It started with a rant amongst my DA buddies...we all were extremely disappointed in S6 E7 and E8, with a lot of discussion about Mary and Henry’s courtship. We all like the couple, but felt Fellowes did a very poor job with the relationship. We knew there would be conflict related to cars and racing and we predicted a reconciliation toward marriage. But starting from the race crash, and in particular the reconciliation scene in the library, it left us utterly baffled. The puzzle pieces just didn’t fit together.

At one point, one of our member challenged us to write down how we thought things should have gone instead. I took the lead for that first work, and wrote a new reconciliation to include the elements which missed the mark in the series. We had such fun dissecting it that we decided to take it further with other works. We asked each other what was missing within the season and in the timeframe before the CS, then about what might be forthcoming. We didn’t even know that fan works sites existed until a comment from one of our daughters made us look. We have been enjoying it ever since.

We initially did script style, for the simple reason that it is a TV show, and that is what Fellowes would have written. We have switched to narrative, to explore characters’ thoughts and feelings more, but still present tense. We assume that anyone reading has seen DA and knows its characters, cast, settings, etc. We love reading comments, so please leave them anytime.
