Night

They burned Modeste's corpse at dusk. It was a somber ceremony in the Bayou. Josh came to represent the vampires. He saw Aiden and his family crowded around Oliver near the boat where they would send off the young wolf into the swamp for the last time. In the wolf tradition, there was a funeral after with music, drinking, bonfires and food, but it was subdued. Another wolf was gone at the hands of a vampire. The wolves were simmering with rage. Josh did not feel entirely safe here.

"Hey, you made it," Aiden said with a shy smile.

"Yeah, I'm so sorry. This is just, like tragic. Everyone's real upset. It was a terrible accident," Josh explained.

"Accident? That's not how a lot of wolves see it. Some are talking about breaking the treaty if Marcel doesn't hand over that hybrid witch," Aiden said as they walked away from the party down to the edge of the swamp.

"Aiden, that's crazy talk. Dana is under the protection of the Mikaelsons now. To get to her, they would have to go through Marcel and then the Hybrid himself. He could wipe out this entire camp in like five minutes," Josh mused.

"Yeah, I know. I'm just telling you how people are talking. And Josh, I keep thinking, what if it was Tommy she drained. Or even Ollie? Jackson? Me? God, you have no idea how bad I sometimes want out of this swamp!" Aiden whispered.

"Really? Oh Aiden, I'll take you today, but you're so young," Josh said clutching onto his arm.

"Josh, I'm going to be old enough soon. I can't leave my brother, but this isn't the life for me. Face it, I never fit in here. I am not sure I can leave Jack, but I have to, to keep Tommy safe. This swamp is a battlefield," Aiden replied.

"I wish I could stay longer, but I have to get to this old ass warehouse at the docks. That's where the Guerrera's vault is. The witch Dana thinks he brother is in an ascendent and trapped in a prison world. If they don't get him out tonight. All the Geminis will die," Josh explained.

"Oh, wow. That's intense. I wish you could stay. I can't wait for the day I can go with you back to the city," Aiden replied.

Josh hugged Aiden and Aiden rested his head on Josh's shoulder for a long moment.

Josh and Aiden both heard a struggle and then, "Ollie, come back! Please!"

They ran over to where Jackson was wiping blood off his face. Hayley was right by his side helping him up.

Jackson spit blood out and said, "I tried to stop him, but he hit me."

Josh balked, "Ollie? Jack, where did he go?"

Jackson paled, "He said he went to kill the witch vamp hybrid who killed Modeste. He loved her."

"We have to stop him. He's going to get himself killed. He said he's going to the Mikaelson Compound first!" Hayley growled.

Josh and Aiden looked at each other. Ollie must have been listening to their conversation.

Josh sighed, "He's not going to the city, he's heading to the docks. We need to get their first."

Mikaelson Compound

Dana raged at Kol, "You said you could save her! You're a fucking liar. Why? Why?"

Kol took pity on the young hybrid. They were about to leave for the warehouse, but Dana couldn't get it together.

"I'm sorry, luv. I thought we could. Sometimes it's too late, I guess. I wasn't lying. I've seen vampire blood almost bring the dead back. It could have maybe worked, if she became a hybrid," Kol pleaded. Dana was eaten up by grief, Kol put his arm around her as she cried softly into his chest.

Davina walked in to see if they were ready.

"Kol, I-," Davina faltered. Kol didn't break the embrace, he held up a finger to Davina.

"Never mind, I can see you're busy!" Davina remarked coldly. She turned and stalked out of the room running into Rebekah.

"What's wrong, luv?" Rebekah asked holding her by the shoulders.

"Nothing! Just leave me alone," Davina gulped.

"Shh, come in here. Watch the attitude and tell me what's wrong so I can help," Rebekah said pulling her into her bedroom.

"It's nothing. It's just, Kol is comforting Dana an awful lot," Davina blurted.

Rebekah frowned, "He feels bad because he couldn't save Modeste. It has nothing to do with the siphon hybrid, okay?"

That made sense. Davina wiped her tears.

"Okay. Thanks. I feel better. Now let's go do this," Davina smiled.

"Are you sure you're up to it?" Rebekah asked.

"Yes, really, I am. Mom, I swear, I'm good," Davina promised.

