November 1st, 1981
It was still somewhat dark outside and very cold. The sun seemed like it was coming up very slowly. There were very few people out on the road. It was about 6:45 AM.
Andrew Creevy was just finishing up his rounds delivering milk with only five more houses to do. Being a milkman was a very dull job, but it paid the bills. And Andrew was the highest payed employee at the company as a employee rep for the board, the supervisor for the deliverers and the one who makes the schedules for said deliverers.
After parking, Andrew walked up to number four private drive with eight half gallon bottles of milk. He didn't like the Dursley family very much. Petunia was basically a Karen, always complaining about one thing or another. Vernon tried to sue several different companies many, many times over the years because he always took his wife's side in her complaining.
Then there was their nasty son Dudley. At fifteen month old, boy was very much like his father but in his mother's opposite gender body. Andrew always tried to save this house for the end because of how much he didn't like it here. It made him feel uneasy whenever he was here.
When Andrew was about a foot and a half away from the door he saw a baby just laying there out in the cold. Then Andrew began to panic at the sight. He started to think different scenarios in his head.
Was this a Dursley baby that the horrible people wanted to get rid of? Or was this someone else's kid who's parents wanted the baby to be raised by the Dursley's? Andrew noticed a letter on the baby and set the milk down to read the letter.
On old fashioned parchment paper and in weird calligraphy hand that Andrew could barely read. It looked like it was mummified in a time capsule and left for the Dursley's.
The letter said...
'Dear Mr & Mrs Dursley,
'I'm sorry to tell you this, but your sister(in-law) Lily Marie Evans-Potter and brother in law James Fleamont Potter have both been murdered last night by Lord Voldemort (he-who-must-not-be-named). Your nephew Harry was the only one left still alive in the house. He was found crying for his mother who was lying on the floor in front of him.'
'Harry can not know about magic till he is eleven years old. And he can not know how his parents died. When Harry enters back into the wizarding world, I want him to lean on me and my people.'
'Tell Harry that his parents loved him so much. I don't care what you tell him, just do not tell him that he is worthless or that his parents were freaks. Or that his parents were unemployed drunks who could care less about their son. Lily and James loved their son enough to go into hiding and live off of the Potter fortune while simultaneously increasing it triple each month.
'And do not expect payment of any kind. I want you to raise Harry out of the kindness of your hearts as he is family to you. Again, I am terribly sorry for your loss. Your sister was a great woman.'
'See you in the summer of 1991.'
'Sincerely yours,
Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore'
'Order of Merlin-First Class, Headmaster of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, Grand Sorcerer, Supreme Mugwump of the International Confederation of Wizards (ICW), and Chief Warlock of the Wizengamot.'
'P.S. Harry's information: Harrison "Harry" James Potter: born July 31st, 1980 at half past five AM: is allergic to strawberries just like Lily and Petunia: has a high metabolism like James: loves handmade toys and blankets.'
Andrew now directed his anger from the Dursley's to whoever this Dumbeldore person is. He should have rang the doorbell last night to wake someone. He should have done something so baby Harry would not had to sleep outside.
Andrew put the letter into his pocket, picked Harry up with one arm and the empty bottles with the other. He needed to deliver milk to the last four houses before he went back to his. Usually Andrew got up early to deliver milk, quickly stopped at his house for breakfast and coffee which lasted about two hours and went back to work for a few hours.
Andrews schedule was flexible. He was scheduled for about 4 - 6 hours a day which he spaced out throughout the day. It took Andrew about an hour to an hour and a half to deliver milk every morning if everyone was came in to work and came in on time. And it took two hours to sort out the incoming orders.
And then it took another hour to figure out the routes for the next morning and who will be on the routes. Andrew only did five hours, sometimes six hours, if he had meetings with his bosses. He usually took two hour breakfasts and lunches so he would feel as if he worked all day.
Andrew placed Harry in a basket and quickly did his rounds and went home. He needed to tell his wife, Annie, what he just did. Andrew knew the only way to keep Harry was through Annie. Annie is a child custody lawyer and deals with child home placement all the time.
But Annie usually helps with adoptions from orphanages or other countries. And Annie helps women who want to give their babies up for adoption before they are even born yet.
After 15 minutes Andrew drove up to his house. Andrew grabbed Harry from the basket and walked into his home. Andrew found his wife in the kitchen carrying their two month old son Colin.
Colin was born back on August 30th of this year. Annie turned to her husband and gasped. She saw Harry in her husband's arms. But she didn't know Harry's name just yet.
"Andy, who's baby is that?" Annie asked in a worried
Annie was worried that her husband had kidnapped a child from someone. That he purposely took a child away from his parents home.
"This is Harry. And he was abandoned on a doorstep of one of my clients. I found him while I was dropping off some milk. Harry needs a home. And I was thinking we could keep him till we find him a family." Andrew said
This shocked Annie a lot.
"By whom, on who's doorstep?" Annie asked
Now Annie was worried that someone else had kidnapped the child and left him on someone's doorstep and to have Andrew find him in the cold.
"Do you remember what I told you about the Dursley family?" Andrew asked
Annie nodded her head. She heard nasty things about that family from her friends, family and her own experiences. She has encounters with Petunia Dursley in town while doing errands
"Yeah I do remember what you said. And what about them exactly?" Annie asked
Andrew took out the letter and handed it to his wife. Annie put Colin down and read the letter over and was flabbergasted. She was angry at the person who wrote the letter. The letter began to crumble in Annie's hands as her anger surged.
"Who is this Dumbeldore person? And why did he not ring the doorbell or knock to wake the Dursley family? Doesn't he know how to use those things? Or is he really that incompetent?" Annie asked
Annie started to really hate Dumbeldore with a burning passion.
