Storys from the Boiling Isles
The stories and characters are not invented by me. In Germany there is this book series which is very famous there. I just wanted to retell these stories in the Owl House universe. As I said, the stories are not invented by me but I rewrote them a bit.
Episode 1: The Fiery Eye
Outside the town of Bonesborough there is a house known as Owl House. There lives the rebellious witch Edalyn with a human child and a cute little demon. But they are not the central role in this story. For this story, we have to look a little bit elsewhere in the forest. In the forest near the Owl House there is a junkyard, the Utility Center . There lives Totis Jones and Maria Jones with their two children Matt and Rob they are both blonde skinny boys, Matt is the tallest in the Family, with them lives another witch who is not related to him. His name is James, he is a dark-skinned boy who was taken in by the Jones at the age of 8. When James' parents died of an accident. James has been part of the family for a long time but even though James is already 15, he has never really processed the death of his parents. On the scrap yard is a house where the family lives. Totis often buys old goods from customers and resells them because he thinks you can still resell this old stuff. He also bought goods from Eda for a while. The three boys are currently on semester break in Hexside. Matt is in the construction class, Rob visits the Bard Coven. And James the Ilusions Coven.
The three boys are also known in Bonesborough as the Three Mysteries Trio. Together they solve mysteries and help many people with it. They are detectives. But they haven't had any cases for a long time now because they had to concentrate on school. James is quite good friends with Gus, over time the three have also become friends with Luz the human child. But now let's get to the story of this chapter of our three friends. The Jones family's scrap yard was very busy. Maria Jones gave the three boys quite a lot of work. The three were unloading a truck. Totis Jones had brought everything possible before his last shopping trip, including a number of plaster heads of famous persons.
Maria: Kids, the statues on the wagon, brings them all here and puts them on the table there in a row. This will be a nice exhibition.
James: Yes, Mom we're already doing it. Come, friends, we bring the statues to the table.
The three friends went to the statues and looked at them.
Matt: 13 pieces and already slightly dusty.
James pointed to the plaster busts
James: Look, Emperor Belos, Octavian, Bill Cipher, Coven Officer Jeff, Dante...
Matt: …Shakespor.
James: Yes, apparently these are all celebrities.
Rob: Augustus from Latissa. I've never heard of that guy.
Matt: Darius and Eberwolf are also here!
James: ...and Queen Butterfly! Quentin Trembley, Franklin and Lincoln. These are celebrities in the human world!
Rob: But there is no plaster bust of you, James, but you are also a celebrity.
James (laughing): But not so dusty yet! Let's go now, we have to unload the stuff.
A scroll was now ringing, but none of the three heard it. Because they were too busy to unload the stuff.
Matt: Pretty warm today!
James: That's right!
Matt: But what the heck, we need the snails.
Rob: It's worth it.
Matt: Jap.
Maria: James! For you! I think it's Gus Dad!
James: I'm coming!
James ran into the house and answered his call. After a few minutes he came back to his half-brothers.
Rob: Hey, James is already coming back.
Matt: And? What did want?
James: he says that Gus has made an inheritance. Unfortunately, he has no idea what the legacy might be and where it is. We are supposed to come to Gus home tomorrow at 10 o'clock. Then he will tell us everything.
Matt: Okay!
XXX
A day later, the three boys came to Gus. When it comes to a mystery, the three are always on time. So the three, Gus and , sat on a sofa in the living room.
Gus: I really hope you three can help me. I'm in trouble. My Grunkle Horatio Porter, died recently. His lawyer sent me a document from which I just don't get smart.
Perry: I have to admit that I don't feel any better. But my uncle apparently trusted Augustus to unriddle the message. Augustus show the three of them the riddle.
Gus: Sure! Here James!
James: Thanks, Gus. I'll read now. To Augustus Porter my great-nephew. August you are called, August makes you known and August is the guardian of your luck. Like a mountain, it piles up in front of you. Don't be scared by obstacles. Like a shadow, it lies over the hour of your birth. A beginning at the same time an end.
Rob: Man, that sounds complicated!
James: It's not over yet Rob. You have to do deep research. My words alone shall guide you. I do not dare to speak undisguised, so that others do not discover what is intended for you. It's my own. I acquired it and own it. But I never challenged his evil power. Now 50 years have passed. This half century should have brought about purification. However, it must not be stolen. It must be purchased, received as a gift or found. Therefore, go to work with caution. But use the time! This and all my affection are my legacy to you. Horatio Porter.
Rob: Phew, that was just wow.
Matt: It all seems confused to me. What does purification actually mean?
Rob: This means that one is cleansed of evil or sin.
Perry: Well, James, what do you think of it?
James: Hm, in some ways it's quite clear.
Matt: Clearly? Where is that quite clear?
James: First of all, it is clear that Horatio wanted communicate something to Gus, that no one else should understand. He hid it somewhere and it sounds like this happened 50 years ago. It's something valuable. So if he had described the hiding place to Gus without further ado, then a thief could steal the item. That is all quite clear.
Matt: Yes, that's nice. But the rest is as clear as toilet broth.
James: Some parts are quite clear, such as "August is the guardian of your luck". Hm, when do you have your birthday again, Gus?
