Summary- In which Natsu gets sick and the only one he can get comfort from is Lucy.
Natsu moaned and whined as he lied in one of the cots in the infirmary. His stomach felt like it was tying itself up in knots, clenching and unclenching, and he could feel the pain from his sternum to maybe an inch below his navel. He tossed and turned in bed, trying to get comfortable, but it was so hard because the mattress was so springy and stiff.
Lucy, meanwhile, sat next to him with worry etched on her face. She couldn't help but feel partly at fault as she watched him writhe in agony, arms hugging his flat abdomen. She was out on a job with him when they were jumped by these dark wizards, who attempted to hit Lucy with his magic, but Natsu jumped in the way and ate it, combining it with his Dragon Slayer magic to defeat the Dark Wizards. Unfortunately, after they got back, that's when Natsu's stomachache started to kick in.
It was almost funny to her how he could eat tons of food and not get ill from it, and yet when he ate magic that didn't match with his element, he was down for the count.
"Uuuugghh...!" Natsu groaned. "Ohh, man, my stomach...!"
"How's he doing, Lucy?" asked Haru as she peeked in to check on her adoptive older brother.
"Still feeling pretty sickly," Lucy answered.
"Hmm... maybe I should ask Mira to make him some bread," Haru suggested. "It could soak up all the magic he's got in his stomach." With that, she turned and walked out, leaving the Celestial Spirit Wizard to tend to Natsu, who let out another pained moan as he clutched at his stomach.
"Make it stoooooop!" he whined.
"Natsu, it's gonna be okay," Lucy assured as she stroked his hair. "You just gotta let this run its course, that's all."
"Ugh... but I don't want it to...!" Natsu whimpered.
Lucy could only look at him with sympathy. She was trying to comfort him as best she could, but she felt like it wasn't working. She felt like there had to be something she could do to make the pain easier on him.
"Natsu?" Lucy asked, causing him to crack one eye open at her, although he winced slightly when he felt his stomach cramping again. "Is there something I can do make things more comfortable for you? Something I can do to take the pain away?"
Natsu just stared at her, grunting as he felt another wave of pain in his stomach... then, without a single warning, he just reached out and grabbed the blonde by her wrist, and with a forceful tug, Lucy suddenly found herself lying in the bed next to him!
"W-what the-?!" Lucy stammered, her face turning as red as a tomato. "Natsu, what are you doing?! Why did you-"
"Rub..."
"Huh?" Lucy muttered as her brown eyes met Natsu's onyx ones... soft and pained as he placed her palm over his chiseled abdominal muscles... and she could have sworn she felt her heart pounding as she felt them clench and ripple underneath her fingers.
"Rub it..." he murmured. "Rub my belly, Luce... please...!"
At first, she was getting ready to protest... until she saw the pleading look in his eyes, and a small whimper escaped his mouth, and that only made Lucy's heart melt at the sight of how pitiful he looked.
With a sigh of resignation, she rolled him over slightly so that he was lying on his back, then proceeded to rub her hand over his stomach in slow, gentle circles. As she did so, Natsu exhaled as he stopped knitting his brow and unclenched his jaw, causing Lucy to smile as she kept rubbing his belly. As she continued massaging his midsection, she heard that deep purring sound that he made when he was content. She had to admit, it was really cute seeing him like that.
It actually amazed her how comfortable he had become around her. Back when they first met, he always seemed to call her "weirdo" and didn't seem to be want to be bothered with her. Nowadays, though, it was almost like he was glued to her, always by her side and her by his.
She supposed it was only natural. She would never forget that he was the one who invited her to Fairy Tail, after all.
Lucy suddenly started laughing softly to herself. All this reminiscing, just because she was giving Natsu a belly rub to calm his upset stomach. Speaking of Natsu, he was lying on the pillow, snoring softly as he finally fell asleep, causing Lucy to smile at him in an endearing manner... before she leaned over and kissed the Fire Dragon Slayer tenderly on his forehead.
"Uh... Lucy?"
Suddenly, Lucy tensed as she looked up to see Haru, who was holding a piece of freshly baked bread on a saucer as she stared at her in stunned silence.
"Am... I interrupting something?" asked the green-haired Beast Wizard with a smirk, causing Lucy to groan as she pinched the bridge of her nose, and meanwhile, Natsu just continued to snore.
XD Oh, good grief.
Happy NaLu Day!
