Over the coming weeks, the Saurian battleships attacked and fired at any remaining Changelings within a 100 mile radius of Isla Sauro to drive them permanently away. Along with many dragons attacking them, as the conflict between them increases.
But on Isla Sauro, many band together to bring factories to life to avenge Saurian Harbor.
Roosevelt was reading a paper as George opened the doors as the Admiral Gorgosaurus and Marshall Tarbosaurus entered the room.
"Sir, I think we have an idea how to bomb the Changelings." The Admiral Gorgosaurus said.
"Sir, it's risky... but it's bold." The Tarbosaurus said.
Roosevelt then noticed a Giganotoraptor behind them. "Who are you?"
"I, sir?" The Giganotoraptor said. "Captain Low, sir."
"He's a submariner." The Admiral Gorgosaurus said. "He came up with this idea."
"I like sub commanders." Roosevelt said. "They don't have time for heck, and neither do I. Fire away, gentlemen."
At Saurian Harbor, a trumpet was played as a funeral was held of the lives that were lost from the attack. As many gathered around fallen friends or family members.
And Red was sadly by Betty's casket as he was in tears of an entire future with her was gone. And Evelyn placed a hand on Red's shoulder as her other friends were sadden.
Close by, Dorie got to Captain Mervyn's casket.
"Hey, Captain." Dorie greeted and saluted.
Close by, Evelyn turns to Dorie as he saw her and nodded and soon walks off. Elsewhere, Jay's family along with his mother Whitetip, Echo, Delta and Charlie were by a casket that held his father that sadly died as well when he took a laser beam to the neck while protecting Whitetip. At least they knew he didn't suffer.
Later, Rafe, Danny, Toothless and Windshear were approached by a Sinraptor.
"Lieutenants Rafe McCawley, Daniel Walker, Toothless Fury and Windshear Razor." The Sinraptor said.
"Yes, Major?" Rafe said.
"You're all going stateside." The Sinraptor said. "Fly out in 2 hours."
"What for, sir?" Danny asked as he hands them files.
"Ask Colonel Doolittle." The Sinraptor said and walks off.
"Yes, sir." Rafe said.
Later, Rafe was packing his things as Evelyn appeared.
"You're packing." Evelyn said.
"Orders." Rafe said.
"What kind of orders?" Evelyn asked.
Rafe sighed. "The top-secret kind."
"The dangerous kind." Evelyn said.
Later, everyone assigned to Doolittle started boarding an airship.
At a hanger, a few dinosaurs checked a few Saurian D-25 bomber planes.
"Follow me." An Allosaurus said.
Rafe, Danny, Toothless and Windshear followed him as they entered an office.
"Colonel." The Allosaurus said.
Doolittle turns to them.
"Congratulations on your promotion, sir." Rafe said.
"I heard what you did." Doolittle said.
"We can explain that, sir." Rafe said.
"Explain what?" Doolittle asked turning to them.
"Whatever it is you heard about us, sir." Danny said.
"You mean the hula shirts you were flying in?" Doolittle inquired. "Or the 7 Changelings you shot down? You're all being awarded the Silver Star and promoted to captain."
"Is that the good news, sir, or...?" Rafe asked.
"You're just about the only pilots in the Army with combat experience." Doolittle said. "I need you for a mission. I've been ordered to put together." He stared at the window and looks back to them. "You know what top secret is?"
"Yes, sir." Rafe answered. "It's the kind of mission where you get medals. But they send 'em to your relatives."
"Top secret means you train for something never done before in aviation history and you go without knowing where you're going." Doolittle stated correctly. "You do it on that basis or not at all."
"I'll go, sir." Rafe said.
Doolittle turns to Danny.
"I'll go, too, sir." Danny said.
"Me as well." Toothless said.
"Me too, sir." Windshear said.
"By the way, Toothless the fleet sent you over your personal effects." Doolittle said handing Toothless a box of items that he left behind.
"Thank you, sir." Toothless said.
"There's only 1 more thing I can tell you." Doolittle said. "Leave your gosh-darn hula shirts at home."
March 3
Rafe, Danny, Toothless, Windshear and all their other friends stood side by side with other members assigned as they were in the hanger as Doolittle appeared them. And Tyrant and Indom stood by.
Doolittle nears the group.
"The mission I'm asking you to volunteer for is exceptional dangerous." Doolittle said. "Take a good look at the one besides you. It's a good bet that in the next 6 weeks... you or he... will be dead. Everyone brave enough to accept this... step forward."
They then all stepped forward as one.
They all followed Doolittle outside of the hanger as 4 D-25s flew overhead.