Gus: In August. In two days its my birthday. That's why Dad gave me the name Augustus.
James: Two more days until your birthday. Time is running out because we have to solve the mystery by then.
Matt: If wehad two years that would be better.
Perry: Time will tell. But what do you understand by the sentence "It is my own. I acquired it and owned it, but I never challenged its evil power."
James: I think he is saying that this object, or whatever it is supposed to be, is his rightful property and he can transfer it to Gus. At the same time, however, he suggests that he fears it for a reason.
Rob: What kind of person was your Grunkle, Gus?
Gus: I don't know Rob. I never saw him. I only know that he lived in Latissa and died there. And that he has decreed that I should receive this document.
Perry: I got a lawyer the good old Wigg. But Gus really wanted to get you in, maybe that wasn't such a bad idea.
James: You won't regret it! Come, Gus, we're going to this .
Gus: Okay!
Perry: Good Luck, Boys!
And so the four of them made their way to . They have no idea yet what danger they will be in.

lives near the town centre in Bonesborough, close to the market. When the four stood in front of the lawyer's office, they saw that the door was only leaning.
Gus: The door is just leaning!
James: Yeah!
Wigg: Help!
The four witches ran into Mr. Wigg's office, they heard the cries for help but didn't immediately know where they were coming from.
Wigg: Help! Please help me!
Matt: It comes from there!
Wigg: Help! Help!
James: In the closet!
Rob: Open up, James!
James opened the closet and a frightened Mr. Wigg came out.
Gus: Wigg!
Wigg: Thanks to the Titan, that you four have come!
James: Strange, who locked you up here?
Wigg: Thank you very much! A few more minutes longer and I would have suffocated in the closet. But, who are you?
Gus: I'm Augustus Porter, we talked on the scroll because of the inheritance.
James: And we are the mystery trio!
Wigg: Mystery Trio?
Gus: Yes, they help me decipher this mysterious message from Grunkle Horatio.
James: What happened, ?
Wigg: Happened? Titan, too much! I have been attacked. Brutal, like in movies. My life was in danger, I don't know...
James: , who attacked you?
Mr. Wigg was now leafing through documents on his desk.
Wigg: My secret archive! This idiot ransacked my files! What is this? The stapler there on the table, I didn't put it there!
James: Calm down!
Wigg: The files of your great uncle, I was his legal advisor for 20 years. The letter! Its gone!
Gus: What kind of letter?
Wigg: This witch who knocked me down, took my copy with him. The copy of this testamentary communication from Horatio.
James: Please, tell us what happened!
Wigg: I was sitting here at my desk, then the door opened and a man with a black beard and sunglasses came in. He grabbed me and trapped me. If you had not freed me, I would have suffocated.
James: How long were you in the closet?
Wigg: Hours. Several hours.
Matt: Was Horatio rich?
Wigg: Rich? No, not really. I had to sell the furniture from his house to pay for the funeral from the proceeds.
James: And yet he must have left Gus something very valuable.
Wigg: That's right, young man. I don't know what it is, but Horatio once said to me, "Bruce, there are things about me that you better not know. Just remember one thing: If you ever meet a witch with three tattooed dots on his forehead in this area, look for yourself. It's about the Fiery Eye. It could be dangerous." He was a mysterious witch, the newspapers are right.
Rob: Newspapers?
Wigg: Yes, the Boiling Isles News. They have reported extensively on him. Also that he acquired his fortune partly in Spellstorm.
Gus: How do we find out what he meant by his words in the letter to me?
James: We first look at his house. Where is it?
Wigg: At noon canyon, near Titan's knee. But you won't find anything there. I already say that I sold everything that was in this house. Finally, these plaster busts went away.
James: Plaster busts? From famous people?
Wigg: Yes, that's right. I sold them at a junkyard.
James: we have to go now. I think I now know what the secret message means.
Wigg: You know?
James: Come, friends, we are in a hurry!
The four boys quickly left the office and ran towards the scrap yard. They still heard calling for them but they ignored it.
Wigg: But why? Boys, so hear!
XXX
In James head there has been an enlightenment. The boys walked back to the scrap yard through the forest they passed the Owl House.
Matt: Oh, James talk now!
James: It's about the Fiery Eye!
Rob: I don`t get it.
Matt: James, you found out what the secret message means, right?
Gus: Is that true?
James: I think I have. Do you remember the sentence in the letter that says "August is the guardian of your luck"?
Matt: And?
James: The plaster heads of famous people. Bill Cipher, Belos and so on. And then there was a head of an August. August from Latissa.
Gus: "August is the guardian of your luck". This is what my Grunkle wrote.
Matt: So you mean something is hidden in the plaster busts?
James: I'm quite sure. It all fits together exactly. Horatio has hidden something valuable that he bequeathed to Gus: The Fiery Eye. Where else should he have hidden it than in a plaster bust, which also bears the name August. Where the name August plays a big role in this mystery.
The four witches finally arrived at the scrap yard. The plaster busts stood in their usual place but...
Rob: The plaster busts are still there! Some are missing! Among them August of Latissa! He's gone!
Maria now came out of the house and saw the boys.
James: Mom! Where are the other plaster busts?
