Author has written 32 stories for Girls und Panzer/ガールズ&パンツァー, Sword Art Online/ソードアート・オンライン, Digimon, Need for Speed series, Warriors, Pokémon, and Ace Combat. Blazepanzer here, and I thought you might like to know a bit about me. I'll be including some helpful writing tips I've learned about writing at the end. Well for starters, my age. Not mentioning anything here, so yeah. Blame my stubbornness on this. However I can promise you I am over 13 years old. Most of my stories are going to revolve around Digimon, Pokemon, Sword Art Online, Ace Combat, Girls und Panzer, and Warriors. I'm going to have at least two full, completed stories per fandom, with some additional one shots. I think my best chapters are about 2,500 to 3,500 words in length, which lead to stories which are anywhere between 50,000 and 140,000 in length, if using anywhere between 20 and 40 chapters per story. Also, although I try, Please... please, I am begging you, let me know if you see a spelling mistake in any of my stories. I love these reviews as they help me become a better writer. Anyways, outside of Fanfiction, I enjoy reading, video games, science and story documentaries, and listening to music while walking outside. My favorite animal is the cat. Here's a list of my other favorites: Favorite TV show: How It's Made Favorite Anime: Girls und Panzer Favorite movie: Balto Favorite book series: Warriors Favorite video game: Ace combat Zero the Belkan War Favorite Tank: Panzer IV H Favorite military jet: F-5 Favorite OC: Leopon Favorite MC: Shino Asada (SAO) Favorite SI: Hanoashi Final list of stories : Sword Art Online: Legends of the Shadowclan Guild Leopon Rising Acer's Morality (New, Prequel to Leopon's rising but with a different character) The Regal Sniper (New, placeholder title) Marching on from Despair Girls und Panzer: Willpower and Determination (Rewrite) Blazing Recovery The Quiet life Panzerfaren Begins (Classified crossover Pok'emon: Sachi's victory (Pok'emon TCG) Hanoashi beginning (Pokemon RED, X, or Sun) * Still trying to decide * Digimon: File City Rising Digimon story cyber sluth (Ties in with the character's from Acer's morality and Leopon Rising but not a true crossover) Legend ofZelda: Legend of Aacob, Orcana of time Legend of Aacob, Majora's mask Ace Combat: Ace combat 6, skies of liberation Warriors: Blazing adventure (Tentative title) Helpful tips: Always check your spelling three times, if not more. Even then you can still miss errors. If someone gives you a review about a misspelling, correct it. ( The exception to this is if the way a word is spelled is in hot debate and your way of spelling it is a large contender for being correct.) Beta readers can be a great asset in writing as well, but keep in mind that not only are they human, but you should also be improving your abilities to spell words correctly, and to spot misspelling yourself without someone having to point them out to you. That way, if something happens to your Beta, you can correct errors on your own while you wait for your beta reader or find a new one if you find you need another. Also, watch auto correct carefully, it can be notorious for using a different word than you want to use. Character balance is key. I don't care if your story has a MC, an OC, or a self insert, I want your character to make some mistakes. Feel free to have the character break some laws. Have them get in a fight, arrested, become partially responsible for a death, (Or even fully responsible for a death if you like!). Don't write Kirito 2.0, instead mix in some classic Firestar in with a lot of Koyuko. In other words, for every good thing, you should have anywhere between 0.3 to 1.4 bad points, depending on your character. Course an incredibly evil character needs to have some good points, but it's the reverse of a neutral to good player. The exception to this is when you are writing a light heated story which isn't suppose to have an actual conflict conflict. ( IE Birthday party, Peaceful slice of life, dating oneshot, ect. Chapter length typically needs to be at least 2.500 words, excluding author notes. A 2,500 word chapter length over thirty chapters equals to a 75,000 word story, which is a lot more enjoyable read than a 30,000 story most of the time. However!!!! Do not, under ANY circumstances halt at Any set chapter length. It's okay to have one chapter be 6,000 words and another to be 2,300 words. If you stop at 2,500 words just because you can, you will leave with an unfulfilling chapter, but if you make your chapters a mandatory 8,000 words with no exceptions, you can easily find yourself rambling. Make sure your chapter has enough content, description, and all the other good stuff before ending it, but don't go into so much detail that your story is just detail and rambling. Oneshots can be shorter, albeit you should try and at least make them over 1,000 words, preferably 2,000 words in length. Author's notes are something I struggle with. At bare minimum, you should at least state you don't own the fandom you're writing about and state your story is simply fanfiction, for any legal issues of course. You might make a quick statement, such as if it's your first fan-fiction in this fandom or if you have something to say at the end of the chapter. Any extra details and such should be put in an after-chapter AN, at the end of the current chapter. Don't feel pressured to owe your audience anything except respect, gratitude for reading your story, a good story which they will enjoy and be able to read without many, if any mistakes, and things around that line. You don't owe your audience a reference to a belief system, lifestyle, shipping, character, other story (Fanfiction or not), ect. Don't get me wrong, you can include these references, (Albeit it might not be wise to reference another author's story in your fic unless it's a collaboration or shout out with the original author's express permission,) and these can improve your story, but make absolutely certain is something you want to add in and not something you are adding in because you feel pressured too. Be careful about making changes to your story. Yeah, sometimes they are necessary, but if someone tells you that you need a major change in a story, weigh how much benefits you'll get from that change before actually making it. Sometimes a person will suggest a change that makes sense to them but not only isn't needed, but could cause you to have to rewrite your entire story. OOC, be careful to avoid this, however keep in mind that changes to a character's background can make them see OOC in cannon. For example, a character who in cannon was raised in a polite, high society family is going to be different if he or she is raised in a street gang. If a change in background causes your character to become a bit OOC, then it's perfectly alright. However, if it's because you've gotten sloppy as a writer, then you need to fix it. Be very careful about putting sensitive topics in your fanfiction, it may cause some drama, but you want to do things in such a way which doesn't offend readers, if possible. There's a difference between someone being offended because they want to be offended and showboat non-relevant complaints and those who are actually offended. Save often! You can lose a document, have a malfunction, or many other things. Invest in a good USB thumb drive, a cheep 8 GB is more than enough! Never, ever make your audience feel unwelcome. I've seen people do this all the time. Things like, "If you don't like this thing or parring, then get out!" Also putting "Don't like, don't read" isn't really a good idea as well. Instead, put the paring and or a warning about a certain concept of the story, and then in your author's say something along the lines of, "Now, I made a quick mention that such paring or a certain topic is going to be prominent in this story. I'll understand if you don't like to read about this however I'd ask that you remember that I warned you about this twice now." This makes it a lot more nicer, and it also discourages people from leaving or ignoring the stories, even if they are not the intended target. Lastly, if you like a story, at least give a follow, or a Favorite. I can't tell you how much it makes my day to see that someone decided to follow and or favorite one of my stories, plus, they are other benefits. For one thing, favoriting or following will let you know when a new chapter is up. Let me give you a little secret about me... when someone favorites, follows, or reviews on of my stories, I often like to go to their profile and see what kind of stories they've written. Although I'm almost certain I'm not the only one who does this, and most won't say, who's to say that person who's story you've supported won't come and read one of your stories? |
