed the door, putting his hands on his hips, "Relax, we were out with her friends last night, Bonnie was really drunk so I told her to stay here."

"If mom found out there's a girl in your bed, a girl that is my best friend and two a half years older than you, she will kill me!" Elena hissed.

"Its only two years and three months, that's not half." He scowled, "Besides, she slept over. I couldn't let her drive home and you were showering for like two hours last night."

Elena blushed slightly before she hit his chest, "Fine. I am distracting mom, you get her coffee and meet me by the door in twenty minutes."

"Okay. Thanks." He said with somewhat gratitude, "Hey wait, look this weird thing happened last night."

"Oh please don't tell me!" Elena scrunched up her face.

"No I mean- Bonnie told her friends I am 17. And then I had to lie, she lied a lot to her friends about me, she even said we were dating on and off for years." He licked his lips, looking back at his door before leaning in to whisper, "She kissed me in front of her friends."

"Oh no, Bonnie." Elena groaned, she wanted to kill her friend for misleading Jeremy like this. "Do you think she likes me? Come on Len, Bonnie tells you everything."

"Jer." She put her hand on his shoulder, "Why don't you distract mom while I ask Bonnie about it, sounds good?"

Her brother contemplated over it for a second before shrugging and going downstairs.

Elena walked in Jeremy's room and pulled the covers off of Bonnie, she was wearing Jeremy's over sized hoodie which she curled into at the loss of covers.

"Wake up! America's top player." She said putting her cold hands on Bonnie's legs, she winced opening her eyes, "What are you doing here?"

"Uh not screwing over my fifteen year old brother, and what are you?" she asked with a hand on her hip, Bonnie sat up with a clenched jaw, "Okay I am sorry. I know its wrong but all is fair in love and war. And I have both of those with Enzo, he was so happy with his red-headed bitchy girlfriend. I had to fight back- I just got carried away."

"Bonnie, I know you are looking at things with Green coloured revenge glasses but my dumb Romeo of a brother has already planned his children with you. And no matter how much I like to see him trip on the living room uneven floor, I don't want you to hurt him like this." She said with a finality in her tone, "You're my best friend and he's my brother so please don't make me pick a side."

"Look I am sorry, I didn't know it was that serious, okay. Jeremy didn't seem to have a problem." She said getting up to look for her clothes, "Yes because he doesn't know."

"So if I tell him, will it get you off my case?"

"You're not going to tell him that! No. You will break him. Just slowly pull away." She said opening Jeremy's cupboard and finding Bonnie's dress hanging neatly there.

She handed her the dress, "Here. Get ready, I'll go get my damn mascara."

...

..

.

Damon knew it was risky but it was the only thing he could think of, Elijah was freaked out despite Damon telling him it was a plan with a 98 percent success rate.

"Well what about the 2 percent?" he asked as Damon was once again telling him the plan in the hallway.

"Look that 2 percent is you. I'll get the fire alarm to go off and everyone's going to get out of here , you're going to jump in from the staff room window and put this new report in the file. While I go down to the treasury and put this money." He gestured towards his bag

"Relax Elijah you know Taekwondo." He said putting his arm on Elijah's shoulder who went stiff with a scrunched nose, "I am starting to think you are confusing knowing Taekwondo with being spider man."

"Exactly, break out the webs."

"Ah, not this again." Elijah huffed and when Damon saw what he was referring to, he too felt the same amount of disgust.

Matt and Elena were by her locker, he was showing her something on his phone while Elena was giggling by his side.

"Didn't your date go well?" Damon asked just for once to listen to someone else's frustrations about this girl other than his own mind.

"It was okay, then I got busy in the project but the truth is I never asked her out again, I want to because I like her, she's the only one at this school who I never dumb it down with. She's smart and look at that, she's a cheerleader. But now she's back with him."

"No she's not." Damon said sure of the fact, right then Elena saw him and surprisingly, she smiled.

He had rarely seen her smile so sweetly. Then she told Matt to wait and begin walking towards him. She was wearing a burgundy dress, her hair was wavy today and the heels made her legs look miles long. He was frozen in place like a six grader with a crush.

"I've missed you so much." She said in a sickly-sweet voice, "Elijah."

