![]() Author has written 197 stories for Nightwalker, Castlevania, Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney, Tokyo Babylon, Phantasy Star, Dead or Alive, Lunar: Silver Star, GrimGrimoire, Sherlock Holmes in the 22nd Century, BloodRayne, Kannazuki no Miko, Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha, Mai HiME, Ravenloft, Odin Sphere, Valkyrie Profile, Aria/アリア, Fate/stay night, RWBY, Touhou Project, Bloodborne, Dark Souls, and Nights of Azure. * IMPORTANT: I do not write requests. * I've been getting a large number of PMs, anonymous reviews, and the like lately requesting me to write specific stories for them. I do not take requests from anyone, basically, who wouldn't be on the guest list if my wife and I were to have a renew-our-vows ceremony (or my wife herself, of course!), which in terms of those whom I interact with on this site constitutes five people. I have quite a large number of projects that I'm working on for myself, something you might not realize because I don't start posting stories until the complete draft is either finished or significantly close to being done. I'm an attorney (real estate...you can tell I'm not in an intellectual property practice since I write fanfiction, eh?) whose favorite hobbies are writing, reading, anime, and videogames. Ironically, these less-than-thrilling pastimes led me to get married; I met my wife when we were playing the same online MUD (Multi-User-Dungeon, sort of a really early version of a MMORPG)...from colleges three thousand or so miles away from each other. (For those of you who might be wondering by now about the yaoi fangirl I married, she also happens to write fics here under the name Tarma Hartley. Check out her profile at http://www.fanfiction.net/u/1207575/Tarma_Hartley .) For me, fanfiction has always been a way to express my enjoyment for a particular series. It's not enough just to sit back and enjoy some particular work, but to explore my feelings for something in some manner of creative output. If it's merely a particular mood or feeling evoked by the original media, then I merely try to learn from that in my own work (original or fan), but if there's something particularly notable about the characters or settings themselves, then I'll generate a fan work. Thus far I've written about all five Phantasy Star games (most of which are off-site at The Phantasy Star Pages and/or PSO World), Lunar (most are at the Shrine to Ghaleon),Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney, Nightwalker: Midnight Detective, Castlevania, Tokyo Babylon, Dead or Alive, Sherlock Holmes in the 22nd Century, Bloodrayne, Kannazuki no Miko, Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha, Mai-HiME, GrimGrimoire, RWBY, Touhou Project, ARIA, Bloodborne, Odin Sphere, and one extremely bad Miyuki-chan in Wonderland fic which I'm extremely embarrassed to have my name attached to (Seriously. It's bad. I have characters throwing random Japanese words into their dialogue for no good reason. Heck, I put random Japanese words into the narration. I mispelled "Kyaaaa!" repeatedly. It's awful. I've been thinking of editing the thing and posting it here just so the currently existing version isn't the one that represents my name out there in the world). ;) My fiction all has an "original flavor" feel to it, or at least tries to, because I'm trying to recreate and/or expand on whatever it was unique about the canon material that made me like it in the first place. Epsiodic series, therefore, have an especial appeal for me, since it means that I can "insert" new material without screwing with the continuity. Conversely, I tend not to write in/about canons in which the original story tends to be fully realized and/or complete (hence my lack of Shadow Hearts/Koudelka fiction despite my love for that series--the games say what, to me,needs to be said about the characters, and without the unique characters the setting is just the real world with supernatural forces included...or it's Cthulhu Mythos fanfiction, given how much Shadow Hearts draws upon the Mythos). I hope you enjoy it, and hope that what I write helps recreate for you why you, too, love the original source material for whatever it may be. Among my stories posted here, my personal favorites (and the ones I especially hope you'll waste your valuable time reading) are: "Techniques of Chaos" (not only is Alys Brangwin my all-time favorite character from any video game anywhere, but this story about her also delves into one of the questions raised in Phantasy Star IV: how did she originally meet Rune?) "Year of the Rappy," "Trick or Treat," "Heartwired," "White Night," "Upon a Midnight Clear," and "Flood Season" (Lyon and Ryland are two of my favorite characters and I always have a lot of fun with Lyon's non-human perspective on things) "Carnival of Dolls" (I think there may have been something in the water when I came up with the dreamlike alternate world Shido spends much of the story wandering in, but "Carnival" features my favorite portrayal of Riho) Kannazuki no Shimai (My sequel novel to the manga version of Kannazuki no Miko, in which Himeko and Chikane's new lives as twin sisters are threatened by the cycle's return of Orochi and a change in Himeko's circumstances that threatens to tear them apart for all eternity) "Madness of the Sun" (A hopefully somewhat haunting look into Himeko's mind and how she developed her ability to so easily shrug off the things Chikane did to her) "The Christmas Guest" (Lillet and Amoretta deal with Christmas decorating, a snowball fight, and a visit from Lillet's mother, who doesn't know Lillet is living with another girl. I actually expected the major angst scenes to end up being between Lillet and her mother, but things just played out differently when I wrote the story, which is pretty unusual for me) "The Hollow Heart" (A magical serial killer stalks the capital, obsessed with Amoretta. Lillet has to try to get along with the official investigators to save her beloved from murder, madness, and sorcery, but it may well be Amoretta herself who has to do the saving...) "Serpent's Egg" (Christie's childhood and adolescence as she finds a career for herself in a job where "sociopath" is actually an asset, told in the style of an espionage/suspense thriller. I ought to do a sequel one of these days) "Snowflakes" (Sometimes you're just looking for