Tracey and Heather were curious as to why Emelina's father went from being a Professional Boxer to a Marine. She talks about a bad day for her family. Set during early September of "Luz Belos".
If you have lost someone/were affected by 9/11, I recommend proceeding with caution. This is the closest to a Trigger Warning that I will ever give.
"History is so boring!" Heather said.
Tracey and Emily rolled their eyes as they walked out of the school. Luz looked offended.
"Excuse you, history is amazing!" Luz said.
"Luz, this is your first time learning about Human History, so here's what you need to know. We learn the same thing, every year." Heather said, "I can only hear about the colonization of the United States so much before I say fuck it and move to Canada."
"You wouldn't last a week in Canada." Tracey said, "Wait, aren't you banned from Canada?"
Heather looked annoyed.
"No, I'm not banned from Canada... Just the entire Provence of British Columbia." Heather said, "Regardless, I don't need to hear about how Europe went in and almost killed an entire race of people."
"How about we talk about something else?" Luz suggested.
"Great idea Princess. Let's talk about something cool, like boxing." Heather said.
"Hey, Em, wasn't your dad a champion boxer?" Tracey asked.
"Yeah. He won three championships."
"Didn't he become a Marine? Why did he stop Boxing?" Heather asked.
Emily stopped moving. This confused Heather and Tracey, even Luz was confused.
"My dad had a match in New York City. He arrived two days before. Him and my mom were going to visit my mom's sister for a few days afterwards." Emily said, "The day before his match... it happened."
"What happened?" Luz asked.
Tracey and Heather quickly began to understand what she was talking about. Luz, being a witch from another dimension, doesn't know about Human history, let alone THAT day.
"My aunt died." Emily said, "She simply went to work like she always did. I never got to meet her, yet, I can't help but miss her. My mom told me that she was her best friend, they would do everything together. I never got to meet her... all because of that fucking plane."
Heather and Tracey regret bringing the topic up.
"So, is that the reason he joined the Marines?" Tracey asked.
"That was only part of it. My dad told me, that it was because they made my mother cry." Emily said, "You know, the hotel they were at had a great view of Lower Manhattan... they were able to see the planes hit."
Emily quickly walked away. Tracey and Heather shared an uncomfortable look.
I was very hesitant to post this, for obvious reasons. Follow, Favorite, and Review for more.
