Appearance contrary to popular belief the appearance of the individual does indeed affect persons standing in the world, however, please remember that in the various positions one finds themselves in this standing varies.

For example amongst huntsmen and soldiers scars are seen as a badge of honor, if they are earned in battle, not if they were gained during training.

This is something acknowledged by all people regardless of their social standing.

It is the main reason why explorers who have gone through various things are seen with approval and respected even amongst the nobility.

yet a person that has scared themselves due to their stupidity forever marks themselves with shame.

As such a person that has a scar that wasn't earned in the right manner can lose certain things such as arranged marriages, or even be told by stores and people of high positions to leave a building.

As such those that have gained such marks on their bodies will often join the lower classes and become huntsmen or soldiers just so they can have scars or military positions that will usually make people think that that mark on their body is just another scar earned in battle.

However, these shameful injuries shouldn't be considered like amputations or burns that a person finds themselves with.

For example, a woman with a burned face might be seen as disheartening, but just to be able to survive such a thing proves her inner strength, the strength needed to have strong children, and as such most if not all would look beyond her disfigure appearance and look at the woman's personality and soul.

The same goes for amputation.

Yet these opposites show the importance of beauty and strength that our kingdoms have grown to rely on.

Physical appearance is needed and desired by the people of our kingdoms, but so is the strength of character and our souls.

A woman's thin figure and pleasing appearance are worthless if she lacks the strength of soul and mind.

Similar is the well-trained form that men are expected to have, but if he lacks the ability to keep a cool mind in times of stress he is no good, and his soul is laking.

Yet one end displays the other and it is in the outskirts of this that the shame of carrying scars from training come in, unlike the scars children get from playing, which are natural for they are barely learning and nothing to be ashamed of.

These display a person's lack of self and a weak soul, meaning that her or his beauty and rightfully so his or her physical appearance is laking.

it is no wonder why the Fanus continue to be seen by many as freaks of nature, as they do not earn their new forms from the need to survive, but from their inability to decide if they wanted to be Humans or animals.

Such weak souls, meaning that despite their pleasing appearances or powerful bodies means that they are so severely lacking that one.

Forgive me simply look at Fanus society to understand that what I write here is even held amongst them, in their society.

For example in the rare occasion that a child is born with the characteristics of more than one specific animal trait, it is as shunned by the rest as the fanus, as we humans shun the fanus.

Let return to the previous statement, before this becomes a report on Fanus society.

You may ask yourself how is this possible how can a well-toned muscular body or a thin figure be seen as disgusting if they have a scar from practicing combat.

Think of it in this way.

You have every means to prepare, to plan, to put yourself in the right state of mind, you have chosen the opponent and set everything to benefit you and you only go up against stronger opponents when you are ready.

That scar is proof of your lack of strength of mind - you laking strength - the fact that someone stronger weaker than you can hurt you when by all rights, they shouldn't have.

Appearance is very important, but this varies depending on the social level one is at
