Luz lay in bed as she looked at her phone, her leg raised up in a cast to keep from hurting. The pain had subsided this time, but she could still feel the ache. The light from her phone illuminated her brown eyes as she looked at all of the pictures she had taken. As she got to her collection of Amity pictures a blush crept up in her face. "I'm so glad you didn't get hurt." She commented out loud as she slid her finger along the picture of Amity's cheek.
Eda burst into the room causing Luz to drop her phone for the hundredth time that day. "Eda… can you knock!" Luz called out as she tried to grab her phone, as it rolled off her bed. King darted in to save the phone as he landed on his back. "Saved!" He shouted as he held the phone up excitedly. Before he handed the phone back the pup looked at the picture that was there. "Why are you looking at pictures of your school?" King asked as if she had lost her mind. Luz took the phone back as she held it close. "No reason." She said closing the picture app before Eda got any funny ideas.
Eda smiled brightly as she spoke in her uppity tone. "Well you won't believe this, we have a date with destiny today." Eda started off when King gave a confused look. Luz blushed again as she thought she was talking about Amity, when King pointed out, "No we have a date with the human world. Remember Owlbert is getting this week's human pull." Eda sighed as Luz looked back to her phone with a bit of a smile. "Yes King, but that is a date with destiny because we can sell all of the stuff again with Luz's help." King looked to Eda then Luz. "But you are going to confuse her if you talk about destiny, and dating. We are just selling some stuff."
Luz looked between the two as they fought and she couldn't go anywhere. "Ummm… guys… you know I can't go anywhere. Right?" Eda looked at the girl's foot and shrugged. "I thought you were just faking it to get out of the school trip. Are you sure it's even hurt?" She asked as she slapped the cast causing a vibration to go through Luz's body. "Oooowwwwweeee" she cried out as she held her leg. Eda just smirked then. "Oh, I guess you weren't. Well, it's a good thing your friend came by to help us then?" She stated as Amity popped her head in to look into the room.
Luz looked to the girl then to Eda screaming at the owl lady with her eyes asking why she didn't lead with Amity being here. Amity raised her hand slowly and waved softly as she tried not to blush, a pink line appearing on her face. "Hey, Luz… I… I'm so sorry about the game… and getting you injured." She said as she stepped in and looked around the room. As she glanced at all of the witch related stuff she noticed some of Luz's drawings and started to admire them from afar. The art style showing improvement over time as she looked from one picture too another.
Eda smiled as she glared at the girl. "What? She just came over, was I supposed to know? You don't tell me when you have friends over." She takes King's hand and leads in from the room. "Well, we are going out. You two behave. Hooty will keep an eye on you both." Hooty then popped in as he hooted out, "I'll be the best watcher ever." Before he was magically pushed back out by Amity's spell.
Both girls held a blush on their faces as they shared a look between each other before Luz looked down nervously. The door was closed as Eda and King left and Amity turned to look at the door and when she did her cloak flourished around her. Luz looked up at the sound and when she saw the cloak she gasped and squealed.
"W… when did you get a cloak? It… it looks amazing!" Amity turned back around to look at the girl with a blush. "Oh? This? I… got this… when we went to… the Emperor's Coven today. That was the trip you missed from school. I know you are not really a fan of the covens, but I thought I could come by and tell you about the trip." Amity sat at the end of the bed, by Luz's leg, as she looked over the girl. She started to feel depressed, she didn't want to hurt her friend.
A blush crossed her face again as she tried to figure out what Luz was to her. The night of the Grom came back into her mind, and the dance they had. Her blush grew brighter as Luz just smiled. "I'm sure it was a fun trip. I'd love to hear about it, but why did they give you a cloak?" She asked, confused, as she did not understand the gesture. Amity explained that the cloak was a way of designating who was part of what faction, and as someone who was aspiring to join the Emperor's Coven, they gave it to her as a keepsake. To remind her where she wanted to join.
As Luz listened to the girl she was crushing on, her mind kept going to places it shouldn't. She thought about them flying together, and holding hands in a forest, and sitting at the beach watching the waves come in. The thoughts that roamed her mind helped her to focus on the golden eyes of the Blight girl in front of her.