Rebekah gave her a long look and said, "Okay, as long as you're sure."

Warehouse District

Time was running short. Marcel had his guys out searching the warehouses all day for the specific one that had the vault in it. Diego's crew had found it right at dusk.

"That's why you're my top guy, Diego," Marcel grinned.

"Or why I used to be, huh? I know you sent Josh out to represent you in the Bayou. That used to be my job," Diego replied.

"Diego, you hate the wolves. You can barely stomach them, I thought you would be happy that Josh was taking that duty. I'm sorry, man," Marcel said pounding him on the back.

"Nah, you're right. I hate the smell of dog," Diego growled.

"Hey, watch the lip!" Marcel snarled as Klaus, Freya, and Kol stepped out of an SUV into the dock.

"Any luck, Son?" Klaus asked.

"Yeah, Diego's crew found the vault. Why don't you get the siphon witch and we'll do this now?" Marcel stated looking around. This place was mostly deserted and it creeped him out.

"I'm here," Dana said from behind Marcel.

The witches gathered near the tomb to start their preparations. Kol paced to make sure no one was near. But a few minutes later, he heard a ruckus.

"You son of a bitch, where is she?" Oliver shouted in a drunken rage. He had been drinking shine since he'd found out about Modeste.

Kol laughed, "Are you drunk? You must be bloody drunk to be out here by yourself. What are you 12?"

"Fuck you, vamp. I'm looking for the witch who killed Modeste, she was a nice girl, she had no one and was just trying to be happy. She was my friend!" Oliver screamed.

"Modeste, eh? Aye, that was a tragedy. Look, be a good lad and bugger off. I don't want to have to hurt you, but we're kind of busy here," Kol roared.

"Lead me to the witch so I can rip her head off," Oliver screamed back.

Kol grabbed him by the collar and was able to slam him against a wall when Marcel appeared.

"Kol, he's a kid. Leave him alone!" Marcel ordered.

Kol realized that the drunk wolf really was young.

"Subdue him or shut him up, Marcellus. We can't have him ruining the bloody spell," Kol spat.

Jackson, Josh, Hayley, and Aiden came running up to the dock.

"Marcel, I've been trying to call you, but I had no service," Josh said.

"Oh year, I've been here all day. Can you take Ollie home before he gets himself killed?" Marcel said sternly.

"Yes, sir. Sorry, he's overcome with grief and drunk as a skunk," Jackson said taking Ollie by the arm.

"Screw you, Jackson. You have a girl. Modeste was m-mine, or gonna be mind. Now, I got nothing and that witch bitch got to pay!" Ollie said sharply.

"She attacked me, too, Jack. Maybe Ollie's right that the vamps should hand her over. Isn't there any justice for the wolves in this town?" Hayley pressed.

"What is the meaning of this? We are trying to keep a bloody low profile and all of you are causing a scene!" Klaus thundered.

"Who the hell are you?" Hayley huffed looking Klaus up and look in a scathing review. The man's blond hair, blue-green eyes, and refined accent didn't quite belong out here in the warehouse district. She could tell he was a wolf, but something more.

"I am Klaus Mikaelson. Most creatures instinctively fear me, but not you, aye? No, I smell your fierceness and your lust for revenge. Who might you be, little wolf?" Klaus said smiling. This one had fire. Her brown eyes were shooting daggers at him.

"I'm Hayley Marshall. Your siphon witch attacked me and killed our friend, Modeste. We want revenge!" Hayley growled.

Jackson said, "Hayley, we came to get Ollie, not start shit! Come on, y'all, we need to get back."

Marcel turned, "Did you say Hayley Marshall? Of the Crescent Wolves?"

"Yeah, what's it to you?" Hayley snapped addressing the handsome vampire. Marcel vamped forward to look her over. He had a kindness in his chocolate brown eyes that contrasted to the look in the blond one.

"You should address my son with some respect, he is the King of New Orleans and he saved your life," Klaus said pointedly.

Marcel glared at Klaus, "She doesn't need to know all that. She was just a baby, Papa."

"Tell me," Hayley begged, "I need to know."

