Louisiana Bayou
3:30pm
The boys trudged off the bus tired and still slightly sore from their morning. They knew if it weren't for their healing, they would be in much worse shape. Jackson and Ollie knew they could take another licking from Mary, if she decided to dish one out, but they were worried about Aiden. He had been quiet and morose on the bus ride home. He tried to put a brave front on for Tommy, but it fell flat.
"Hey Tommy, why don't you go check the traps now?" Jackson suggested before the other three boys walked in. He figured Aiden didn't want Tommy to see him get switched, if that was to be their fate.
"Be back in a while," Tommy said slowly.
"Be careful," Ollie replied.
Mary opened the door. As soon as she saw the pitiful look on Aiden's face, she opened her arms to him.
"Oh honey, it's okay," Mary crooned as Aiden hugged her and sobbed into her shoulder. Physically, he was fine, but emotionally he was a mess.
"I'm sorry, Grandma. It w-was a-awful," Aiden cried harder.
"I know. Don Landry called me after," Mary said trying to comfort Aiden.
"Who?" Ollie said.
"Coach Landry. The man who whacked you good this morning? He was Jack's daddy's friend," Mary prompted.
"Oh, yes, ma'am. What'd he say?" Jackson asked getting them a cold drink old of the old-fashioned refrigerator.
"We had a good laugh about Mr. Aiden here wearing four pairs of underpants. He told me y'all had to get that paper signed or you'd be due another paddlin', and he wants you boys to join the football team," Mary shared.
"What? Really? He really wants us on the team? Wow," Ollie said in shock.
Jackson was pleased, "I mean, that's nice and all. But Gram, how would we do our chores, our homework, and do all that they do in football?"
"Don said he'd take care of it. He'd arrange your rides, they have study times for the players and even tutoring, and he thinks y'all would do real good. He was a good friend to your dad, but he doesn't know that your wolves," Mary insisted.
"We can go talk to him when we turn in the form. Speaking of which, he reckoned you was going give us another whuppin' for getting in trouble at school," Ollie blurted out.
"Boys, I'm going to be honest, I thought I ought to take the switch to all y'all behinds, but Don talked me into just giving y'all a little spanking. He said he laid into all three of you good," Mary shared.
"He did, Grandma. It still hurts," Jackson admitted.
"Come on, let's get this over with. I don't want Aiden worrying all night about getting another spanking," Mary said to Jackson. It was then that Jackson saw the broken half of yardstick on the coffee table.
"Drop you drawers and bent over the couch. I want to see if there is any damage," Mary ordered.
The boys obeyed quickly hoping to get this over with before Tommy got back.
"A little pink, but not bad. Now y'all stay down," Mary reminded them. She quickly moved down the line and gave them all one lick. Her yardstick left a pink mark of its own, but compared to the heavy oak paddle they had been swatted with this morning, it was child's play.
"Okay, you can put your pants up. I'll sign them forms and you can tell them I'm raising you right and you got whooped at home, too," Mary said wryly. Jack and Ollie grinned at each other a moment, like anyone cared, but to Mary, it was important that she did the right thing.
"Ah, thanks, Gram. I think you done your duty. Now can you sign the papers?" Jackson asked soberly. The token lick had stung only briefly, but she could be sure they wouldn't skip even a second of school again.
They gave Mary the form for her to sign and date. Aiden seemed fine now. He was relieved that the worst was over.
Tommy came in, and Mary went to check in with him.
"Well, do you think we ought to do it? Football, I mean," Ollie asked.
"Yeah, I guess. Maybe it will get some of your aggression out. I mean, you was pretty fired up about Modeste. I guess I was, too. It would be good training for us, too," Jackson attested.
"Guys, sorry, but count me out. I want to spend as little time as possible in that horrible locker room," Aiden groused. Today would go down as being one of the worst days of his young life.
"Come on, it was kinda bad today, that's for sure, but you survived. You really don't wanna play?" Oliver pressed.
"Not at all. Sorry, guys, this ones all on you," Aiden smiled happily. He went to go rest in his bed, on his stomach.
