Late Morning
Hayleydidn't know or care where she was going. Queen? She weren't no damn queen. She though maybe she could hitchhike down to Lake Charles. Some of the other girls were aiming to go work in the casinos down there. Who was she kidding? With her luck, she'd end up working in some disgusting chemical plant that just polluted the earth and gave you cancer.
What was that? Hayley heard something.
"I know you're there," Hayley growled, she pushed her long brown hair back and took a defensive stance. Hayley had taken off her shoes an hour ago, her feet were bloody from blisters and now bug bites. She knew she must look weak to this strange girl who appeared out of no where.
"You're hurt. Let me help you," a red haired girl said.
"You're not a wolf. If you were, I could smell it on you. What are you? Stay back. I am stronger than I look," Hayley threatened.
"I'm sure you are, but I can smell the blood on you. It's infected. You haven't been eating and sleeping enough for that to heal properly. We can help each other. Let me take the pain from you and a little of your magic," the girl said softly.
"Never! I don't trust anyone. Why would I trust some red-hair bitch? You're a vamp, aren't ya?" Hayley scowled. There was nothing wolves hated more than vamps, except maybe witches.
"Actually, I was born a witch. A special kind of witch. So special that I had to be locked away. Please, if you don't help me, I could die," the red head admitted.
"I told you once, witch-bitch. Back off!" Hayley shouted.
"I guess we do this the hard way," the girl said vamping to Hayley and sticking her teeth in her neck.
Hayley felt the infection from a wound she got in a fight heal and then as she passed out, she growled, "I'll kill you if I ever see you again, witch..."
"Yeah, witch-bitch, I heard ya, wolf. Have a nice forced nap!" the red hair said vamping off.
Hayley dreamt of a forest. She was looking at the moon and seeing the trees and plants lit up around her as if for the first time. She found herself drinking from a cool lake. She ran.
Behind her was her pack, she was no longer alone. They followed her, but there was someone ahead of her. A larger wolf. She ran after him, but everything she almost caught up, she was too slow.
Hayley knew if she gave up running, she would die.
Bayou near Mary's house
Tommy saw her first.
"It's a girl!" Tommy announced running over.
"No shit, Sherlock! You should go to college, you're so damn smart!" Ollie spat sarcastically.
"Ollie, see if anyone else is around," Jackson ordered to get him out of the way so he could examine the dark haired beauty.
Aiden moved Hayley's hair back, "Vamp bite."
"Miss, excuse me! Miss, wake up," Jackson said shaking Hayley's shoulders gently.
"We gotta get some help. She ain't waking up," Tommy reported.
"Let's take her to Mary. She'll know what to do," Jackson said. He gave Tommy his gun and picked up Hayley.
"As light as a feather," Jackson remarked, "Ollie, hurry up. We're heading home with her."
Mary heard the boys as she was hanging clothes on her makeshift clothesline.
"What in the devil do ya have there, boy?" Mary asked her grandson.
"A girl," Tommy replied, "she's unconscious. We found her on the ground."
"Oh my, come on, let's get her on the couch in here," Mary directed.
"Oliver, put the kettle on. Tommy, fetch me some clean towels. Jackson, get my medical kit," Mary ordered abruptly, she rolled up the sleeves of her plaid shirt. Hayley was on the old battered couch covered in afghans Mary crocheted herself. She looked pale and was breathing shallowly.
"Is she having a baby or something?" Oliver quipped.
Mary turned and looked up at the top of the frig where she kept the fly swatter. Oliver's eyes got big and he scurried to fill up the tea kettle. Aiden saw this and covered his mouth to not laugh aloud.
"Can I help, ma'am?" Aiden inquired when he recovered.
"I hate to ask, son, but would you run and go get Eve? She might know who this ones kin is. Thank you, Aiden," Mary said checking the bite on Hayley's neck.
"Why can't I go? I'm faster than him," Ollie whined.
"Oliver, I can't be worrying about you getting into some fight at camp. Now could you get her a glass of water for when she wakes up, please?" Mary said patting Hayley's cheek.
"If, she wakes up, more like," Oliver grumbled under his breath. Jackson and Tommy were back with the medical kit and towels.
"She's real pretty, ain't she?" Tommy gasped.
"Yes, she is, Tommy. But pretty don't always help in these parts, does it? A woman has got to be strong, too. I had a real pretty sister when I was a girl. My daddy thought the sun rose and set on her...," Mary recalled.
"What happened, Grandma? She die in battle?" Jackson asked.
"No, Jack. Her man did, though, and she just shriveled up like a spider lily cut from its stem. They said she died of a broken heart and just gave up. After that, Daddy died, too. Just went to bed and never woke up. Maybe that's the best we can hope for out here," Mary ruminated as she dug through her medical kit looking for smelling salts.
