Chapter 18: See Me
The next morning, I awake tucked close to Klaus my face had been buried in his neck, while my body had been just as tangled up as it had been last night. We were a mess, but somehow we worked. In his arms I felt comfortable, with him close I felt fever or goosebumps depending on what he was doing. Whatever this was, I had never felt it before, it was like magic whenever we were together.
Flashback
My breath hitches as we climb together, higher and higher. Our fingers are laced together. Joined as one, as our bodies join as well.
"Look at me, look at me love." Klaus all but demands. "Feel, what I feel." He says scooping down to place a sloppy kiss on my mouth.
When I do open my eyes, it makes everything feel that much better. Klaus seems to feel the same because he hitches his mouth up in a grin, when my nails dig into his skin.
"Can you feel that love?" He asked his hips swiveling deliciously against mine. "The power, between us, I can taste it." He slams into me, his mouth is licking my neck before he proceeds to leave yet another hickey on my skin.
I can feel his teeth scrape against the skin as his incisors are teasing. He knows better to bite me, yet he continues to play this game and despite all my talk, I find myself enjoying it too.
My hands reach for his face where I drag him to me as we share a scorching kiss. "It's magic." I echo.
"It's us." He says with a grin. "We're magic." He says stilling as his warmth seduces me to follow where he leads.
I wipe the sweat off his forehead and seal my mouth over his briefly before switching positions.
"I'll show you magic."

Spent I lye on the cool sheets my body exhausted yet buzzing at the same time. I couldn't understand the feeling he gave me, couldn't even decipher it, but I knew, I liked it a lot.
"You ok love?" He asks his warm arm thrown around my hips. He's got this satisfied look on his face, while his eyes are blinking softly.
I nuzzle closer to him. "Yeah." I admit realizing that it's true. Everything I had shared with him, that stuff had been weighing me down for so long, and now it was like it was gone. And replaced with it, was this feeling of lightness.
"Just so you know, you're now in high esteem, you're in my top eight of people."
I cork an eyebrow while looking up at him. "Why eight? People usually have a top ten, top five, but you have a top eight?"
His fingers dance along my spine. "I don't tolerate enough people for a top ten and a I enjoy more than five so it's top eight."
I close my eyes. "You're a strange man."
The bed shifts as a sheet is pulled up my body. I'm content, ready to drift off to sleep when Klaus speaks again.
"What's even stranger, is that I like you. "He says suddenly causing me to open my eyes. I turn on to my side, to see if he's being real of its some after effect but everything seems real, honest even.
"So whatever is going on in your head, or will go on in the morning, just know, I like you and I don't like anyone."
I can't help but smile. "I like you too. More than I should"
He rolls over on top of me. "How much."
I think for a minute. " A minuscule."
He chuckles and pulls my close to him. "I'll take it."
End of flashback
The mere memory has me blushing so hard, that I'm glad that the man besides me is knocked out. Peering down at him, I realize he's got an iron grip on me, almost as if he's anchoring me to him. Even now, his touch is effecting me. He's effecting me. He makes feel and do things that I normally wouldn't do, but with Klaus and those denim blue eyes, that accent and all that he has become it disarms me. Whenever I'm with him, I just let go of everything and I'm in the moment more than I've ever been in my life.
When I'm with him, I'm free.
And that alone, is kind of frightening. Whatever we have, it wasn't built to last but when I'm with him, I feel like it can last a little bit longer then expected.
Sensing where my thoughts were going, I try to think about something else. Anything else, but my mind kept going back to Klaus. With him here, I hadn't even dreamed of that awful woman who was trying to rattle me. Instead I slept peacefully and longer than my usual wake up at four in the morning newest ritual.
The last time I slept this good, It was the night Damon and I had made up. The festival had done wonders for our relationship and before you know it, we were back to normal. That night we spent our time playing video games and watching movies on the couch till I fell asleep my head on his shoulder. That night with Damon, it was just like old times. I even felt the familiar spark that had been flickering between the two of us.
Though the spark was strong between Damon and I, our connection was just as strong, something had changed and I knew it was the fact that I was very much drawn to Klaus.