Maria: Where should they be? I sold them for 5 snails. People like to put something like that in the garden.
James: Did you write down the names and addresses of the buyers?
Maria: The names? Titans Sake, why should I do that? People bought their heads and left.
James: Can you tell me anything about the people? Especially about those who bought August from Latissa.
Maria: Why are you so interested? Sorry, I can't help you, I have to answer the call.
Maria went back to the house to talk on the scroll.
Matt: What now? If August guards the luck for Gus, whatever that may be, he will continue to guard it, but not for Gus.
Gus: At least you three tried. Your mother could not have known what these plaster heads mean to me.
James: Maybe we really can't find the heads anymore, but I'm not giving up yet. We are the Mystery Trio, we just have to continue with our investigation.
Rob: And how?
James: I'm still thinking about it.
Rob: I got it! We use the scroll avalanche!
Gus: Scroll avalanche? What is that?
Rob: Quite simply, think about it: Who pays the most attention to what is happening in a city? For example, when a neighbor faces a conspicuous plaster bust in a garden.
Gus: I don't know?
Matt: The children and teenagers, of course, they are everywhere and do not stand out, but they get everything that is going on.
Rob: There is simply one problem: how do you connect with as many children as possible throughout the city? Everyone is helpful, but if they don't know what we want, they can't help either.
Gus: How do you do that?
Rob: That's what the scroll avalanche is for. It was James' idea. Each of us has friends and they in turn have friends.
Matt: Yes. And if we want to find out something, each of us calls 5 friends and tells them what we want to know and they also call 5 friends.
Rob: And again. And so in a short time our question spreads throughout the city.
Gus: If each of you calls 5 friends, that's 15. And if each of them calls 5 again, that's already 75. And then 300 and something and then well over a thousand. Do you call with the scroll right now, James?
James: It's too early. Now most of the kids are still outside playing. We have to wait until after dinner.
Matt: James, what do you think is in the bust?
James: The lawyer said something of a fiery eye
Rob: But what is that?
James: It's small, otherwise it might not be stuck in a plaster bust. Considering the care with which Horatio has hidden it, combined with the fact that you only give names to very famous gemstones, think of the "Looking Glass Stones" or "Koh-i-Noor", then one must conclude that the Fiery Eye is a jewel.
Gus: A gemstone?
James: A gem that Horatio brought back from Spellstorm many years ago. And this stone was also the reason why Horatio later lived so mysterious.
Rob saw a customer go to the junkyard through the gate. And he had three points on his forehead.
Rob: Pssst, there comes a customer.
Matt: Oh my Titan!
Rob: I don't think I see right!
Gus: The man has 3 small dots on the forehead!
Rhandur: Please, excuse me. These interesting busts.
James: Yes, sir?
Rhandur: Do you have more of these figures?
James: More?
Rhandur: Yes, others. If so, then I would like to look at them. I want something very special, you know? Not exactly Emperor Belos or Queen Butterfly.
James: That's all. The others are sold.
Rhandur: Um, so there were more of them? And the names, boy?
James: Um, I don't know exactly, um, such weird names. Bill something like that and uh, uh, August from ..., oh, I forgot about it.
Rhandur: August? Yes, I think I would like the bust of August. For my garden. You say the bust is sold?
James: Yes, yesterday.
Rhandur: And the buyer? What's his name? I want to buy him the bust again.
James: We do not write down addresses. But sometimes people give things back. When the purchase is brought back, you can have it. Leave me your name and address there.
Rhandur: Good idea. Here, my card. I pay 100 snails.
James: I will call you.
Rhandur: Yes, you will. Wait, there's paper lying around here, I don't like that. I love cleanliness.
As soon as Rhandur said that, he took out a long pointed blade from his walking stick.
Gus: There's a blade in the stick!
Rhandur: Right! You will call me. Don't forget it, otherwise um... you four know what.
Rhandur put his blade back into his walking stick. And left.
Matt: Have you seen that? A blade is hidden in his walking stick! wanted to threaten us.
Rob: He showed us the blade hidden in the stick to tell us that he can get damn mad!
Matt: It's not to be joked with. I thought he wanted to stab you, James.
Gus: What's on the card, James? What is the name of the witch
James: Here it says: Rama Sidri Rhandur, Spellstorm.
Matt: Spellstorm?
Gus: I think I've seen this witch before. That was a long time ago. I remember a witch from Spellstorm visiting my father. I can also be wrong.
Rob: He has 3 points on his forehead. That could be a box sign.
James: He knew. Maybe he stole the copy from lawyer Wigg.
Gus: But he didn't wear sunglasses and a black beard.
Rob: He may have tasked others with raiding Mr. Wigg. In any case, he knew that August was about something special.
James: After all, I have his address. That is also on the card. He lives in a motel in Bonesborough.
Matt: I am in favour of dropping the case. Spellstorm! If Rhandur belongs to a sect of fanatics, it becomes dangerous. I once read about members of a tribal group who were looking for a lost relic. They just looked at you and then you already had a knife in your stomach.
James: So far, we can only guess such a thing. Rob, you are responsible for research.
Rob: Where should I investigate?
