"Okay, I can do this." Luz said, "It's just school, nothing bad. You've done it before."
"Kid, if you're done giving yourself a pep talk, how about you get on the staff?" Eda said.
Luz got on the staff and Eda took off, not stopping until they made it to Hexside.
"Alright, Kid, you're here. Try not to burn the place down." Eda said.
Luz watched as Eda flew away and turned to face the school. She grabbed the straps of her bag and let out a breath.
"Okay, I got this. Nothing too bad."
Luz walked into the building and made it to her locker without incident.
"Luz?"
Luz looked over and saw Gus and Willow.
"Friends!"
The trio hugged.
"We've been wondering when you'd come back." Gus said.
"Yeah, what's been going on?" Willow asked.
"Oh, I've just been trying to lay low." Luz said, "Fighting a Coven Leader sorta makes you public enemy."
"I guess you're right." Willow, "So, we never asked, but how did you manage to get away?"
"Oh, uh... well, you know, Eda and Lilith had a massive magic battle. Nothing major." Luz said, "Anyway, I have to go to class, see ya!"
Luz quickly ran around the corner where she ran into-
"Amity! Oh my, gosh. Are you okay?"
Luz helped Amity up.
"I've... been better." Amity said, "Does my head look bruised?"
"I don't see anything."
"Well, not everyone has cool healing powe-"
Luz put a hand over Amity's mouth.
"Don't talk about that here." Luz said, "I don't want anyone to know about that."
Amity removed Luz's hand.
"Luz, you have to accept that-"
Luz put her hand on Amity's mouth again. Amity got annoyed and grabbed the hand. She pulled Luz to the closest room, which was the janitor's closet.
"Luz, you have to accept this. You are the Phoenix." Amity said, "There is nothing that can change that."
"Amity, I don't want this. I already told you."
"Yeah, the responsibility and all that. Luz, do I look like I was born yesterday? What's really the problem?"
"I... I... I don't want to be seen as a freak!" Luz said, "In the Human Realm, I was seen as weird. Here, I was seen as weird too, but it wasn't nearly as bad, and people here actually have started to like me. I don't want to be a God, I just want to be me."
Amity noticed the tears in Luz's eyes.
"Do you know how many times I've been bullied because of being me?" Luz asked, "Do you know how many times I've had bruises cover my body because people don't like how much I like witches and magic? I was an outcast back home because I was weird, here, I'm an outcast because I'm a god. I don't want to be an outcast."
Amity grabbed Luz's hand.
"Luz, I promise, I won't let that happen here." Amity said, "Luz, no matter what happens, I won't let you be alone. I'll be here for you."
"Thank you, Amity, you're a good friend." Luz looked at Amity, who looked upset, "Is there something wrong?"
"Luz, there's something I've wanted to tell you for a while." Amity said, "I-"
She was cut off when the bell went off.
"Looks like it's time for class." Luz said, "Sorry, I have to go."
Luz walked away, leaving Amity in the closet (That's not meant to be a joke!). In another part of the Isles, Lilith walked up to a large cage.
"Do I even want to know where you managed to find this?" She asked.
"Look hard enough and you can find anything." Golden Guard said, "After all, it's the only known enemy to a phoenix."
Golden Guard hit the cage with his staff, causing the massive bird to go crazy.
"Don't worry, girl, you'll get feed soon."
