Emma was busy in her room getting her and Henry ready for their date with Killian. She knew she had to make sure Killian knew how old she was. She couldn't very well keep this going if Killian didn't know. If he did know, she knew she had to run fast in the opposite direction. Mary Margaret came into Emma's room with a basket of laundry.
"Emma, you look nice. What's the occasion?" Mary Margaret asked placing the basket on the bed and picking up Henry.
"No occasion, just felt like looking like a functioning member of society today." Emma answered with a shrug. Her mother laughed and looked at herself.
"Maybe one day I'll be able to do that again too." Emma smiled and laughed with her mother. Emma noticed Henry's favorite blanket on top of the stack in the basket and quickly grabbed it and packed it. "Going somewhere?"
"Yeah, I was just going to take Henry out for the day. Maybe see if he's ready for the diner or a restaurant." Emma obviously couldn't tell her parents about the date. "A little mommy and Henry time." And Killian she added in her head. She was able to convince Killian to do an afternoon date since she had to bring Henry. She looked at her watch and saw she had to leave. "Alright Henry, ready to go?" She held her arms out for him. Henry willingly went to his mother and rubbed his face into her cheek. "For some reason, he thinks these kisses." Emma said with a laugh. "Okay, we'll be back." Emma picked her bag and left the loft. She walked to the short distance to restaurant. When she got there, she was a few minutes early so she gave Henry a small toy she packed. He was entertained with that. Henry was a good baby. He could mostly entertain himself. Especially that now, he can roll, he rolls to wherever he wants to go. It was few minutes until Henry started to squeal and bounce. Emma looked up and saw Killian making his way towards them. She stood up and unconsciously fixed her hair with her one hand. Killian made it to them and greeted Emma before taking Henry and was assaulted by Henry's "kisses".
"Hello Swan. Glad to see you could make it. Shall we?" Emma held up a hand before he could open the door for her. "Is something wrong?"
"I don't know. Killian, do you know how old I am?" Killian looked confused. "Humor me."
"Well, Henry's chart says you're eighteen. The fact that you're asking me…"
"I'm going to be sixteen in a few days." Killian stumbled a bit in shock. "I honestly thought you knew." Killian looked at her in shock.
"No. Emma, I would've never asked you out if I knew. That's so inappropriate in so many ways. Oh my gosh, Emma. I'm so sorry. I'm sorry I made you think I was some kind of…pervert or something." He handed Henry back to her. "I'll transfer your file and give Henry a different doctor. Again, I'm so sorry." He started to walk away and Emma closed her eyes gathering all her courage.
"Killian." She called out and turned towards him. He stopped but didn't turn around. "I mean, we're both here. We can still have lunch, as friends." Killian turned towards her. "I mean, if you want." Killian smiled a bit uneasily.
"I'd like that." They went into the restaurant and were seated. A highchair was brought over for Henry. Killian made a point to talk to Emma and Henry, who did not take to being left out of the loop.
"To be honest. I'm glad that you didn't know my real age." She looked up to see a confused look on Killian's face. "Well, that means that you weren't looking for a much younger girl." The look of realization on Killian's face was accompanied by a small head raise. They continued their lunch in a comfortable conversation. Every now, Killian would turn to Henry and ask him for his input. Henry would always answer in his baby talk and Killian would pretend to understand completely. Emma smiled slightly at the sight. She pulled herself back when she found herself wishing that she was eighteen and this could be a date. "Are you ready for Bae next week?" Killian looked at Emma again.
"Yes, his room is all set. Adam sent me a list of things Bae likes now. His flight gets in late on Thursday so I'm picking him up Friday afternoon and then I have him until the following Saturday. They're here for an undetermined amount of time so I'll get to see him more."
"It was really nice of Bae's father to let you stay in his life. He could've charged you as an accessory to kidnapping but instead he did the opposite and let you still see Bae and be alone with him."
"Adam's a cool guy. I honestly don't know why Miranda would say that he beat her. I can't see that man killing a fly." Killian shrugged. "I guess everything happens for a reason. If the divorce didn't happen, Milah would have never taken Bae over here, I would have never met them, and I wouldn't have Bae in my life right now." Emma had to agree.
"As much as I hate the fact that Neal was the reason, I was kidnapped for reasons that didn't make sense, if he hadn't done that, I wouldn't have Henry. I don't regret Henry at all, I just wish his father wasn't who he is. I hate that one day I'll have to tell him about his father. I want Henry to have a father figure to look up to, someone who he wants to be his role model. Someone like you." Emma's mouth and brain let slip. Emma was too shocked to say anything to take that back. Killian looked at her with a small smile.
"Well, I'm glad that you think I'm a good enough man for Henry to model. Shall we go for a walk?" Emma nodded and a weight was lifted off her shoulders that Killian didn't seem to be upset. They left after Killian paid and walked along the shoreline. Killian was holding Emma and at some point, he had taken Emma's hand and she didn't pull away. Emma remembered that she left the stroller at Granny's and they stopped there real fast to get it from the back. Henry fell asleep in the stroller and Emma took that as a cue to head home. Killian walked her home and make sure she got there safely.
"Well, this is me." She turned towards Killian. "I hope you and Bae have a great time together."
"Maybe, we can get together. The four of us. Go to the park or something." Emma smiled and unconsciously moved closer to Killian.
"I'd like that."
"Great, so I'll text you when Bae is settled and we can set up a time and day." Emma nodded.
"Sounds like a plan." She searched in her bag for her keys and once she found them, she turned back to Killian to bid him good-bye. "I'll talk to you then." Killian nodded and, taking a bold step, leaned down to kiss her cheek. As soon as his lips touched her cheek, Emma was gone. Killian then leaned down and pressed a soft kiss to Henry's head. Emma watched him with fascination in her eyes. He obviously cared about her and her child and the only thing separating and keeping them apart was a social acceptance that older men and younger women couldn't be together. Emma decided in that moment it wasn't enough. Killian liked her when he thought she was eighteen, those feelings don't just disappear. Emma was almost sixteen, she had a kid, she could make her own decisions. Killian stood up and walked back around the stroller. "Fuck it." Emma grabbed Killian's shirt and pulled him into a kiss. Killian was surprised at first but quickly wrapped his arms around her and kissed her back. He brought one hand to cup her cheek and she did the same with the hand that was currently fisting his shirt. His other hand found the small of her back and pulled her tight to him. She wrapped her arm around his middle and melted against him.
"Emma Ruth Swan!" Emma and Killian sprang apart as if they had been burned. Standing on the steps, luckily not with his gun, was a very pissed off David Nolan.