"Look, you guys go back to the Bayou and I promised I'll sent for you or come out and find you, but you gotta go now. Also, take Ollie with you and hands off the siphon witch, she's under our protection now," Marcel said smoothly.

"You promise?" Hayley asked.

"Yes, I do. Andrea, I do," Marcel said with meaning. Marcel nodded at Kol and he grabbed Ollie and compelled him to go back to the Bayou with his friends.

Hearing her birth name, Hayley knew Marcel was legit. She directed Jackson and Aiden to grab Ollie and they left.

Klaus watched her go, "She's an alpha, that one. Did you see how they followed her?"

Marcel had, "Yes, Papa. We better get back down there. Kol, call us if you need anymore help doing your job."

"Piss off, Marcellus!" Kol swore.

Klaus was annoyed, "Kol, please. Just watch the damn dock."

"I'm not your bitch, Nik. Maybe you could just sod off, too," Kol retaliated.

"Kol, do not move from this spot or we'll have a long talk tonight when we get home. Am I clear, little Brother?" Klaus warned.

"Yes, fine," Kol spat in anger. "But tell Marcellus that, too! It's not bloody fair..."

Klaus' eye turned yellow a brief moment and he disappeared back into the vault. He loved his brother, but he knew that when he started acting up, he didn't stop without a swift intervention.

Freya, Dana, and Davina did the spell and used Bonnie's blood to "trick" the vault into opening as only a Bennet witch could do so. There were many dusty boxes and crates in the vault, Marcel left Diego and his guys to go through it all and see if they could find the cure. The ascendant was easier to find as it was in a clear case out in the open. Getting Kai out of the prison world, would be the trick.

After the lunar eclipse, the three witches said the spell and for a few moments nothing happened. Then, a cloud of dust descended. Seven figures began to emerge.

Kai was dazed but saw his sister and tackled her.

"Stay down," Kai whispered.

"Who are you lot?" Klaus bellowed to the figures standing in the shadows.

"No one you need be concerned with. Let us go and we'll trouble you no more," a middle aged red head said.

"Brother, be careful. Let them go!" Freya shouted. She cast a boundary spell around her siblings and Marcel. Some of Diego's guys weren't so lucky, they were drained and killed on the spot.

Kai breathed, "They are heretics! Kill them or let them go. They will drain all of you, if you don't."

Freya tried to imprison them in a boundary spell, but one reached out and siphoned her. Josh vamped up and pushed the vampire siphon witch out of the way. The six figures vamped off leaving three dead vampires and an unconscious Freya.

"Kai, you're alive!" Dana wept. Unlike his red-headed sisters, Kai had dark brown hair and blue-grey eyes. He had a handsome and boyish face with a hint of mischief in it.

"Yes, where are these people? I would say thank you, but you just let out six more hybrid siphons. These aren't only siphons, but rippers! The stronger the being who hunts them, the more they siphon and the stronger they become," Kai explained.

"No matter, you are safe now. I'm Klaus, this is my brother Kol, and my son Marcel. Rebekah is my other sister. Is Freya awake?" Klaus muttered.

Freya was stirring, "Who were they?"

Kai quipped, "No worries, they are headed to some one horse town in Virginia called Mystic Falls. You'll never see them again."

"Kai, that's where they live. Mystic Falls. That's where Rachael is!" Dana exclaimed.

"Oh my god, we have to stop them!" Kai groaned getting up.

"Why were they with you in 1994? They looked like they were in old clothes!" Rebekah asked.

"1994? I wish. I was in the 1903 prison world with Lily Salvatore and her merry band of psycho rippers. That was fun, but really, folks, thanks for getting me out of there. Now can we get the hell out of here!" Kai rambled.

"Young man, you're a bit insolent for one who just tumbled out of an ascendent. How about you tell us how those freaks got out with you?" Klaus questioned.

"Look, I have no idea. All I know is that my sister Jo is going to be looking for me to imprison me until we are 23. She can't be allow to find me and tamper with the merge or the Geminis are screwed. Now, can we please get the hell out of here? Also, can I get some fast food?" Kai begged.

Klaus exhaled,"Fine, let's go. Marcel, sorry about your men. Let's get back to the Compound."

