Hello friends, I feel so bad for such breaks between stories, my brain has been in a real funk lately, making ideas slim. So, I promise requests are coming, just please bear with me here.

This request is mommabearEmmaSwan. She asked me to do a one-shot about the covid vaccine. So I hope this isn't boring or preachy, I just hope to make it relatable. This is set after season 6, before 7.

I do not own OUAT or it's characters. Just my imagination.

Chapter 220: every person has a choice

As Henry Mills was walking home from school this day, as he walked past town hall, he sees a bunch of commotion. His mom being mayor, this was a bit worry some for the teenager. As he gets closer, he spots a familiar red jacket. And smiles under is mask. Henry reaches Emma, placing a hand on her shoulder, as he speaks "Hey mom."

Emma jumps from the touch, from not expecting it. "Oh… hey kid" she smiles hugging him, and then pulls away, bringing down her mask some, it was warm in Storybrook that day. "What are you doing here?"

"That was kinda my question for you" Henry laughs, pulling away some "I was walking past, and seen the craziness" he points out. The dwarfs and others, bringing out tables and chairs from the building, loading them into a truck "What's going on?"

Emma places a hand on Henry's shoulder "Your mom finally secured us some covid-19 vaccines" she smiles "so now we need to get some things set up at the hospital when they get here in a few days. And… the staff learns to give us the shots safely."

Henry nods with a smile "That's great, right?"

Emma nods "Yeah, yeah it is" she smiles. Then gives a small shrug "The town has been lucky kid… the virus hasn't made it's way here. But me and your mom think it would be best for everyone to be safe if it did somehow get here."

"Do you think everyone will take it? The one's old enough anyway."

"That's hard to say" Emma says honestly. "A lot of the people here… they never had shots before. It would be a scary new thing."

"Are you getting one?" Henry asks, curious what she thought, it wasn't something they had really talked about.

"Being sheriff, I should… be a leader for everyone. Plus, with the job I'm around a lot of people during the day" Emma nods, biting her lip. "But I also know it's the right thing to do" she smiles, placing a arm around him "it's a scary shot, it's new and we don't know much about it yet. But I'm going to do it."

"Do what miss Swan?" Regina asks, as she approached the pair "Hey Henry" she smiles, seeing her son.

"I told Henry the big news, about the shots" Emma smiles, putting her hands into her pockets.

"Are you going to get one mom?" Henry asks Regina now, also curious.

"I'll be honest Henry, I'm a bit scared of the idea" Regina says honestly, then looks at Emma, and back to Henry "But from what I'm reading on this thing, it seems my odds are better with getting shot, then not. So, I'm going to have to brave it out, and just do it."

"That's really brave mom" Henry smiles proudly, moving in to hug.

Regina gladly hugs him back, after a few seconds she lets him go. "Plus, how would it look if the mayor doesn't get this thing. And we are asking them to take it."

Emma nods "I was saying that to Henry myself before too" she chuckles. She then looks to her son "What about you kid, you're going to be old enough soon to get the shot?"

Henry sighs, he personally was having a hard time deciding on this. "I- I don't know…"

"Henry…" Regina starts.

Emma at the same time "Henry…" which makes them all laugh "This… we talked this over" she starts, looking over at Regina, who nods "it's up to you if you get it Henry. You're old enough to decide if you get the shot or not."

"Would we like you to? Yes" Regina nods "we want you to be safe and healthy. But it's your body."

"So, it's up to you if you get it or not" Emma adds to Regina's statement.

Henry nods, taking it all in "I'll remember that. I still got a couple months before I can get it anyway. I got time to think it over."

"That's right kid" Emma smiles, coming over, kissing his head.

"In the meantime, you better get home and work on your homework" Regina raises a eyebrow at the kid "I'll be home after five, okay?"

"Got it" Henry laughs "I'll see later moms, let me know if you need help" he says, meaning with all the work.

"Adults got it kid. Get on home, I'll see you tomorrow" Emma tells him with a smile, tomorrow started her time with her son.

"See you then" Henry smiles, going to walk away now. Feeling good about the talk with his moms, and was proud of them both.