fluff, and if you are, this is my personal favorite among my fluffy stories; like nearly all of my NanoFate fics, it owes its existence to RadiantBeam) "U Turnabout" (I wanted to create a story which was as close to a single-trial-day Phoenix Wright case as I could, and I think this one succeeds fairly well) "Steel Wings" (my favorite of the Steel Queen Chronicle shorts) Stahlkonigin (a full-length novel featuring Vivio -- see below) The Final Problem (a full-length novel which brings the "Elementary, My Dear Natsuki" series metaplot to its major climax -- also see below for the rest of the series) "The Pirates of the Meribian" (A backstory fic featuring Mel de Alkirk, how he met Jessica's mother, his epic fight with Dragonmaster Dyne--oh, and piracy, loot, lost treasure, curses, romance, and all kinds of swashing and buckling. Plus more pirate accents than you can shake a stick at, ahrrr!) "Do the Gods Love Their Creations?" (A series of vignettes combining an unusual romance with an exploration of lore in FromSoft's masterpiece, Bloodborne) Fanart Yes, I can now squee madly (and not be *quite* so ravingly jealous of my wife _- ), because yuiseppe has done some utterly amazing fanart to go with "The Hollow Heart"! Take a look (just remove the spaces from the links), and check out her other art while you're browsing! "Holy Intervention": http:///?loggedin=1#/d3h0rta "Measured Insanity": http:///?loggedin=1#/d3f8doq "Master of Hell": http:///?loggedin=1#/d3gv41q And now, she's added another awesome piece from my most popular series, Natsuki from the "Elementary, My Dear Natsuki" stories (squee!): "Natsuki, Watsuki": http:///#/d4gm9fa "Shizuru, Shizlock": http:///art/EDMN-Shizuru-Shizlock-269924626?q=gallery&qo=1 And Krystal-of-Nol has done a really cute cover for "Duran and Kiyohime's Omake Theater" (I can really see them playing with their ShizNat plushies!): http:///art/MH-Duran-and-Kiyohime-s-Omake-Theater-351851631 Zephyrus Genesis did a multi-page comic of the climactic action scene of "Burning Gold" between Yang and Roman Torchwick!: http:///art/Burning-Gold-478627618 The Steel Queen Chronicle This moderately pretentious title is for my "alternate character interpretation" stories about Nanoha and Fate's daughter Vivio in Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha. Although generally I despise "kid" characters, Vivio somehow became my second-favorite character (after Fate) in the entire franchise. Maybe it's because she's just so darned cute, or maybe it's because I'm a yuri fanboy and her "two mamas" moment set off a giant ball of squee, or maybe it's because her reaction to getting nailed with five, count 'em, five Starlight Breakers was "I can walk out of the crater myself, mama!" In any case, I like her a lot, and began a series of stories which detail her beginning her military career and growing up, learning new powers, and developing new responsibilities. When I began this series, it was more of a "possible future" idea, but now two new Nanoha manga have begun--one of which is actually centered on Vivio!--which have a different take on the character than where I went with her (though it's kind of fun seeing where I actually got some things right, such as Mariel being the one to design Vivio's new device, or being called "Your Majesty" continuing to embarrass her). The stories in this series are: "The Road Onward": In which 10-year-old Vivio accepts the responsibility of a new Device and a new trainer. "Shell Game": In which 11-year-old Vivio gets her first taste of "real" magical combat and learns an important lesson about working with what's available to her. "Steel Wings": In which 12-year-old Vivio confronts her limitations head-on and deals with some personal issues between herself and Nanoha. (My personal favorite among the short stories) "Memory of a Saint": In which 13-year-old Vivio goes on a field trip only to have to call on her heritage to prevent a disaster. Stahlkönigin: In which 15-year-old Vivio has to take a stand and discover what she's truly made of when a new enemy threatens Cranagan. Hayate's appointment to Regius Gaiz's old position as Commander of the Ground Armnaments Service, Capital City Defense Force, may be over almost as it begins as a smuggled piece of stolen military technology, a terrorist group, and computer crimes come together to lay Midchilda under seige, unless Fate's investigative skills, Nanoha's magic, and Vivio's will can combine to thwart a world-spanning plot. "Caramel Milk": A side-story to the series where Vivio's romantic problems remind her of how she first came to like her signature drink (full of Nanoha-Vivio mother-daughter sweetness, almost as cavity-inducing as the drink itself!). In addition, certain "gag" fics from "Vivio's Happy Family Magical Theater" take place in this series, including "How Reputations are Made," "Do as Your Mother Would Do," "More Fun To Swing (That Way) Together." "Yuuno Definitely Helped Raise Her," and technically "The Big Blue Dog is Her What?" The single-chapter fic, "Driven by Rumor" is also set in this series (it contains a definite reference to "Steel Wings"), although it's about Nanoha and Fate. Elementary, My Dear Natsuki This series has grown so much that I figured it needs a separate section. Basically, it's an alternate universe My-HiME series which features Shizuru as Sherlock Holmes and Natsuki as Watson, with other cast members in a variety of supporting arcs. The "main arc" consists of a six-part braided novel (of which Part 4 ran headalong into brutal, hopeless writer's block, but the rest of which is done!), and there are also occasional side-stories. Now with awesome fanart by yuiseppe! http:///art/EDMN-Shizlock-and-Watsuki-269925526?q=gallery&qo=0 #1: "Elementary, My Dear Natsuki" (complete) Lastly, here's a chronology of my GrimGrimoire fiction, because I tend to hop around a bit and it's not always obvious where, precisely, they fall in relation to one another (especially important in the sequels, where the game chronology doesn't give a guide). I'm using Lillet's status as the major timing factor, even though she's not in all of my stories, since she's the protagonist. Before the Game During the Game Post-Regular Game; Lillet at Silver Star Tower Post-Regular Game; Lillet as Royal Magician Post-Regular Game; Lillet as Mage Consul (Pre-Epilogue) After the Epilogue Much Later... |
