Pokémon: Wings of Beginnings
Side Story 1: Entrusted Hope
???
???
???
How long has it been? He wasn't waking up. He couldn't do anything.
A large bulky-figured dragon has been seated beside a bed, having light orange scaly skin around him except for his striated underbelly, which is cream-coloured and extends from his neck to the tip of his long tapering tail.
His head consists of large, grayish-green eyes and a round snout with small nostrils. Two wavy antennae stick out from the top of his head with a small horn set between them. His thick arms and legs have three claws each. His legs have well-defined joints and his arms are smooth and rounded. He has a pair of relatively small wings with teal membranes.
He wore light traveller's clothing, fitting in the form of a light orange shirt and brown pants. A cream scarf is wrapped around his neck and he had brown boots on.
He looked over at the dragon who laid on the bed, who's only movement was the rise and fall of his chest and eyes were closed.
"Ela..." The dragon mumbles softly to himself.
He looked at one of the winged arms of the dragon. The bulky dragon reached and touched it slightly, and as expected, he didn't feel any response.
That part… It had been infecting him that he couldn't remain conscious and left him comatosed for years now. He looked at what was happening outside through the window.
Unlike around inside this room, it appears to be more bustling outside. He could see a pale yellow blur whiz past the window.
He sighed at this as he went out of the room. On his way out the corridor, he looked down to see a small toad mage looking at him. Despite his towering frame, he knew that this toad mage was older than him. Below that large hat was a worried look.
"Oh, Luca..." The dragon mumbles. He scratches his cheek. "Um... what're you doing here?"
"...How's Ela doing?" Luca asked. "Will he wake up?"
"...No... I don't see any changes today either..." The dragon mumbles.
"Oh...I see." Luca looked down. "Where will you be going now?"
The younger dragon looked at Luca. "I'm heading to a reality of this world... Reports say that there are a lot of Dulled present and survivors are struggling there..." he explains. "...I hope I can save as many lives as possible..."
"...Okay..." Luca nodded before looking at the other side. "...Marian's about to give birth soon and Vanille's water broke. We're about to see our daughter come to this world."
"Oh, that's... great!" The dragon tries to sound congratulating.
"Allen..." Luca muttered. "When will you come back?"
"...I... I'll need to finish the mission I got here." The dragon replies. "Then... I'll... get back here."
"Okay… And good luck." Luca said his farewells before he went the other way. Allen was alone once again.
He looks at his mission to refresh himself on the details of it. "...Okay... save as many lives as you can..." He says to himself. He sets the device into a pocket.
Holding a hand out, he conjures something out of thin air. A long pole with an axe blade attached by the end of one while having a sharp end as well accompanying the blade.
He took in a few breaths. "...Alright..."
He then went out of the house as a portal was conjured after he set up a device on the ground. He held his halberd close to him while his wings were spread.
With one nod, he flapped his wings and flew into the portal.
???
???
???
The Vermillion Bird… Allen looked at it and at the world around him.
"It's... a devastation..." He noted the ravaged and torn ground from where he landed. This place is already on the brink of falling apart... there's little time to waste if he wants to get to survivors.
He went about and spotted several elements falling down on the ground and Dulled were sent flying up and about. Shocked at the display, he flew onward to find who made the slam.
"Huh?" He arrives at the area and sees a figure amidst the blast.
There he found a grizzly bear holding his wounded ally with one arm as he swung his mace about, unleashing barrages of elemental attacks down. He panted, he wanted to prevent the Dulled from reaching the building he guarded.
Allen catches sight of one Dulled that is about to attack from this long range. "No, you don't!" He flies over to attack it.
The bear turned to the direction he heard a crash from and spotted Allen swinging down his halberd at the Dulled's head.
"Reinforcements?" He muttered, trying to find if this dragon was part of the team he belonged to.
Allen turns to the bear and flies over to him. "Are you alright?" He asks.
"Been facing them for hours...He was impaled by a Slicer." He answered. "They managed to defeat the I'Cie..." He looked at his wounded ally. "Gray! Are you there? Speak to me! You can't be defeated now, you're a l'Cie!"
"...Haah... Aah..." There was another bear there, a panda bear. He held his bleeding mark.
Allen looked at this. The mark of the l'Cie. This mark where on the part a Dynacrystal used to be. "...This..." he mutters softly to himself.
Meanwhile, the panda bear named Gray grunts, trying to lift himself up but remains grounded. "I can't... I ain't able to get up, ah..."
