In this world they were currently in humans are nothing more than expendable material, and any one of the monsters running around can kill a dozen people alone, and that's just the weakest of the monsters.

On the bright side, both he and Mark had regained their teenage bodies and kept all of their experience and knowledge, but on the downside, they had no identification and no way of getting proper jobs, so they had no choice but to do odd jobs wherever they could find them.

It was on one of these jobs that they saw a creature killing a group of homeless men, there were no shining angels - no devils- magicians or even exorcists, that came to help and save the homeless men, no the men died and no one cared.

So the two of them decided that if they were going to be in this world then they wouldn't be easy targets, so, between the two of them, they recreated everything they could remember.

Luckily for them, they had their laptops with them, along with a couple of memory sticks which had a lot of the comic books and mangas they read online.

So between the two of them, they managed to create their own version of the Holy Grail War, they wanted to use the thing to go home, except there was one problem they had no way of getting enough energy to make the grail work.

So they had no choice but to copy two devices that they knew could make an unlimited supply of power without either of them having to do anything.

There was just one problem with them creating the devices they were too complicated, so Mark decided to create four turbines that sucked in energy and fed it to a gyroscope, that would store all of the energy.

The second device was even easier to make, they just bought a lamp and put a bell underneath it.

The turbine was a copy of the device used to gather the exes power of the world, if Ma had to explain it, he would say that every time an explosion goes off, or someone or something moves, they let out more energy than whats needed.

The turbines suck in that exes energy and the gyroscope keeps it stored until he and max need to use it.

If Mark had to explain it, he would point out that the machine even sucked in the power of the big bang, considering that a lot of that energy is still lingering in the world.

So the machine was gathering energy from the moment everything was created - during the time gods mess around with human life - through the war between the heavens - the fallen and the devils, all the way until no.

"The truth was that both Mark and Max knew that the device was more than enough to make the grail work, but when things like these are made something always goes wrong, so to trick anyone that showed up, they copied the midnight lost child.

Neither Mark nor Max knows how the bell and the lamp became an exact copy of the first device they built, but considering they were playing with forces they didn't understand, they decided to ignore it and carry one as nothing had happened.

Their plan was simple, gather enough energy to power the grail and wish to go home.

It worked except something either sensed the exe's power from the grail or it was just their bad luck, but whatever it had been was bad because the creatures didn't just ignore the machines, they all headed towards the grail.

So both Mark and Max in a moment of weakness wished for power and the grail granted their wish.

Mark was granted complete control over Gilgameshes treasures, which for some reason included everything both Max and Mark had ever seen before because they had everything from Captain America's shield, to spaceships in there.

max for his part was given some kind of power that allowed him to create one reality marble after another.

Yet if anyone ever asked Mark and Max how their power are different they would both say that Mark was given the physical side of their powers, while Max gained the magical side of them.

They would say that because of anything Max could do, Mark had an answer for it, and everything Mark could do, Max had an answer for it.

It just so happened that their answers were the same but different.

Where Max could summon a character to fight for him, with all of its abilities and power, Mark had the weapons of said character, which granted him the power- skill, and experience of that character.

Needless to say, they managed to kill the creatures, but the two of them could sens more creatures coming, and so they were forced to abandon their plans to go home.

With Mark having gained Gilgameshes treasures money wasn't a problem anymore so they pawned some of the gold and managed to buy an old church that was outside of the city along with the land around it

The two of them had been fixing the place ever since then to pass the time.

To say that they had gotten lucky when they bought the church was an understatement because when they were busy repairing the floors, Mark found a hidden room underneath the altar.

The room wasn't used for rituals as they feard, instead, it looked like a giant warehouse where they found a bunch of old cans of food- paint and things people used for everyday life, but none of it was any good.

It was here where Max began unleashed one reality marble after another, and he soon found the one that he wanted.

An empty world where it was always midnight and he placed the midnight lost child in it, the moment the device in that world, was the moment it began to unleash its power.

Max made it so that the midnight lost child's energy fed the reality marbles he had unleashed so he didn't have to strain himself with maintaining them.

As for Mark he surrounded the church with two different kinds of spells, one would keep the exes power from the grail and the devices from being sensed by anyone and the other would keep anyone that wasn't allowed into the reality marbles from being able to see them and much less enter them.

So if anyone ever went underneath the altar, they would just see a giant warehouse or pantry.

From time to time the two of them would go out and find random monsters, it was nothing serious, they just didn't want to repeat what had happened before.

So to say that they were surprised to find that the monsters were people that were turned into devils because they had escaped their cruel masters and were cursed to change into monsters as punishment is an understatement.

So ever since then, the two of them would go out kill those that were too far gone, and bring back those that could be saved.

To keep the devils from turning into monsters Mark used Rule Breaker to remove their Evil Pieces and so the people they saved went back to being Human, but they kept all of their powers and abilities that they had gained from the time that they were devils.

They also retained their stamina along with whatever increase in magical or demonic power, which wasn't something anyone would ignore, so they now lived inside the castle with Max and Mark.

Regardless of any of this, all of those people went back to their normal lives and only lived inside the castle when they wanted to get away from it all, or they felt someone they knew had found them and hid themselves before their old master or bounty hunters could find them.

"Let's go get some not-so-fresh air," Mark said to Max as he walked out of the castle and into the incomplete church.

They both sat on an old bench they had carried out of the church because they were repairing the floors of the building and so all of the benches would just get in the way.

'It's almost time" Mark said to Max.

"Yeah" Max answered Mark as they both looked at the stars.

"So what d you think it's going to be this time?" Mark as Max as he created a gold portal and took out two beers from it and handed one to Max.

"Don't know don't care," Max answered Mark before taking a drink from his beer.

"So how's it going on your end?' Mark asked Max who gave him a cocky smile

Mark gave a small chuckle, as he took Max's smile as if he was saying that everything was going perfectly fine.

"Yeah, things are good on my side too. With this much power, we should have enough to get us out of here" Mark said to Max

"...Hey ... have you ever wondered what would happen if we can't go back home?" Max asked Mark before the two fell into along silence.

'Yeah, but I try not to think about it because I don't want to be in this world."

"I mean I know there are worst places I could be in, but there's just something about this place that feels wrong, you know what I mean?" Mark said to Max

"Yeah, this world feels wrong, but if we're stuck here after this, we won't be anyone pawns," Max said to Mark.

This would be their second and last time they would try to get home, the last time they had tried it outside of the reality marbles, this time they would do it inside them, so if something went wrong they would know that it was the universe itself that was keeping them inside it.

The two of them spent the rest of the night, looking at the stars and drinking beer while enjoying the solitude.
