Round and pointy.

The first time was in Amity's secret hideout in the library.

Luz still didn't fully understand how or why the good witch Azura's books were available in both realms, but when the sixth book came out, she came to the conclusion that it wasn't so important if she could continue to enjoy her favorite saga.

Even more so when she now had someone to share it with.

Luz and Amity were sitting side by side on multicolored puffs that Eda had gotten from the leftovers from the human world she had, each with their respective copy of the sixth part of the saga.

After a week of ecstasy and excited anticipation at the announcement of the next part, Amity and Luz arranged a book club meeting for as soon as they both got the book.

They had been reading nonstop for almost an hour, the silence interrupted only by the occasional gasp of surprise or a squeal of excitement.

Now, Luz had two ways to read almost any book.

Read it completely, long and straight through, sometimes forgetting to eat, sleep or even go to the bathroom...

Or, getting distracted every five minutes, no matter how interesting what she was reading might be.

Usually that didn't happen, unless there was something more interesting to catch her attention.

Don't misunderstand, Luz loves to read, and even more so if it's Azura's books! But...

Amity was right next to her, so close that she could feel the warmth of her skin.

Luz was easily distracted, and Amity distracted her a lot.

Since five minutes ago, when Amity let out such a lovely giggle for some reason, Luz stopped reading to look at her, and she couldn't stop.

She watched unabashedly at the adorable expressions Amity was making, completely immersed in her reading.

She was completely different from the girl who shook her violently the first time she spoke to her, demanding to know what she was.

Luz liked her, and liked her a lot.

The day Amity dyed her hair lavender and kissed her cheek out of nowhere, when she saw her run completely embarrassed, babbling in panic with a precious blush on her cheeks.

She had left her on her knees.

Literally.

That was when she stopped lying to herself.

But now she didn't know what to do.

Luz was sure Amity had feelings for her too.

They were both still a blushing mess at the slightest flirtation or innuendo, and Amity was even more so.

Luz didn't know where to start, or what to say, Amity would shut down and change the subject in a panic the moment it appeared, and Luz didn't want to push her.

Burning every little gesture of the lilac haired girl into her memory, the chocolate eyes eventually ended up on her lips.

And Luz had to stifle a sigh as her cheeks grew warm.

Twitch.

A brief movement caught her attention.

Twitch twitch twitch.

Amity's ears were twitching!

So cute!

Luz continued to watch, completely fascinated.

Amity, impassive and sunk in reading, smiled hugely at some event on the pages.

And her ears went from twitching...

To fluttering.

Too cute!

On impulse, for a change, Luz reached out and touched the helix of Amity's right ear.

The little ears of the witch suddenly stopped fluttering and pointed upwards in alert.

"What are you doing?!" She shrieked in panic dropping the book and covering her ears.

Luz picked up her arm and noticed the shocking blush on her best friend's pale cheeks, instantly mimicking it.

"I'm sorry!" She shrieked as well. "It's just that your ears were fluttering and they looked so cute! And I! I just wanted to-sorry, I'm sorry!"

They both turned their heads the other way quickly.

Luz's mind was racing at the speed of... Well, light.

Stupid, you fool! Why did I do that?! Of course she was going to freak out! Ay Diosito, always the same! Think before you act Luz! THINK BEFORE YOU ACT!

"...uch them..." She heard Amity say, so quietly, she couldn't even understand.

"I'm sorry Amity? I didn't hear you right..."

The witch tensed and inhaled deeply, the scarlet hadn't left her cheeks.

"...I said you can touch them." She said at last. "M-my ears, if you want."

Luz gasped softly and her eyes sparkled with excitement.

She reached out again, and with her forefinger, gently stroked the witch's ear, from the helix, to the lobe.

The ear quivered briefly and tinged pink, Luz appreciated how Amity tensed and clenched her fists as she squeezed her eyelids, she was also holding her breath.

She was clearly uncomfortable.

Feeling remorseful, Luz started to pull her hand away.

"No!" gasped Amity, grabbing Luz's hand before she could pull away any further.

