AN: Enjoy!
Tony Stark could never resist an excuse to have a party. Especially not a fun excuse such as Halloween.
And of course, all the Avengers were expected to attend. Especially the newest ones, who, though they had been serving in the roles successfully for a while now, shouldn't waste a chance to build goodwill. They were also expected to wear costumes.
Stark had offered to provide costumes for anyone who had struggled to find one. Wanda Maximoff knew she should have known better than to accept said offer. The 'genie' costume that had turned up at her door showed a bit more skin than she would have liked, but she had no time to properly fix it before the party, which, of course, she had no choice but to attend.
While Tony Stark had settled down with Pepper Potts, most of the friends he'd made in his 'party hard' years, who still attended his present day parties, were not quite so settled down. Wanda spent a significant part of the Halloween Party huddled in a corner trying to avoid drawing attention to herself. Eventually, however, she was noticed by a slightly drunk party-goer, who approached her with a swagger and an unpleasant grin.
"Hey babe, where do I rub to get my three wishes granted?"
The man reached for her, and Wanda, startled, very nearly threw him across the room with her powers, before Vision stepped between them, appearing seemingly from nowhere like a magical guardian angel.
The synthezoid was wearing jeans, a strange black wig, and a leather jacket with 'T-Birds' emblazoned across the back, an ensemble that looked rather odd against the shade of his purple-red skin.
"Sir, you are clearly making Miss Maximoff uncomfortable" Vision frowned. "If you do not stop, I will have to ask you to leave."
"Aww, come on, man. I was just trying to have some fun.."
"Miss Maximoff is clearly not. Now step away, before I am forced to escort you from the premises."
"Fine.." The drunk man huffed, stomping off.
Vision turned to Wanda.
"Shall we step outside for some air?"
"Yes" Wanda nodded. "That is a great idea.."
"Thanks for that" Wanda told him, when they had made it safely outside. "I was about three seconds away from making a scene.."
"As your friend, you would have been justified in doing so" Vision replied. "But, as Avengers, it is best that any such incidents with civilians, even highly unpleasant ones, are kept to a minimum."
"That's fair" Wanda shivered slightly at a gust of cool wind.
"Oh dear, are you cold? Here.." Vision took off his jacket, draping it around Wanda's shoulders.
"Are you sure?" She frowned, yet instinctively pulled the jacket around herself, happy to be more covered up. "I wouldn't want to ruin your outfit.."
"Oh, it's alright" Vision smiled, a sweet smile that Wanda was growing to like very much. "I'm not even entirely sure what I am supposed to be, Mr Stark picked it out.."
"Oh? You're Danny Zuko."
"What?"
"The main character from Grease" Wanda explained. "My brother used to love that movie. He'd jump up on the sofa and do all the Greased Lightnin' dance moves."
"I see.." said Vision, though he still sounded rather confused.
"Hey, instead of checking your big computer brain like I know you're about to do" Wanda smirked, and Vision blushed, "How about we just watch the movie together one day?"
"Of course" Vision's eyes lit up. Wanda had already introduced him to quite a few sitcoms he enjoyed. "I would like that."
"Me too."
They wandered about for a while in comfortable silence, until Vision spoke again.
"May I ask what your costume is, Wanda?"
"A genie, I think? I'm not entirely sure, Stark chose mine too."
"That makes sense.. It does not seem like something you would have chosen for yourself."
"I don't really know what I would have chosen for myself.." Wanda shrugged. "I haven't celebrated Halloween since my Mother died. She always made our costumes."
"I'm sorry.." said Vision. "Perhaps next year, we should help each other choose our costumes, so we do not have to rely on Mr. Stark's er, questionable taste.."
"Sounds like a plan" Wanda chuckled. "And Vizh?"
"Yes, Wanda?"
She stood up on tip-toe to kiss Vision's cheek, giggling when it turned a deeper shade of red.
"Thank you again."
"Y-You're welcome. Shall we head back inside now?"
"Yes" Wanda linked arms with Vision, feeling safe with him close. "We probably should."
Chaos had ensued in their absence. After striking out with Wanda, Mr Drunk Party-Goer had made the horrible decision to try and hit on Natasha, who absolutely was not having it, and had knocked him out cold.
Wanda couldn't help but laugh, and Vision, finding the sound rather infectious, was soon laughing too.
By the following year, Wanda and Vision were attending the Stark Halloween Party together, as a couple. Vision was examining himself in the mirror, making a few last minute adjustments to his outfit. He was dressed as a Mexican wrestler.. Wanda's idea, as he would not have to bother hiding his face.
Satisfied with how he looked, he reached into a drawer, pulling out a small velvet ring box and popping it open to inspect the ring inside. He hoped Wanda liked it. Not many would think a Stark Halloween party was the right place to propose, but for Wanda and Vision, it was where they had begun, so it seemed somehow fitting.
Hearing Wanda's footsteps approaching, he closed the box and shoved it into the pocket of his yellow shorts just before she stepped into the room.
"How do I look, Vizh?" Wanda did a twirl for him, her red cape fluttering as she did so. She was also wearing a figure-hugging red leotard, pink tights, and a red headdress.
"The most beautiful Sokovian Fortune Teller I have ever seen" Vision grinned, pecking her lips.
"Thank you" Wanda blushed. "Are you ready?"
"Yes" Vision smiled to himself, thinking about the ring in his pocket as he linked arms with her and headed out the door. "I'm ready."