I could readily admit I felt something for Damon, I always had even when I hated him. But what I felt when I was with Klaus rivaled it on so many levels. Being with Klaus was different. He made me feel like a woman, in the way he looked at me with barley concealed desire. In the way he touched me with deliberate hands. But most of all it was the way he held me.
I couldn't put into words the way being the arms of Niklaus Mikaelson felt like. It thrilled me, soothed me and terrified me all at the same time.
Adjusting myself just a little, I take the time to admire him. His curls were in slight disarray due to me raking my hands through them so many times. His long lashes was something that would always be envied. That perfect pout of his lips had me thinking back to some of his words, filthy words, when he was finding his grove while sweet words were uttered in amazement.
Had we been two other people this would probably be the very moment it all clicked. I'd realize he was the man I wanted and needed in my life. While he'd realize I was his everything. It sounded good. In fact I probably read the book and watched the moment of this exact scene. However, we were who we were and all we could was ride this out till it faded out.
I'm suddenly brought out of my musings by the sound of my phone playing a gospel tune reminds me I have church in a few hours.
Startled, I try to unlock myself from Klaus. Seriously he was a vampire, he should've been awake eons ago, not to mention he didn't need any sleep. "Klaus," I nudge. "Klaus!" I say again.
I expect him to open his eyes, but instead he only holds me closer to him. "Five more minutes, and then I'll let you have your way with me." He mumbles sleepily.
I roll my eyes and slap his chest. "Klaus!"
Denim blue eyes open a hint of gold showing. "Ooh, you're demanding in the morning!" He grins. "Well, if you want it go for it, it's all yours." He says no hint of sleep in his voice. No instead his voice is laced with something else. He boldly pulls the sheet down, his eyes delight with mischief. "Any way you want it, I'll give it to you."
A stutter nearly leaves my mouth. "We don't have time for this." I say struggling to keep my eyes on his face. When he sits up he whispers something in my ear in a another language and damn it, I almost melt. "We don't have time for any of this." I say again, my voice coming out shaky.
His warm hand touches my lower back all but causing to me to curl into him. "What time?"
Lost in the feeling of his warmth I nearly purr. "What? Um I have to meet Lucy at 10:00."
He smirks and I want to kiss that smirk right off his lips.
"Hope wakes up around 9:30."
I look over to the dresser where my phone is flashing a text has appeared and so has the time. Klaus only grins as his arms snake around my waist. "It's 7:50 now, we both have things to do today." I remind.
Klaus only lays succulent kisses on my neck, his mouth traveling lower and lower with each kiss.
"But, love I really want to do you." He says smiling against my skin. "Don't you want to do me?" he asked nipping on my skin. "Love?"
"No." I lie.
"No?" He asks surprised his hands and mouth seizing any movement.
I bite my lip as I turn to look at him. His hands are planted on my hips, rubbing circles. I couldn't lie and he knew it. He's grinning when my mouth collides with his. That grin is replaced with a hiss, when we collide all over again.
The words yes echoing between us.

Lucy
It was Sunday morning and the only thing she could think about was cooking a good hardy breakfast. The night before had been spent agonizing over what Bitter Betty had said. The other part had been spent communing with Elijah, who had been the sweetest. He also managed to show her the real Elijah behind the suit.
Lucy Flashback
Rain continues to fall harder with every second which in not new here in NOLA. What was new was that Elijah had been very adamant about meeting a witch who had transformed our sunny day, to a rain storm. He had even gone so far as to describe the woman, and right now I was pretty sure the bitter betty, was that woman. With crimson painted lips, a chip on her shoulder and a nasty warning for all. This witch meant business.
Soon as I thought it, the power went out, and with it took the lights. Here we go.
The sound of the door opening causes me to look up startled. If this chick wanted to play, I was ready now. She'd never catch me slipping agin
With my fingers outstretch and magic in the air, I'm ready for the next moment when a familiar voice hits my ears.
"Lucy, Lucy are you here?" Elijah calls.
"I'm here." I say walking out to the front of the shop, when suddenly the lights are back on, as if nothing happen.
Elijah rushes to my side looking worried. "Are you okay, did anything happen to you." He asks as brown eyes inspect me for the littlest of scrapes.
