Pairing: Marcel/Davina (M/f) spoon

And the wolf will dwell with the lamb,
And the leopard will lie down with the young goat,
And the calf and the young lion and the fatling together;
And a little boy will lead them.

Early morning

Rebekah left Davina for a moment to check in on Josh.

"Josh, you okay? You have everything you need? Another blanket?" Rebekah asked setting a bottle of water on the side of his bed.

Josh felt much better now that he had showered and washed off the vervain ointment.

"Well, I could use a couple pints of blood, but Marcel told me I have to wait until tomorrow morning. I hesitate to disobey him right now," Josh admitted sheepishly. "How's Davina?"

"Still sleeping, like you should be. He wasn't too hard on you?" Rebekah asked concerned.

"Well, ah, let's just say I'm really sorry about all this. And thanks for being so nice about it, letting me stay here. I'm not sure I could have driven home well, comfortably anyway," Josh said blushing.

Rebekah laughed and patted his shoulder. She was sure that Marcel had only been as hard as he had to be, but Josh looked worn out and his face was swollen from crying.

"You are a funny guy, Joshua. Sleep well," Rebekah said laughing to herself. She knew Marcel had a soft spot for Josh already. These days, the King of New Orleans, usually delegated unpleasant tasks to Diego to assign to underlings. Marcel hadn't invited any other vampires over night the whole time she'd be back together with him at the compound.

She went back and sat with Marcel on a small chaise sofa in Davina's room.

"How's Josh?" Marcel asked in a near whisper.

"Very repentant. He's a funny guy. I hope you look after him. He may be too gentle to live with the rest of the night walkers...a pure soul," Rebekah said softly.

"Hey, as long as he is loyal, I'll take good care of him. You know that. You are such a mama bear, you know that," Marcel said smiling.

"What's that look for? Marcel, what are you up to?" Rebekah wondered.

"Nothing. I better get some sleep if I'm going to deal with this little lady tomorrow. I guess I ought to come out and say it, you were right. I should have just punished her and cleared the air. Grounding her over the whole break was probably too much," Marcel admitted.

"Marcel, don't second guess yourself. I think we just left her without much to look forward to, she lost Kol, lost her devices, and lost her whole holiday break. Not that she should have snuck out, or drank, mind you...but I think we may have done some naughtier things in our day, hmm?" Rebekah smirked.

"Stop right there! We were perfect angels...And you know I like to blame 90% of the times I got into trouble on Kol, though, some of them were his fault. God, the two of them, Davina and Kol together... I mean if anyone can pacify him, it is Davina," Marcel whispered. "She does look like an actual angel when she is sleeping, huh?"

"Good night, luv," Rebekah said. She would sleep later.

Midmorning

Josh got up and found himself having breakfast with Rebekah and Davina. Apparently Marcel had left for a meeting already.

"Wow, pancakes? And beignets, nice," Josh commented, impressed by the spread. There was also a tray of fruit, toast, and breakfast rolls.

"I let you two sleep in so you could sleep it off," Rebekah said. She poured Josh some blood in a coffee mug.

"And thanks for the daylight ring! I don't know if I'm allowed to keep it, but it will at least allow me to get home without catching on fire. I'm guessing you made that before we went out yesterday?" Josh said to Davina. She had slipped it on his finger when she got up.

"Yeah, I did. There's no way I could have been one this morning. Ahhh, my head," Davina moaned. "I know I can make a remedy, but I don't have the energy."

"Here's some pain pills. Take them with water," Rebekah said handing her two pills and a glass of water.

"Thanks. Um, how much trouble am I in, Mom?" Davina said taking the pills.

"Um, a lot. We'll talk about it later. But the plus side is, I don't think you will be grounded anymore," Rebekah revealed.

"I know I should be happy, but I am nervous," Davina said biting her lip.

The wooden spoon was on the other counter now, just sitting there. She hoped it didn't stand out to Josh. Davina didn't notice how gingerly he first sat down.

"Hey, let's not think about it now. You can go back to bed after you eat," Rebekah promised.

Josh cringed, "Um Davina, I am really sorry about last night. I should have been the mature one and put my foot down."