James: In the library. See you find out about the Fiery Eye. Also look under Spellstorm. You can ask Amity if there are any books about it.
Rob: Okay, see you later, friends!
Gus: So, I don't know. The matter is too dangerous. Matt is right. We should give up. I don't want you to risk your life for me.
Matt: That's an excellent idea, Gus.
Gus: Then I'd rather stay poor. I'm going to get through somehow.
James: We have only just started the investigation. We have a few facts to consider.
Matt: Facts? What are you talking about?
James: I suspect that Wigg has locked himself in the closet.
Gus: Self-locked? Why would he have done that?
James: I don't know, that's still unclear, like the whole case.
Matt: How do you come up with that, boss? Wigg was trapped.
James: Superficial evidence that should lead us astray. Think about it, Matt, use your mind! Wigg said he had been in the closet for hours.
Matt: Right.
James: What would a witch do in this situation?
Gus: Yes, he would first put the glasses back on or he would take them off and plug them in. But he wouldn't let it hang on his ear for 2 hours.
Matt: Hm, that could be.
James: Then there was something else. I noticed that the desk top in his office was cold, but the chair was warm.
Gus: He must have sat on it shortly before.
James: That's right, Gus. Wigg had seen us coming. He threw the chair over, crawled into the closet, hung his glasses on his ear and called for help.
Matt: But why would he have done that?
James: To deceive us. To make us know that the copy of the letter had been stolen. And that may not have been the case at all.
Matt: So you think the man with the sunglasses and the black beard didn't even exist?
James: Probably not. I think Rhandur from Spellstorm bought the copy of the letter from . Of course, Wigg was not allowed to sell and that's why he tried to deceive us.
Gus: That sounds logical, that would also explain why came here. He deciphered the meaning of the message, that he realized the meanings of the plaster figures.
The scroll rang again.
James: the scroll! Why doesn't Mom answer the call?
Matt: Maybe she doesn´t hear it.
James: I'll just answer the call.
James ran into the house to answer the scroll.
James: Hello, Yes?
Peterson: Hello? Here is Peterson . I'm sorry, but I have a complaint. Yesterday I bought 2 plaster busts as garden sculptures from your company.
James: Yes, please, Mrs. Peterson.
Peterson: Well, I have noticed that the busts do not tolerate moisture and of course that is not possible. After all, it rains from time to time. I want to return them.
James: We will refund the purchase price, Mrs. Peterson. May I ask which busts you bought?
Peterson: I don't know for sure. But I think one is August or Augustus anyway.
James: We're coming right away, Mrs. Peterson! Please, give me the exact address!
Rob returned surprisingly quickly from the library to the headquarters of the Mystery Trio. The headquarters was an old camping car, which is hidden under scrap in the scrap yard. The Mytsery Trio had already set it up inside, there was couch and a desk with a crystal ball to watch and talk to. When Rob came to the headquarters, he was excited. It was immediately obvious to him that he had succeeded. They were all sitting on the Couch.
Rob: Hello friends, here I am again!
At the headquarters, the three had a colorful bird in a cage as a pet. His name is Bounty. He chirped happily from time to time.
Matt: Hi Rob!
Rob: Listen, I wasn't the only one who wanted to read about the Fiery Eye.
Matt: Not the only one? Who else was in the library?
Gus: Blackbeard with sunglasses!
James: Have you seen him?
Rob: No, but Amity told me that he borrowed the book.
James: So he was there earlier than you?
Rob: Of course. He now has a head start over us.
Gus: Oh! Damn it!
Rob: That cannot be changed. Unfortunately
Gus: Rob, what about the Fiery Eye in the books?
Rob: Hm, I'll read you best what I have written down.
James: Okay, but only the most important thing.
Rob: That anyway. So listen. There are gemstones that seem to wreak havoc. One owner after another falls victim to death or illness, strokes of fate threaten, no one is safe from them.
Gus: Sounds bad. I don't want such a stone.
Matt: I can relate.
Rob: The Fiery Eye is one such example. Few who owned it escaped disaster. Until the stone was finally handed over by one witch to the Temple of Justice in the remote town of Spellstorm as a sign of leisure.
Gus: Like i said it, we should give up.
Rob: Um, the Temple of Justice is the sanctuary of a fanatical community of members of a warlike tribe. The jewel was placed in the forehead of the temple deity. Then comes a whole novel about everything that the stone can and cannot do.
James: We don't necessarily need to know that.
Rob: But here. Many years ago, the stone mysteriously disappeared. Where it is today is not known. Although the believers of the Temple of Justice are doing everything they can to bring it back into their possession. Rumors claim that a temple servant broke out the stone and sold it. Many suspect that the stone was buried with the mortal remains of the witch who bought it
James: Wrong!
Rob: According to an old legend, the Fiery Eye is said to be purified and no longer bring harm to anyone if it remained unseen and untouched for 50 years. However, it must be bought, found or gifted, it must not be stolen. These 50 years have soon passed. The risk of the curse, which is said to be the stone, even today hardly any collector would take on himself.
James: Interesting!

While James, Peter and Gus drove into the Abonimation truck to get the plaster busts of Mrs. Petersen, a medium-sized man with sunglasses and a beard appeared in the junkyard. Rob saw him coming. He froze. He knew immediately who he had in front of him.