The words I'm fine leave my lips though I'm far from fine. In fact I'm livid. How dare anyone come into my shop and then try to put limits on my life. No not ever, would I ever let anyone decide anything for me.
"I got your bacon cheeseburger with extra bacon and fries." Elijah says a hint of a smile.
Though my appetite is lost, it's the mere fact that he went out to get my food that has me dragging him to the back.
"We can split it." I suggest, to which Elijah frowns. "Oh come on, I've seen you eat human food– you just haven't been introduced to this type of delicacy."
A dark look overtakes his face. "Fine, I'll partake in you're bacon cheeseburger experiment,"
"Excellent." I say slicing the burger in half.
"But," Elijah calls causing me to look in his direction. "You tell me who was here, and why you're so upset.
Bracing her hands on the table she pushes the awaiting plate in his direction before speaking.
"I had a run in with a witch. I believe she's the one you ran into at the park." Pause. "She's super pissed off, wears red lipstick and she's unbelievably strong."
He picks up his half of the burger and takes a bite, chews the appropriate amount of times before swallowing. "I foresee she is going to be a problem." He says wiping his hands.
She picks at her fries. "That's putting it lightly."
He looks over into the distant, eyes trained on the nearby window. "A witch with a grudge is never good, but one with an ax to grind against my family, I will not stand for it."
For the first time she had witnessed the Elijah Mikaelson that would do anything for his family. Everyone had always talked about how ruthless Klaus was, and it was true, she had seen it first hand one night out. A pack of wolves thought they could outnumber him and Klaus had single handedly eradicated said wolves so that their whole pack was a thing of the past. Now, though seeing the steel glint in the eyes of Elijah, told her, he was much more then a good man in a suit, no he was an original vampire that was now on the prowl.
End of flashback
"That is quite the spread you've prepared." Elijah announces as he walks into the kitchen.
He had slept on the sofa, or at least pretended to sleep on the sofa the night before, claiming that it would be better that way. Knowing when to fold I hadn't pushed and when morning came, I knew it was time to let the night before go and push forward.
With a shrug she smiles. "Well it's Sunday morning, which means a big breakfast always get cooked." Wiping her hands on her apron she dust butter over the homemade biscuits. Elijah had gone in the spare bedroom and had been on the phone since she had stepped out in a tiny robe.
Elijah leans against the wall. "Is that all for me."
Grin. "You wish. Danny likes to come over for Sunday morning breakfast and for a skinny dude, he can eat." Pause. "You're welcome to stay, though- have breakfast with us." She asks sounding way too hopeful for her own ears.
His phone pings signaling a text and when he looks back up at her, she knows the answer.
"You gotta go?" She says nodding.
"It's Rebekah, she back from vacation with Marcel." Pause. "I have much to catch her up on."
She smiles brightly his way. "Okay, then let me walk you out."
KM-KM
Klaus
As per custom he is the first to recover. His status as a vampire and wolf aiding him in his recovery time. She is, though a very close second. Any other woman would be laid out snoring while he debated if he was going to eat them, or just barking orders for said woman to leave as quickly as they could. Bonnie though, is much different.
She slinks about like a cat stretching her limbs as far as possible, before rolling out of bed. To the naked eye, she had recovered just as fast as he, however, with his trained eye he caught sight of her trembling legs as she stood. He listened to how her heart stuttered while she made her way to her drawers for undergarments. He could also tell by the way that she had walked, that he had done her proper.
"I'm off to shower," She says throwing her words over her naked shoulders. "You continue to lye about, but just remember we both can't be late so," She trails off.
He catches eyes with her then, still flat on his back, sheet barely keeping him decent. What for, she'd seen, kissed and tasted what he had to offer. He could still remember the way her bright green eyes peered up at him while he fell apart. She hadn't stopped till she got the last drop.
"Don't worry I'll be out of your bed soon enough. After all, I am a man of my word." He says watching as she walks to her en-suite. "Oh and Bonnie?" he calls causing her to turn around to face him.
A slow smile finds its way to his lips. "The view from here is quite spectacular." Wink.
