Genevieve was an expert at playing double-agent. She fed the witches some spells from Ester's grimoire that were relatively harmless. She told the Mikaelson's some little power plays that the witches were planning. It was nothing earth shattering. Elijah thought she was holding back, but he knew his brother Niklaus was falling hard for the lovely red-haired witch.

"Niklaus, where is the ledger with the...? Oh, pardon me, I didn't know you had company," Elijah said bursting in as Klaus was paining Genevieve early one morning. She was nude.

"It's fine, Elijah. You know for us witches, we are one with nature. Remember how we used to dance naked under the moon? Well, before all the witch hunters got onto us," Genevieve laughed.

"My dear, you are too cordial and forgiving by far. Excuse me while I assist my business-minded brother with his unceasing workload. Take a break, luv," Klaus said putting down his paint brush and kissing the tip of her nose.

Gen wrapped the bedsheet around her lush figure and began to prowl along the wall. She knew this compound was full of secrets, safes, tunnels, dungeons, and all manner of horrors. Yet, she found it intoxicating. She had always been the good witch her mother trained her to be, helping and obeying her elders. But now, she was a bad witch and she had never had so much fun. She took a drink from the bottle of champagne, guzzling it as some ran down her face.

"There you are, darling? Is my brother keeping you naked as his art model? As well as drunk on champagne?" Kol smirked. He came in through the balcony. Her sheet had slipped and her breasts were bared. He had seen them before but he wasn't complaining.

"Kol, what are you doing? Get out of here," Gen whispered back, covering her chest up protectively.

"I just came to see what was going on over here. You see, I've been wondering if you just used me the whole time we were 'friends

..." Kol inquired.

"Kol, I liked you. I still do. You know that. But with Niklaus, it is different. It is deeper. Tell me that you loved me and I will leave Niklaus and be done with it," Gen promised.

"Darling, don't lie to me. I've seen the way you look at him. You would never leave him, not on your own," Kol scoffed.

"What do you care? You never felt this way about me," Gen asked, but Kol had vamped out the balcony, Klaus came back in.

"Who were you talking to?" Klaus asked.

"No one. Shall I get back in bed?" Gen asked dropping the sheet.

"Oh yes, but I do not feel like painting anymore," Klaus said kissing her neck deeply. He drank from her and then kissed her until she forgot about Kol. To Klaus, she tasted like wine and flowers. It was intoxicating.

"Are you still vexed about Gen and Nik?" Rebekah asked, putting her book down on the table with a snap.

"No, not really. Are you?" Kol asked, turning the tables on his little sister. Was she spying on him again? It wouldn't surprise him.

She looked sad, "Kol, she barely talks to me and when she does it's 'Niklaus this, and Niklaus said that...' Am I being selfish?"

Kol thought a moment, "Maybe we both are. Nik is happy. We lost Gen, but when the hell has he been with a beau so long before? I guess we should just let them be happy. For once. Where is Marcellus?"

"At some dull meeting with Elijah. Nik was 'too busy' to go, so now Marcel is picking up the slack. He loves it, but we were supposed to go out tonight. You wouldn't want to escort me to the Hurricane Ball tonight? It's that charity for a new orphanage. I can't say if there will be any witches there, but I'm sure there will be a slew of human prey for you to sink your teeth into. Maybe a rich heiress or three?" Rebekah offered.

"Aye, dear Bex, I have nothing better to do then sit around this dull place. And you know how I love to help widows and orphans. I'll guess I should go shave and get my shoes shined," Kol said kissing Rebekah's hand.

"It's a date, then," Rebekah said.

Elijah was thinking about this morning, walking in on Genevieve and Niklaus. He didn't trust the witch, not one bit. She was pretending to be a traitor to her people, but he didn't buy it. She may not have been looking for Ester's grimoire, but she was looking for something. And Niklaus, he never trusted anyone, ever. Yet it seemed that he was smitten. And when this little firecracker broke his heart, Elijah would have to be the one to put him back together again.

"What's wrong, Uncle?" Marcel said under his breath. It was rare for Elijah to be the one to not be paying attention at a business affair.