He looked at the feet, not only the brand was wounded but the tendons of his feet were cut. Allen knew that if Gray hadn't had them cut, he would live. However, the cut tendons already lost too much blood and he would be dead weight for them to get to safety. He couldn't do anything for him.
"..." Allen quietly looks down while getting up and seeing the mark on that ear.
A l'Cie… A meaning in which the crystals' power have been given to individuals to reach their peak potential.
"Come on, you promised...You promised..." The grizzly bear stuttered as tears fell down his eyes. "No...I...I can't remember...Why can't I remember? He...She...They promised to return! But..I-I can't...!"
Allen looked quietly. That was the effects of the Dynacrystal. Any who had them embedded in them will forget the deceased and be forgotten upon death.
He knew now why Gray was wounded. He was paralyzed in grief when he had forgotten someone. It gave way for the Dulled to land a lethal blow to him. This "gift" was the reason he got wounded.
"Gray, stay with me!"
"...Come on... ya gotta... get to a safe place..." Gray began to wheeze. "I ain't... gonna be any good now..."
"Not with you and..." He trailed off. "Who were we protecting?"
"...I... dunno..." Gray replies.
"...Gray..." The grizzly bear muttered. "You're my friend… I can't leave you… I hate it when everyone leaves me behind because of this damned curse! How can I be happy and move on if I keep forgetting those who passed? They're the reason I've changed and if I forget them, all I did to change would be all for nothing!"
"...Ya gotta, Garret... Ya hafta... live... We're... we need to save people like ya..."
"But… Am I not part of WINGS?" He muttered. "I used to be an enemy but… You all changed me."
"...Yah..." Gray coughs weakly, his eyelids are dropping.
"Hey, don't sleep on me now! Don't you dare close those eyes!"
Gray didn't listen to Garret and his eyes got closer to shut with every weak breath.
"...G..." Garret muttered but stopped. He froze in that position and tears began to fall on Gray's body. "I can't remember his name..." he wept on his chest. "I can't..."
Allen looks down at Gray quietly...
He turns to face the staff beside him. It began to lose all color.
But nothing could be done except to watch the staff until it was completely colourless. A grayscale of what it was before. Another sign that the user was dead. He looked at Garret and at the building behind them.
"...That building..." He asks Garret.
"..." Garret remained silent, his eyes dulled, and not showing any emotions with his face. He couldn't find any answers from him. He managed to separate Garret from Gray and went back into the building with him. When he got inside...
"...This..." he murmurs.
He looked around and saw that all of these children had killed themselves out of fear. All of them, dead. Their blood filled the room. He wanted to vomit at the sight…
He looked over at Garret… His eyes were empty as he looked at a drawing filled with blood. A drawing of him and the dead child nearby.
This was what he realized when he was speaking of protecting something...
Allen shakes Garret lightly.
"..." No response but he heard him utter, "All left." repeatedly.
"...Garret!"
"Huh?" Garret looked back with empty eyes.
"Tell me! You're still here, aren't you? You're not alone here... I, I'm right here now." Allen tells him.
"...Alone ..." Garret grimly hisses. "Why do they take them away? They'll also take you away from me. I kept fighting, yet I can never protect them."
"Don't... don't give up here... I don't think they'd either want you to be gone..." He needed to keep quiet about his learnings of the Dynacrystals.
"...Eabear..." Garret muttered before realizing. "Eabear! I...I can still remember her!"
"Who?" Allen questions.
"She's a friend of ours and...I can still remember her." He looked at the door and rushed out. "She's there, I need to get to her!"
"Wh-Wait!" Allen quickly follows after Garret. Garret looks over at the Dragonite. "Who are you?" He asked, having realized he never even asked for any identity earlier.
"Uh, I'm coming with you. You can't go there alone. Oh, and my name's A-" Allen pauses before he nearly reveals his name… No, he doesn't know anything else about this world, this reality. "...Another. Call me Another."
"Another..." Garret nodded. "We have to save Eabear."
"Alright." A nod before Allen prepares his halberd.
???
???
???
"Friend...You won't leave me, friend?" A red panda mumbles as she held a hand.
There was no response from whom she's talking to.
"Friend?" She called out. "...Sleeping friend. Okay~ I'll be there for you."
Still no response.
"Eabear! Hey!" She heard someone call, she turned to see Garret. "What happened and..."
He trailed off, seeing that arm as Allen came down. He looked at this and...
"Nnn!?" Allen nearly felt the urge to hurl come back at him all over again, looking at that... that arm this Eabear held.
