AN: Enjoy!
Once the battle against Ultron was over, and the Maximoff twins joined the Avengers and moved into the Avengers Compound, it quickly became clear that Wanda Maximoff was more than the angry, troubled young woman they'd been led to believe.
Her reasons, and Pietro's, for getting involved in Hydra's experiments was not to become weapons of war. They'd wanted to end the wars, end the bloodshed, wanted to keep other children from losing parents the same way that they had.
Wanda, while carrying a fiery personality, was kind-hearted. She fussed over her brother, Mothering him, despite the fact that he was the older twin. She trimmed his hair when needed, patched his clothes if they were torn.
In time, this fussing extended to the other Avengers, too.
She left cups of tea at Natasha's bedroom door, never telling anyone when she heard the Black Widow wake up screaming in the night, begging unseen assailants not to take away someone called 'Yelena'.
Wanda made sure Steve had extra blankets in his room on wintery nights, because he didn't like being cold, and when Steve eventually brought his broken, tortured, traumatised best friend Bucky Barnes to the compound, she did the same for him.
Wanda was always patient and kind with Vision, kindly answering any questions he had that his internet brain could not sufficiently answer for him. She treated him as a person, an individual, helped him discover his likes (one of which was Wanda) and dislikes, and his own sense of style, so he could do human things like personalise his room, and buy his own clothes. She scolded Pietro if he teased Vision.
Getting to the point, Wanda Maximoff just really liked taking care of people. One of the ways she accomplished this was through cooking for everyone. Hearty soups or stews after a mission, a cake for someone's birthday, chicken soup if anyone was feeling unwell. Wanda had, more or less, become the team's unofficial Chef.
On those occasions when everybody was in the compound at once, Wanda would cook a special meal that they could all sit down and eat together.
Vision could not eat, but he could smell, and the pleasant aromas of Wanda's cooking almost never failed to lure him to the Kitchen. For a while, he had just watched as she cooked, but eventually, she began encouraging him to join her. She made him into her sous chef, teaching him things he could help her do without tasting, such as preheating ovens, or beating eggs. Guiding his hands as she taught him how to knead dough, pressing rather close to Vision as she did so, and making him blush in a way that only Wanda ever really saw. Vision had been too embarrassed by said blushing to notice that Wanda had usually been blushing too.
On one particular day, a day that Vision would always remember, Thor was returning to the compound after an extended trip away, and Wanda was cooking up a storm to celebrate. She had a pan of what Vision now recognised by scent as Chicken Paprikash, bubbling away on the stove when Vision wandered into the Kitchen.
"Hey, Vizh!" Wanda grinned at him, making his synthetic heart flutter, and a strange warm feeling coil in his belly. "Get over here, you're just in time to help me with the cake. Do you think chocolate will do?
"Oh, of course. Chocolate always seems to be a popular choice" Vision happily trotted into the kitchen.
He liked helping Wanda cook, but he especially liked helping with any sort of baking. Baking was science, and chemical reactions, both of which he understood more than spices and flavour profiles.
Wanda showed him her recipe, and they gathered the ingredients. Vision followed Wanda's instructions, blushing, a strange spark of electricity seeming to jolt through him when their fingers brushed as Wanda handed him a measuring cup.
"Mix the dry ingredients first.." Wanda told him, a slight hitch in her breath. "Then wet, remember?"
"I.. I d-do" Vision nodded, not sure why he'd stuttered.
While Wanda moved to preheat the oven, Vision tried to calm himself, and set about mixing the cake, first the dry ingredients, then the wet. He mixed quickly, until the ingredients blended into a perfect, smooth, shiny batter, then poured it into the cake pan Wanda provided.
"Mmm, that looks perfect Vizh.." She admired the batter, then turned to look at him, her brow crinkling. "Oh.."
"What?" Vision frowned, looking at the batter. "Did I mess it up? Are there lumps?"
"No.." Wanda reached up, cupping his cheek, "You have a little bit of chocolate, right in the corner of your mouth.."
In that moment, Wanda made a decision. She and Vision had been dancing around each other for a while, she because she was worried about pushing him into anything before he was ready, and he because he couldn't quite recognise the signs Wanda sent his way. But the stalemate had to break sometime.
So, Wanda kissed Vision. And though he was taken a little by surprise, Vision kissed her back. That day, Vision realised that though he could not eat, he could, in fact, taste. He could taste the remnants of the chocolate that had been on his face, in addition to a soft, sweet, wonderful flavour that was uniquely Wanda. Vision wanted to taste more, so he pulled Wanda closer, deepening the kiss, and a soft moan escaped Wanda's mouth. They broke the kiss just long enough to smile at one another, before Wanda leaned in again.
But then..
"Eugh! What are you doing? People eat in here you know.." Pietro interrupted, his nose wrinkling in disgust, as he wandered in to raid the fridge.
"Oh dear.." Wanda smirked, her eyes twinkling with mischief, while Vision blushed furiously. "I'm sorry if we've put you off your food, brother. I suppose that means you won't be wanting any Paprikash tonight.."
"Oh no, sister" Pietro shook his head quickly, "I could never turn down Paprikash."
"Great!" Wanda grinned, tugging on Vision's hand. "So you won't mind watching the stove for a moment while I go show Vision my new, er, house plant.."
As Wanda dragged a confused Vision away, Pietro sighed, annoyed with himself.
"I think I have been played.."
As Wanda dragged Vision into her room, the synthezoid looked around, confused.
"I do not see a new plant, Wanda.."
"There is no plant" Wanda chuckled, wrapping her arms around his neck. "I just wanted to kiss you again without interruptions."
"Oh" Vision grinned a goofy grin, wrapping his arms around her and leaning in, already addicted to the taste of her lips. "Well, that is perfectly fine with me.."