"That's not depressing," Oliver groused. Mary laughed at him in spite of herself.
"You're right, boy. I'm sorry. Y'all, things are going to be better. The curse is off you and the Guerreras put down. We'll get this girl going again and hopefully soon, we'll have some wolf pups around here like we've been missing," Mary declared. Pack numbers had been low as the curse curtailed the birth rates. As members of the Crescents died, they were not replaced.
Aiden came rushing in with Eve, Eve gushed, "Oh, thank God, she's okay. Modeste thought Andrea might be in trouble."
Mary blinked, "Andrea? You don't mean?"
"Grandma, Miss Eve? What is y'all talking about?" Oliver cut in impatiently.
Eve looked at Mary, who nodded her consent.
"I think she's Andrea Labonair. This is our queen, boys. Now which one of y'all is going to rise up and be the alpha," Eve spoke as Mary finally found the smelling salts.
"Where am I?" Hayley said in shock.
"Andrea? My name is Mary, I'm a Crescent, too. You're in my place. My boys found ya passed out in the trail. We think a vamp got ya. Do you remember?" Mary pressed.
"Oh, my head," Hayley said accepting a sip of water,"I had an infection and this red haired bitch caught me and somehow sucked it out of me. Then, she drank from me."
"You mean she siphoned you and then drank from you? Mary, we best contact Mr. Gerald. This isn't good," Eve trembled.
"What it is?" Jackson asked.
"A siphon witch who is also a vampire? A creature like this can drain every supernatural in the Bayou and then New Orleans only getting more and more powerful. Andrea, you are lucky to be alive," Mary stated.
"My name is Hayley. I told you, Eve. I'm not queen. Now if you will excuse me, I would like to be on my way. I'm getting a job in Lake Charles," Hayley said in a determined voice.
"You ain't going no where, missy. Now you sit down while we get you something to eat. You are in no condition to travel," Mary said plainly.
"Excuse me, I will go where I want! You are not my alpha, ma'am. Now kindly get the fuck out of my way," Hayley snapped. Hayley stood, but Mary stood in front of her blocking her way.
Mary turned to the boys, "Boys, y'all go back outside and tend to your chores. I'm going to have a little discussion here with our queen."
Jackson, Aiden, and Tommy immediately headed outside. Oliver slowly made his way to the door, he wanted to see this.
"Oliver, don't make me count to three!" Mary bellowed. Oliver finally scooted to the door and shut it behind him.
Eve went over and opened it, "I believe you was told to do your chores. Now go!"
Oliver walked back over to where Aiden started hanging up the wet laundry and said, "She gonna whup her where the sun don't shine!"
Jackson heaved, "Guys, I gotta do something to help that girl."
"Jack, just stay here or you'll be next," Aiden warned trying to hang up a wet sheet next. Jackson nodded but edged closer to the house.
"I said I was leaving," Hayley repeated.
As Mary grabbed Hayley and leaned her over her left hip a little, she retorted, "I heard you the first time."
Crack! Crack! Crack!
Hayley shouted, "What the fuck are you doing?"
Crack! Crack! Crack!
Mary's hand was as hard as wood against the seat of Hayley's jeans, but she could not break free of the older woman's firm hold. Hayley would learn not to disobey Mary the hard way. Mary was just going to give her a little reminder with her hand until she heard Andrea say, "Let me go, you old bitch or I'm gonna kill you."
Eve blanched as no one talked to Mary like that.
"Eve, be a doll and get the strap from the closet for me," Mary said calmly.
Eve got the piece of stiff leather and handed it to Mary.
Thwap!
Even through her jeans, Hayley felt the sting of the leather and screamed another litany of curses.
Thwap! Thwap! Thwap! Thwap!
The strap cracked down until Hayley stopped shouting and settled down enough to promise not run off into the swamp.
Then, Mary sat down and put Andrea over her knee and gave her the spanking she was originally going to get for disrespecting her elders and cursing. To Andrea/Hayley, she first felt shock until the stinging pain set in. Then, she began to fight and kick until Eve had to hold her hands and Mary looped her right leg over Hayley's legs.
Crack! Crack! Crack! Crack!
Each swat was hard and fast and soon Hayley's resolve broke, but Mary kept going.
The boys heard Hayley's hollering from outside. Ollie was just glad it wasn't him.
Jackson couldn't believe what his grandmother was doing. He crept to the window and peered into watch. Sure enough, Mary had the girl jack knifed over her knee and was paddling her soundly as she kicked and squealed. Jackson knew he shouldn't be watching, but he couldn't tear his eyes away.