Dana grabbed Kai by the arm and whispered, "I didn't think I'd see you again. Mom and Dad sold me to werewolves...they turned me into a vamp. I turned Rachael. We won't let Jo find you. These people will keep you safe. All you need to do is behave yourself and not piss them off."

"Me, piss off someone? Ha, that's rich. As long as they don't keep me locked up, I'm gone. Say, is there a bar around here? I could use a drink," Kai mumbled.

"Kai, hi. I'm Freya. Don't worry, we'll explain everything from our end when we get back to Mystic Falls. We have a private jet on standby," Freya said.

"Great, is there a mini-bar on the plane?" Kai laughed.

"Yes, of course, but you won't be touching any of it. We'll get you something to eat, though. You can take a shower and then we need to leave," Freya informed him.

"Whatever! Who is the brunette witch over there?" Kai said spotting Davina as he and Dana broke away from the rest of the group.

"Ugh, she's a hag. Just keep your distance. Mean as shit. Some kind of harvest witch, thinks she's a big shot," Dana grumbled.

"These are the Original vampires, aren't they? I thought they were only legends and here you are with them, Sister. You have a lot to reveal, I'd say. I don't know how you did it, but you did. Thank you. That prison world was boring and those heretics were as dull as dishwasher. That Lily tried to play mummy to us all, it was bizarre.

"Forget about them now, Kai, you are free," Dana smiled.

"Yeah, free," Kai echoed following her into the SUV.

St. Anne's Church

Cami hugged her uncle goodbye.

"Well, I'm glad I got to see you even if it was for a short visit," Cami enthused.

"Me, too, Camille. Are you sure you are okay? If anything ever happened to you...," Father Kieran said softly.

"I'm great. Klaus has been busy while he's been here, so I've done some site seeing on my own. I can see why you all love the city, but that Bourbon street, that's just gross. Anyway, I just got a text that we are flying back now.

"Camille, I want you to wear this necklace. Can you do that for me?" Father Kieran said slipping a crucifix around her neck.

"It has vervain in it, doesn't it?" Cami laughed.

"Of course! I've known Marcel forever and I trust him, but humans have a way of dying around vampires. Just promise me that you will be extra careful lately," Father K. warned.

"I will," Cami said. "Love you."

"Me, too. May God bless you!" Father Kieran said praying over her.

Cami laughed and turned away. She knew Klaus would never let anything happen to her.

Mikaelson Compound

"Damn, check out this place," Kai whistled.

Dana kicked him, "Shut up. Act cool. Take a shower and let's get out of here."

"As you say, boss! Go find me some booze when I'm in the shower," Kai ordered.

"My kind of lad," Kol said to Dana as Kai left the room, "Are you alright?"

"Yeah, thanks. I'm great. Just tired is all," Dana smiled.

"Good. We'll be ready to go in a few. Get your things together," Kol added.

Klaus had pulled Kol aside and warned him that he was to be on his best behavior. He still needed to make up with his girl and sadly, Marcel.

Kol found Davina on her balcony.

"Darling," he said quietly.

"Am I your darling? Or do you have another?" Davina asked sharply.

"Davina, don't. I have to leave. You know, there is no one else. There will be no one else until the end of time for me. Please, don't be angry with me, I can't bear it," Kol implored.

"I'm not mad, Kol. Not at you, I just don't trust that bitch around you. And now I have to worry about her sketchy siphon brother being around you. I don't trust these people. I feel like I won't see you for months," Davina revealed.

"Something always comes up, luv. We'll see each other. Until then, have fun with Josh. I need to find Marcellus and make up with him or Nik will clobber me," Kol admitted.

"I don't like it when you fight with him," Davina shared.

"Then, I won't do it. We've been arguing for 200 years. He usually wins anyhow," Kol said drawing her into an embrace.

"When two idiots argue, 'darling', there is no winner," Davina retorted.

"Too clever, my love. I have to go," Kol said kissing her on the lips. He felt like his heart was ripping into two pieces.

Kol vamped away. How many more times could he be torn away from her? It was grueling.

"Kol," Marcel said as Kol came out of Davina's bedroom.

"I was just saying goodbye, Marcellus," Kol declared.

"I know. Look, I don't want to fight...," Marcel stressed.