"Want to walk down to the water tonight? After we do that geography paper?" Jackson asked.
"Or we could just skip it and say we don't get a shit about the South American capitols. I mean, I don't even know rightly where South America is, or care," Oliver grumbled.
"Don't start, Ollie. We're doing this now, then we'll go fishin'. Just like old times," Jackson smiled clapping his friend on the shoulder.
"Fine, you do all the hard parts though, Jack. I ain't good at this stuff," Oliver swore.
"I always do, Brother. I always do," Jackson laughed.
The Compound
French Quarter, New Orleans
4pm
"Marcel, you need to talk to them already. Davina thinks you hate her. Come home now. Please," Rebekah hissed into the cell phone.
Davina couldn't hear the other end of the conversation, but she surmised that her dad was saying that he was too busy to come home again. It had only been a day, but to Davina and Josh, it felt like a year.
"What's wrong, Davina?" Hayley whispered.
"I don't think my dad is coming home again. He really hates me," Davina said flipping over on the bed.
"I never really had a dad, I mean, I don't think old, drunk, foster dads count, but yours seems really cool. I don't think he hates anyone," Hayley explained gently.
Rebekah tapped on the doorframe of the open door.
"Are you girls hungry? I sent Josh to pick up the take out. Thai tonight. Um, Dad is going to be a little late. He's doing something at St. Anne's again. I'm starting to think he's in love with Cami's uncle Kieran," Rebekah joked.
"Mom, stop. That guy's a priest. Besides, he just doesn't want to deal with Josh and me. Have you ever seen him this mad before?" Davina asked rolling over.
"Oh yes, mostly at Kol. Sometimes at Nik. Sometimes at Elijah. A few times at me. Face it, he does have a temper, like us all, but luv, he's not mad. I promise you that, he's...," Rebekah trailed off.
"Hurt," Hayley said simply.
"That's worse," Davina almost whispered.
Rebekah came in and sat on the bed. "You need to be honest and face what you did and the consequences. Davina, you did the wrong thing for the right reasons," Rebekah smiled. Hayley smiled back at her shyly.
"Why does it have to be so hard?" Davina wondered.
"I don't know. But I don't think that Marcel will be able to look Hayley in the eye and not believe that she deserves, just as much love and protection as the rest of us. The wolves have gotten a rotten deal and that needs to change," Rebekah said getting up slowly.
"And it will," Marcel said popping in from the hallway.
"Dad!" Davina cried, sitting up. Marcel patted Hayley's arm lightly, kissed Rebekah, and went to sit by Davina.
"Is there a reason you have taken to your bed?" Marcel said smoothing back Davina' hair.
"I thought you hated me. All day at school, I wondered if I should even bother coming home," Davina said softly.
"Oh Davina, your mother said you were feeling low and that you thought I was angry. I'm over that now? Do I feel betrayed? Yes. Do I feel left out? Yes. But-," Marcel started.
"It's okay. You're here now," Davina replied.
"I called your dad and explained that are suffering, too. You wanted to help Josh assist the wolves of the Bayou, like Hayley. Marcel, if Davina would have come to you first, would you have listened?" Rebekah intervened.
"That's the thing. I'll never know because she and Josh never gave me the chance. So how can I say. That is what I think they deserve to get punished over, not trying to make the moonlight rights," Marcel said.
"Well, then, I need to get punished, too," Hayley admitted, "I was in on the plan to skip school and steal the stones. This isn't just on Davina and Josh."
Marcel balked, "Hayley, I don't feel like I'm in a position to handle that. I mean, I agree that you made some bad decisions, but I would be uncomfortable discipling you for them."
"Didn't you find and rescue me as a baby? Didn't you know my parents and make an alliance with them? If you punish Davina and Josh, then you have to discipline me also. It's just not fair that everyone else gets in trouble and I get off without a slap on the wrist," Hayley argued.
"Oh, you'll get more than just a slap on the wrist here, young lady. I agree, Marcel, Hayley was just as involved. You should treat her just like the other two," Rebekah said firmly.