He stumbled back and looked over the edge of the cliff and from there...
He could see a large spacing but clear as he could see, from a group of sharpened stone pillars, is a bloodied body hanging there, ruptured by those pillars. The appearance of what should be a polar bear.
He looked over the left arm.
That left arm was severed, a clean cut leaving a stump. And... it's severed part... is being held by that Eabear.
"O... Oh, my..." Allen covered his mouth.
"Friend is here, see?" Eabear muttered to Garret as she presented the hand.
"Eabear..." Garret choked as he embraced her. "I...I'm glad that...you're still here. You didn't leave my memories."
"I am a friend, I don't want to leave you like everyone did~" Eabear sang. "And friend too~"
Allen looked at this. She could only keep saying "friend"... because she doesn't remember whoever the owner of that... hand is.
He looked down...He was too late to save another life.
Eabear looked over and noticed his presence.
"Hello friend~" she sang. "Are you there? Don't leave us, okay~ I am Eabear Sweet~"
"My... You can call me Another." Allen tells her.
"Another, hello~" she sang.
"...I don't know what to do next." Garret muttered before looking back at Allen. "WINGS is destroyed and every remnant of humanity gone. The Legends were killed for there is no longer a Summoner to boost their power to fight back these more advanced level Dulled."
"...I don't know... But..." Allen thinks carefully. "One thing is for certain... I'm not letting any of us here die."
"...The l'Cie...I can't remember but one." Garret muttered. "They took the offer of the Vermillion Bird to become l'Cie and protect us all but one by one, they died."
"...Who is the last one?" Allen asks.
"...Sunai Kinshot." Garret answered. "He's still here because I can still remember it."
Allen looks at them. Knowing someone is alive by relying on their memories... He wanted to confirm something, but is unsure about it right away.
"We need to find him." Garret answered as he put on his radio. "l'Cie Sunai Kinshot! This is Garret Blackforest."
They heard a voice come from over there.
"Is that...?" Allen asks.
"Sunai?" Garret gasped. "Is that really you!?"
"Yes..." The voice replies. "There's only one survivor I've managed to keep safe while... everything else are blurs."
"...I don't think what you spoke was true..." Garret muttered. "If it wasn't for Another, I would have died for pausing mid battle."
"Another? Who is that?"
"Another saved us." Garret answered. "Tell us your coordinates, we'll get to you soon and keep you safe for you are the last l'Cie."
"...Alright. Here are the coordinates."
A few minutes pass and Garret nods.
"We'll be there." Garret informed before ending the call. "We got no time to waste, let's go."
"Alright." Allen nods
"Friend, help friend~" Eabear sang as they made their way to the coordinates. Allen silently followed, one more l'Cie left. There must be hope.
???
???
???
The head of a Reaver was struck by a shot through the forehead, causing its body to fall backwards.
An Inteleon with a glowing red aura looked as the body disappeared into black mist.
"They come with no end, and there appears to be no signs of a production site or so..." Sunai mutters. "To be one of the only survivors left in WINGS..."
He cocks his bayonet again, releasing energy which soon fades away upon exposure to the air and loads it again with similar energy from his body.
He looked to see a boomerang fly by. He ducks and watches it slash the neck of another of those Reavers. The boomerang returns to a considerably large, slimy dragon.
"Are you... are you alright?" The dragon asks.
"No, I'm more concerned with your status." Sunai states. "I must make certain that you live."
He shook his head, he knew that he was just a member of WINGS and Sunai was a l'Cie. His life is far more important than his.
"No, you can't just say that..." The slimy dragon counters.
Sunai looked at the mark on his hand of where his Dynacrystal used to be.
"...Sooner or later, these Dulleds will overpower me, just as the ones who I can't remember their identities did." Sunai tells him. "It's a telltale sign that says you shouldn't combat them. Thus, I'm ensuring your survival, Ubis Ripplen."
l'Cie… Members of WINGS who accepted the power of the Vermillion Bird to combat these Dulled. They were their only hope, Ubis knew this.
Sunai focuses his attention on the growing horde on the horizon.
He looked at his sash of Ethers to find if he could replenish his supply of bullets.
"...I only have a few shots left. I must make full use of them." He analyzed.
Ubis looked around before he spotted someone falling down into the hoard of Reavers.
"Huh?" He began to say before a cyclone was suddenly produced from the landing of that figure, picking up the nearby Reavers.
Then there was a blast of Lightning Magic appearing to fry them away. The user spun around his mace that sent several elemental barrages around. He swung and sent Reavers flying away.
