She didn't stood a chance.
Ayane was having lunch when Rise Kujikawa stormed to her classroom. She was menacing, eyes glaring daggers at Ayane. She swayed her head demandingly. A motion that told Ayane to come with her.
Ayane silently left the room. She heard whispers from her classmates as she left. In her mind, she wanted to know what Rise had to say to her.
The walk to the roof was eerily silent. Passersby were plenty, and all eyes were on them. It was a rare occurrence for the pop idol sensation to call a girl in such a way that gossip would no doubt be spreading around.
Finally at the rooftop, Rise walked to where a small platform was. Usually it would be the place for students to eat lunch, but today it was cleared out. Rise sat hurriedly, as she tapped the empty space beside her.
"Sit here," Rise said. "We have a lot to talk about."
Her demand was sudden and forceful. Ayane couldn't help but agree with her. With a short pause, she walked toward Rise before she sat where Rise wanted her.
"Now," Rise led. "Explain those hickeys."
"What?"
"Hickeys!" Rise screamed. Her hand pulled Ayane's collar to reveal a red mark on her neck. "Why does Senpai and you have the same kissy marks?"
"Um..." Ayane blushed, not sure how to inform Rise about it. "I... We kinda did the thing yesterday."
"The thing?"
"Yeah. Yu wanted to stop at the hickey thing, but I kinda wanted more." Ayane stuck her tongue out like a playful fox. "Um, Kujikawa-san, please keep it a secret, okay?"
"Like I can say this to anyone," Rise slumped. She was like a washed out boxer after a rough grudge match, with cold sweat dropping down her cheeks. Then, she turned to Ayane. "Senpai's secret is safe with me, but do be careful not to get found out yourself."
Rise thought about it for a second.
"On second thought, maybe covering it now would just draw suspicions. Your hickeys that is"
"I said to my classmates it were bug bites." Ayane beamed, before she turned her smile upside down. "Nobody except you realized and believed it was a hickey."
Rise wanted to say something rude, but Ayane didn't deserve her hate. Sighing, she held out her hand toward Ayane. "I'm Rise Kujikawa."
Toward the sudden introduction, Ayane had raised her brow.
Rise had mulled over her feelings yesterday. It allcame to one conclusion, just as she feared. If she couldn't antagonize her, she should befriend her.
"I don't fully support your relationship with Senpai just yet," Rise gave Ayane a warm smile. "But I just want you to know that I don't mind being friends. So let's, Matsunaga-san."
Ayane's eyes brightened, as if stars were inside them and they twinkled.
"Being friends with an idol! Never in my dreams had I expected this to happen!" Ayane readily accepted Rise's hands with both of hers. "I would love to be your friend too, Kujikawa-san!"
"That doesn't sound right," Rise mused. Then, she had a bright idea. "How about calling me Rise, and I'll call you Ayane. Sounds good?"
"Definitely! Thank you so much, Rise-chan!"
The peaceful atmosphere of the school had returned. The two newfound friends began talking about many things, mostly Yu, and they laughed at many things too. However, rumors about them began to spread about the school.
Rumors about Ayane had began to spread.