She blushes all over her skin smelling of the two of them. She bites her lip as if to stop herself from saying anything else, maybe even engaging further before closing the door leaving him to his own devices.
Settling back in bed he fixes the pillows so that he's comfortable. His lips curve into a smile as he realizes that Bonnie Bennett was something else. They clicked, they got each other and he enjoyed her company. Though he hadn't been lacking lovers, Bonnie was the first one in a real long time that he felt connected to aside from when he was inside of her. They understood each other, which was wild considering how they met and even wilder considering how they started.
Still, he couldn't say one bad thing about what he and Bonnie had going. This situation was ideal for the two of them and worked out better then he even expected.
What was unexpected was how easy it was between them. In the past that had always been his problem. He only had a handful of women in his lifetime that made everything easier. In fact if he was thinking properly he'd admit that it had only been two, and Bonnie had been one of the two.
Klaus Flashback
After shifting into a wolf he stayed outside looking at the moon. Never had he had such and intense calling to come out in wolf form had he then when he shifted. All he knew was that he needed to protect what was his, and Bonnie, the woman who had let him inside her bed, who had shared her pain with him, who was now wrapped up in sheets that smelt like the two of them- was his protect.
Once she had found him, the need to protect was still strong, but the need to be close to her, was even stronger. Shifting back into his human form they found themselves back in bed with her even cuddled close to him. His arm come out to wrap around her holding her just as close.
"Do you wanna tell me why I found you in wolf form, in my backyard?" She asks her voice sounding much like sleep.
He lets the sound of rain linger between them, his ears twitching to hear other things as well. "I had a dream." He says suddenly. "It felt real, I thought Mikael was back, that he was outside waiting for the moment he could catch me off guard." He admits, his voice sounding foreign to his own ears.
He never spoke about Mikael, about the man who blamed him for everything. The same man that hated him more than anyone else, and the very person he called father.
She quite too quiet and he thinks shit, he's said too much, revealed all his scars and that is what a woman doesn't want to see. The only two people he knew could get away with being perpetually whiny was Damon, and probably Stefan. Though he could easily say that people found the brooding nature of Stefan alluring. As for the other Salvatore– he had no idea what that bloke had going for him. He guessed it was the eyes.
She sits up her head looking him into the eyes. "It's okay to be scared." Pause. "You had to run from him till you defeated him." She says thoughtfully. "But you did defeat him, and everyday you live your life, and spend time with your daughter you defeat him all over again."
Overwhelmed with emotion he brings his lips down to her hand. Who knew, Bonnie Bennett would be the one to slay his demons.
End of flashback
Laying in bed he can hear her singing loud and clear. She's a firecracker or something even brighter. But most of all she's something special, something he hadn't had in a very long time.
All he knows is Niklaus Mikaelson and Bonnie Bennett, sounds good to him.
DS-DS-DS
Damon
Waking up in a hotel was nothing new. He and Bonnie had traveled the world together staying in a different places all the time. That was nothing new. But being without her, that was something that hadn't occurred in a long time. Bonnie had become his right and left hand, and this– being without her, if only for a couple of days was something that terrified him. It was something he never wanted to get use to. Typically it was he and Bonnie against the world, that was what they had become, this team that worked fundamentally well. It didn't matter whom she was seeing because in the end he always knew he'd be the constant.
That was...until Klaus.
Although he liked to talk a big game and he did enjoy letting Klaus know that just because he got Bonnie into bed things between them would never be that deep. He had told himself that Klaus was just a wild stage Bonnie was going through, that-the time they spent naked was just a release she needed desperately after putting up with Enzo for so long. But a nagging feeling in the back of his head, and the funny feeling in his stomach was starting to give him pause.
Just as he was about to linger on those unsettling feelings, he remembered one thing, one very important thing. He and Bonnie were tied together, and no amount of Klaus and his sexual prowess could change that.
He and Bonnie were secure, they were solid, they were Bonnie and Damon, two people who had gone through hell and back, and somehow found each other. Nobody could come between them, not even his girlfriend back home. Because if he were being honest, somewhere between being friends with Bonnie, she became the one, the one that he needed the most. Fortunately for him, she needed him just as well.