Blackbeard: Good evening, are you Mrs. Jones?
Maria: Indeed i am young man. What can I do for you?
Blackbeard: I am interested in the plaster busts. Do you have more of it?
Maria: That's all and as garden decorations, I can't sell them to you either. They dissolve in the rain. That is why we have to take two back.
Blackbeard: Really?
Maria: Two come back. And maybe the others too.
Blackbeard: I collect such figures. I would like to buy the five from you and all those who are still coming back. Let's say for 5 snails?
Maria: Okay! But they could be damaged in case people tried to wash them off.
Blackbeard: That doesn't bother me. Here's 35 snails for those five and the other two.
Rob: But that's not possible.
The Abonimation truck now drove into the yard. The assistant Patrick drove the car.
Maria: Thank you, the busts are yours. There comes the truck with the other two busts.
Rob: But that's …
Maria: What is Rob? What are you fidgeting around?
Rob: I just mean Gus would like to have such a bust. When they are from his great-uncle.
Maria: Too late, everyone is sold.
James: We have them!
Blackbeard: These are my busts. Give it to me!
James: Never! Why?
Blackbeard: Because I bought them and paid for them.
Maria: James, whats wrong with you? The busts belong to him!
James: No!
Blackbeard: Give it to me!
Blackbeard tried to take the August bust from James but James fought back.
James: I won't give the bust!
The bust fell on the ground during the fight and broken James saw like a red stone out of the bust fell directly at the feet of Blackbeard.
Maria: Now you've thrown them down!
Blackbeard picked up the red stone and left.
Blackbeard: Thank you, that's enough.
Gus: The stone! He has the stone!
James: The stone is ours!
Blackbeard (laughing): Wrong! I just bought them.
Laughing, Blackbeard left the junkyard.
Matt: But, we must not let him go away so easily!
James: We have no other choice. What are we supposed to do.
Maria: Well, that is your fault.
James: Well, we should have told Mom something. Now it's too late. He has the Fiery Eye and he certainly won't give it back.
Gus and the Mystery Trio discussed what to do now. The boy was convinced that his inheritance was lost. In addition, the discomfort about the ominous stone became bigger. What was to be done? Was there still a way to save the Fiery Eye? Suddenly, an abonimation car appeared at the scrap yard. It stopped right in front of the 4 boys.
Rob: Titan, Threedots again!
Matt: I don't like that at all!
Rhandur: Good evening. I've looked at this one. There! These are obviously the remains of the bust of August. Uh, hadn't I asked to call me when they are returned?
James: Of course, but unfortunately it is now broken.
Rhandur: I would be extremely interested to know how this happened. I find this little cave here particularly revealing. There was something hidden in the bust.
James: A customer dropped the bust and it broke. He has picked something up from the ground. I don't know what it was.
Rhandur: This customer, was that a witch with big sunglasses and a black beard?
James: Yes.
Rhandur: And the thing he got out of the shards, did it look something like this?
Rhandur took out a red little gemstone from his pocket and showed it to the four boys.
Rob: The stone!
Rhandur: You've probably all heard of the Fiery Eye? And you know what terrible fate befalls its owner, huh? I want to show you something.
Rhandur again pulled the blade out of his walking stick, but this time the blade was not clean, blood stuck to the blade.
James: But at the blade is...
Rhandur: That was careless. I didn't clean the blade enough. Blood is not good for such fine steel. Well, yes. What do you think about how steel and the Fiery Eye get along? Let me see. I'm dropping the stone now. So. And now I'm giving him the steel.
Rhandur dropped the stone and carved his blade on the gemstone.
Rob: You damage the stone!
Rhandur: Take a look. That's really interesting. What do you see?
James: The ruby has a scratch. But rubies are harder than steel. Steel should not scratch the stone.
Rhandur: So you're not as stupid as you do.
James: The ruby was scratched because it is not real. It is an imitation.
Rhandur: Exactly. I took this replica from the Gentleman with the black beard. The real Fiery Eye should therefore still be found. Since it is hidden in a bust of August or Augustus, another August must be hidden in the figures.
Rob: Another August? No, definitely not.
Rhandur: I rely on you to find him. Call me when you find him. But I advise you, don't forget it again this time, or ... , think of Blackbeard.
Rhandur got into his Abonimation Car and drove away.
Matt: He killed Blackbeard and took the stone from him. He murdered in cold blood. How did he know so quickly that Blackbeard had the stone?
James: It is becoming more and more mysterious and intricate. Why does Horatio put the wrong ruby in the bust of August from Latissa? Has he been deceived? Didn't he realize that it was a wrong stone? Or is there still an August that we don't know about?
Rob: Of course, James, there is another one!
James: Really? Who?
Rob: It just occurred to me: Darius. He has birthday on an August. And I also know from Dad that Darius was called Augustus in Hexside. When Horatio wrote, "August is the guardian of your luck!" He certainly meant Darius.
James: We have to look for Darius!
The 4 boys retreated to the headquarters to discuss the case.
Matt: So, I think we should give up with the Fiery Eye. When it comes to murder, we must put an end to it.