Elijah took a deep breath, "It's your father. I just don't trust the witch. Marcellus, promise me that you will keep a close eye on her. There is something going on, I'm just not quite sure what."

"Really, but Gen seems so sweet to me. Rebekah vouched for her," Marcel confirmed.

"Yes, I hope that I am wrong. Do you not have that charity ball tonight? The hour grows late," Elijah said looking at his pocket watch.

"Oh, I told Rebekah to go without me. It's fine," Marcel admitted.

"Nonsense, you have been working overtime. This meeting is dull and going to stretch far too long into the night. You go and enjoy yourselves. I mean it, Marcel. I'm fine here," Elijah smiled.

"Alright, if you really don't mind. Fill me in later," Marcel said patting Elijah on the shoulder.

A few minutes after Marcel left, Elijah slipped out himself. He had a witch of his own to meet.

The party was in full swing. The music was loud, the food was extravagant, the clothing was over the top. Rebekah went to make her social rounds and Kol went to find a drink. He started with gin and hoped to move on to blood as the night wore on. However, they had to be careful not to be spotted, not to kill anyone, and to compel anyone they fed from. Kol ended up meeting a human dancer, whom he took quite a fancy to. He suspected she was a prostitute, but the mix of people was what he liked about New Orleans, it was never dull. Rebekah combed the crowd for someone interesting to talk to, and finding no one, she went to the courtyard.

It was deserted. The moon was waning and as the clouds swam across it, the night grew even darker. She pulled her shawl tighter around her. She was no longer alone.

"Hello, beautiful, what are you doing out here alone?" a tall man in a top hat purred.

"I'm getting some air and who might you be?" Rebekah snapped. She didn't like this man. She suddenly said the glint of a blade in his hand. She caught it mid-stroke before he sliced through the silk in her dress.

"What are you doing?" she compelled him.

"I am a killer of women, of men, of children. I go from town to town and I spare no one. I will never stop," the man said under compulsion.

Rebekah dug her teeth in him and drained him dry before realizing what she had done. She let his corpse drop. A woman came out and saw her, then another. They began to scream and she quickly snapped their necks in her panic. They dropped to the ground dead.

Marcel had been coming to find Rebekah. He saw the two ladies dead and vamped over to her.

"What are you doing?" Marcel asked in panic.

"He tried to stab me and they saw me drain him. Let's find Kol and get out of here," Rebekah said realizing she had blood on her dress.

"You go home, I'll find him and explain. You have blood on you," Marcel said.

"Oh no, okay. See you at home," Rebekah said vamping out.

Marcel found Kol drinking from the blond in a bedroom upstairs.

"Kol, I need to talk to you. There's been an incident," Marcel said in a hushed tone.

"Of course there has been, Marcellus. Fine, luv, you will not remember us or me drinking from you. A little bee sting you twice," Kol said pushing the woman away.

"A man tried to knife Rebekah. She drained him and then snapped the necks of two women who saw her," Marcel spewed out.

Just then, they heard screams with their supernatural hearing.

"We could devour the whole lot of them and then burn down the house? Nik and I used to pull that trick all the time," Kol offered.

"Are you serious? Stop being an ass. Let's get out of here before someone calls the Parish constable," Marcel said pulling his arm.

"Marcel, what are you afraid of? They won't know it was us. I am staying. I am an Original vampire. I fear no human or supernatural alike. You are free to run home to Papa. Oh wait, your Papa is screwing my old girlfriend. I'm sure he's probably out," Kol quipped looking for his drink.

"What did you say?" Marcel said in a rage. He launched himself at Kol attacking him and ripping his jacket.

"Marcel, this is comical. You know you cannot beat me in a fight and yet you try time after time. Are you trying to provoke me so I strike you and then you can tell on me? Again? You little pest," Kol laughed.

"Keep your voice down. Kol, you threw me over the balcony and broke it. What was I supposed to say?" Marcel growled. He turned around and threw a lantern hard at Kol catching him on fire when it smashed.

Kol was shocked as Marcel half burned his clothes off. This was going to be hard to explain. He got a blanket and smothered out the flames.

"You are in for it now! What the hell is wrong with you?" Kol said coming forward.

Klaus burst in to the smoke filled room.