Damon Flashback
Monte Carlo had been his suggestion. He loved everything about it; the water, the women and the flashiness that wasn't frowned upon.
The hotel room he paid for had come at a hefty price tag, but it was well worth it. Especially since he had a private pool. Not to mention his best friend was currently rocking a crimson red bikini that was made for her and only her. Gorgeous that was what she was, a bronzed beauty with heart shaped lips and a filthy mouth. She was his kind of girl, essentially she was his girl just without the drama.
Walking down the steps he can hear her chatting with Caroline as the blond oohs and ahhs over the surroundings. The blonde should've known that if he were taking Bonnie on a vacation that- it would be in the most elite places of the world. Why not let his good taste rub off on his best friend? He has a smile forming on his lips when suddenly Caroline dares to tell B, that while she's on vacation she needs to find a hot guy and do him good. The mere notion has him squeezing the stem of the glass he's holding tight.
"Caroline seriously, I can't do that." Bonnie chastises. "Besides this is his pick."
He feels his dead heart fill with something at her words.
"Girl please!" Caroline rattles off. "You should've ditched him while he was taking his three hour bubble bath."
Having heard enough he walks out the french doors and brazenly walks down to the pool area.
"That is why, you Caroline, will never be invited to the places the cool people party at." He grins, while behind Bonnie. His smile brightens as Caroline now gets the full view of mini or not so mini Salvatore while he stands proudly in his black tiny swim trunks.
Sure enough Caroline shrieks, followed by promptly hanging up with Bonnie. As for the girl in question, Bonnie turns around, gets an eye full and then swivels back around an eye roll seconds away.
"Where are the rest of your clothes?" She asks picking up a magazine.
He scoffs at her finding his place next to her on the oversized lounger. "Wherever yours are." He says looking her up and down.
She snorts while he hands her a glass grinning. "So tonight, I plan to take you to the casino."
A look of pure excitement runs across her face and he just wants to capture it, capture them in this moment. "You know, I've perfected my poker game D!"
He chuckles sitting back. "You won against that crazy biker group and now you're a professional."
She elbows him and he can't help but smirk. It's only when she looks at him, the sun shining just the right way against her skin, face and eyes– her everything. It's then and only then does he realize that he's in deep shit. Bonnie B might just end up being the death of him.
"I saved your pasty ass didn't I?" Bonnie says looking him up and down before going back to her mimosa.
He shrugs. "How could you not, I am, hot as fuck."
She finishes her drink and then speaks again, enchanting eyes meeting his. "Debatable."
"Non-negotiable." He says grabbing a hold of her and holding her in his arms. He plants kisses on her face causing her giggle all the while he can't think of a better person to be with in this moment.
End of flashback
That memory and many others is what keeps him from having a mini meltdown leaving her with Klaus. He knows the hybrid, has a crush on her and that meant he would keep her safe. But it didn't mean he had to like it. He just needed to remember that everything he was doing was for Bonnie because the bond that they had it was like no other bond he felt with any other woman. And true to his heart as always he'd fight till the end for her.
Damon Flashback
Later that night the plan had been to go down to the casino dressed in their best clothes. She had dressed in form fitting dress. Her hair while piled high above her head red lipstick and glistening skin. He was positive she'd put on a spell on anyone he got a mere glimpse of her because she was radiant.
He was also looking quite handsome. Dressed in dark grey trousers that showed his ankles, a midnight blue shirt with the first three buttons undone and a fedora– he was the gift that kept on giving to both women and men. Eye candy, that was what he was serving to anyone who looked his way.
"Look at you trying to steal my spotlight." He says letting his eyes run over her. She had changed so much from the girl he met all those years ago. Here she was a woman that had power at her fingertips, a beauty that outshone everyone she encountered. What was best about Bon, was though she was physically beautiful everything else about her was just as beautiful. The way she trusted people, the way she loved the smile she did whenever she was happy, it was all beautiful.
She beams his way and that feeling in his stomach comes back again, the one he was trying to get use to. "It's not me, it's the dress." She says shrugging cinnamon shoulders. She then gets up and does a spin so he can get the full view.