"No, I wouldn't take no for an answer. I never should have held a daylight ring over your head. That's not how I'm supposed to use my magic and I don't know why I did those shots. They were so good at first, then they hit me hard," Davina groaned.

"Maybe the next time we go out, we can skip the sneaking out in the middle of the night while you are grounded and just like, I don't know, do coffee?" Josh asked.

"Yeah, that sounds better. Mom, can I have my phone back?" Davina begged.

"Not until after you get your punishment over with today. I mean, if you want, I can get started early," Rebekah offered lightly going to pick up the wooden spoon on the counter.

"No! No! Um, that's okay. I can wait. Josh, I'll see you later. I'm going to go take a shower," Davina said dragging herself upstairs.

"Text me when you can," Josh said.

"More pancakes, Josh?" Rebekah asked.

"No, thanks. I better head home with my new daylight ring. Hey, you were right, the blood really helped heal my other issues. Thanks, again and sorry for well, everything," Josh said nervously.

"It's fine, Joshua. We shall see you again soon," Rebekah finished. She was glad Davina had a nice friend nearer to her own age.

St. Anne's Church

Afternoon

Father Kieran spoke softly, "My niece said Klaus' son is on the run. Maybe coming to the bayou here? Looking for Guerrera...Does the kid have a death wish? No disrespect to your father, but the boy has no business here."

"Father K., the boy took off on a fool's mission. Believe me, I need to find him believe they do. But I'm going to need a favor from you," Marcel pleaded.

"Of course," Father Kieran agreed.

"We made a deal with the wolves to reverse the curse on the Crescents, but I can't find a witch strong enough, or brave enough to do the spell. If we can fulfill our promise to the Crescents, then they can help us with this Guerrera problem," Marcel reasoned.

"Yes, but Marcel, you had the Crescents cursed because they wouldn't fall into line. The factions need to know that all sides are respected and the vampires aren't dominating unfairly. You will need to loosen your grip on the quarter as a show of faith to the factions. They need to know that you are serious about trusting all of us to keep the peace, do this and I'll talk to the witches," Father K. agreed.

"Thank you, Father. It would mean a lot," Marcel revealed.

"But there is one little issue...there is a missing witch. A Treme witch that no one can find, there are rumor he was dating one of your night walkers. Sean has the details," Father Kieran intoned.

"And we need to help find this witch as a show of good faith," Marcel groaned.

"Yes, something like that. I'll get on your witch situation," Father promised wearily.

Marcel talked to Sean to find out more about this missing Treme witch. Since the disastrous relationship between Katie and Thierry, Marcel hadn't heard of any more witch/vamp relationships. If Marcel loosened his hold on the French Quarter, it would be harder for the vampires to defend, but Marcel had to do it if it would help get Erik back to them.

On Route

Erik wasn't really exactly sure where he was going, but he knew enough to get to I-85 South. Now that Erik was a vampire, he could compel drivers to take him places or even hand over their own vehicles. He only had a backpack full of a change of clothes, some food, a picture of Sadie and him, and a couple of blood bags. Erik had never feed off a live person before and he was afraid to. He wasn't sure how long the blood would be good for, but he didn't want to kill anyone by mistake.

"Hi Honey, you need a ride?" a lady with bleach blonde hair and an old Toyota asked him as he walked along the road.

"Yes, ma'am," Erik said.

"Where you headed? You look awfully young," the lady said looking concerned.

"You will take me to New Orleans. You will do exactly as I tell you. You will take care and not try to get help. Now drive," Erik said compelling her as he looked deeply into her eyes.

"I will take you to New Orleans...I will do exactly as you tell me," she repeated.

Erik leaned his head back to rest. He wondered if anyone knew he was gone or cared. His plan was to go back to the swamp where he used to stay with their kin and ask about the Guerreras. With his ability to compel, he might finally get the truth. With his hybrid nature, he could finally get revenge. He was hungry. Maybe he could get this lady to pour her blood in a cup for him. He could hear her heartbeat, it was getting louder and louder and harder to resist.

Mikaelson compound

Late Afternoon

"Good news! Father K. found a witch to lift the Crescent wolves curse. Bad news is that I have to find a Treme witch who went missing from the Quarter last night," Marcel frowned.

