"SURPRISE!" everyone screamed
Spencer stared in part shock and part surprise the whole team was there and not just them Luca was there as well. He turn to Rossi who looked like the cat that got both the cream and the canary.
"Nice surprise kiddo?" he asked grinning widely
Spencer still mute could only nod, he had not seen this coming at all. He had been worried that his friends didn't want to be friends with him anymore and instead they had done to surprise him, tears started to well up in his eyes.
JJ was the first to react and rushed over to her young friend.
"What the matter Spence?" She asked worried
Spencer couldn't answer he just cried softly in both happiness and relief that his friends still was just that his friends.
"Hey kiddo," Rossi said worried was something wrong with his son? "Why the water work?"
"Happy," sobbed Spencer "Friends, happy, not abandoned."
It then hit Rossi, he remembered the dream that his son had had the night before about his friends not wanted to be friends with him anymore, he just nodded and rubbed the young man's shoulder to comfort him.
JJ just looked on not understanding what her friend was meaning.
It was Henry that manage to get Spencer's attention and stop the tears.
"Uncle Spencer!" the little boy cried and before anyone could stop the child, he had launched himself into his favourite uncle's lap hugging him tightly "I have missed you!"
Spencer looked down on his godson and smiled.
"Hello Henry," He said ruffling the blond brown hairy child "I have missed you too."
Henry frown a bit, something was wrong with his uncle Spencer, Henry looked up at his godfather's face and saw the now light but still clearly visible scars but that was not what was wrong, then he looked down and saw…
"UNCLE SPENCER!" the young boy exclaimed loudly "You only have one leg!"
This made all the adult laugh even Spencer had to laugh at his godson's discovery.
"What happened to your leg?" the young boy then asked and everyone stop laughing and didn't know what to say, JJ scooped up her son and was about to say a sorry to Spencer, but was stopped by her friend who just shook his head.
"Well Henry," Spencer said looked at the other how do you explain that you had been beaten so badly that the doctors had to cut off your leg to a young child?
Luckily he didn't have to as Will called from the barbecue that the food was ready and Henry totally forgot everything but that is was food and he was really hungry.
Spencer let the others sit down first, to be honest he was a bit shaken by Henry's question, and that he didn't know what to tell the young child.
"It does get easier," a voice said beside him making him jump a bit.
"What does?" he asked Luca
"What to tell them," she said "It get easier as they grow older and start to understand the world a bit better."
Spencer looked at her, she was slowly petting Remus, Luca turn and smiled at him.
"Come on slow poke am hungry," she said and rolled off leaving Spencer trying to keep up with her.
He was just about to come up beside her when they were with the others.
It didn't take too long before everyone was eating and talking.
"So Luca," Henry said after swallowing the bite of chicken he had eaten "Why do you have a dog and um why do you sit in a chair like Uncle Spencer, and why umm why do you have two leg if you in a chair?"
JJ and Will looked like they didn't know if they should scold their son or just laugh.
"Well Henry," Luca said and smile at the young boy "I have Remus because he helps me fetching things and do many pretty cool thing that I can't do, and I am in this chair because my leg don't work so I can't walk by myself anymore."
Jack watch Luca and Spencer while eating his fries.
"Uncle Spence?" he asked
"Yes Jack," Spencer said looking over at the young Hotchner
"How did you lose your leg?" the young boy asked "You never answered that."
Hotch looked just like JJ and Will had done before, he didn't know what to do.
"Well Jack," Spencer said slowly "I was really hurt and the doctors had to take my leg because it was so badly hurt."
Spencer hope that this would do for now, he looked at Luca who smiled at him.
Jack nodded and turn his attention to the ice cream bowls that Garcia and Rossi had place on the table behind them come Morgan with a tray of everything you could think of having with ice cream.
"ICE CREAM!" Henry screamed and tried to dive face first into the bowl with chocolate ice cream but was sadly stopped by his mother who gently told him to sit down and wait like the good boy he was.
Henry pouted.
"To be fair I think Henry had the right idea," Luka said in a near whisper in Spencer's ear.