He waste no time mesmerizing everything about her, about this night. He always knew he best friend was a gorgeous but tonight its different. He feels different.
Walking closer to her, so that he's close, he speaks. "That dress you're wearing," He says licking his lips as he tilts his head. "Is talking dirty to me."
A bubble of laughter escapes her mouth and he finds himself grinning as well.
"Right, because you're so irresistible that my dress can hardly take it."
He stops grinning now and eradicates the space between them. His feet are touching the end of her stilettoes. "I don't know," He says huskily. "Maybe you're dress needs hands on experience with me."
Quickly he reaches for her dragging her body to his. For a brief moment a small gasp escapes her mouth as her eyes go wide. She unsure of what he'll do next and he feels the same. She recovers seconds later and gives him her familiar look and he's smiling all over again.
"If you grab my ass, I'm gonna kick yours." She says though her eyes are dancing.
He peers down on her, this time his eyes on her lips. "Bon, I love when you join in on the dirty talk.
Seconds later she's got her clutch in hand ready to depart.
It's time like this when the banter is too much that he compares what he and Elena share to all that he has with Bonnie. He should be content with everything he had...has with Elena but sometimes he feels like something is missing. He got the girl, the one he had been pining after since Katherine. He nearly wrecked his relationship with Stefan for said girl (Elena) and though things with Stefan were strained he had feeling that it would work itself in the end.
As for Elena, she was everything he had wanted..all he wanted but sometimes the ease he had with Bonnie was what he wanted to. Whenever he was with Bonnie, Elena was so far off his radar that he often made him wonder how epic was the love story of he and Elena if one look from Bonnie could make him feel so many things.
"Come on," Bonnie breakthrough causing him to meet her eyes. "If you're lucky I'll let you be my arm candy."
"Promise." He asks wiggling his eyebrows.
"Promise." She says taking his hand.
The mere notion has him ignoring the buzzing of his phone.
End of flashback
He takes another look at the photo the two of them took that night. Her a vision in red, and he the debonair as a motherphucker. He could give Elijah a run for his money because he and Bonnie looked smooth that night.
Chuckling to himself, he's reminded that she won that night and he dubbed himself her good luck charm. The picture was taken after she had declared it to be true.
Damon Flashback
"You know what, since you've been winning so much with me at your side," He says turning to look at her. "I think I've earned the title of good luck charm."
She takes her glass and sips her champagne, leaving her lip print behind. "And my winning has nothing to do with my skill level?"
He smirks, all the while taking her glass out of her hand and finishing off her drink. "You've got skill Bennett." He says crowding her. Before he gets a chance to say anything, she's reaching up to wipe lipstick off his lips.
Immediately they pause, her eyes wide. "You had lipstick on your mouth."
He only leans closer. "I'd love to..." He pauses debating his next words for a beat. "I'd love to know all about your skills." He admit knowing that once he said it, he couldn't take it back.
For a moment she looks surprised, startled even, but then that melts to her own grin. Patting his cheek she shakes her head. "In your dreams."
If she only knew. "Fine lets just chalk this win up to me being your good look charm." He says going back to the pervious topic.
She tilts her head like a bird. "Fine." She says her green eyes dancing. "I use to think you were curse to everyone you encountered and now you're my good luck charm." She mumbles. "I don't know if I'm crazy or,"
"Or if its just the Damon effect?" He says putting his arm around her. "For what it's worth, you definitely have a Bonnie kind of effect on me." He says seriously. "You are one of the few good things in a sea of bad."
Once they get to the elevator, he keeps her close. Whipping out his phone he captures the moment.
End of flashback
He realizes the journey with Bonnie was worth it.
"Must be a hella of a something special to have you gazing that long?"
He knows that voice, grits his teeth and spots Lorenzo looking over his shoulder. He's not blind to see the molten fire behind brown eyes at the sight of he and Bonnie so close. Putting his phone away he turns to him. "Enzo."
The dark vampire glares for mere moments before finally speaking. "In the flesh." The vampire smiles. "Now should I rip your heart out now or later, or has Bonnie already done it for me?"
He sucks his teeth. This is going to be a long day.
A.N. 2: Enzo is in the picture find out more about him next chapter.
