Erengurth/Luin-Erengurth: Holly of death/Blue holly of death (I used wikipedia)
Sorry for the ending, I suck at them…
Gandalf and Pippin stood over the ramparts looking at the army of Mordor waiting in front of the walls of Minas Tirith. The black horde of orcs swarmed around like rats. Siege weapons were being manned by trolls and fell beasts roamed the skies. The army of the White City was waiting for the attack to start. Many were thinking about their families and praying to whichever gods they believed in. The white wizard was deep in thought when the dark mass attacked. The siege towers smashed on the walls and the orcs came out, slaughtering soldiers as they went. Gandalf stood with the soldiers of Man, trying to keep the monsters at bay. His concentration, however, was broken when the lieutenants of Sauron appeared. The cries of their fell beasts brought dread in the hearts of the defenders. Gandalf turned and ran to confront the greatest of the nine, the Witch-king of Angmar. "I do not fear you, Mithrandir. Soon the time of the orcs will come and the races of men, elves and dwarves will fall. You are only lengthening their suffering." And with a swipe of his sword Gandalf's staff was cut in half. The fell presence of the Nazgul brought the wizard to his knees, the power of Sauron himself cursing through the evil king's veins.
That's when he saw him. Standing on the highest peak of Minas Thirith, just like he had once stood on top of Erebor all those years ago. He was wearing a worn travelling cloak over a fine looking robe, opened just below the waist. Unmoving he stood on the precipice in front of the White Tree, like a statue carved from sapphire. He was looking down at the battle before him. His eyes fell upon the former Grey wizard and on Sauron's general. When he spoke all the sounds of battle, from the clanging of swords to the clopping of hooves, stopped. His voice boomed across Minas Tirith and Pelennor all the way to Osgiliath. "Heed me and tremble, Servants of Sauron! I wield the voice of Eru Illuvitar and carry out the judgement of Mandros! You have no place on this plane! Begone! I banish you! Go back to whence you came! Back to your Master! Back to the abyss where you lied!" the voice of the Istari carried over the warriors of men like a breeze in the morning, while it crashed over the hordes of Mordor like an avalanche on a mountain. The Nazgul screeched in pain and loathing. They tried to overcome the power of the wizard's voice but they were too weak. The power of Mandros banished them, just like the power of Galadriel once banished Sauron at Dol Guldur. Soon the army of Mordor was routed from the White City through the combined efforts of its defenders, Rohan, and the army of the dead led by Aragorn.
The leaders met in the throne room. Theoden, Aragorn, Legolas, Gimli and Eomer stood there waiting for Gandalf to arrive. When the doors opened Gandalf and the blue clad wizard strode in the room until they reached the other occupants. The silence was broken when Aragorn spoke "Mithrandir, who is this man?"
"You may call me Erengurth, son of Arathorn. I am one of the two blue Istari that came to Middle Earth."
"Where were you, my friend? We thought you lost to Sauron years ago." The blue wizard sighed. His tired eyes looked around the room. "My brother and I were sent to the lands south of Gondor and near Mordor to fight the reach of Sauron there. We managed to keep his evil at bay for a while, but, when he came back at Dol Guldur we were nearly overwhelmed. These past few years we tried to do as much good as possible but…his corruption was too deep. My brother sacrificed himself to stop the warriors chasing us and gave me the chance to get here in time. Hmm…what irony…my brother…condemned by the Valar to be a servant of the thing he always loathed…and then dead in order to save me…me who was brought so much pain by him."
Theoden looked at Erengurth with a confused expression. "But wizard…why did you have to escape? I saw what you did to the Nazgul…"
"My powers come from Mandros' domain. The more death there is the stronger I become. Just like those abominations when they are near Sauron."
"Could you do it again?"
"No. I might be able to hold them off for some time but I wouldn't be able to banish them again."
Gandalf then spoke. "We must hasten then. Sauron is gathering his troops in Mordor, right between Frodo and Mount Doom."
"We are not enough Mithrandir…"
"The elf is right."
"Then we try to slow them down. Take his focus away from Orodruin and unto us."
"It's suicide!" shouted Theoden.
"Yes. But if it means giving Frodo a chance to destroy the Ring I will gladly give my life."
"Aye, as will I!"
"And I."
Theoden had to relent and accept that he was outnumbered. "If I must die then let me die in battle…"
Erengurth stood on the gates overlooking the procession of soldiers going into Mordor. They had decided that he would remain behind to bait the Nazgul. He knew he wouldn't be able to defeat them, or even banish them, but it was his mission as follower of Mandros to take care of wayward souls. Thus, when the procession ended, he took a horse and went to stand in the middle of Pelennor, as far away from the city as possible. He took the Palantir he had taken from Gandalf and concentrated on it. He saw Sauron's eye and His armies, he saw the fallen kings stir and turn to him, then he let the stone fall on the earth. He then took a bundle from the horse and sat to meditate.
Just when the army of men was approaching the black gates, the Nazgul flew away, towards Minas Tirith. The blue Istari felt them before he even saw them. Unravelling the bundle that he had placed in front of him, he took out a silver spear, made in Valinor with mithril and blessed with its magic. He radied himself in preparation for the confrontation. Suddenly he turned and stopped two blades from cutting him. Soon enough all the nine were reunited around him. Fell steel and silvery mithril clashed. The darkness of Sauron was strong, but so was the power of the one who carried out the judgement of Mandros. Erengurth fought the nine to a standstill, for even he couldn't stop them all, alone and drained of most of his magic. Yet he still stood, for he wanted revenge, revenge on Sauron, on Khamul the Nazgul who killed his brother, on the nine and on Saruman. Not even when he killed Riddle all those years ago did he feel this need for revenge. He felt his desire burst from his chest like the poison of the basilisk, destroying everything in its wake. Now empowered by righteous fury he charged at the fallen shades, giving them no time to reply. He fought and fought, even when his body was littered by cuts from the fell weapons and their poison in his veins. However, even then he couldn't stop hold them back indefinitely. When the Ring was finally destroyed he was held down, about to be killed, by the same Khamul whom he hated. Once he felt their master's power failing, Erengurth took his chance and stabbed the wraith in the chest, finally killing him…before succumbing himself to his wounds.
Later that year Minas Tirith was again the site of something great, the marriage of Aragorn, now king Elessar, and Arwen, daughter of Elrond. All the Fellowship was there, as were many of the leaders and heroes that fought in the last battle against Mordor. Unfortunately, Theoden had perished, killed while defending the future king's back from a troll. Erengurth and Mithrandir stood behind the Hobbits. They too cheered as the union was completed. "Are you going to sail back to Valinor my old friend?"
"Yes Mithrandir. There is nothing left here to do. Saruman betrayed us, Radagast lost his way, and my brother is dead, avenged but dead. There is nothing still keeping me here." They saluted the king and queen when they passed by. Soon came the time to go back to Valinor. Erengurth, Galadriel and Celembor stood next to ship waiting for Gandalf and the Hobbits. When they arrived, many tears were shed and goodbyes said. During the voyage Erengurth spent the time talking with Bilbo about his voyages in Harad and the nearby lands. After a while they arrived at the shores of Valinor, where Erengurth quietly eclipsed himself and descended into his master's domain, where his only family was waiting for him. He was finally home.