Luz looked at her in surprise, while Amity fiddled with her skirt with her opposite hand.

"Uh..." She faltered in embarrassment. "I-it's okay, I'm just... I'm just not used to it, but you can touch them, really, I... I want you to."

Luz gasped softly again, enraptured by the witch's tender gesture, and her bold words.

"Are you sure?" she asked squeezing Amity's hand that held hers.

Amity sighed and slowly brought Luz's hand back to her ear, nodding softly.

Luz smiled reassuringly as her chest swelled with anticipation.

She brought her fingers to the back of Amity's helix, offering soft, delicate caresses, while her thumb gently traced the skin of the lobe, around the earring she wore.

She then brought her thumb to the tip of her helix, rubbing gently.

The red of Amity's skin gradually turned to a soft pink, her shoulders slowly relaxed as she leaned her weight on the puff, and without realizing it, she began to rest her head lightly against Luz's caresses, while closing her eyes.

Her ear, which at first flapped gently, relaxed and flattened against the witch's skull, flapping softly from time to time.

Luz was captivated, Amity's skin was the softest and warmest thing she had ever touched in her life, the slight movements of her ears let her know that the caresses pleased her, and Amity's trust and relaxed gesture made the butterflies in her belly flutter.

After a little more than a minute, Amity's head was completely resting on Luz's hand, who now had her palm against her cheek as the brunette continued to caress calmly.

Mesmerized by the situation and Amity's comfort, Luz had a moment of courage and turned around on the puff, facing the witch without letting go of her ear at any moment, little by little, she stopped her rubbing.

Amity, drowsily, opened her eyes a little.

"Amity?" Luz uttered almost in a whisper.

"Hmm?" she replied closing her eyes again.

"Can you turn around?"

"Mmhmm." The witch affirmed lazily turning around on the puff as well to face Luz.

The human resumed her soft caresses, extending her right hand to place it on the witch's left cheek.

"May I?" she asked bringing her index finger to her left lobe and touching it hesitantly.

And although, very slightly, Amity's blush increased, she slowly nodded her head in affirmation.

Now with both hands, Luz affectionately caressed and rubbed the ears of her best friend, from whom she desired much more.

The warmth of her cheeks, the softness of her gesture, the slight movement of the tender ears, the intimacy of the moment, filled Luz with hope and longing.

This was a step forward, wasn't it?

Suddenly, Luz felt a slight vibration in her palms, and an almost inaudible sound.

As the seconds passed, it became more noticeable.

The human gasped softly.

"Amity, are you purring?" Luz uttered with excitement in her quiet voice.

The witch gasped too, and the sound stopped.

Her eyes widened in horror and Luz felt her balance shift away from her.

No...

Before Amity could snatch herself from her hands, Luz rushed forward swiftly and placed a soft kiss on the witch's nose.

Amity froze.

" That' s so cute..." She whispered looking straight into her eyes, then slowly, lovingly kissing her forehead, while still caressing her ears.

Slowly, very slowly, she brought her forehead to rest against Amity's, sighing.

She closed her eyes, and Amity, relaxing again, mimicked her.

The witch then brought her hands to the human's, simply resting on them.

And, louder than before, her purr returned.

That day they stayed like that for hours, unbelievably, Azura's sixth delivery, forgotten.

Just for that day.

But from then on, Luz realized that something in their relationship had changed.

And she knew she had taken a step in the right direction.

Little by little, Amity was less shy and more affectionate.

Day by day she felt closer to her.

Sometimes she would take her hand, intertwine their arms as they walked, lean her head on her shoulder as they read...

Touching her ears became a regular thing.

When they were alone, Amity began to have the habit of lying on Luz's lap, talking about everything and nothing while the human lovingly pampered her ears.

When a week passed, while in the middle of the forest, where Luz wanted to show her a cave where she found some ancient runes, Amity was nervous and fidgety.

When Luz finally got fed up with curiosity, and asked her what was going on, Amity, who had not blushed like that for days, turned into a tomato and between stammerings asked:

"L-Luz, I, I wanted to ask you..." She closed her eyes and swallowed saliva with difficulty. "C-can I touch your ears?"