"What was a witch doing in the Quarter?" Rebekah scoffed.

"I guess having a time with one of the new night walkers, Diego is on the case now. Rebekah, I might have to go back out tonight depending on what he finds. We need to find Erik fast," Marcel admitted.

"I can go with you to the Bayou. I haven't said anything to Davina about Erik missing. I told her she wasn't getting her devices back until after you punished her. But it also crossed my mind that we might need her help. I'm assuming Freya has already done a locator spell by now," Rebekah offered.

"I'm sure. It's hard to pinpoint someone moving fast. Speaking of Davina, is she up in her room? I'd like to just get this over with," Marcel said.

"Yes, she's resting. I can't believe Erik would take off like that. Klaus is besides himself," Rebekah said sadly.

"You're telling me. I promised to bring him back safe and sound. It's not so easy to catch a hybrid who doesn't want to be caught," Marcel added.

"Don't forget this, you better give her a couple of good cracks from Freya. And Marcel, don't go easy on her. I told her she's not grounded anymore, but we can't have her pulling this again," Rebekah cautioned as she handed him Freya' spoon.

"I know," Marcel said hefting the spoon and going upstairs.

Davina's door was open. She was on her bed sketching in her notebook.

"How you feeling, D.?" Marcel said.

"Better now, thanks. Dadddy, really, the spoon?" Davina whined pushing herself up from the bed.

"I think you had a very firm warning yesterday, didn't you? We're not going to argue about this. Now put your drawing supplies away," Marcel ordered.

"Fine," Davina conceded, she got up and put her notebook and drawing pencils on her desk.

Marcel came closer and sat on the bed. Davina started to back away, Marcel caught her wrist and pulled her to stand in front of him.

"Why we doing this, little girl?" Marcel asked sternly.

Davina made a whining noise in her throat, all day she just wanted to get this over with, but now that it was here, she was panicking.

"I snuck out with Josh last night while I was grounded," she spat out.

"And, that wasn't all, was it?" Marcel prompted.

Davina was starting to tear up, "I did a bunch of shots and got drunk."

"That's very dangerous, D. It could have been some kind of drug or even a poison. You know the problems with the witches aren't 100% over. I know you are strong and powerful, but you are still just one little girl. And we don't want anything to happen to you," Marcel grunted.

"I'm not a little girl. I can take care of myself," Davina squeaked as Marcel suddenly upended her over his lap. He let her upper body rest against the bed and her legs hang over his knees and the edge of the bed. Davina suddenly felt like a very little girl. Marcel handed her a pillow to put under her head.

"Please, don't do this. I'm sorry!" she gulped.

"Believe me, I wish I didn't have to," Marcel quipped smacking her on the seat of her cotton pajama pants firmly. Smack!

The swat jolted Davina forward a little and Marcel tightened his grip on her waist with his left arm.

Smack! Smack! Smack! He cracked her again on the center of her backside right over both cheeks several more times, right in the same spot.

Davina squirmed as much as she could. She didn't recall Marcel swatting her this strongly the other times he spanked her.

Crack. Crack. Crack. Crack. She felt a series of smacks on the center of each cheek back and forth for several minutes. The heat was building up even over her pajama pants and she tried to wiggle out of the way. She folded up her legs to protect her now burning behind which only earned her a sharp smack on the thigh.

"Legs down!" Marcel snapped.

"It burns. Please, Dad. Enough, I learned my lesson," Davina said with tears dripping down her face.

"I don't think so, D.," Marcel said. He tightened his grip and began to swat harder and faster in a flurry of swats that left her sobbing into her elbow and kicking for all it was worth.

"Okay, okkaaay, I-I'm s-sorry," Davina wailed.

"This pants need to come down," Marcel informed her.

"No!" she sobbed. Marcel stood her up and her hands went to rub her stinging backside. But Marcel just yanked down her pajama pants. He left up her white cotton underwear. He could see the rosy hue of her bottom underneath.

"Just a little more, I love you, D. We love you. You can't be running around while you're grounded, drinking and being out all night," Marcel said. He put her back over his knee but locked his right leg over her legs. He picked up Freya's large wooden spoon with the flat round head and rubbed it over Davina's backside.