And glass break.

Damon had forgotten that Elijah was also there, who seemed to be nervous because Damon noticed Elijah's hands trembling at his side, but he talked with a robotically confident voice, "Yes, I've been very busy with my project."

"You need to come back to the council as soon as you can." Elena insisted, "Some people are taking advantage of you being gone." Her eyes looked at Damon for a second with disapproval.

"Are you sure it's not just someone making you work unbiasedly, Gilbert." Damon said raising a brow.

She shook her head with a fake plastered smile, "No, I am pretty sure someone let power go their head."

Elijah laughed, looking uncomfortable, "Wow. Okay now. Guns down. Elena, I'll be back as soon as I can. At least I hope to be."

"Okay." She returned back to her sweet smile as she put her hand on Elijah's hands, "Good luck Mr. President." She winked, her eyes were full of playful flirting and when she turned back around to walk with that sensual swing in her hips, he could feel Elijah melting by his side. "Okay, I can't get expelled from here. No, not after that."

Damon rolled his eyes at Elena's obvious act, she went back to talking to Matt.

"So you have third period free and so do I, that's when we do this thing."

When Elijah left for his class, Damon walked over to Matt and Elena, interrupting their pointless discussion about his football match. "Gilbert, I need to talk to you, its about the council."

Matt spoke for her, blocking his view of her, "Yeah well it's school hours Salvatore. So wait till its time."

"Really ken-doll You wanna do this now?" Damon asked tilting his head, "What's so important about the story you're telling her? Its probably a match from two years ago because I've been beating your ass on the field ever since I joined."

Before Matt could say anything, Elena got ahead, "It's okay, Matt. Council work is important."

She gestured Damon to lead her through the corridor, once they were near the council office, he held the door open, when she walked in, he got in too and locked the door behind them.

"Damon!" she turned around looking alarmed when the door closed after them, "Shut up and listen, this thing that you're doing is very fucking obvious and it's going to end right now. I've made myself clear about this shit yesterday."

She jutted out a lip, "Why? Are you jealous?"

"I don't have to be jealous. You'll never in a million years fuck either of those two. But that doesn't mean you're going to give them tiny pieces of what belongs to me." He hissed.

She smirked at his harsh voice, knowing it was sick to be enjoying his temper. But it felt nice to see him be on the short end of the stick.

"Huh, you know one of the most attractive yet infuriating things about you is your audacity." She said pressing her finger against his chest, "No part of me ever belonged to you or will ever belong to you, Salvatore."

"So it's all in my head? This whole time I've been waging wars against you while you've been ducking it." He asked.

"Pretty much." She shrugged.

"Well then you won't mind if you see me with Rebekah." He asked a bit smugly, she shrugged, "Go ahead."

"And it won't matter?"

"I don't care." She already looked annoyed, throwing her hands up, "Do whatever you want!"

"Fine, you know what? I am done playing your games so you're on own." He walked back to the door and unlocked it. "I am done chasing you, wanting you or even thinking about you. So yeah, this is over."

Elena opened her mouth, wanting to get the final word but she couldn't, what do you even say to that?

She looked around before stepping out of the room.

...

...

Damon sounded very genuine when he said he was not chasing her anymore. Though it should have given her a sense of relief, it was bothering her. She hated his tone, what did it mean, 'she belonged to him' how archaic.

The term infuriated her, yet it made her wonder if that made a difference between her and all his other conquests.

There is no point in wondering because he said he wouldn't chase after her. She clutched her pencil at the thought that he got the final word.

She was still thinking about it two periods later in her Chemistry class.

Chemistry, another thing Damon ruined for her.

She huffed doodling something on her notepad since she couldn't understand a word of the lecture.

She was freed from the confines of her desperate thoughts when the ring started echoing in the classroom.

'Smoke detectors' alarm

Everyone started running towards the door while Mr. Stanley unsuccessfully tried to calm students down.

"Hurry up, Elena." Caroline shoved her bag in her hands and grabbed her arm, Elena was thankful for the Blonde because her friend broke the crowd to get her out of there while shouting about a ridiculous 'Cheerleader protocol' for herself and Elena.