"Did Papa threaten to stripe your arse, too, if we didn't settle this?" Kol asked.

"Yeah, but Kol, I mean it, I don't want to fight anymore. If I said anything, or implied anything where I was out of line, I am sorry," Marcel said sincerely.

"There you go, Marcellus, you once again have bested me as the better man. Congratulations," Kol avowed.

"Kol, shut the hell up and be serious for two minutes. I know I sometimes have been an ass towards you and taken advantage of certain situations so they come out in my favor. But that's not always fair to you. I shouldn't do that," Marcel claimed.

Kol sometimes didn't know how to respond without sarcasm to his family.

"I'm sorry, too. You know I'm no saint, Marcel. But I love Davina and would never hurt her, I hope you know that," Kol finally said.

"I told her about how we pranked Elijah on the piano that time!" Marcel laughed.

"That was a good one. We really got him that time. You didn't tell her what he did when he found out!" Kol squirmed. The real story had ended with both of them bent over the piano bench getting thrashed with a stick with their pants down. Elijah didn't have much of a sense of humor when it came to pranks.

"Hell no, I left that part out. We good?" Marcel asked holding out his hand.

"Aye, mate. We're good," Kol said going to shake his hand and then hugging Marcel.

Rebekah came in and saw them embracing. Her eyes filled with tears and she quietly stepped away. For two hundred years she had watched them fight and bicker, but she knew they loved each other. It just wasn't very often they showed it. She loved living here with Marcel and Davina, Marcel was in his element as the King of New Orleans. Yet, she missed her family. Even with their arguing, she knew that deep down they would all do anything for each other. Always and forever.

Morning

"Grandma, you get some sleep. I'll sit with him," Jackson told Mary the morning after the scene at the warehouse.

"He was crying in his sleep. So much loss. It's too much, Jack. Maybe those vamps should pay, but we can't afford another war," Mary said.

"I know, Gran. I'll look after him," Jackson promised.

Asleep, Oliver looked so young and innocent. He moaned and turned in his sleep. Jackson had some water and aspirin ready for him because he knew that bayou rum and swamp shine could leave a man with a mighty headache. Jackson didn't think they would have been able to get Ollie home without the vampire compelling him. Jackson told everyone to make sure they didn't let that information out. Just like drinking vampire blood, letting a vampire compel you, was anathema to a wolf. Asking a vampire for help, just plain went against their pride.

"Jack, whatcha doing?" Ollie asked in the near dark of the dawn.

"Watching your fool ass," Jackson smiled.

"Is she really dead?" Oliver croaked.

"Yeah, brother, but we'll get through this. Getting yourself killed ain't gonna make it better," Jackson said sternly.

"We need our revenge, though. Right, Jack?" Ollie asked hopefully.

"Wrong, Oliver. Marcel is coming to tell Hayley about her family. We had to make a deal. Plus, the Originals would have killed us all for threatening them. I know you are grieving, but you are lucky you don't get the switch for decking me and taking off like that," Jackson said sternly.

"Go ahead and whup me," Oliver said,"But I shouldn't have hit you."

"Ollie, you were real drunk and in pain. I can't whoop you for that, buddy," Jackson said patting his arm.

Oliver broke out into painful sobs.

"I should have been there that night at the camp. I musta just left when she was attacked. Was that witch just waiting for me to leave? It's my fault, Jack. All my fault," Ollie cried.

"No, it ain't. Ollie, I'm real sorry about this. But don't you go off again against the vamps, you hear? Or you really will get a good ass beating, not only from Mary, but from me. Do you understand? You almost got yourself killed?" Jackson implored.

Ollie nodded, wiping away his tears.

"I would do it again. Not because you're threatening me, you hit like a girl, but because I don't want to get y'all killed," Ollie insisted.

Hayley came out to the couch, "Why hits like a girl?"

Ollie groaned, "Jackie, here! Hayley, I'm sure you could pound him in a fight. Actually, that would take my mind off of Modeste of you two would wrestle."

Jackson and Hayley laughed. They would keep a close eye on Ollie. Hayley was hopeful to get answers about her family from Marcel soon. Once again, vampires were involved with wolf affairs, that was never good.
