Despite everything Willow has done in the past few months, Boscha still couldn't leave her alone. She had proven herself as a proper witch, a powerful one at that! She had friends who would drop everything in a second for her and come to her aid. She even made it clear her desire to protect those she loves, and will not hesitate to defend herself and others...so why was Boscha still, after all this time, trying to pick fights?
Granted, Boscha has toned down her bullying quite a lot after that grugby match. She no longer openly mocked Willow and her friends, but she learned how to be a lot more subtle in her methods. One day it's a piece of gum placed on her seat, the next it's finding her locker covered in mud. Today it was finding an infestation of lady-bugs in her bag, making Willow almost have a heart-attack. Luz thankfully took care of cleaning out her bag for her, knowing of her coccinellidaephobia, and was doing a final check over of the bag to make sure no one ladybugs were hiding inside of it.
" Maybe we should get Boscha back?" Gus suggested as he paced in front of her.
" As much as I'd like to figure out something, it's not like we have proof that Boscha is the one doing this. I rather not get in trouble with Bump for getting even." Willow sighed as she looked over to Luz, who was now joined by Amity. They were chatting as Luz shook the bag around violently, before stopping to look back into the bag.
" There has to be something we can do! Boscha just can't keep getting away with this!" Gus pleaded, running his hands through his hair as he tried to think, " What if...we tricked her into running into the Emperor's Palace?"
Willow gave a light laugh at that, Gus did try his best and she appreciated that. Lucky for her, before she could give him a reply, Luz and Amity appeared with the former holding out her cleaned bag. " There! All done and lady-bug free!"
Willow smiled, accepting her bag back with a nod, " Thank you, Luz...I think I am just going to head home now. I am feeling a bit tired."
Luz, Amity, and Gus all shared looks, before looking back to the plant-witch. " You know, we could go somewhere and-" Amity started.
" No thanks, guys. I'd just like to be alone." Willow interrupted, giving a weak smile to the group before summoning Clover's staff. " I'll see you guys tomorrow, alright?"
The group of teens gave light nods, and looks of worry, before Willow sat on her staff and took off in the direction of home, but once obscured by Hexside's roof, turned to head in a different direction. She didn't want to go home just yet, she wanted to check up on the little grove in the woods first.
Willow had first stumbled across the small field by accident. It was one of the first times she was testing out flying on Clover, and had noticed a bare spot in the woods she never noticed before. After curiosity gained the better of her, she landed in the field and noticed many rocks had been balanced around the grove. All were different sizes, some having more rocks than others, and others looking more impressive than the rest.
After a quick look around, it was easy to tell that these balanced stones were only recently put here. Willow assumed that someone in the construction track at Hexside must be responsible. Leaving these kinds of statues out in the wild, as cool as they are, could be dangerous to local wild-life if one fell. So, Willow decided that instead of unstacking them, to help them be more stable by growing flora around the rocks.
That was about a week and a half ago, and she had been visiting the little grove whenever she could to make sure the plants and stones were doing ok. It's become a bit of a pet project to her, really, and helped challenge her and her abilities. Each tower needed a different method of vines being grown or the tower could topple while she was trying to secure it. She also challenged her own creativity by figuring out different types of flowers to bloom for each statue. She was rather proud of her work, and hoped that whoever put the rocks there would appreciate it.
As she drew close enough to the field to see it, she smiled to herself, even from this distance she could see the little grove was currently enveloped in a ground-mist. But then she saw a flash of movement. Someone had risen from the field and was now just above the tree lines on their own staff! Could that be the person who built the towers? Willow blinked a little dumb-founded, before trying to usher Clover to go faster in an attempt to meet with whoever the person was.
But then, a sudden flash of red-light surrounded the person, and they were now streaking away in a strange comet-like style, way too fast to even think about giving chase. Willow stopped just above the field as she watched the streak of light disappear into Bonesborough. She took a few moments to watch where it disappeared, half tempted to at least try to find them, but looking down at the field she decided against it. What if they didn't like the plants and destroyed them? What if they decided to topple all the towers over? So many negative scenarios rushed through her head.
Willow turned Clover around and in a few seconds landed in the middle of the field. She looked around in a panic at first, before coming to a slow and careful stare as she saw nothing had been harmed. The field was still covered in a bit of mist, sun-rays catching through the thick clouds, and the flowers all appeared to be healthy and happy. Willow relaxed with some relief, smiling as she turned to walk over to a statue to start really checking it over, before pausing.
There was a new statue in the field. Willow couldn't believe her eyes for a moment, before she turned and walked over to it. The person who she saw leaving -must- be the one responsible for these, then! She half wished that she had tried to fly after them, or maybe even call out to them. Willow stood just in front of the statue, looking it over with a small smile before down at the ground, a message in rocks reading 'Thanks' sitting in front of it. It made her heart flutter a bit.
After a few hours in the grove she had wrapped vines and flowers around the new tower, checked on the older statues' flora, and even tried to stack a small tower out of pebbles herself, though she was not as good as the person who balanced the larger rocks, Willow found herself back in front of the new statue, staring in thought at the message on the ground. She wanted to reply, but she just couldn't think of how. Maybe write her name so they could find her at Hexside? No…there is a chance the person doesn't actually go to Hexside. Should she say thank you back? Maybe… She sighed and looked around. Does she actually want to try to meet this person? It could be best that they are just passing strangers with this common interest.
Pondering it longer she looked back at the message, before kneeling down and drawing a circle in the air. Vines responded by gently forming her own words under the thanks for the person to read next time they come. Satisfied, Willow took upon Clover once more, looking up at the sky to see it was getting late, her Dad's would be getting worried if she stayed any longer. The teen gave a final glance back to her message, before nodding and heading on her way.
' We made something amazing!'