When they got out of the building, she hugged Caroline, "Thank you so much. Care."

"Oh shut up! What were you sitting there for? Pot roast Elena?" she said dramatically checking Elena's face for wounds.

Elena pursed her lips, "I am fine, I was just shocked I guess."

"Hey we have an injured student." Someone called.

Naturally everyone headed that way which was to the back of the building near the basketball court.

Elena gasped seeing Elijah lying there, wincing on the ground, "Oh my god, Elijah!" she rushed to him and sat by his side, he was awake and was clutching his leg, "What happened?" Elena asked.

Everyone was crowded around Elijah, he could barely see anything and only hear Caroline yelling at people to back up so he could know he's not in hell and indeed, alive.

Elena backed away once Alaric Saltzman found them, "Elijah, can you hear us? Are you able to respond? Help is on the way, hold on."

He hissed, "F-fell from council office w-window. D-door jamm-mmed."

"Okay. Relax. We're taking you to the hospital." Alaric said in a very calm parent like voice.

Elena got up from the ground and stepped back along with Caroline. By pure coincidence she looked at the main entry and saw Damon running out now.

Now? When everyone had been out here for over fifteen minutes. Following the crowd, he too came forward to see what the deal was about. On seeing Elijah, his eyes widened slightly and his mouth dropped.

Elena looked up at the window of the council, Elijah fell from the second story and was not even bleeding? Plus she could have sworn the window in the council office had a defective lock. It usually didn't even open. Elijah wasn't even back for the week yet and he was in the council office during class hours?

What was this about, why was Elijah lying?

Elena heard Damon asking Caroline about Elijah and the blonde's voice was low as she replied, "The door to the council office was jammed so Elijah tried to climb down the window."

"Oh."

...

..

.

Elena was suspiciously looking at Damon during council the next day, he was now the interim President till the rest of school year which was one and a half month.

"So just to make our President proud, I'd appreciate if all of you get your assignments done by Monday because as you all know I am leaving for my tech quiz next week, Tuesday."

Bonnie groaned, "We sure know because you remind us like a thousand times."

"Bennett, a little respect please." Damon looked around at the table, "So now that we've understood their tasks for the day, Aaron, get me a coffee."

The council door opened and Rebekah walked in looking distraught.

She came to sit by Damon's chair who quickly announced, "And also everyone no noise at all, my girlfriend is not having a good day."

Rebekah huffed leaning forward and hugging him, "Ah, babe you're so sweet."

Elena snapped her head towards Bonnie as If saying 'What the hell?'

She dragged her seat next to Bonnie and whispered, "They are together?"

Bonnie too looked at the couple in disgust, "I know! It's like Satan and the queen of evil have united."

Elena looked over her shoulder to see Rebekah resting her head on Damon's shoulder while he was playing with her fingers as if cheering her up, the whole picture was just wrong and unbelievable.

"He told me he was going to get with her. Can you believe it? He's such a loser." She was still glaring at them.

"Umm are you okay? You seem more upset about the fact that they are together and not enough about the fact that Satan and his wife are going to make this month a hell." Bonnie's comment momentarily freed her from jealousy chains.

She scoffed, "Like hell this bitch will, I am the vice president." Elena straightened her plaid skirt that she had paired with a black shirt and got up her seat to walk up to Dracula's throne at the head of the table.

With a small cough, she got his attention , "How's Elijah doing?" She asked Rebekah, Elena truly hoped Elijah was fine. She did feel that much sympathy for Rebekah.

Seeing Elena, Rebekah scowled, her voice went from a hurt kitten to a roaring tiger.

"Oh don't pretend like you care, arghh I really don't have the energy to deal with you today." She said sitting straight now.

Elena was taken aback by such a bitchy turn of events, "I am sorry, I was really worried about him."

"You were worried about him?" Rebekah feigned a pout, "Okay, he broke his leg, what are you going to do now, ask your fairy god mother to fix it? Urgh, can you just get out of my face right now." The icy blonde was screeching by the end.

Elena had enough, she didn't care anymore. This girl was already on her nerves since the start and now she was acting like being with Damon gave her some hierarchy boost. He didn't even care about her, this was all an act for Elena's benefit

"Rebekah, you don't even care about your brother and this attitude won't work when your 'boyfriend' here is gone next week and I am in charge."