"What in the devil are you two still doing here? Rebekah came home hysterical. Kol, are you on fire? Marcel? Come on, Kol, take my coat and let's get out of here," Klaus said throwing his coat over Kol's half burned clothes.

Kol was furious, that was his new suit.

"Where were you two? Kol, what happened?" Rebekah stammered.

"Ask your boyfriend? He tried to burn me alive," Kol said stalking out.

"Kol, please bathe, you smell like a torch," Klaus called after him.

By the time Elijah got home, Klaus had gotten Marcel's side of the story out of him. Rebekah had gone to bed.

"Let's talk about this upstairs. I'll call for some tea," Elijah said.

In the upstairs sitting room, Klaus called Kol in to sit with them. Marcel and Kol said as far away as possible from each other. Klaus and Elijah each took a couch.

"Kol, I don't see why you wouldn't leave when Marcel asked you, too," Elijah pressed.

"Elijah, I am sorry that I didn't get my knickers in a twist. I am a vampire, not a scared little girl. Marcel had no right to throw a bloody lantern at me. He burned up my new suit," Kol accused.

"Kol, so you didn't think you should go check on Rebekah or leave with Marcel. That's a bit selfish, no?" Elijah pressed.

"Elijah, did you not hear me? He bloody threw a lantern at me and caught me on fire. If you don't care about that, you can bugger off," Kol said stalking off.

Klaus had heard enough, he vamped over and grabbed his brother tightly by the arm.

"Brother, we are speaking to you. Marcel should not have burnt you with a lantern clearly. But I think it is disturbing to us all that you did not wish to leave the party when asked," Klaus asked tightly.

"I guess I'm a selfish bastard, huh, Nik, takes one to know one," Kol barked.

Klaus let him go suddenly, "I'm not sure I know what you are talking about, Kol, or why you are speaking to us this way. If this is about Genevieve, that is another conversation that we can have later. Right now, we are discussing why I had to come to a BLOODY MURDER SCENE TO RETRIEVE THE TWO OF YOU!" Klaus' eyes glowed yellow for a second.

"Brother,-" Elijah uttered helplessly.

"Papa, I-," Marcel started.

"Marcellus, I am not sure there are any words that can justify you throwing a lantern at your own uncle. I think both of you better get out of our sight. Now," Klaus snarled.

Looking at each other, Kol and Marcel exited the room silently. It wasn't until they were halfway down the hallway that Kol breathed, "I thought he was going to bite me for a second."

Marcel said quietly, "He wouldn't do that, Kol."

Kol patted Marcel on the arm and went right to his room and shut the door. Marcel went to his room where Rebekah was already waiting for him. She had heard the yelling and was upset.

Elijah poured Klaus a drink and just handed it to him. Klaus took a sip and then smashed the glass on the floor.

"Brother, what can we do with them? We have shouted at them, thrashed them, given in to them and still they behave in this way," Klaus thundered.

"Niklaus, what has gotten into you. They behaved much more poorly than this and you've never gotten so angry. What's going on?" Elijah asked gently.

"I didn't want to tell you until I was sure, but Gen asked me to go on an extended trip with her. We were supposed to meet tonight to talk about it and she never showed up. I'm worried, Elijah. You know what those French Quarter witches will do, if they are on to her," Klaus said now pacing.

"You were going to leave us?" Elijah said surprised.

"Not for long, brother. But yes, I cannot deny her anything, she's been talking about it for a while now," Klaus said.

"I'm sure you shall hear from her soon. I think I shall let those boys stew tonight. Are you alright?" Elijah asked concerned.

"Of course. I was out of line. I'll apologize in the morning. Marcel can buy Kol a new suit. That will cost him a pretty penny. And Kol, well, I do not know anymore," Klaus admitted.

"We'll figure out in the morning," Elijah promised.

"Nik, you got a package," Rebekah called from the compound door in the morning.

"Oh, I'm not expecting anything," Klaus said eyeing the basket as he walked into the courtyard.

"Want me to open it?" Rebekah said as she went to open it.

"Rebekah, don't!" Klaus said, but it was too late.

Genevieve's head rolled out. Rebekah screamed and Klaus just staggered to his knees.

Elijah came out and wondered what the hell he had done.