One Reaver was about to get up when someone landed on top of its chest and destroyed the core within.
Sunai watches the attack and a small smile forms. "...It took them some time, but they're now here."
He looked to the side, an opening for an escape was secured. He looked at Ubis and made a dash for it while the other three joined them. It took a while until they finally made their way out of the area and hid in a cave.
Sunai watched as Garret spun his mace around before slamming the ground. Traces of mana and energy filled the group, replenishing their supply of magic and mana.
Ubis took in several breaths. "Who... who is that?" He asks, pointing at Allen.
"I believe that is whom they called Another." Sunai assumes.
"Yes, he saved us when we lost all hope." Garret answered. "We wouldn't be here if it wasn't for him."
Eabear sat down as she fixed the backpack she wore. Sunai looked at this.
"This, what do you have inside it?" Sunai asks Eabear.
"Friend~ He likes it cold so they used some ice magic to make him stay cold~" She answered.
Sunai looks quietly at her backpack.
"It's something, her forgetting someone made her do this." Garret explained. "It made her hurt more."
Allen didn't say anything.
"What should we do now?" Garret asked. "Everything's gone."
Allen looked at this scene. The look on their faces...
"...Don't give in..." He begins.
The group looked at him.
"You can't give in right now." Allen tells them. "Giving in especially at a time like this means that you're giving up on yourselves. I don't think even any of you want to do that..."
He puts a hand on his chest. "I don't like the idea of giving in to others a lot... it's a sign that usually says we've given up on ourselves..."
He looks over at the group. "I promise... I'm gonna get you guys out of this alive."
"Another..." Garret muttered.
"You are great friend~" Eabear sang as she held the backpack close.
"Yes... You... didn't even give up..." Ubis agrees.
Sunai was silent, but he nods.
"Alright then... Lead us the way." He tells Allen. Allen looks over at him for a while before he nods. "Alright... I will."
The group looked out of the cave as Garret spun his mace around. They looked as his magic ran around the ground.
"...A couple of SSS-Ranked Dulled are close." Garret analyzed. "Other than that, there are just filler Dulled."
"...You three, head over to this area." Allen tells the trio. "If those SSS-Rank... Dulled come over, we'll do our best to stop them."
"But..." Ubis says. "If either of you can't handle it, you'd..."
"We'll have to do it." Allen assures.
"...I trust Another's judgement on this." Sunai states. "You three, head over to where he tells you to go."
"Wait." Garret objected. "Just three? What about you!?"
"I'll work alongside Another to make certain that those SSS-Rank Dulleds don't get to you."
"You're important to us too." Garret expressed. "Our only hope that WINGS is still alive, we're just normal WINGS members."
"You don't realise, do you? WINGS is still alive even because of you three." Sunai tells them. "The worst we could afford is the complete annihilation of WINGS. And that must be avoided at all costs."
"...Friend l'Cie..." Eabear muttered. "Can't forget you too. It hurts more..."
"I believe... you'll all be alright. If you three continue to stick together, you'll be safe."
Allen looks over at Sunai and he turns to them with a nod. "Trust us on this."
"All of us will make it out alive." Garret looked at Sunai. "That also includes you."
"...We-"
There was a rumble.
"Those are those Dulled again. Fast approaching."
"...You three, move!" Allen shouts. "They could be after you!"
Sunai loads his bayonet. "I can slow them down."
Ubis looked concerned, turning over to Eabear and Garret.
"Go on ahead!" Allen tells them again.
"Be back there!" Garret screamed. "Don't you dare break your promises!"
"Please, do not leave!" Eabear begged.
"...Alright... Come back once you're done!" Ubis orders them.
The trio head off to the designated location, the duo who designated themselves for this duty prepared.
Sunai looked at Allen as he readied his bayonet and sighed. For all this time, he thought that forgetting the dead was for the best and thanked the Dynacrystal for making them do that. However, now that all he knew and loved were gone…
It left... such a hollow feeling he could never fill up.
But... this Dragonite who has appeared in such a sudden moment. There is no knowledge about him, not even such a splinter of other knowledge available other than his name and expertise in combat.
But... he knows. That Another knows. And knowing that... he can entrust the hopes of WINGS' survival onto this newcomer.
Sunai imagined the silhouettes that filled his entire life. He closed his eyes... and a single tear leaked out of them.
Reopening them, he aimed.
Allen looked as a Forsaken Behemoth King roared ferociously, immediately tearing out its "horn-sword" from its head.