Damon lifted his hand stopping her, "Wait, who said you'd be in charge, Gilbert?"

Elena hesitated to answer, "Well it's understood."

"Then I think you understood it wrong, Rebekah is in charge next week." Damon said as if it were obvious.

"What? Really?" Rebekah asked in surprise, as if he had asked her to marry him.

"Yes. Of course. Babe"

Elena looked at them jaw dropped, how dare he? This was more than revenge, this was about her pride. When did he get the time to sit down and think of ways to ruin her life.

"I will never be her subordinate." She said not caring that Rebekah looked like she was going to lunge at her.

"Too bad Gilbert, it is what it is." He shrugged.

Elena stomped her foot and stormed out of there.

Everyone at the table was shocked at the whole exchange, Rebekah huffed, "Thank god, she was sucking all the air from this room."

...

...

..

Elena knew it wasn't that simple, something had been wrong. She had snuck into the security room since after school hours there wasn't usually anyone here, by one look at the cameras from yesterday and it all was in front of her.

The cameras showed him, Damon. He lighting a few papers on fire and putting them in the bin so the smoke detectors would go off. Then he rushed to the stairs while crowds of students begin evacuating the building.

Elena didn't know how and when but she burned the footage into a disc and the very next day she was in Alaric Saltzman's class before first period. A part of her said it was the right thing to do because Damon's actions put Elijah in the hospital but there was this feeling at the back of her mind that knew it was because she couldn't stand the thought of him and Rebekah for a month and a half in council if that's how long his act with her would last.

Even on the way to school today she had seen them making out in the parking lot. It was disturbing and Elena wanted to throw up.

Elena had complained to Alaric several times about Damon but the man always refused to listen to bad word about his star pupil.

"Mr. Saltzman." Elena started once Alaric got his coffee and sat down in his seat.

"Elena, what is this about?"

"Damon."

"As per usual." Alaric muttered.

Elena shook her head taking out the covered disc, "I have proof this time, after you watch this video you will know that Damon shouldn't be trusted with so much responsibility."

He stopped Elena with a wave of his hand, "Please Miss Gilbert I don't entertain petty school fights."

"But he's putting everyone's life in danger, he's ruining my life." Elena said a bit louder, frustrated with Alaric.

The man's sat up straight and huffed, "I assure you Damon Salvatore is a threat to no one, especially not you."

Elena gritted her teeth when Alaric begin reading his newspaper, "Just because you threatened to get him expelled doesn't mean he is in your control."

The man calmly looked up and shrugged, "I never threatened to expel him, I did however tell him to do as I want or I'd get you expelled."

"What?" she had an exasperated expression.

Alaric nodded, "I told him I'd tell the principal and its been smooth sailing ever since. So believe me when I say Damon Salvatore is no threat to you."

"You were going to get me expelled? For what? For staying in your class overnight and smoking?" she asked baffled.

He shrugged, "Well yes but then I had the opportunity to help a student."

"He's been making my life hell for months now!" she was going to yell at any point.

"And I've been making his life hell with activities, tests and more work the kid has ever seen but I know he'll never quit because that's his only way to be close to you so believe it or not Elena, Damon is not your enemy." He said with a finality in his tone, "So I'd appreciate if you let go of your anti-Damon agenda because he's got a game and a quiz coming up."

Elena finally left his office, this new piece of information was just too much why did Damon not tell her? Alaric's been bossing him around for months and he failed to mention that this was all 'her' fault.

The only way to find out was Damon.

She was ready to ask him.

A/N: so I am super sleepy but I don't know if I will be able to write soon so here's a chapter. A very juicy chapter is on way with the stalker reveal, DE fights and a very surprising turn of events that would change everything.

I am very very grateful to your reviews and I read them over and over, knowing this story is fun to read and your views on the characters and story really excite me.

So someone asked what's Damon age was, he's 19, he was shot at the end of his junior year and so he took one year off and then joined Mystic Falls High. Elena and Stefan are of the same age, hence in the same grade.

Hope this clears it up.

I am waiting for your thoughts on tge chapter.
