Prompt: Day 5—Chances

Summary: She would like to take her chance, even if it would probably kill her when she was over.

"Just take a deep breath. You can do this Lu-chan!"

Lucy only offered Levy a strained smile as she could feel herself already sweating from all the nerves. It didn't help to add to matters that today was the hottest day of summer yet and she felt like she was already melting in her seat. Not even her milkshake could help cool her off as she took a nervous sip. Eyes glancing towards the closed guild doors a couple of times which didn't escape the gaze of a certain barmaid.

"Anything the matter Lucy?" Lucy gave Mira the best smile she could as she shook her head. She must have been looking scared out of her skin with the concerned look Mira was giving her but she couldn't help it. Her nerves were absolutely eating up at her and every second made her want to back out of this. Unfortunately, she had already made Levy hold her reliable so she had no choice but to go through with this.

Drats past-Lucy for thinking this through.

"I'm alright Mira," Mira's eyebrows were still burrowed down but nodded as she quickly walked towards the other side of the bar when she was called.

"You'll be fine," Levy patted her friend's back sympathetically, rubbing small circles as she gave her friend a soft smile. Her eyes were sparkling with mischievous intent but decided to keep it to herself for now. Lucy was honestly looking like she was just dragged out of the sea and she didn't need any more pressure added. ...Levy would just wait to tease her after.

Lucy only nodded as she took in her friend's words, nibbling on her bottom lip as she absent-mindlessly tapped on the top of the bar. She rolled her shoulders back as she took in a breath, turning to her blue-haired friend with a smile. Still nervous, but a little more relaxed.

"You know what… you're right! I'll be fine. Absolutely fi-"

Bang.

"Yo!"

"Aye!"

"Not fine!" Lucy couldn't help but raise her voice a little as her back straightened out as straight as a board.

Levy held Lucy still as the girl struggled to try to run out of the guild, turning the blonde around to scold her, "Lu-chan! You've made it this far!"

"But Levy," the blonde-haired couldn't help but squeal as a sudden blush covered her cheeks. Alligator tears springing up but the blue-haired girl held her resolve as she held her in a tight grip.

"Yo," Lucy jumped when a warm-familiar arm wrapped around her shoulder and her eyes widened as she met the gaze of her pink-haired teammate. He gave her his usual bright grin, nodding at Levy before looking back at Lucy with curious eyes. "Are you guys wrestling?"

Oh god she was going to die.

"N-no! W-we aren't!" The girl squeaked out, gripping onto an escaping Levy's hands.

"I'm going to go—over—there," the solid-script mage let out a grunt as she finally freed herself from the blonde's grasps. Only sending the girl a sly look before leaving towards the back of the guild with her team. "See ya Lu-chan, Natsu!"

While Natsu briefly nodded to the retreating girl, Lucy took the next couple of seconds to panic. Everything she had rehearsed the last couple of days only flashing in a blur. Turning into a gooey mess in her brain once the man redirected his attention to her. Her tongue suddenly felt dry.

"H-hey," she greeted quietly, slurping down her milkshake. She looked to the left to catch her blue-haired friend's attention. Blinking a couple of times and slightly pouting her lips around her straw as discreetly as she could. Levy, who had quickly caught onto what the blonde meant, sent her a small glare. Shaking her head sharply before crossing her forearms over one-another. If possible, she seemed to sulk into her seat more.

"What are you doing weirdo?" She jumped as she looked to her right, forgetting about him being right next to her.

"N-nothing! I'm not doing anything at all, hahaha!" She could feel sweat dripping down her neck as she tried to avoid the male's narrowed eyes.

The male watched her for a while before shrugging, just dismissing it as girl stuff. Learning from his last lesson. He knew Lucy had a great punch and kick but who knew she would cause some serious damage with her knee. Her knee! He winced at the memory, the bruise left on his forehead had lasted for days.

"Well if you say so weirdo," He just shrugged before turning around. When he took a step away from her, her heart gave a lurch as she stared wide-eyed at the solid-script mage. The petite wizard only sent her blonde friend another scowl, moving her hands to shoo the girl. Lucy took in a breath, before snapping her gaze back to the fire mage.

"I'll see ya-"

"N-Natsu!" She blushed as she had caught the attention of some people closer to them but kept her gaze. Even Natsu looked a little surprised at her sudden outburst.

He blinked blankly for a couple of seconds before his eyes widened a little. Taking a small step back before squinting his eyes, "...Yea?"

Lucy internally cried, pleading one last look to a stoic Levy before turning around to face the fire mage. The one who was currently backing away with a nervous step.

"I need to..," she licked her lips nervously as her voice started to get smaller, "-Talk to you…" She fiddled with the ends of her hair as she let out a nervous giggle.

"Oh, do you really? Hahaha," he closed his eyes as he smiled, rubbing the back of his neck as sweat started to pile onto his skin, "Well, you see I'm busy right now so-"

"N-no! I need to speak to you n-now!" Natsu yelped as Lucy suddenly took him by the ends of his scarf and dragged him out of the guild. Not leaving without gaining a couple of cat-calls and curious eyes.

When she had finally let go of his scarf, Natsu had taken in a grateful breath as he took in the mostly empty park. They stood under the main tree, covered by it's shadow from the sun but he could still see the blonde glistening with newfound sweat. She bounced from one foot to the other as she clenched and unclenched her fist.

Before he could make a run for it, Lucy whispered out, "I… I… I really need to t-talk to you!"

Natsu could feel his nerves suddenly picking up again as he let out a shaky laugh, "Y-yea? What is it?"

"There's no way… right?" the male couldn't help but nervously lick his lips. He had been so positive that he and Happy had hidden it well.

"It's just… you make me feel so crazy sometimes! The things you do to me, I just… I just…"

Natsu's eyes widened as he flinched when she brought up her hands, taking a step back as he stared at her hands and legs with narrowed eyes. He knew what those things could do.

"And...it's just, I can't hold it back anymore!"

Natsu's eyes widened as he raised his arms. Mentally starting to pray for Mavis's protection as he blurted out the first excuse he could think of just as Lucy shouted.

"I-I love you!"

"It was Happy's idea to play with your new underwear first!"

"…"

"Wait, you love me too!?"

The only sound that rang out through the park was of the distant laughter of children and the occasional barks of dogs. Natsu felt a bead of sweat drop down his forehead as he took a slight shaky step back. Gulping nervously as he stared at the stock still girl.

"What did you say?"

He felt a shiver go down his back, grinning at her nervously, "...but I mean, I 'm in love with you too, so…"

When the day had ended, Lucy felt satisfied. Not only was she with her the love of her life, but she also got vengeance on her missing pair of Heart Kreuz undergarments by giving the pink-haired pyro a good bashing.

Note: Another shorter one-shot. Just wanted to do something a little sillier but not so sure I executed it the way I would have liked it. May come back to rewrite this someday. Also can you believe that there are only two more days left after this? Honestly feels like I just started but I hope I can make a big finale. On another note, have a great day/night!