He looked and evaded a slash while Sunai slid on the ground to evade the slash. Sunai flipped and fired while moving backward.
"Then there's... this!" Allen deflects a blow from one Raven-ous. The avian-like monster combats against him in their bout of aerial combat.
"Huph!" He dove down under the Raven-ous, whirling his lance as he immediately shoots up against it. "Pierce the skies!" He continued the whirling, pushing it high upwards.
Sunai swerved to the side as he opened fire with great precision and speed. The Forsaken Behemoth King slammed the ground and raptured the earth up. Sunai jumped around them while the Forsaken Behemoth King rushed at him on all fours before spinning around vertically like a buzzsaw. He rolled to the side and aimed his bayonet.
"There!" He aims at a spot and fires.
It hit the mark and the Forsaken Behemoth King roared and swiped its hand. Sunai spotted a magic circle, it just casted Meteor and swiped its sword sideways as meteors fell from the sky.
Sunai clicks his tongue and he dashed, the falling meteorites crashing down onto the battlefield while he manoeuvred about through the shower.
He swerved to evade a thrust while Allen flew around the battlefield as he looked at the Raven-ous following him.
"It's still as persistent as always..." Allen mutters to himself.
Another look and he quickly whirls to the side to evade wind in the form of large sickles directed at him.
He spun around and swiped the air with his halberd to dispel the attacks before charging in. He slammed the halberd while the Raven-ous blocked it with its wings. He then jumped upward and slammed the Dulled with his halberd from behind.
He did a second jab. "Fall down!" He shouts, making use of the Sky Rave he learnt.
The halberd glowed and with this slam, he forced a burst of force onto the Raven-ous's back.
He looked as it fired more wind blades at him.
He quickly shoots back and swings his weapon repeatedly to deflect the projectiles. He holds onto the halberd tightly as it glows again, but he draws it back.
He then manipulated the winds and created a shield when the Raven-ous charged in and slammed the shield. Allen gritted his teeth.
"Not... this time!"
Using his halberd, he thrusted it and rebounded the attack's damage output back to it. It sent the Raven-ous at the Forsaken Behemoth King.
"Sunai!" Allen calls out.
Sunai nodded and jumped out of the way as he charged a shot. The Forsaken Behemoth King was rammed in the stomach by the Raven-ous. Sunai aimed and exclaimed, "Final Testament!"
Clicking the trigger, he fires at a created sigil which then releases a hail of lasers that direct their ways towards the two beasts.
Sunai landed as the lasers created a large explosion.
Allen lands beside him. "Did... did that work?"
Sunai looked and shook his head. "...No."
They heard a roar. Both of them readied their weapons again as the Forsaken Behemoth King went out of the dust.
"It's still alive!" Allen exclaims.
Sunai gritted his teeth and flipped over the slice and Allen blocked the sawblade with his halberd.
"Ngh!" Allen grunts.
He flew back with several flips and traded blows with the Forsaken Behemoth King. Sunai looked above him.
"...There... I got it." He nods quietly to himself.
He fired at the Raven-ous that swooped down on him and flipped above it before an ice shot was embedded on the Dulled's back.
"...Alright..." he mutters to himself.
He looked at Allen and knew what should be done. He remembered what he told the recruits about the Dynacrystal's "gift".
He remembered the promise as he looked at the sawblade directed at him. He knew that he couldn't evade it this time.
He raised his bayonet and fired into the air before the sawblade tears into him, causing a loud shout which alerts Allen.
He looked in horror as Sunai was sent flying and crashed against a piece of rubble.
"Sunai!" He screams.
He flew down as the Raven-ous flew toward him. He readied his halberd but then saw ice erupt from the back. The Dulled roared as Allen found the perfect opportunity to destroy the Dulled. He swoops down and pierces through the Dulled with the ice made and dove toward where Sunai landed. He looked over Sunai, who lay amongst the rubble.
"Sunai!" He flies over but yelps as he narrowly evades the Forsaken Behemoth King.
He sneered, thrusted his halberd, and sent the Forsaken Behemoth King flying back. Sunai coughed out some blood as he held his stomach that had a deep wound on it.
"Sunai! Come on..." he looked at the wound. "..."
Sunai looked from behind. The Forsaken Behemoth King was standing up, it was still at half strength.
"...Behind you..." Sunai tells him.
Allen looked back and he hurled his halberd covered in powerful energy at the chest of the Forsaken Behemoth King. The halberd stabs through the chest, continuing its' way while pulling the body along.