Gus: Matt is right. I don't think I still want the Fiery Eye, even if we found it. I'd rather stay poor than live with such a monster.
James: We have not yet found the Fiery Eye. So we can't be in danger. Or at least not yet.
Matt: We should vote. I am in favour of us not working on the case any further. Anyone who agrees with this says yes.
Nobody says anything, all they hear is just the cheerful chirping of Bounty.
Matt: So, you Guys want to keep going?
James: Of course!
Matt: Well, then we should call the coven and report the murder of Blackbeard.
James: We have no evidence. And without evidence, we are not believed. First you have to find Blackbeard.
Matt: So, what do we do?
Rob: Scroll avalanche. We let the avalanche roll.
James: Okay.
Rob: We will surely find the bust of Darius with the avalanche.
James: Okay. We start immediately. Who wants first?
Matt: You can start, James.
James: All right, let's go.
The scroll avalanche rolled. James, Matt and Rob knew from experience, however, that results could not be expected until the next day. James and Matt decided to go to Horatio`s house in the noon canyon while Rob took over the scroll guard. Rob was waiting for calls when the scroll finally rang.
Rob: Well, so. Mystery Trio, Rob Jones who is there?
Jerbo: Hello?! Here is Jerbo, I have news for you. My sister bought a figure in the old goods store Jones, which is now in the garden.
Rob: What kind of one? Is it Darius?
Jerbo: No, not Darius. It's Eberwolf. Is that of any use to you?
Rob: Thank you, Jerbo. We are looking for Darius. But it was nice that you called. See ya later maybe.
Jerbo: You're welcome, see you at Skara's party tomorrow? Her parents are not at home.
Rob: Maybe, I'll call you. Bye.
Rob hung up, that was nothing he thought. He wrote while waiting all important details about the case "Fiery Eye" then the scroll rang again.
Rob: Oh! Mystery Trio, Rob Jones on the scroll.
Boscha: Mystery Trio? You are really a weirdo.
Rob: Oh, hey... Boscha
Boscha: Anyway you are interested in a bust of Darius, right?
Rob: Yes, that's exactly what we're looking for.
Boscha: My mother has them. She wanted to set them up in the garden. But now she thinks the thing would look quite strange. She says she would give it to a neighbor.
Rob: It must not, you must intervene. Jones attaches great importance to first-class customer service. We will come to you as soon as possible and give your mother the money back. I'll bring another bust, maybe she likes it better.
Boscha: Geez, alright, alright.
Rob: Please give me your address.
Boscha: Well listen and write it down!
Rob was waiting for James, Matt and Gus. But they didn't come. Therefore, Rob decided to get the Eberwolf bust alone. Maria allowed Rob to drive off with Patrick, one of the employees of the Jones company, in the small truck of the company. On the ride, Bob kept turning around. However, did not notice any pursuers in the extraordinarily dense traffic. They finally arrived.
Rob: Here it is, Patrick.
Patrick: It was also time. We have been on the road for an hour because of the traffic in Bonesborough because of that flying with the palismen is better. I take the Franklin bust that you want to offer the lady in exchange.
Rob: Thank you.
They both got out when Rob saw Boscha walking out of the house to them.
Boscha: There you are finally. With difficulty and hardship I was able to stop my mother from giving up Darius.
Rob: So you still have him?
Boscha: Yes, in the end I always get what I want.
Rob: Yeah...right.
They walked behind the house in the garden.
Boscha: Here, behind the house. Mom? This is one of the three guys from my school I told you about. He wants to secure the bust of Darius.
Nicole: Yes, this bust really does not do so well in the garden.
Rob: I am happy to take it back. Darius was sold by mistake, so to speak. If you'd like to have a different bust for that, you can have Franklin. That's him.
Nicole: No thanks, a human as a head would be even worse in my garden.
Rob: Then we will pay you the money back. Here are 5 snails.
Nicole: Thank you my dear, you can take Darius with you.
Rob: Can you wear both busts, Patrick?
Patrick: I have two hands, then I will be able to carry two busts. That's child's play. So, and what now?
Rob: We take out Darius and put it in the box. We also have to lace it up well.
Boscha: Tell me, Rob, are you coming to the party tomorrow?
Rob: Well, Patrick, be so nice, go ahead and pack Darius. I'll come right after.
Patrick: Of course, Rob.
Rob: So Boscha, yes probably I'll come tomorrow
Boscha: Really? You know I thought you were a weirdo because you are also friends with Luz and her gang. But you're kinda cute...
Patrick went back to the car and packed one of the two busts in a box. Then he waited. When Rob still didn't come after a few minutes, Patrick went into the garden and reminded him that Mrs. Jones had asked for a hurry. Rob said goodbye to Boscha and got into the car with Patrick and drove off. Neither Patrick nor he thought of looking backwards at the car. If they had done so, they would undoubtedly have noticed that the box with the bust had disappeared. Yes, the Blackbeard gang had been more attentive than Rob and Patrick. When they finally arrived back at the junkyard, Rob saw how the other guys were back.
Patrick: So, we made it!
Rob: James, Matt and Gus are already there! Well, they will make eyes. Thank you, Patrick!
Patrick: No problem, Rob.
Rob: I go get Darius from the loading area.