Marcel gave her a pleading look, but Rebekah held firm. A part of her wondered if she had been here with Marcel when Hayley was found, would they have just adopted her as their own baby? She deserved to be purged of her guilt, as the others would be.
Josh vamped up to the room.
"Oh, ah Marcel, hi," Josh stammered.
"Hey Joshua. Do you guys want to eat first?" Marcel asked looking at the group. Marcel had been upset, almost pouting. But when Rebekah told him Davina thought he hated her, he dropped everything and came home.
"I'm not hungry," Davina grumbled.
"Okay, we'll do this now. Josh, why don't you go take a shower and get ready for bed. I'll talk to the girls and then be in. Then, we'll have a nice dinner," Marcel said. Rebekah went to put the food away until it was ready to re-heat.
"Dad, are you sure you're not mad?" Davina trembled.
"D., look at me, I'm not mad. I was very hurt, but your mom explained how much you wanted to help the wolves. You acted like a leader and a hero. I'm very proud of you. But I am going to punish both you girls for lying, deceit, stealing, and some bad judgement. I want you to talk to Aunt Freya about the spell and make sure it is safe. Because I am not sure we know all we need to know about it," Marcel added.
"Okay, I will," Davina said softly. Marcel wasn't used to seeing her defeated.
"Come here. We're good. But I don't know how many times I gotta say this, no lying. Be honest with me. You know, I'm not a tyrant. I'll listen. I used to think the same stuff about my dad, only sometimes he was a tyrant," Marcel laughed a little as he pulled her into his arms.
"Klaus? Yeah, I can see that," Davina smiled back. Marcel held her tightly a moment as Hayley looked on. She couldn't see Marcel punishing them. He seemed too good natured and calm.
"Okay, you ready?" Marcel said gently.
"I guess," Davina said nervously.
"Girl, you might as well change for bed. Then, Davina, I want you to go put your nose in that corner over that. Hayley, you can park yourself in that corner. I'm going to go get Rebekah. Five minutes," Marcel said as he left the room.
"Are you sure you want to do this?" Davina asked Hayley. She took out her pajama pants and shirt. Hayley had been staying in the other room, but Davina tossed her a similar outfit.
"Yeah, I reckon Mary probably wailed on the boys with her old strap. She used it on me, like the first time I met her," Hayley said undressing.
"What? Are you serious?" Davina asked in horror.
"Things aren't so fancy in the Bayou. Folks are rough and don't play so much. Is this going to be bad?" Hayley whispered glancing at the door.
"My dad doesn't spank hard, but if my mom's coming...She's going to bare our butts and...Hurry up," Davina replied scrambling into the corner.
Hayley stumbled to pull up the pajama pants and run to her corner.
Marcel was back, trailed by Rebekah.
"Hayley, come over here please," Marcel said dragging around Davina's armless chair and sitting. Hayley was confused, she had been pushed over chairs before. Marcel waited.
"Over my lap, sweetheart," Marcel directly.
"Are you serious?" Hayley balked. She had never been spanked like this before. Maybe he was joking.
"No, hon, I'm not. Is this your first time getting a spanking?" Marcel asked quietly.
"No, sir. I've been belted and smacked a lot, but never like this. What do I do?" Hayley pressed.
"Oh Hayley, it's hard to hear that you've been mistreated. That's not going to happen tonight, I promise. Come closer," Marcel guided her over his lap. Rebekah sat down on a trunk to her right.
"I'm right here. Don't be scared. Marcel's going to use his hand and you girls get the worst part from me," Rebekah said.
"Yes, ma'am," Hayley gasped. Her hands were on the floor and her legs in the air. She felt funny and almost like could fall off his lap until Marcel tightened his grip on her waist. She felt his large hand on her behind.
"Can you tell me why you are here?" Marcel started.
"Cause we, I lied and skipped school to steal the stones for the spell," Hayley revealed.
"Lying always gets you in trouble, doesn't it?" Marcel questioned.
"Yes, sir," Hayley said a moment before the first crisp whack.
Smack! Hayley flinched but kept still.