Spencer tried to stifle a laugh at that and nodded.
"Well what are we waiting for dig in," Rossi said and started to scoop up coffee ice cream into his bowl, soon everyone was digging into the bowl of frozen treats.
Luca took a bowl and put a few spoonful of vanilla ice cream, blueberries, and strawberries and load other fruits before placing the bowl down on the ground next to Remus who with a happy sound started eating.
Jack saw this and thought he would also be nice to the doggy.
"Here doggy," He said and waved a piece of chocolate in front of Remus, but before the dog had time to eat it Luca had taken the chocolate piece and handed Jack a piece of watermelon instead which Remus took and eat happily.
"Sorry but chocolate is poison for dogs," she said softly not making a big deal of it "So if you want to give him something tasty try fruits and berries he loves that okay?"
Jack nodded he had not known that.
Everything seemed to be alright and everyone was happy until…
"I WANT MORE ICE CREAM!" Henry screamed banging his spoon on the table.
"Henry William quiet," JJ said sternly "Or you can forget Ice cream for the next year."
This however just made young Henry scream more and banging his spoon harder on the table unfortunately he managed to move his spoon banging hand in the wrong way and with a loud BANG Henry's spoon landed at the edge of his ice cream bowl which still had some Ice cream melted in it and send the bowl flying right on to Luca who was soon dripping with melted ice cream, whipped cream and sprinkles dripping from her hair.
Henry stop his tantrum and just stare at Uncle Spence's friend who is now wearing his ice cream bowl and its content, the young boy don't know what to do and neither does the others at the long table who all just stare at the young woman, who is looking like a melting ice cream cone.
Everyone was quiet for a minute before JJ rushed over to Luca saying sorry the whole time.
Luca who had been stun by the flying ice cream bowl started to laugh so hard that tears run down her cheeks.
"I was thinking of getting a bit more ice cream but this was not what I had in mind," She laughed and waved away JJ's hands "Mr Rossi could I be so rude and ask to use the bathroom?"
Rossi just nodded and took the bowl from Luca when she gave it to him.
"I will show you where it is," Spencer said.
The duo rolled into the house and Spencer showed Luca to the nearby bathroom.
"Do you need any help?" He asked and nearly winced at how weird that sounded.
Luca just laughed and said that no she could managed but thanks anyway.
She closed the door, but she open it again blushing a bit.
"Okay I may need some help," she admitted "Were is the towels."
Spencer Smiled and showed her where everything was and then waited outside the bathroom for her.
And soon did the door open and a Luca with still semi wet hair rolled out with a towel around her neck.
"Thanks," she said "So this is your house?"
"Yep," Spencer said "Or it is Dad's house, I just live here."
Luca nodded.
"I still live with my parents too," she said smiling "Maybe you can come visit me someday."
"I would like that," Spencer said happy that Luca hadn't thought he was weird for living with his dad still.
They rolled back out to the others.
"Luca I am so sorry for what happened," JJ said
"It is okay JJ," Luca said "Stuff like this happened with kids."
Henry walked up and looked at Luca with big eyes.
"I am sorry," He whispered and looked closed to tears no doubt from the scolding he had got from his parents.
"It is Okay Henry," Luca said "It is not the first time I got things thrown at me."
Later when all but Luca, Morgan and Emily had gone home, the last five was still sitting around the table, sipping coffee or in Luca's case tea and eating cookies.
"So what do you do?" Morgan asked Luca
She looked up from the cookie she was eating.
"I work at the Smithsonian," Luca said "It is really fun place."
"How is it to be in a chair and work there?" Emily asked
"It is okay," Luca said "It has gotten better and nearly everyone is nice."
"So what breed is Remus?" Morgan asked and scratched said dog behind his ears.
"Golden retriever," Luca said smiling "He is my best friend."
Remus choose that moment to move his head and lay it in Spencer's lap while looking up at the man with big puppy dog eyes.
"Amazing," Morgan said
Luca looked questioning at them and Spencer while petting Remus explain that Animals and young children don't often like him, Luca just nodded and said that Remus had always had a good feel for people.