When Rob got out and wanted to get the Darius bust out of the loading area. Was the box gone.
Rob: No, no, that's not true! Such a bullshit! I don't believe it! No no no!
Patrick: Whats wrong, Bob?
Rob: The box is gone! Darius was stolen from us again!
James, Matt and Gus also came to Rob and Patrick.
James: Hey, Rob, what's going on?
Rob: I had Darius and now he's gone!
Patrick: I'm sorry, Rob. I didn't notice anything.
Rob: All right, you can't help it. I should have been careful. I should not have let Darius out of sight for a second. But I had to talk to this stupid Boscha. She had talked non-stop.
Patrick: Where should I put the other bust?
Rob: Put him on the bench.
Patrick: Okay.
Rob: It's Franklin. In case Boscha's mother wanted to exchange him for Darius. Tell me, James, where have you three been for so long?
James: At the house at noon canyon. We had an unpleasant encounter with the black beards.
Matt went to the benches with the busts and noticed something, when he noticed it he started laughing out loud.
Matt: Hey, come here!
Rob: Whats wrong, Matt?
Matt (laughing): Come here and tell me if I see right!
Gus: Man! That's not Franklin that's Darius!
Rob: What? That can`t be!
Gus: It's Darius! They stole the wrong bust from you!
Rob: Patrick has packed the wrong figure. I didn't pay attention to it anymore and 0 did the thieves. They took the one that was packed.
Matt: Children, that's the craziest thing I've ever experienced.
James: A hammer, Patrick, a hammer. We have to open Darius, then we hide the Fiery Eye in a safe place and no longer take any risks. Can you make a hammer with abonimation, Patrick?
Patrick: Hammer? Of course I can.
James: Thank you!
Matt: Look! Someone drilled a hole in the skull. A little filled in and the hole filled again with plaster. Now I am sure that we have the Fiery Eye.
Rob: Go, Patrick, strike!
Patrick hit the bust with his abonimation hammer and it breaks. A wooden box came out of his head.
Rob: There! There is a small wooden box!
Matt: I have it. Here James, you open them. You are the boss.
James: Thanks, Peter.
Matt: Open it, James! Show us the ruby that was hidden in it for 50 years.
Rob: Go for it!
Matt: What are you waiting for? Are you afraid of the curse?
James: No. The can just doesn't seem heavy enough to me. But I'll open it now.
Rob: What's in it? Now show us!
Gus: James, what is it?
James: A piece of paper. Nothing more than a piece of paper.
Matt: Yes, and what does it say?
James: Let me see. A message: You need to do more in-depth research. Use the time.

Gus and the Mystery Trio found no rest that night. Again and again they had to think about the mystery that surrounded the heritage of Horatio. What did his words mean? The next day they met again at the headquarters.
James: Let's read the letter, at least, again.
Matt: Good idea, Just. I don't remember exactly what it says.
James: August you are called, August makes you known and August is the guardian of your luck. Like a mountain, it piles up in front of you. Do not be frightened by obstacles. Like a shadow, it lies on the hour of your birth. A beginning and an end at the same time. You have to do profound research. My words alone shall be your guide.
Matt: So, I still can't do anything with it
James: Shouldn't I read on?
Gus: I do not know. If my great-uncle didn't mean a bust of August, what then? Of course, it's August now. And tomorrow is my birthday. On August 6th, in the afternoon at half past 3, I was born. That's what my father told me.
Matt: Maybe it has something to do with noon canyon. It's a weird name at all: noon canyon. Where does it actually come from?
James: I do not know. Bob, can you look about that?
Rob: With pleasure, wait! It should be in this lexicon. Um, um, here, there it is.
James: Well, read already!
Rob: Noon canyon: a remote, hard-to-reach canyon north of Bonesborough, probably so named because the pointed shadow of a mountain peak becomes visible in the valley around noon and then wanders in the plain like a hand of a sundial until the evening.
Gus: That's it! This is the key to the whole!
Matt: What kind of key?
James: That is what we needed!Tomorrow we drive to the canyon.
Matt: Oh, I don't understand anything
James: We take Patrick and Kenneth with us to be on the safe side. No one will dare to attack us if we have this bodyguard with us.
Matt: Talk, what are you up to?
James: So, friends, that's the whole point. The natural sundial at noon canyons. Gus, your great-uncle was convinced that you would solve the puzzle easily because you knew he had a hobby.
Gus: Yes, he collected watches and was interested in any kind of time counting.
James: That's why he assumed that you would notice the natural sundial.
Rob: The shadow of the mountain indicates on the lawn the place where the ruby is buried. You have to do profound research. Is this the solution?
James: Yes, I am convinced of that. As it says in the letter: Like a mountain, it piles up in front of you. Like a shadow, it lies over the hour of your birth.
Gus: So we have to record where the shadow is pointing tomorrow, August 6, at 3 o'clock in the afternoon.
Matt: August - Mountain - Shadow: Hour of Birth. We would almost have bumped our nose into it when you know that we are talking about the natural sundial.
Gus: In-depth research is also clear: we should dig.
James: So, friends, tomorrow we're going to noon canyon. We will keep our eyes open that no one follows us.