"No! NO! S-Sorry," she screamed. Marcel tapped the spoon on the center of her bottom before bringing it down with a snap.

Crack! Davina wailed and tried to kick but she was pinned.

Crack! Marcel swatted her left cheek.

Crack! Davina cried into the pillow that she grabbed to scream into.

Crack! Marcel smacked her on her bare sit spot firmly leaving a blotchy red mark.

Crack! He swatted her other sit spot hard and felt Davina give up her struggling and just sob into the pillow.

"All done. All forgiven, shhh, shh, calm down," Marcel soothed as he put the spoon down on the bed and rubbed her back. Marcel gave her a moment and then stood her up and carefully pulled her pants back up. Davina's face was a mess of tears and Marcel wiped it with his handkerchief and then pulled her onto his lap.

"H-how come you always have a h-handkerchief?" Davina asked softly.

"'Cause I'm old. We always keep one to give to a lady in distress. You, okay, baby girl? If it makes you feel better I was harder on Josh last night," Marcel smiled.

"What? You spanked Josh? But he's a vamp and old!" Davina said in shock.

"Honey, he's like a few years older than you and baby vamps need a firm hand. It probably won't be the last time either. Josh is part of the family now and needs to know that there are consequences to bad behavior," Marcel informed her.

"But he seemed fine at breakfast?" Davina said.

"He was, D. Just like you are going to be fine in a little while when the sting of the smacks from that spoon wear off. I probably should have just whacked you with it right after the cuff link incident, but I know you didn't have bad intentions. I guess I thought grounding you wasn't as bad, but maybe it was worse? So maybe some of this is on me?" Marcel admitted.

"No, Dad, stop it. This was all on me. Okay? Not you. I know you were trying to help, I just wouldn't listen," Davina cried throwing her arms around his neck. She did feel awful that he had tried so hard to spare her and she had done nothing but disobey.

Marcel blinked away tears himself, "It's all over now, D. Your mom said you made Josh a daylight ring. I'm going to let him keep it. I think Josh will be a good friend to you and we all could use good friends. But I do need you to be careful. A Treme witch was kidnapped and Father K. found a witch to lift the Crescent wolf curse. Things are going to opening up in the Quarter and it might not be as safe, okay?" Marcel said patting her back.

"Okay. I'll be careful. Do you need my help? I know I'm now a Bennett witch and the Ancestors here aren't crazy about me, but I'll try to help if I can," Davina offered.

"Just be careful and help your mom. I didn't want to tell you this earlier but my dad called and Erik ran away. There is a chance he is coming here. Something big is going down with the wolves and no one knows what is happening. We can't go home until we hunt down those Guerreras and I'm afraid Erik is going to try to get revenge. He could get himself killed," Marcel worried.

"Oh no, I hope Connor is okay. I know they, he and Erik, haven't been getting along. Are you sure I can't help?" Davina asked.

"Maybe, honey. I need to get back to work as long as you are okay," Marcel said lifting her to her feet.

"I'm fine. So not grounded anymore? Because maybe I should call Mystic Falls and check in with them?" Davina wondered.

"That's very sweet of you. I love you, Davina," Marcel said kissing her on the cheek.

"I love you, too, even though I hate that spoon," Davina smirked.

"I know. Behave yourself," Marcel said waving goodbye.

"Yeah, yeah," Davina smiled. She went to the mirror to check out the damage. A few red areas, but the burn had faded fast. If it wasn't for Freya's spoon, she'd probably be 100% fine right now.

Davina thought about Erik running away. Everything seemed fine on Christmas, or did it? Now that she thought back, Tyler seemed out of it, Jeremy was mad about his sister, Klaus was ecstatic about Cami, and Erik seemed remote, like distant. And Penny? She seemed off, too. But Davina thought it was just a part of them becoming hybrid. She was so wrapped up with Kol that she hadn't really noticed or cared about what else was going on. Maybe that was on her, too?

If Erik was missing, shouldn't she at least try to help? Connor was always nice to her and caring. She had to do something. It was the least she could do.
