Guys the Death Glider is a reptile, not a bird. Even if it was, a Death Glider knows better than to mess with a Phoenix, because it knows that it can't kill the bird of rebirth.

Lilith and Golden Guard dropped the cage just behind the tree line.

"Andyou're certain this will work?" Lilith asked.

"Beyond certain." Golden Guard said, "Open the cage."

The guards opened the cage and the large black bird flew out, leaving a trail of ash behind it. Inside, Luz was trying to get through class, it's only been three days since she came back, and she still hasn't gotten used to it.

"Hey, Round Ears."

Luz sighed.

"Hello, Boscha."

"I haven't seen you for a while, I wonder if you forgot your place." Boscha asked.

"No, I haven't, but I have forgotten how bad your breath smells. Do the Boiling Isles not have mints?"

Boscha growled and held up a fist. Luz quickly grabbed it and pulled Boscha next to her, just as the bird came flying up through the center area, its talons barely missing Boscha's back.

"You're welcome." Luz said.

The speaker went off and Bump's voice echoed through the school.

"Attention students, classes have been canceled for the rest of the day. Please make your way to the nearest exit and/or secured location. Preferably before you are eaten by the monstrous bird demon attacking the school."

The students panicked and ran out as soon as possible. The bird came back and held on to the railing with its talons. Luz got a better look at the bird, realizing that it looked familiar.

"A Phoenix?"

The black bird opened its beak and let out a blast of ash at Luz. Boscha tackled Luz, leading to the ash to hit the locker and they started to burn. Boscha scrambled to her feet, with Luz not that far behind.

"What is that thing?" Luz asked.

"It's an Extinguished Phoenix. A Phoenix that has unable to be reborn after death and is made of ash. It shoots ash that can burn someone faster than fire."

Boscha grabbed Luz's wrist and pulled her down the stairs, right as the Extinguished Phoenix was about to catch them. It flew right past them and crashed into a wall.

"Why is it here?"

"I don't know, it should be extinct. Its food isn't here, so it shouldn't even be here."

"What's its food source?" Luz asked.

"Phoenixes." Boscha said, "They're the only known enemy of a Phoenix. No one knows why it eats the creature it used to be, but it does. Enough questions, we're almost outside."

The two made it out, where Bump and many of the students were, and looked back.

"I think we're safe." Luz said.

The Extinguished Phoenix burst through the door and looked at them. The massive bird started to walk towards the group, each step burning the ground. Luz got in front of the group.

"You're after me." She said, "So do what you were sent here to do."

It hit her with a fast headbutt, sending her into a tree. It grabbed her with its talons and started to force them into her. Luz screamed in pain until something caused it to release her.

"Leave her alone!"

Luz knew that voice. The person that the voice belonged to got in between her and the demon.

"Amity?"

"Stay away from MY Luz!"

The demon screeched at Amity, sending ash at her, which caused her to fall and hold her burnt arm. Amity screamed and Luz ran over to her.

"AMITY!"

"I... I'm sorry. I... couldn't let it... kill you before... I could tell you."

"Tell me what?"

"I... I... I love you!"

Before Luz could say anything, she was hit by a wing. She was knocked back and the Extinguished Pheonix turned its attention back to Amity. It flew at her, but was stopped short. It looked back and saw Luz, holding it by its tail.

"If you want to burn someone, burn me, not the girl I love."

Amity put a hand over her chest and smiled. The demon shot ash at Luz, who put her hand up and it was covered in burning hot ash.

"Not bad. My turn."

Luz closed her fist and her arms turned red, sending the ash off of her arms with ease. Luz's eyes changed and her hair burst into flames.

"You wanted a Phoenix, then come and get me!"

The demon turned around and shot ash at her. Luz easily avoided it and punched it right in the beak. It screeched at her and grabbed her with its talons. It flew in the air and tossed Luz up into the sky. Luz easily started flying and looked at it.

"Alright, you want to fight up here? Fine."

Luz flew at it and hit it. It was knocked back and then flew at her. Luz flew above it and sent fire at it, with no effect.

"Alright, you're fire proof. Let's see how you do... without your wings!"

Luz flew at it and got on its back. She ripped its wings off and it fell out of the sky. Luz watched it land on the ground and flew down at high speed. She hit it in the head and watched as it became nothing but a pile of ash.

"I'm not like any other Phoenix. I'm stronger, faster, smarter. Attacking me was a mistake."

Luz went over to Amity and put her hands on her arm.

"Don't worry, Amity, I can heal you."

Luz watched as the red on her arms went onto Amity and a small blast of power went off, this time, Luz didn't get knocked back. Amity looked at her arm, no signs of injury or anything.

"Thank you... Luz. Oh, I'm tired."

Luz returned to normal and smiled.

"Yeah, that's not surprising, I'm a little tired too."

"Luz, about what I said-"

Luz pulled Amity into a kiss, when they separated Amity looked very... tomato like.

"I like you too, Amity. Would you like... to be my... girlfriend?"

"Yes!"

Luz looked behind her and realized that everyone was filming.

"Well, there goes my secret."