Whack! The loud smack rang out in the bedroom and all she could hear was her breathing.
"I know you're a werewolf so I'm going to spank you harder *whack* than I normally would, but this is just a reminder than you are better than this. You don't have to lie *crack* and deceive others to get your way. *Swat* As the so-called King around here, *smack* I'm charged to protecting all supernaturals and even humans of New Orleans, okay?" Marcel said swatting down firmly even few seconds.
Whack! Whack!
Hayley tried to agree, but another hard spank caught the top of her thigh and she bit her lip to avoid squealing.
Smack! Smack! Smack! Smack!
Marcel began to spank her harder and she realized why he had ordered them out of jeans and into the thin cotton pajamas. They provided only a slight protection from his hard hand. After another full minute of smacks, Hayley was feeling the warmth on her bottom turn to a burning. Yet, the spanking continued unabated.
Crack! Crack! Crack! Crack!
"Okay! I get it. No lying," Hayley yelped as she tried to kick off Marcel's lap.
"None of that, I know it stings, but you'll remember this, the next time you want to go off on some half-cocked dangerous plan," Marcel lectured.
Soon, Hayley tried to move by pushing up, but Marcel's hard whacks to her bottom kept her firmly in place. Tears formed in her eyes and she broke into sobs.
"I'm sorry. I won't do it again," Hayley whined now kicking and jerking as much as his arm would allow.
Marcel stood Hayley up and held her arms in place.
"We care about you and your kin. I promise I will do what I can to protect you and them, but I need you to trust me. Okay, sweetheart, now Rebekah's going to finish your spanking and you'll be all forgiven," Marcel vowed.
Marcel stood and hugged her. Hayley wanted to rub her behind, but was afraid to try. Rebekah stood up and gently led her to Davina's bed.
Marcel went over and pulled Davina out of the corner.
"Daddy, I'm okay now, you don't have to...," Davina pleaded, she had lost her nerve hearing the hard swats being handed out to Hayley. Marcel brought her over to the chair and put her over his lap.
"Tell me why I'm having to spank my little girl again?" Marcel chided.
"I hid what I was planning. I went behind your back. I plotted. I got all the ingredients for spell that could have messed up the city and...," Davina stalled.
Smack! Smack! Smack1
Marcel landed three hard cracks to the center of Davina's rear causing her to kick and yell out.
"I lied! I lied to you and Mom. I'm sorry," Davina blubbered, crying openly.
"Yes, D. And you're going to pay for that over my lap. Now hang on," Marcel said. He began spanking Davina quickly all over in a random pattern as she tried to stay still, but failed.
Over at the bed, Rebekah sat down and pin Hayley between her legs.
"I know you volunteered to get punished, but we felt you needed a little taste of what Josh and Davina are going to get. You pajama pants are going to come down to your knees," Rebekahs said sternly.
"Yes, ma'am," Hayley gasped as her pants were yanked down. Rebekah sat back on the bed and pulled Hayley over her lap. She picked up the wooden spoon and rested it on Hayley's pink right cheek. Hayley clenched.
"I'm going to give you five swats on each side. Then, you can sit in the corner until you calm down," Rebekah said.
"Okay," Hayley sobbed. She was scared.
Whap! Whap! Rebekah popped the spoon down smartly on each cheek leaving a little pink splotch.
"Oww," Hayley gasped. She kicked and tried to get up, but Rebekah held her down firmly.
Whap! Whap! Hayley groaned again as that damn thing smarted.
Whap! Whap! Rebekah smacked her hard on the same spot and Hayley cried out. She had agreed to this, but now she changed her mind.
WHAP! WHAP! Hayley kicked as much as she could and rocked her hips to try to give her backside a break, but Rebekah was too strong.
WHAP! WHAP! Hayley wailed loudly and then relaxed over Rebekah's lap. She thought it was done, but wasn't sure. She had lost count.
"Shhhh, Hayley," Rebekah soothed her, rubbing her back and patting her.
"No more," Hayley cried.