Luz started to shiver a bit as it was getting cold in the room and Amity noticed this in the middle of her story. Amity started to take off her cloak and mentioned the material it was made of as she stood up and walked closer to Luz. She then draped the cloak around the girl as she pulled it to the front and tied the string. Her hands lingered a bit on the string as she looked into the brown eyes of the girl she was falling in love with.
She never stopped talking about the trip or the cloak the entire time, trying not to make the situation awkward at all. Luz did not hear a single word the girl was saying as she stared into her golden eyes. Her blush crept back up as she looked between the girl's eyes and her lips wondering what the slight pink on her lips was.
Her hand instinctively moved to the girl's cheek causing Amity to blush as she leaned into the girl's touch. Neither girl knew what they were doing, as they both were just moving on their own. Their minds locked into very specific thoughts as Amity talked about the uneventful trip and Luz wondered about Amity's lip gloss.
When Amity stopped talking, the story being over, they both snapped out of their trance and each reacted by pulling away. Luz held onto the cloak and squeezed it against her as Amity stood up and looked away blushing. Luz was about to call Amity to sit back down when she stared the girl down.
"Luz… I.. cannot do this anymore. This dance we do." She said as she started to falter in her words. "I need to know what you feel about me." She then sat back down next to the girl as she leaned in close. Luz looked the girl in the eyes as she blushed bright. She was about to speak when Amity interrupted the girl's thoughts by grabbing her hands. She held them close to her heart as she felt her throat close up.
"I… I have been so confused since I met you. I have thought so many things I never thought of before, and I've done so many stupid things I've never thought about doing before. But for the life of me, I don't think any of it was wrong or bad. But I think I need a change." She said as she rubbed the girl's hands against her cheek. As Amity admitted her feelings to the girl, Luz listened to every word.
Her mind started to wander a bit as she pulled her hands back, pulling the witch's hand with. She then brought the hands to her lips and kissed them softly as Amity stopped talking. "Amity… I have done stupid things around you too. I know it usually leads us to trouble. But.." She was stopped when Amity leaned in and kissed the girl's cheek. "You always have a way of sneaking into people's hearts. Including mine."
Luz tightened her grip on the girl's hands as her blush deepened. Before she could pull too far away, Luz leaned in and kissed the girl's lips softly. The awkward taste of her lip gloss being passed between them. Amity only pulled back when she felt the kiss had ended. Her blush was bright as she tried to look anywhere but the girl's eyes.
"Luz. I." Before she got any more words Luz spoke up. "I was… hoping to say… that yes. I do like you." Her voice was a bit higher pitched as she spoke with nervousness in her throat. Amity squeezed the girl's hands with confirmation as she smiled bright. "I like you too." Luz pulled the girl to her as they shared another quick kiss before Amity stood up. She felt like she was pushing too much but she didn't let go as she smiled. "Maybe I should get on the other side?" She said softly as she finally released her hands.
Luz untied the string of the cloak and pushed the left side open as Amity climbed it in the bed. "I…" she was about to continue when Luz reached over and pulled her close and wrapped the cloak around them. She then cuddled into the girl as she took her right hand in her left. "So… what have you been doing in bed all day?" Amity asked the girl next to her now as she felt the girl lean on her shoulder. She tried to keep the conversation going so as to not make things awkward. "I.. may have been… looking at photos… we took." She said as she took out her phone and flipped through the photos of Amity.
The green-haired girl blushed bright as she looked at all the memories they had already made. "You… take a lot of pictures." She said teasingly as Luz quickly slipped through several photos she didn't want Amity to see. Amity was about to ask her to go back, but left it alone, as she figured the girl would tell her when she was ready. When Luz stopped on the photo of them at Grom, she smiled and blushed. "You know you never told me who you were going to ask to Grom." Luz spoke up as Amity looked into the girl's eyes.
The look told Luz exactly what she wanted as she leaned up and kissed the girl for the third time since they started their budding relationship. Amity smiled softly as she blushed and asked her question that had been on her mind for a few days now. "Luz, will you… be my... girlfriend?" Her voice almost choked as Luz smiled at the girl. Amity waited patiently for the girl's answer as they lay there holding hands.
