Boscha was in her current room, which is a simple guest room on the ground floor, doing what she seems to do every day... staring at the ceiling.
"I have looked at this ceiling so long that I have named every crack in it." She said, pointing at each small crack or chip in the paint, "That's Randy, that's John, that's Jeff and next to him is his brother Matt."
Boscha looked around.
"And I'm talking to myself." She said, "Alright, Owlbeast, I've gone insane, take me."
"Miss Melodramatic."
Boscha looked at the door.
"Willow! What are you doing here?"
"I can't come see my beautiful girlfriend?" Willow asked.
Boscha began to blush.
"I mean, I never said that." Boscha said.
Willow sat next to Boscha's bed and held her hand.
"How are you feeling?" Willow asked.
"About as good as I can." Boscha said, "I have a curse, I can't feel my legs, and I'm pretty sure my Mr. Stuffington is responding to me."
"That's... not good."
"Yeah, but other than that, I think I'm fine." Boscha looked at her teddy bear, "You stay out of this!"
Willow looked concerned.
"Boscha, can you please stop arguing with a stuffed bear?"
"He started it." Boscha pouted.
Willow looked at the bear.
"You know, your bear looks familiar."
Boscha had a small smile.
"Remember when we were seven and your dads took the two of us to a carnival?"
Willow began to remember that day. It was just the two of them and her dads. They didn't meet Gus until a few months later, Skara was at piano practice, and Luz was sick.
She was at a game with one of her dads while her other dad was with Boscha, who was getting her face painted. That's when Tiny Willow saw it.
"Papa, look!"
Willow pointed at a teddy bear.
"You want that?" Her dad asked.
Willow nodded her head and they walked over. Her dad paid and he got three balls to try and knock over a bottle, that were obviously glued to the self. Naturally, none of them fell.
"Well, looks like you failed." The Carny said, "Better luck next time, loser."
Willow got annoyed.
"Don't speak to my Papa that way!" Willow said.
"What are you going to do about it, brat?" He asked.
Willow's eyes started to glow and she summoned vines that wrapped around the game stand. Willow's dad looked surprised; Willow has never shown this level of magic before. The carny got scared.
"Here, take it, don't hurt me!" He said, tossing the bear at her.
Willow picked up the bear and smiled. They walked until they found Boscha.
"Willow, look, I'm a Taka!" Boscha said.
Boscha pointed at her face, which was covered in paint to make it look like dark green scales. Boscha put her hands against her neck to make it look like she had frills and started to hiss. Willow laughed at Boscha's impression of the large snake demon.
"Here." Willow said, handing the bear to Boscha, "This is for you."
"You got me a teddy bear?" Boscha asked, "Thank you."
The two friends hugged, which made the two dads smile.
"You know, I never forgot that day." Boscha said, "I think that was when I started to like you, I was young though, so I didn't understand until I was about twelve."
"I think it was the same with me. I saw it and wanted to give it to you, I didn't understand why until I was a teen." Willow said, grabbing Boscha's hand, "I can't wait until you start walking again, I have a big kiss waiting for you. In the meantime."
Willow kissed Boscha's cheek.
"I love you." Willow said.
"I love you, too." Boscha said.