Sunai raised his bayonet despite all the pain and blood he lost.
"I... got this..." he aimed. He pulled the trigger.
The released bullet shoots over and strikes the head of the Forsaken Behemoth King.
It pierced through it and fell onto its back. It let out a few more breaths before expiring. Allen motioned his hand and the halberd went out of its chest and returned back to its wielder's hand. He turned back to Sunai.
"S-Sunai..." he said remorsefully, the wound... it was no...
Sunai's eyes were getting heavy. He'll be forgotten, like the rest of the silhouettes in his mind.
"...You... aren't from around here, aren't you?"
Allen was shocked. "Hu-!"
Sunai coughed more. "...No... don't answer... But assure that... those three... are safe..."
Allen looked down. He was unable to save one more…
Sunai opens an eye at him. "...You only have three... minutes left... can you... make it?"
Allen wondered what he meant.
"...Get over to them... and... make certain... to save them..." Sunai continues.
His eyes were getting heavy. Allen's memories of him were disappearing.
The hope of... making sure WINGS live on... he... entrusts it to him.
The bayonet began to lose color when it fell to the ground. Allen looked at it.
Three minutes...
...He has to finish everything before that.
Nodding to Sunai's body, he unfurled his wings and took off. He needed to save them. The last of WINGS. He flew onward as he checked the time remaining.
Two minutes left...
He needed to get to them before time expired. He flew on and on, he spotted an army of Dulled surrounding a group of three, all paralyzed from despair with another person gone. He gritted his teeth and slammed his halberd at some to buy some time. His body was surrounded by something. Ten seconds left.
"What?" He looked at himself momentarily before he quickly flew towards them while slashing Dulled on his path.
Nine seconds, eight seconds, seven seconds...
He was losing much time. He let out a roar, causing the three to turn to him.
Six seconds, five seconds, four seconds...
He reached out a hand.
"You three!" He shouts.
Three...two...
They reached out for him… He was inches away from them.
One...
A flash appears in the air and from there, a hail of bullets rain down upon all of the Dulled there, impeding their movements at least or outright pulverizing them at best.
???
???
???
Allen opened his eyes and looked at a familiar room. This was his room.
What was he doing again... the mission... the mission!
He tries to get up but groans in pain.
"Easy, you got some wounds when you saved us, just rest."
He turned and looked over. His mouth gaped open and closed repeatedly.
"Y-you..." he begins.
Garret was replacing some bandages on his stomach as he looked back.
"Yeah...You kept your promise." He whispered. "...The other didn't."
Allen looks down in response. He lists his head. "Where's Eabear and Ubis?" He asks, taking a look around to see that they are the only two in here.
"They're resting in the other room." Garret answered. "Ubis looked shocked about seeing the hand."
"No, friend is friend, don't bury!" He heard Eabear scream.
"Eabear, you can't keep bringing a dismembered hand around to give people horrible impressions on you!" Ubis' voice shouts.
"No, don't want to let go!"
Allen and Garret could hear their consistent shouts with Eabear's ones growing more desperate.
"...She wanted to keep the memory she lost through that hand." Garret explained. "She kept that hand hidden in the bag and kept it to think that it was a friend."
Allen looked remorseful as the shouts continued until it suddenly ended with a pained shout from Ubis.
"...WINGS… is gone..." Garret grieved.
"...No, it isn't." Allen shakes his head.
"You three... you're part of WINGS, am I right to say that?"
"But...we lacked the leadership and skill they had. We're just rookies."
"No... regardless of your position, you're all still WINGS." Allen shakes his head, flinching from his wounds afterward, having to remind himself how much of a hard beating he took.
"Another..." Garret muttered.
Allen takes in a few breaths and manages a smile to Garret. "You guys are the hope that everyone... has entrusted to you."
"Hope..." Garret mumbles. "Alright. Is there...a possibility to save WINGS?"
Allen nods. "...So... have you taken a look around this place?"
"Okay, I want to know what to do next." Garret stood up and went out of the room, he paused as he left the door. "That Noivern… He wasn't waking up. I tried to remove the cause of his coma but doing so would kill him too. I am sorry, but I am not a skilled user in maintaining Shadow Arts."
"...Oh..." Allen held his arm.
"...Excuse me." Garret excused himself and left, Allen was left in his room now.
He looked down at himself... he was only able to save three from that world...
Better than nothing but...
It still hurts... a lot... to be unable to save lives...
He sat there in silence, unable to remember the l'Cie he was with.