"Your grandmother could take a D-25 off on a mile-long runway." Doolittle said. "Well, I'm gonna train you to do it in 467 feet. Because in 468 feet... you're dead. And once you get it up you'll gonna learn to fly it like a fighter... 30 feet off the ground. I want you to say hello to Lieutenant Jack Richards, Navy Aviation."
Behind him was a Velociraptor.
"He's gonna helps us lighten these fat ladies here." Doolittle said.
Soon, they were all stripping any unneeded parts from the planes to make it lighter.
"Dump that ash can." Jack said. "See that bomb sight? Get rid of it."
"Colonel, he's crazy!" Rafe said in a D-25 cockpit.
"The lady's fat!" Jack said.
"Listen to him." Doolittle said.
"She's fat-lady. We want a skinny lady!" Jack said.
Soon, 4 D-25s were on the runway ready for testing, and the runway was labeled every 50 feet and the red flag was marked at 467 feet.
The first D-25 begins to line up on the runway.
"Max power!" Rafe said.
He pushed the lever as the D-25 quickly rolls across the runway.
"Get up, get up, get up." Rafe said.
But the D-25 rolled pass the red line.
"Dang!" Rafe cursed.
"How the heck did..." Red said.
"Dang!" Doolittle said.
Soon, another D-25 turns getting into place on the runway, and then quickly rolls forward as it's nose gear got off the ground, but still didn't get airborne as it passes the red line.
"They just keep rolling past that line." Doolittle said to Jack at sunset.
"Maybe this mission's a bad idea." Jack said having doubts.
"No, they're too heavy." Doolittle said determined. "We gotta get drastic with these planes."
"This armor plating's gotta go." Jack said to a Velociraptor inside the plane. "I'm sure, I'm sure. Now, lose it like a skirt, son."
Soon, Danny was in a D-25 on the runway.
"Release brakes!" Danny said.
The D-25 begins to quickly roll across the runway.
"Come on, come on, come on, come on." Danny said pulling the controls.
But the D-25 had it's nose gear up as it rolls pass the red line.
"Man!" Danny complained.
"Put every one on the line, now!" Doolittle said turning to Rafe and heads off.
Everyone soon gathered by the 467 foot mark, and Doolittle was in a D-25 with it's engines at max RPM.
"Let's show these boys how this thing is done!" Doolittle said.
He pushed the lever as the D-25 charges across the runway.
"COME ON!" Doolittle yelled. "Max power!"
The D-25 quickly rolls across the runway as it's nose gear got off the ground.
Everyone watched as then the D-25 got off the ground as it flew pass the 467 foot mark and they all cheered.
"Well, if he can do it..." Rafe said.
Later, Rafe and Doolittle watched as 4 D-25s flew in formation with a few dragons with them as they flew by.
Doolittle then laughed.
April 2, ISS Talon
A fleet of Saurian ships sailed across the ocean heading north escorting the ISS Talon as several Mosasaurs and sea dragons traveled with them.
And the carrier's deck hauls 16 D-25s, 4 Saurian Ospreys and Indom's airship.
"Well, gentlemen, now I can tell you that we're going to Changeling Kingdom." Doolittle said to everyone. "And we're gonna bomb it."
Everyone then cheered.
"That comes as a special request directly from Roosevelt." Doolittle said. "The navy's gonna sneak us about 400 miles off the west Equestrian coast and we'll launch from the carrier there."
"Has that ever even been done before?" Gooz asked. "Taking army bombers off navy carriers?"
"No." Doolittle said.
"OK." Gooz said.
"Any other questions?" Doolittle questioned.
"Well, sir, is it even possible to land a D-25 on an aircraft carrier deck?" Rafe asked.
"That's won't matter." Doolittle said. "As soon as we're airborne, the carrier will head straight back for Sauro."
"But if the carriers head home, where do we land?" Anthony asked.
"Another team will be waiting on the east coast at a remote section." Doolittle said.
Sometime later, Rafe, Danny, Toothless and Windshear were standing by the end of the carrier runway.
"It ain't gonna be any easier." Rafe said. "That's 3 feet shorter than our practice runway."
"Will you relax?" Toothless said. "As long as the carrier is at the right speed, and the right wind, they'll get in the air."
"Fellas?" Doolittle said approaching them.
"Sir." Rafe said.
"Sir." Danny said.
"Secretary of the Navy gave me these." Doolittle said holding what looked fake medals.
"What are they?" Danny asked.
"Truce medals the Changelings unknowingly left us when they were pretending to want peace." Doolittle said.
"What'll you do with them?" Rafe asked.
"Wire them to the bombs and give them back." Doolittle said.
