AN: Enjoy!
Not too much later, Vision took Wanda back inside, where she quickly said goodbye to he and Stark and rushed out the back door to head home before the very last rays of sunlight disappeared.
Vision returned to his corner, feeling strangely warm on the inside, and picked up one of his books, sitting quietly to read.
"Well.." Tony commented, beginning to pack up his own work for the day, "You seem happy."
"Happy..?" Vision's brow furrowed for a moment, as if briefly unsure of the word, then he nodded. "Yes, I suppose I am."
"I imagine that has something to do with little Miss Maximoff.."
"We watched the sunset.. It was.. Nice."
"Great. Just make sure you're both careful."
"Careful?" Vision paused, frowning. "Why? I would never hurt.."
"I'm not saying you would" said Tony, cutting him off. "Not at all. I meant, if you're going to leave the building, even just up on the roof.. Just be careful of the world around you. As much as Maximoff's brother can be an ass, he does have a point about things.. Namely that you, with all your shiny vibranium parts, could be a target for some of the not-so-nice people around here, and unfortunately, there's quite a few of those.."
"I see.."
"And Wanda.. Well, I'm pretty sure our Little Miss Maximoff is one of the good ones. But, she's probably not as scared of the not-so-nice people as she should be."
"So.. I should be scared for the both of us?" Vision asked.
"That may be a good compromise, yeah" Tony nodded.
"I will take that under consideration.." Vision paused for a few moments, before he spoke again. "Mr. Stark?"
"Yeah?"
"What do you think about.." Vision pointed vaguely upwards. "Up there? Genosha, where everyone thinks I am from?"
"Hmm.." Like Vision, Tony paused. "Do you want full honesty, or the sugarcoated version?"
"I believe full honesty would be best, Sir."
"Okay then, no sugarcoating" Tony rubbed his hands together. "The truth is, I don't think Genosha can possibly be as good as all the propaganda posters down here make it sound. Especially since nobody who does make it up there ever comes back to confirm it."
"Except your friend, Doctor Banner" said Vision. "The one who helped you fix me."
"Funnily enough, Bruce only proves my point more" Tony frowned. "He's not the man he used to be, before he went up there.."
"He's not?"
"No.. and he doesn't talk about Genosha, in fact, he absolutely refuses. That's why he moved out of the city, because people wouldn't stop bugging him about it. They all assume he got kicked out for some reason, and he's ashamed.."
"I take it you do not believe that assumption.." Vision's brow furrowed again.
"No, I don't" said Tony seriously. "Bruce is just about the least troublesome guy I've ever met, I don't see him doing anything to get himself thrown out of supposed paradise. The whole thing is just proof of what I already believe. So many people in Sokovia waste their whole lives trying to get to the perfect Utopia that Genosha is supposed to be. Much better, and easier, to work on improving life down here instead.. But uh, why do you ask?"
"Wanda's brother wants to take her to Genosha.."
"And you don't think she should go.."
"I don't think anyone should go."
"Any particular reason why?" asked Tony, curious.
Grinding, tearing metal. The sound of his own agonised screams. Cruel laughter..
"I don't know.." Vision shook his head, not sure if he wanted to block the sounds or cling to them tighter in the hope of regaining his memories. "I don't remember. I just.. Don't think Wanda should go."
"Maybe tell her that" Tony shrugged. "She seems to really like you, maybe she'll listen.."
"Maybe.."
Meanwhile, Wanda had just arrived home, finding a furious Pietro waiting for her.
"Where the hell have you been?!" He yelled. "It is almost after dark, you know how dangerous Sokovia can be after dark!"
"There's still a little bit of light out" Wanda countered, attempting to keep herself calm in the face of her brother's temper. "I only stayed back long enough to watch the start of the sunset with Vision.."
"The sunset?! With that hunk of.. Did anyone see you? I can't believe you risked your safety for a sunset.."
"I didn't" Wanda huffed, heading to their kitchen area to scrape together some sort of meal. She wanted to eat early, so she could sleep early, go scavenging with Pietro early, and be back in time to visit Vision like she'd promised. "I made it before dark.."
"You cut it dangerously close!" Pietro snapped.
"So have you, hundreds of times!" Wanda snapped right back. "And be very glad you did not just call Vision a hunk of metal, or I would have slapped you.." She took a breath to calm herself. "Do you want a sandwich? I'm making something quick and easy so I can be up early Tomorrow.."
Pietro, knowing Wanda had been leaving early most mornings to go to Stark Tower, frowned.
"You promised to come scavenging with me.." He reminded her.
"I know, and I will" Wanda replied. "But that never takes all day. If we go early I'll have time to visit Vision afterwards.."
"Of course you will.." Pietro rolled his eyes. "You know, sister, I'm beginning to think you are a little too concerned about your robot friend. If Killmonger or any of Klaue's lackeys saw you watching your little sunset, then.."
"Nobody saw us, we were on the roof" Wanda frowned, assembling her sandwich and mumbling, "I'm beginning to think that you're so obsessed with scavenging and saving money for Genosha that you're not really living anymore.."
"What?"
"Nevermind" Wanda sighed, carrying her plate away. "You never answered me about the sandwich, so if you want one, you're gonna have to make it yourself.."
