This is a short one off with spoilers for "Through The Looking Glass Ruins." I've been getting into The Owl House quite a bit lately, and this is how I imagine the day after Luz and Amity's kiss could play out. I appreciate feedback. I haven't been on here in a long time, but I've gotten some new inspiration to come back and perhaps I'll do more stories in the future.
Luz couldn't sleep that night. She had her blankets pulled over her, but after what happened earlier, she was too flustered to sleep. Did she really give me a kiss? She remembered how Amity kissed her on the cheek...how she had wanted to kiss Amity back, but she was basically frozen...how her line of sight shifted to Amity's lips...and how after Amity ran back into the house, her knees gave out...she was in total shock...
She had told Eda, King and Hooty all about her day when she got back home. It had gotten to the point where Amity is all she can talk about...all she can think about...
When did she start liking me back?
She pulled out the Grom photo. She looked at Amity. I need to get a picture with her new hair, she thought. She stared longingly at the picture of her and Amity. She was so used to never having anyone reciprocate her crushes. Now what do I do? Do I ask her out? What if she gets embarrassed and runs away again?
Needless to say, things have gotten way more complicated.
The next morning, Hooty came in through the window to wake Luz up.
"Rise and hoot, sleepyhead!"
"Five more minutes..." Luz hadn't gotten that much sleep. Four hours, at the most.
"You got to get up for school, hoot hoot!"
"School? Oh cramity, I gotta see Amity!" Luz wanted to see Amity so badly. She got out of bed and got ready. For someone operating on four hours of sleep, she managed to muster enough energy to change her clothes, brush her teeth, eat breakfast and get to Hexside before classes started.
Gus and Willow were waiting outside. Willow had visited the healing coven and was in much better condition than yesterday, though she was told not to overexert herself. Gus was still apologizing for the pixie incident, but Willow had no hard feelings. It was an honest mistake.
"Hey Luz, I just saw Amity," Willow said. "You gotta see her new hair."
"Oh, yea, I saw..." Luz was blushing.
"Wait, when?" Willow asked.
"I was...at her house..." Luz was getting more and more flustered by the second. She felt like her face was on fire.
"Are you okay, Luz?" Willow asked.
"OhyeaI'mfine...where's Amity at?" Luz had her mind stuck on Amity.
"She's probably already in class by now," Gus said. "She likes to wait in class before it starts, so she'll most likely be alone for the next ten minutes and...she's gone..."
Luz had ran into the school.
"Oh yea, she's absolutely smitten," Willow said.
Luz ran down the hall until she came across the class Amity was in. She took a deep breath, and looked through the little window on the door. Sure enough, Amity was sitting at her desk, twiddling her thumbs, her lavender hair looking a little messy. It looked like she hadn't gotten much sleep either.
"Okay, Luz, you can do this...just talk to her..."
Luz slowly opened the door and peeked in.
"H...hey Amity," Luz whispered nervously.
"L...Luz? What are you doing in my class?" Amity began to blush redder than a tomato.
"I just...I knew you'd probably be waiting in class, and..."
The teacher looked over and noticed Luz trying to talk to Amity. He got up from behind his desk. "If you'll excuse me...I have to get some...supplies from the other room." He stepped out to give them a moment alone.
"Luz, I'm...I'm sorry for last night...I don't know what came over me..."
"Amity, you don't have to apologize..."
"No, I do...I shouldn't have done that without asking...I know you only think of me as a friend and...I don't want to ruin that..."
"Amity, I..."
Luz got closer to Amity.
"Huh?" Amity was confused. Why is she getting closer?
"I used to think of you as a friend...but...so much has changed...ever since you saved me from your mom, I...can't get my mind off of you...I guess you could say...you snuck into my heart as well..."
Amity's eyes widened as Luz leaned in closer and their lips met, their eyes closing as they kissed each other. Amity's mind was in full panic mode at this point. Abort, abort... but then she started to accept the kiss. This is what she wanted ever since Grom, but she never had the courage to ask Luz. She had never even had a crush before, and now all of a sudden, a human comes into her life and now she's a flustered mess. And now the moment she had been dreaming of since Grom had finally happened, and it was pure bliss.
Luz and Amity slowly backed their faces away.
"Oh, wow..." Amity said.
"Yea...wow..." Luz could barely contain herself. This was her first real kiss.
It was Amity's, too.
"Luz, I...I have to admit something..." she pulled out the note from Grom.
"What's this?"
"I...taped the Grom letter back together...please read it..." Amity handed the letter to Luz.
Luz,
Will you go to Grom with me?
Amity
Luz was stunned. She wanted to ask...me?
"Amity..."
"I wanted to give you this at Grom, but...I was so afraid of getting rejected...when Grometheus brought my fear to life, that figure...it was you...I was so afraid that you wouldn't like me back..."
Luz's eyes widened. She had a crush on me first?
"I...I don't know what to say, Amity...I can't say whether or not I would've accepted back at Grom...but what I do know is that I accept now. I...love you, Amity..."
Luz and Amity kissed again as kids started to come into class. They both started feeling embarrassed at the spectators seeing them kiss, but they no longer cared. The fact that they now had each other was more than enough to not let the feelings of embarrassment overwhelm them.
"I'm gonna get to class," Luz said after they stopped kissing. "I'll see you later."
"Okay, L...Luz, I'll see you later..."
They waved at each other as Luz ran to her class. She ended up being late, but Amity's teacher had already come up with an excuse for her tardiness. The rest of the day, Luz and Amity could only think about each other and barely even concentrated on their school work.
After school, Luz caught up with Amity and offered to walk her home, which Amity gladly accepted. As they walked to Amity's house, hand in hand, the cool breeze softly blowing around them reminding Luz of autumn in the human realm, they arranged some date plans for the weekend...