"No, luv. It's over. You took that so well. All is forgiven. You are safe now," Rebekah crooned. Rebekah looked over at Marcel and indicated that she was taking Hayley to her room. She carried the crying girl to her bed. Rebekah sat in the guest bed and held Hayley in her arms. She let her cry on her chest for a long time and rocked her quietly. Grabbing some nearby tissues, Rebekah had her blow her nose and wipe her face.
"Better?" Rebekah asked knowingly.
"Yes, ma'am. It stings, but I'm healing."
"Yes, I hope so, honey. Hayley, I hated to spank you like that, but I don't want you to feel like there are no consequences for bad behavior. It's over now," Rebekah said as she pressed her lips to the girl's head. Her dark hair was messed up, but still lovely, Rebekah thought.
"Don't you need to get back to Davina," Hayley worried.
"No, I think she needs so time with her dad. They have some things to work out," Rebekah said, staying with Hayley.
Marcel finished swatting Davina over her pjs and stood her up. She whined, "Dad! I've learned my lesson." She tried to rub her backside and Marcel held her hands in front of her and gave her a little swat on the back of the thigh.
"Owww!" she howled.
"We're not done. Tell me that I can trust you to make good decisions. You can protect your friends, your family, and yourself at the same time. However, it may not always be the way you want it to be. You have to learn that, D." Marcel lectured. She was still crying and aching to rub her backside, so he wasn't sure she was listening. But maybe he would let the spoon do some of the talking.
"I'm giving you ten smacks with the spoon. Your pants are coming down. Come on," Marcel led her over to her bed and had her bend over. He sat and turned so he could still hold her down even though she wasn't bent over his knee. He grabbed her waistband and carefully pulled down her cotton pants. He didn't want to swat her too hard and leave bruises or marks.
Davina cried and tried to fight to hold up her pants. He popped the top of her thighs with the spoon until she let go.
"This is for lying to me. I knew you were planning something, but I had no idea it was still big," Marcel said as he gave her the first two swats.
Crack! Crack!
"AWWWW! Dad, it's too hard. Stop! I'm sorry," Davina screamed.
Marcel held her down and gave her the next eight swats quickly. He didn't smack her hard, but she was writhing and thrashing over the bed. Marcel tossed the spoon and picked her up. Unlike Hayley, Davina would not heal as quickly.
Davina resisted him a moment as her backside felt fiery and hot.
"Davina, let me hold you. I'm sorry I made you wait. That was childish of me, but I didn't want to talk when I was upset. It all worked out. Next time, let's just not let it get to this point," Marcel begged. Marcel sat her on his lap and held her in his arms. He felt a rush of emotion, everything from guilt to sadness to relief that they could move on.
"Let's not have a next time," Davina spluttered.
Marcel grinned, "Sounds like a plan. I mean it, though. I want you to be careful with that spell. The magic to change the whole being of a wolf has to be an old and dark and dangerous. Your safety has to be paramount. We can't lose you again."
Davina sniffed and rested her head against Marcel's chest.
"I'll be careful. You're not going to be too hard on Josh, are you, Dad? He's in love and he's so worried," Davina breathed.
"I know. I'll be just as firm as I need to. You know I love you, and I love, Josh. Baby vampires need a firm hand, but he'll be okay," Marcel promised.
Rebekah came to the door.
"Friends again?" Rebekah smiled.
"Yeah, but I can't sit tonight," Davina claimed with a small smile. That wasn't true, but she wasn't above garnering some sympathy.
"Poor baby, come on, let's go get dinner reheated. Dad needed to talk to Josh. He's on pins and needles. Maybe I can sneak you some wine coolers?" Rebekah said helping Davina up.
"No more than two wine coolers each, that goes for all three of you. We'll be down soon. He'll be fine, ladies. You act as if I'm going to kill him," Marcel defended.
Rebekah put up her hands, "Okay, we didn't say a word." She took Davina by the hand.
Marcel said, "Wait." He hugged and kissed both of them and held them for a moment without saying anything. Hayley came in and stopped short. Rebekah held out her arm and brought Hayley in.
Marcel broke away and went to find Josh. He was waiting and it was getting late.