"Oh, we'll give them back, all right." Windshear smirked. "Fast and furious."
"So what's going on?" Doolittle asked.
"Well, sir, we only have 16 planes." Rafe said.
"Along with 4 ospreys, Indom's own airship, and 18 dragons." Toothless added. "And a few pterosaurs as well.
"So?" Doolittle inquired.
"Well, when the Bugs hits us, they had more than 300." Rafe said. "I mean, how much difference can we make?"
"It's not that we're afraid, sir." Danny said. "It's just that we might die, and we want to know what's it for."
Doolittle thought for a moment. "You know, at Saurian, they hit us with a sledgehammer. This raid, even if we make it through... it'll only be a pinprick. But it will be straight through their hearts. Victory belongs to those that believe in it the most, and believe in it the longest. We're gonna believe. We're gonna make Sauro believe, too." He then heads off.
"Colonel?" Jack called out. "I need a minute."
Back in Isla Sauro, Evelyn was waiting by a 4-wheeled vehicle as the Dakotaraptor with the healed neck wound appeared.
"Excuse me, Major Jackson?" Evelyn said.
"Yes?" Jackson said.
"Do you remember me?" Evelyn asked.
Jackson soon recognized her. "Oh, sure I do. I'm sorry. I've been meaning to thank you."
"Well, maybe you can." Evelyn said. "When the news starts coming in about those boys in the Doolittle outfit, I want to be in the command post."
Jackson then got uneasy. "I'm sorry. I don't know what you're talking about." He got into the 4-wheeled vehicle. "How the heck do you know about this mission, Lieutenant?"
"Let's call it an inadvertent disclosure." Evelyn said as simple as she could.
"You mean some flyboy you're dating shot his mouth off." Jackson said.
"Actually, it's about 2 pilots." Evelyn said. "I know they're going into great danger. I just want to be be there when the news comes in to tell us if they've lived or died."
Jackson then sighed. "Most officers would have thrown you in the brig."
"Most nurses would've gone to someone else instead of keeping their fingers plugged in your artery." Evelyn said.
Jackson then starts the vehicle's engine.
"I can't promise you anything." Jackson said.
Over 3,000 miles to the north, the Saurian fleet was now heading west as a platform was raised up with bombs for the raid.
"Hey, Red, you think they picked us to do this cause we're young and dumb?" Gooz asked Red painting an angry dinosaur on the side of a D-25 while holding a camera.
"Come on, Gooz, we're the tip of the sword." Red said.
Shortly later, some of the bombs were labeled as one was for Betty, and the fake medals were also wired to them as well.
Soon, each D-25 was loaded with 4 bombs each.
"Alright, in honor of our trip to Equestria." Gooz said holding a box. "I got us some... victory cigars!" He held some cigars out.
Rafe couldn't help laughed.
"Yeah! Victory cigars." Gooz said. "There you go. Put that in your inside pocket, next to your heart."
Nearby, Doolittle stood by a staircase as Jack was with him.
"You know, Jack, we may lose this battle, but we're gonna win this war." Doolittle said. "You know how I know?"
"No." Jack said.
"Them." Doolittle gestured to Rafe, Danny, Toothless and Windshear. "Because they're rare. And at times like these, you see them... stepping forward. There's nothing stronger than the heart of a volunteer, Jack."
Later, everyone was in a room as Doolittle spoke.
"My friends in the war department don't want me to lead this raid... because they say I'm too valuable." Doolittle said. "They don't want me up in the air flying with the men I've chosen... that I've chewed out, cursed out, pushed to the limit... and I've come to respect. They want me to stand on the flight deck and wave you off. Well, I don't see it that way. So I'm going with you."
Everyone then turned to each other.
"We take off tomorrow afternoon... drop your fire, and head for eastern Equestria." Doolittle said. "Our mission is to hit Changeling targets anything they have there."
"Colonel, you've given us the homing beacons but you before told us Equestria is overrun with pony troops." Stormfly said. "What do we do if the beacons are switched off?"
"You bring her down any way you can, and do your best to avoid capture." Doolittle informed.
"What'd we do if our planes are damaged and we have to bail out over Changeling Kingdom?" Anthony asked.
"Well, in that situation, I can't tell you what you should do." Doolittle said.
"What would you do, Colonel?" Rafe asked.
Doolittle thought for a moment. "I wasn't built to be a prisoner... so I would have my crew bail out. I'd find the sweetest military target I could and drive my plane right smack into the middle of it... and kill as many of those dastards as I possibly could. But that's just me. I'm 45 years old, I'm an old raptor. You guys got your whole lives ahead of you. So what you do is up to you."
