Welcome back everyone, hope you all are doing well. Staying safe and being smart out there.
This one-shot is just a idea I got so here we are. This is a one-shot based during that missing year, Emma and Henry moving into their apartment in New York city.
I do not own OUAT or it's characters. Just my imagination.
Chapter 219: Home is where you are
Emma and Henry walk out of the elevator, each with a box in their hands. After spending the last 2 weeks staying in a hotel as they looked for a apartment, they now had a place to call home. After their last home caught fire, the single mom decided to give her and her son a fresh start. And after a small trip, to New York they went.
Emma smiles as she and Henry walk towards the door of their place "Whatcha think kid, not bad huh?" she asks, Henry hadn't said much.
Henry shrugs, nodding his head "To soon to tell… but it definitely beats the hotel."
"I agree with that" Emma laughs. She had lived in some tight places in her life, but a New York city hotel room with a almost teenager was definitely a new kind of small. They reach the door, leading Emma to set her box down, and unlocks the door opening it. "You go first" she nudges Henry, the lifts the box back up.
Henry does as he is told, and walks in, taking the few steps down the small hallway. Finding the open area that was a kitchen and living room. "Wow… for sure better than the hotel mom."
Emma smirks, catching up to him putting a arm around him after again placing the box on the floor "I figured you'd think so…" she says, now moving to rub his back "this was actually one of the roomiest, they don't kid about how small places are here."
Henry chuckles, "Well I like it" he smiles "are the rooms nice too?"
Emma nods, "Come on, I'll show you the rooms, then we can go get more out of the bug" she raises a eyebrow.
"That sounds like a deal" Henry tells her, setting the box down. He then heads down the hallway, figuring that was the way to go.
"This one will be yours" Emma places her hands on his shoulders, leading him into the first room "not quite as big as your old room… but not bad right?"
Henry looks around, going to the window, and looking out "Look, there's a park" he smiles, pointing out at a park a block over from their building.
Emma steps over to look to "Oh yeah, the realtor said there was one close" she smiles, stroking at the hair at the back of his head, then kisses the back of his head.
"And mom?" Henry starts, moving to look at her, Emma humming to him "yeah, it isn't to bad, and not much smaller, not really" he says, giving her a smile.
Emma sighs in relief, pulling him into a hug, his arms wrapping around her back "thanks kid" she whispers, kissing his head.
After the bug is unpacked and most of their stuff is either unpacked or placed where it would eventually be put for good. The pair plopped down onto their couch, as they waited for pizza to be delivered.
Emma looks over at Henry as he played around on her phone for a few minutes.
Henry happens to look over at her, catching her looking "What?" he laughs.
Emma blushes, licking at her lip with a laugh "Nothing… I'm just so proud of you kid. I know these few weeks haven't been easy."
Henry shrugs "What else could I do?" he asks, passing her back her phone "I mean, yeah we lost a lot of our stuff, but we're okay."
Emma smiles proudly "That's very true Henry… but still. I'm proud of you for being so mature about it."
Henry nods "Thanks mom… I'm proud of you too. I know it was hard to see everything you worked hard for go in a flash."
"Yeah well… it was just stuff. We can always get more" Emma tells him, nudging him a bit.
Henry laughs "Plus… we wouldn't be living in such a cool city now."
"That's another great point… you're way to smart sometimes."
"I'll take that as a compliment."
"Good" Emma smiles, wrapping a arm around him, and kisses his head "cause it was one." She sits there for another few beats as she looked around again "Just remember though Henry… home is always going to be where we are together."
Henry thinks a minute at the words from his mom "I like that… as long as we're together, it's home" he nods, the moment only being ended by the knock on the door, meaning dinner was there.
Hope you all enjoyed that one. Keep being safe out there everyone. Until next time…
