Luz was reading through the book her mom had. Eda sat next to her on the couch and looked at her.
"So, when are you going to go back to school?" Eda asked.
"When I can figure out this whole... God thing."
Eda pulled the book away and closed it.
"Kid, what's the matter?"
"Nothing's the mat-" She noticed Eda's look and knew she wouldn't buy it, "Eda, last week, I was human, now I'm some kind of undying fire god that is meant to save the world. How am I supposed to handle that?"
"Honestly, Kid? I don't know. I don't know what it's like to be some chosen one." Eda said, "I thought you wanted to be a chosen one."
"That was when I was naïve. Now I know how bad this could be. The weight of the world is on my shoulders, a-a-and I'm afraid of collapsing under the pressure."
Luz started shaking and Eda pulled her into a hug.
"Don't worry, Kid. I'm here for you."
"Eda... I'm scared." Luz whispered, "What if I fail."
"You won't."
"How do you know?"
"Because... I believe in you."
Eda felt her dress get wet and realized that Luz was crying. It didn't take Eda that long to realize what was happening. Luz was an outcast in the Human Realm, she probably wasn't used to people giving her encouragement. Eda ruffled Luz's hair.
"You're going to be a great God kid. Nothing is going to stop you."
Outside, Lilith and Golden Guard were watching the Owl House... the actual building, not the show.
"We have to deal with that infernal house demon before we do anything else." Lilith said, "Any ideas?"
"I might have one." Golden Guard said.
Hooty heard a noise and looked around. He was hit with a sleeping spell the second he turned to in Golden Guards direction.
"He's out." Golden Guard said, "Time to go in."
Lilith stood up.
"Abomitrons, attack the Owl House!"
The goo monsters charged at the Owl House. Inside, Eda put Luz in her nest and put a blanket over her.
"Sleep well, Kid." Eda said.
She walked downstairs, right as the Coven broke in. Eda quickly grabbed her staff. She glared as Lilith walked in.
"Edalyn, it's time to stop with this childish game. Hand over the Portal, the girl, and come join the Coven."
Eda growled at her.
"Give it up Owl Lady." Golden Guard said, "You're powerless."
Eda smirked.
"Maybe, if I didn't have access to a God with the ability to heal."
Eda made a Circle and blasted them outside. Lilith got on a knee and looked at Eda.
"Abomitrons, capture Edalyn!"
The twenty or so Abomitrons charge at Eda. Eda made several spell circles, trying to keep them back as much as possible. Soon, though, she was overcome with Abominations. They grabbed her and forced her to her knees. Lilith and Golden Guard come over to her.
"Now then, let's try this again. Give us the portal, hand over the girl, and join the Coven." Lilith said, "I'm done playing around."
Eda looked at Lilith and spit at her. Lilith kept a blank face and wiped the spit away.
"Very well." Lilith said.
She slapped Eda.
"I am tired of you acting like this! You are not better than everyone because you're a wild witch, you're just a failure! I've given you every chance to change your ways, but I'm done! Either you give us what we want and join the Coven or we kill you right here and now!"
Eda looked at them and glared at them.
"Do it then, prove that even though I'm the cursed one, you're the real monster." Eda said.
Lilith raised her staff, ready to slam it down and cave Eda's skull in. Her staff was only inches away when a red hand grabbed it.
"Don't even think about it."
