"Eda! I'm home!" Luz said.
"I'm in the kitchen!" Eda said.
Luz walked to the kitchen and saw Eda going through the mail.
"Hey, Kid, there's a letter for you."
Luz reached out and took the letter. She opened it and read through it.
"Dear, Miss Human'... I'm really getting tired of being called that." Luz said, "I wish to ask for help. My daughter, Amity, has been hurt and is unable to help with a presentation tonight. I will forever be in your debt. Odalia Blight."
"Ugh, that whore?" Eda asked.
"Well, it could be fun." Luz said, "And if Amity is hurt, I can't force her to do it while injured."
"I don't know Kid, what if they try something?"
"What are they going to do, kill me?" Luz asked.
"Good point. Have fun, left overs will be in the fridge when you get home." Eda said.
Luz walked to the door and grabbed the handle.
"I'll be back before midnight!"
"I doubt it!"
Luz walked outside and looked at the letter. It had the address and Luz walked there, holding up a hand and igniting it, lighting the way. She walked until she saw a sign that said "Blight Industries".
"Okay, let's get this over with."
Luz entered and saw who could only be Amity's mom. Odalia looked and saw Luz.
"Ah, I see you got my letter."
"Yes, is Amity alright?"
"Oh, she's fine, just hurt her leg again. Nothing nearly as bad as last time." Odalia said, "Problem is, she was going to help me with a demonstration for tonight."
"Well, luckily for you, I am free. I'll help you with your little demonstration tonight."
"Wonderful. You stay here and I'll go tell my husband." Odalia said.
Odalia walked off with a large, evil, smile on her face. In Blight Manor, Amity laid in bed, mumbling something about her mom being unfair. She got up and walked to her mom's office. She finally had the nerve to stand up to her mom. She opened the door and stormed in.
"Mom, I nee-" No one was there, "What the? Where is she? She didn't tell me that she was leaving already."
Amity saw a note on the desk and read it.
"You should've listened to me."
On the other side, was a picture of Luz and she started to panic. She ran out of the manor and to her parent's business. Luz stood on stage, waiting for whatever it was that they wanted to show.
"So, Alador was it? What exactly does the company sell?"
"We specialize in Abomination themed home defense systems."
"Oh, that doesn't seem that bad."
"But we mainly make weapons."
Luz was hit with abomination goo and stuck to the wall. Odalia talked about the weapon, but Luz was more focused on using her fire to melt the goo. She fell down just as Odalia switched the setting on the weapon. Luz watched as she shot a big stream of green fire.
"This woman really likes green."
Odalia pointed the weapon at Luz and smiled evilly.
"I'm beginning to think... you made all this stuff about Amity up."
"You got that right." Odalia said, "But if you back out now, I'll make sure your friends are expelled from Hexside."
Luz stood up and looked at her.
"Fine." Luz said, "Give me your worst."
"I plan on it."
Odalia pulled the trigger and Luz jumped out of the way. Amity had to take a break. She's been running for twenty minutes.
"That... dumbass." Amity said between breaths.
She started sprinting again and didn't stop until she made it to the factory. In total, she's been running for about an hour. Inside the building, Luz was breathing heavily. She has gone through just about every item they had. Odalia growled like a wolf. She was beyond furious that Luz was still breathing.
"Well, you've gone through every invention we have... except one."
Odalia pressed a button and a platform rose from the floor.
"As they say, save the best for last. The Abomitron (I actually forgot what they called it) will finish this... and you. Abomitron, kill."
The giant, armored, Abomination hit Luz and it sent her into the wall. Luz saw a large cut on her hand. It healed and Luz looked over it.
"I can heal without dying? That's nice to know."
Luz barely managed to avoid the massive spiked ball the Abominations hand became. She used a plant glyph and climbed up to the rafters. She didn't want to use her powers in front of so many people, she knew word would get out and it would only be a matter of time before everyone knew about her.
"Okay, I think I'm safe."
Right as she said that, the Abomination landed behind her.
"Me and my big mouth."
