"Just so you know," Ayane said amid the awkward silence. "I'm mad."
"I know."
"We spent an entire day of lovey-doveyness and it was pretty much wasted!"
"That was what you were mad about?"
"Also I dislike you a bit for buying that present without consulting me first." Ayane pouted as her cheek puffed. "We could've looked for something cheaper."
"About that," Yu took out a bag with the accessory inside it. "Open it."
What Ayane fished out of the bag was a set of heart-shaped pendant that was just like the expensive one, but without the gems and the soft-tune when they clicked together.
"That cost me about 500-yen," Yu laughed. "I'm sorry the pendant was so cheap. I'll buy you a better one next time."
Ayane looked at Yu and began flailing her arms at him. She ended her tantrum by burying her face inside his chest, and rested her whole body against Yu's.
"Stupid," Ayane grumbled. "Just you being here beside me, on Christmas Eve, was all I needed as a present."
With that, warmth seeped inside the room.