It never crossed his mind to try to stop Mary when she made up her mind to spank someone, even God himself could not stop her. Jackson squeezed his eyes shut, he had to try. He trudged to the screen door and opened it, but Mary had already stopped the vigorous spanking.
Jackson saw Mary patting Hayley and whispering soothing words to her as she hiccuped. Eve was covering her with a quilt and wiping her face. It was too late for Jackson to save her, but it was not too late for Jackson to get busted. Mary saw him and gestured for him to skedaddle. Oh lord, as sure as shit, he was gonna be next.
But Jackson didn't care, for he was in love.
The Compound, New Orleans

Late morning
Davina was still sleeping. Marcel came in and sat by her bed feeling guilt ridden. He had not been able to avoid hearing her cries when Rebekah finished with Davina last night after he left the room. The Compound was much older than the mansion in Mystic Falls and the rooms were not sound proofed at all. Marcel hated that they had to resort to spanking her again. He was hoping that Cami could help talk to Davina and maybe them and get to the core of some of the issues they were having.
Marcel had just gotten the information that there was a siphon hybrid on the loose in the Bayou. That was never good news. A part of Marcel even doubted the veracity of the reports. In his 200 years, he had never actually seen a real siphon. The only one he'd heard of had been sacrificed by his own coven before Marcel could intercede. As with Davina, the witch he had tried to save had been a child.
Looking at Davina sleep, Marcel felt the same feeling of failure he felt every time they'd had to punish her. His own feelings of resentment from the times Klaus or Elijah had finally snapped and put him over their knee haunted him now. Marcel flushed thinking of how many times he had pouted and given his papa the silent treatment for spanking him. Marcel glanced around, sometimes in this very room. How many times had he turned his back on Klaus when he tried to comfort him or exaggerated the sting in his rear. As a human, they had not been too hard on him and as a young vampire, he healed fast. Yet, he had carried on like a actor hoping for an award in hopes of making papa feel bad.
"Daddy, what are you thinking about?" Davina whispered.
"Just how lovely you are. Happy Day After New Year's, D.," Marcel said leaning over to kiss her forehead.
"You're lying! What were you thinking about? You had this funny expression on your face?" Davina insisted.
"You got me. I was feeling like a failure as a parent because we spanked you and I was remembering what a brat I was with my dad. You might not believe this, but Niklaus Mikaelson, used to spoil me rotten and hated to punish me, even though I always deserved it," Marcel grinned sheepishly.
"Nah, I believe it. He was like that with Penny. But there is no way you could have been that bad, like as bad as Penny bad," Davina swore.
"No way...I was ten times worse! You don't believe me, Kol will tell you everything, no, on second thought, do not ask Kol. There were a few times we were partners in crime, though, especially with pranks...," Marcel smiled remembering some of their antics.
"Like what? Tell me one," Davina begged.
"Just one, okay. Elijah used to make me practice the piano until I got all my lessons right and I got so tired of it, sometimes I would have to play hours a day when all I wanted to do was ride my pony. I wanted a little revenge so Kol and I went to work. We put a thin piece of paper between the hammers and the strings to create an odd sound with the piano. When Elijah asked what the weird sound was, we pretended like we didn't hear anything strange. Kol compelled all the servants and even the tailor to say they didn't hear anything odd. The paper was almost clear so when Elijah inspected the piano, he didn't see it at first. But when he figured it out, he was not happy," Marcel grinned.
"I always wanted to play the piano. Would you teach me? I swear I won't do any pranks on you," Davina promised.
"Of course, the old piano is still in the parlor. We can start whenever you want to. But you're going to have to practice if you want to get any good. Elijah was right about that, although I didn't want to hear it when I was ten, Marcel said.
"Yes, sir. Tomorrow it is. Can Josh come over today?" Davina asked.
"I might need Josh to go to the Bayou pretty soon. Actually, there's a little witch thing going on. Did you ever hear of a siphon witch being born in your coven?" Marcel asked carefully.
"Oh no, we weren't allowed to speak of things such as that, openly. A siphon was considered an abomination that must be destroyed for the good of all. They told us that it was the will of the Ancestors. No witch who was a parasite should be allowed to live on the magic of others," Davina revealed.
"How's your neck?" Marcel asked.
Davina felt for the bite mark, it was gone.
"I hate to tell you, D., but they think the siphon is also a vampire," Marcel said.
"Dana? Is she the one? It would make sense... The red head with the big...um, chest. I knew there was something funny about her!" Davina scoffed.
"But honey, that girl is still in Mystic Falls. If Dana is in Virginia, then who the hell is in the Bayou?" Marcel said.
Davina sat up, "Dad! The coven that had the greatest incidences of siphon witches were..."
Marcel finished, "Geminis"
Davina got up suddenly, "They're twins!"