Luz started running and hit pipes with a few ice glyphs, making steam cover the area. The steam did nothing to the Abomination and it slammed its hand onto the ground, breaking the rafters they were standing on. They feel to the ground and Luz groaned. Not because of the pain, that's already passed. She was groaning because the Phoenix is trying to come out. Odalia looked on in joy, Alador held a stoic expression.
"Mom, dad, stop!"
They looked and saw Amity run up to them.
"Not now, Mittens, we need to get rid of the distraction." Odalia said.
"No! I'm tired of you deciding what is best for me! I'm going to stop this!"
Amity began to make a spell circle but was stopped when a collar was put around her neck. She knew what this was, it was one of the few non-Abomination weapons they make. It cuts off magic for the wearer.
"I don't think you're be doing anything." Odalia said, holding Amity's arm behind her back, "Just sit back and watch the show."
Luz started to get up, but that was quickly stopped when the Abomination formed its hand into an axe and slammed it in her back. Blood fell out of her and she started to get shaky arms. The Abomination pulled out its hand and Luz fell to the ground. She knew this wouldn't look good if she died and came back to life, so she decided to play dead. Odalia smiled and turned her attention back to Amity.
"As for you. You have messed up badly. You will be punished- are you crying? Over that pathetic creature?!"
"You-"
Odalia slapped Amity, hard across the face.
"Don't talk back to me!"
The sound of the slap rang in Luz's ears, and her eyes opened. They were red and orange. That was the last straw. The Phoenix was out.
"Now, I think I know a good punishme-"
Odalia was cut off as she was grabbed by her neck and lifted off the ground. Everyone was surprised when the girl they just watched get killed, while they cheered, now was holding the single most influential witch on the Boiling Isles with no effort. Luz's hair burst into flames and her arms turned red.
"You have a lot to answer for. First, you try and kill me, then you threaten my friends, then you SLAPPED Amity."
Luz threw Odalia into the wall with one arm. Odalia fell to the ground and held groaned in pain. Luz walked over to her and held an arm out. It caught fire and she gave Odalia a glare.
"Give me one good reason I shouldn't turn you into barbeque."
Odalia did the one thing she never has done before... cower in fear.
"I... don't kill me! Please! I'll do anything!"
Luz continued to glare at her. Odalia began to bow.
"I-I-I never meant to upset you! Had I known you were the Phoenix, I would've kissed the ground you walked on!"
Luz let the fire die down and grabbed Odalia by the hair. She pulled Odalia up and stared at her in the eyes.
"You will never threaten my friends again. You will stop being a horrible person. You will let your children be themselves." Luz said, "If I ever hear you hurt your children again, I will hunt you down and when I get done, they'll find you already cremated. Do you understand?"
Odalia stayed quiet.
"DO YOU UNDERSTAND?!"
Luz's hair became a roaring bonfire, scaring everyone in the room.
"Yes! Yes, I understand!"
The fire went down and Luz returned to normal.
"Good."
She grabbed Amity's hand and pulled her out. Amity was so confused and shocked, she didn't even blush. Later, Odalia had calmed down and looked at Alador.
"On the bright side, we sold every unit." She said.
"Correct." A voice said.
Odalia and Alador looked at the door and saw Lilith and the Golden Guard. Odalia quickly bowed, pulling Alador down.
"W-w-what do we owe the pleasure of the two most powerful members of the Coven showing up here?" Odalia asked.
"We noticed how well your Abominations were able to fight against the Phoenix." Lilith said.
"The Coven is buying all of them, in preparation of the Day of Unity." Golden Guard said.
"W-w-we're honored." Odalia said.
"You should be." G.G said, "The Emperor doesn't like industrial businesses having an army."
They walk out and the Blights look at each other. Luz walked back to the Owl House and just faceplanted onto her sleeping mat, who cares if she breaks her nose, it'll heal in twenty seconds. She was out the second her head hit the pillow.
It feels a little rushed, I'm still trying to get the pacing correctly. Follow, Favorite, and Review for more.