"I don't know who he is. But I suspect that Harry had been on the doorstep all night." Andrew said
"How dare this man do this to a poor innocent little baby!" Annie yelled
Andrew put Harry next to Colin in the bassinet and turned to hug Annie tightly. He knew Annie was very passionate about children and them being in very good homes.
"It's going to be okay sweetheart. I know you will do the right thing." Andrew said
"We're keeping Harry." Annie said muffled
"What?" Andrew asked in a confused tone as he pulled away from his wife looking at her strangely.
"You know I have always wanted a big family with many kids. And Harry will be a great addition to the family. And I think he will be a good big brother to Colin and any other kids we may have in the future." Annie said
Annie gave her husband puppy god eyes that she knew Andrew couldn't resist. He hadn't resisted since the had met. That first time Annie was still figuring out the puppy dog eyes thing.
Andrew knew that they had no money troubles. They waited about two years to start a family and saved up money. And Annie had a really good job. Andrew could be a stay at home father if he liked but he took a minimum hour job so he wouldn't get bored.
His paycheck basically all went into their savings account because of Annie's big paycheck payed for all of the bills. And over the years the two have save so much that they could maybe now buy a house of their own. Especially with how much they save with not buying dairy products due to Andrew taking home the leftovers. Well, they still have to buy ice cream when they want that.
"Fine. We'll keep Harry ourselves. Get the adoption papers for him ready." Andrew said finally caving to his wife
Andrew did have to admit that Harry was a handsome little bugger. And there was no argument that Harry needed a good home where he would be loved. Away from the Dursley's.
Annie did her happy dance and squealed a bit. Annie's happy dance was basically a bunch of jumping. She kissed her husband and ran to her home office to gather the papers. Annie knew that they needed legal papers to keep him.
She knew the rules on keeping orphaned children. She knew how to keep Harry in their lives without him taken away. Annie would do anything to help a child. Especially one who was just recently orphaned like Harry was.
Annie called her co worker at the office to bring the last set of five papers that she needed for the adoption. After waiting in the living room for 30 minutes there was a knock at the door. Andrew got up and opened it to see Debbie, Annie's weird, rock garden obsessed, co worker.
"Hey Debbie." Andrew said
"Hello Andrew. Can I come in?" Debbie asked
Debbie and Andrew liked each other well enough from the times they met up. But they didn't interact very much. Debbie's job and Andrew's job and hobbies kept them apart and not talking.
"Sure. You can." Andrew said stepping aside allowing the woman in front of him in
Debbie walked into the house with a peachy folder in her hands. The peachy folder Debbie was holding had writing and stickers all over it. Andrew had seen this exact folder before when Annie did adoptions at home for her family. Debbie walked to Annie's office with a smile.
"Debbie, I'm glad you got the papers here. I want to keep Harry here with us so he won't go back to those terrible people down the street." Annie said
"Well, I had nothing better to do. Liam is still out of town. And the kids are at my parents, their grandparents house." Debbie said
Debbie handed the folder to Annie. And Annie squealed again at the sight of the colored on peachy folder. Annie grabbed the folder in excitement. This was second to final moment
The adopted of one Harrison "Harry" James Potter by Andrew Jonathan and Annie Agatha Creevy. By sign this document Harry Potter will become Harry Potter-Creevy. And you will be issued a new birth certificate for Harry as you do not have one.
Annie and Andrew signed the papers with glee. After an hour, the papers were signed and Harry was well on his way on being the son of Andrew and Annie. Harry was almost a Potter-Creevy instead of just a Potter.
Debbie left the Creevy home leaving the papers with Annie. Debbie knew that Annie would keep the papers safer then if they were with her. As Annie never leaves or forgets papers or other things.
When Debbie was clear, Annie turned to Andrew and squealed loudly as she dared not wanting to wake Colin or Harry. The two had embraced in a tight hug joyfully. Annie had never been so happy about an adoption before. And Andrew had seen a adoption in court done before when he had a day off one time.
Andrew drove Annie, with the kids, through the milk truck then his car to her office too see her boss. They needed to file the paperwork the right way. Annie was jumping up and down excitedly like a little rag doll. And it looked like she was an unmedicated ADHD person who was just given a bunch of sugar and caffeine and anything that would be hyper.
Debbie had told everyone in the office what happened with Harry. The big boss, Robert Gallagher, helped the Creevy family expedite Harry's adoption for them. Robert saw the smile on their faces as he faxed the papers to CPS and all the other people he needed to before Harry was taken away.
They also needed to legally say that the Dursley's were not raising him. Someone, who was not part of child services or an adopted lawyer, had hacked the system late last night and made sure that the Dursley's had custody of little Harry. And hacking into any government server was a life sentence in jail.
When Robert looked up the hacker, the IP address came from Vernon Dursley's office at his work. But he also knew that computers could be hacked.
After the paperwork was filed and Robert said that Harry was now Harry Potter-Creevy, Andrew drove Annie home. At work, Andrew could barely focus. He still hadn't told his co-workers what happened.
Back with his family, Annie went shopping with the kids to get somethings for Harry so he could live with them. She got a second crib that she, at a later date, could easily sell or regift to a friend or a family member. Or she could donate it to charity.
Annie was happy as her family was growing in size. Annie's mother, Ronda Franks, came over from the other side of town when Annie had called her. Ronda absolutely loved Harry when she first met him that afternoon. She was happy to have another grandchild to spoil.
Out of all four Franks children, Annie was Ronda's only child who was avidly having children of her own. Even if Harry was just adopted. Ronda and Annie both still loved Harry as if he were a natural born Creevy child.
Andrew soon came home so see his mother in law in his kitchen cooking with Annie sitting at the island. Harry was in a high chair next to Annie snacking on Cheerios and Colin was in a nearby bassinet sleeping.