The human smiled from (ironically) ear to ear.

She reached over and took Amity's hands between her own, with a fondness and gentleness reserved only for her, she lifted the hands of the witch she learned to cherish so dearly, and rested them on her own ears.

Amity's eyes sparkled with delight and the red in her cheeks turned pink.

She let out a small laugh.

"They're round..." She said smiling, making Luz giggle.

" Yeah, they're human." She replied as her thumbs made circles on the back of Amity's hands.

They stayed like that for a while, Amity tried to return every display of affection Luz had given her, in equal measure and endearment, giving soft caresses on the brunette's round ears.

Luz's ears didn't flutter, nor did she purr, but she could perfectly understand why Amity would do so.

The act so intimate, so charged with emotion and affection, filled her heart again, the witch's caresses made her feel more loved than she had ever felt before.

They left the cave hand in hand, and did not let go of each other again until they reached Blight Manor.

Again things changed, now Amity did not take her hand from time to time, she always did, no matter how small the stretch the witch intertwined their fingers with a smile full of affection, she had also gone from laying her head on her lap, to directly sitting on it ( after asking her if it was ok while she stuttered and blushed) to read together, the affections on both their ears were still usual, and now, from time to time, when Amity was saying goodbye she would leave a short kiss on Luz's lobe or cheek.

So the human began to do the same.

A couple of weeks passed and the contact and affection became a habit.

Until the day came when Luz finally decided to take the next big step.

That day she would ask Amity to be her girlfriend.

That morning she arrived happier than usual, went to her locker expecting to find her favorite witch.

But she wasn't there.

However, her best friend was.

"Willow! Good morning!" She greeted enthusiastically.

"Good morning Luz!" Willow replied all smiles.

"You look very happy today!" Luz mentioned mimicking the black-haired girl's smile. "By the way, have you seen Amity?"

"Ah, yeah, she asked me to tell you that she has a presentation in class today, so she left early, she also told me that she won't be able to see us at lunch, but that she'll be waiting for you at exit time."

"Oh..." Luz said a bit glumly. " Okay. And why are you smiling so much?"

"Ah! Let me tell you!" Willow said bouncing up and down with joy. "Professor Mandrag entrusted me to take care of a blood moon rose, it's a very delicate plant that blooms only once a year, if not properly cared for, it becomes shy and doesn't bloom, so it was quite a challenge, but... The teacher says the rose looks in perfect condition! And it' s going to bloom tonight!"

"That's great Willow!" Luz exclaimed hugging her friend. "You deserve it, congratulations!"

" Yeah!" Willow exclaimed again once Luz let go of her. "There's going to be a great party tonight to see her blossom! Do you want to come?"

"Of course I do!" The human affirmed excitedly.

"Luz, I'm so happy! A few months ago they were about to expel me and today they're going to give me the best student badge!"

Luz was about to congratulate the plant witch again, when she noticed something.

Willow's ears were fluttering!

"Awwwww! Your ears flap too!" The human exclaimed, reaching out.

Willow was not as private as Amity.

But the witch stopped her hand as soon as she noticed where it was going.

"What are you doing?!" She asked with panic and flushed cheeks.

And that was quite strange.

Luz raised her hands in innocence.

"Ah, sorry, I got excited, it's just that your ears were wiggling and it was too cute!".

"Luz! You can't just go around touching people's ears like it's nothing! You could get beaten up or even reported!"

Luz made a confused gesture.

"What, why?"

"What do you mean why?! Luz, ears are something very private!"

" They are?"

Willow relaxed a little and released Luz's hand.

"Yeah... Aren't they for humans?"

"Uh... Well, more or less, I've never seen a human react the way you did when a friend touches their ear."

Willow opened her eyes in surprise.

"Oh... Luz, you should be more careful, ears are a very delicate thing for witches, they're very sensitive, and it's very rare to allow someone to touch them, it's usually something only couples do."

Luz blushed.