The mystery trio with Gus, Kenneth and Patrick left the next day in time, so that they could have been early at the house of Horatio in noon canyon. They made only slow progress in heavy traffic, so that they were only there shortly before half past 3. When they arrived, they saw the house being demolished by Construction Coven.
Gus: They tear down the house!
Matt: also said that the house will be demolished soon so that it can be built again soon.
Rob: The whole plot is levelled.
Matt: Oh, maybe they have already dug out the Fiery Eye.
Gus: I don't think so. Look, the shadow of the mountain is now over there on the lawn. They have not yet come to that.
Matt: Right!
Gus: There comes one of the construction workers.
Construction worker: Hey, you there! Make room with your abonimation car! Make room there! I have to get through it!
Patrick: Okay. Don't get upset!
Construction worker: What are you doing here? We don't need spectators!
James: Hm, my father bought the old furniture that was here in the house and he said maybe he had forgotten something. And we should look again.
Construction worker: There is nothing left in the house. Everything cleared out. So disappears. If something happens to you, no insurance pays.
James: Aren't we allowed to watch for a moment?
Construction worker: Stop now! Go away!
Rob: It's about time. It's half past 3.
Matt: If we miss the time, it's all over!
James: Surely they don't mind if we photograph the house from the lawn.
Construction worker: Hey, boy, where do you want to go?
James: Just a photo, sir! I'll be back immediately!
Construction worker: Oh, damn it!
Gus: What is he up to? Why does he want to photograph the house?
Matt: I don't know what he wants, but he certainly doesn't want to take pictures.
Rob: There, he's on the lawn now. The shadow is only 2 meters away from him. He photographs.
Matt: Now he puts the camera in the grass
Gus: He ties his shoelaces.
Rob: That was all?! He's coming back.
Gus: I don't understand. So what did James really do?
Patrick: I don`t know
Gus: He's coming. He will tell us already.
James: Go ahead, Patrick! We drive back to the city.

James remained silent about his plans. He only says that he wants to return to noon canyon after dark. As soon as he was back in the junkyard, he retired to his workshop. When it got dark, the Mystery Trio with Gus and Patrick set off again. James had a mysterious device with him.
James: So, we're here. Alight! I am sure that no one has followed us. Now we get the Fiery Eye.
Rob: I think you could gradually tell us how you want to do it.
Matt: Yeah, tell us now.
James (got out of the car.): Take the flashlights with you! We are alone. We have shaken off all sorts of pursuers and is at a disadvantage.
Gus: James, what kind of device do you have?
James: So, friends, this is a metal detector.
Matt: Metal detector? Why is that? A ruby is not made of metal.
James: No. But when I bent down this afternoon and tied my shoelaces, I put a silver coin in the lawn.
Gus: And you want to look for this coin now.
James: Exactly. Come on, I turn on the device. Here it has been.
Matt: So, I don't hear anything.
James: Oh, patience! It's not that fast.
Gus: It wasn't exactly half past 3, but a little earlier.
James: I could only determine the location approximately.
Cracking in the device.
Rob: Stop! I heard something!
James: Me too. Here I think it was. Friends, we found it. Here's the coin, you see!
Matt: And now we're digging. I'll get started.
Rob: Then go. I don't want to push myself forward in this work.
Matt: The floor is soft. It's easy. There, there's something! Wait, I've got that right away. A small box. Here, James, can you catch him?
James: I have it.
Gus: Come on!
James: I'm already at it. So!
The lid of the box squeaks, James took out a red stone, it was the Fiery Eye.
Matt: The Fiery Eye!
Gus: The Stone! Wohooo! Hot top!
Matt: We did it!
James: Pssst, have you gone mad? How can you make such a noise? Do you want to shout the black beards or the three dots here?
But it was too late, Rhandur was already gone to the four boys. And looked at the four menacingly.
Rhandur: No longer necessary. I'm already here.
James: Rhandur!
Rhandur: The Fiery Eye belongs to me. Give it to me! Running away makes no sense. My men have encircled you. Give me the stone! You have lost it for good.
James: Rhandur , are you from the Temple of Justice in Spellstorm?
Rhandur: That's right, young witchling. For 50 years we have been looking for the Fiery Eye. Now we have it and we will not go without it.
James: The Fiery Eye can be found, received as a gift or bought, but it must not be stolen, so it is handed down. So if you steal it, , then you will have to pay for it.
Rhandur: So, hm.
James: You know that word, Mr. Rhandur!
Rhandur: Yes, you're right. I dare not rob you of it. However, I can buy the Fiery Eye. Here's a check. I advise you to accept the offer.
James: May I see, Mr. Rhandur?
Rhandur: Sure.
James: Hm, here Gus this is meant for you.
Gus looked at the offer and made big eyes.
Gus: here take the stone, I can not resist this offer. Oh my Titan! So much Snails! I`m rich guys!
Rhandur: Thank you boy, it was foolish of me to believe that I could force you to give me the stone for free. Farewell Forever!
James: Farewell, !
Rhandur: I am happy that I have the stone.
James: We did it! We have it!
Gus: We are now going to Skara's huge party! When I tell Luz and Willow. Oh! they won't believe it!
