While Thor and Loki went off to get their ship, Spencer was taken to her apartment by Val (Valkyrie had told Spencer to call her Val, which totally made Spencer fangirl.) and Bruce to get Spencer's cherished items. Val parked her ship beside the balcony of the apartment, and Spencer made quick work of getting her backpack. She stuffed a few souvenirs she's been collecting from Sakaar and the painting of Frigga from Loki's room. Something had told the young woman to take it, so, she did. Bruce was fawning over their apartment.
"This is a lot cleaner than Val's," Bruce commented offhandedly.
"I find that comment offensive," Val yelled from her ship.
The whole process only took less than two minutes, Spencer was heading back towards the living room when their front door opened to reveal a surprised Cayden. "Whose that? Wow, he's handsome!" Bruce poked his head around Spencer's shoulder to gawk at the blue alien.
Cayden's galaxy eyes looked at Spencer and then at the backpack slung over her shoulder, to Bruce, and then to Val waiting outside in her ship. "You're leaving," Cayden said blankly, and although he sounded indifferent, his eyes felt strained.
Spencer bobbed her head, bringing her backpack down in front of her, and digging through it for some gems-the highly valuable ones, "As a thank you," Spencer walked up to Cayden and placed the gems in his hands with a sad smile, "For showing me your city and babysitting me," Spencer felt sad, but she always knew this was going to happen. She really did like Cayden as a friend, but besides Cayden's constant flirting, she wasn't sure if Cayden liked her at all.
Cayden looked at the gems in his hands; they were small, but would set him up very nicely and looked at Spencer, "Tell that mate of yours how lucky he is to have you for me," Cayden's smirk felt sad, and his eyes looked sad, too.
Spencer's expression softened, "I left something for you in my room," Spencer said going to give him a tight hug, "A parting gift from your favorite Earthling," Spencer grinned widely.
Cayden rolled his eyes, "You're the only Earthling I know," He pointed out smartly, making her laugh.
Spencer squeezed his arm in goodbye, "Try not to spend those on booze," Spencer winked before going back to Val's ship. Bruce had already buckled himself in, and Spencer did the same. Cayden watched from the balcony doorway with a sad, but thoughtful look on his face as he waved goodbye.
"He's hot," Val commented, "You had that babysitting you?" Val demanded.
Spencer bobbed her head, "He is rather handsome, but I'm spoke for." Spencer smiled fondly at the memory of her Pietro.
Val flew her ship into position near where Thor and Loki should be passing through with the acquired ship. It didn't take long before their shiny, new ship flew by them, with a trail of smaller ships following behind. "Let's rock and roll!" Spencer whooped as Val launched her ship forward to race towards Thor and their ship.
"I don't know what that means," Val says to her, "But I like it!" Val throws a smirk over her shoulder to Spencer, and Spencer winks back.
Val makes quick work of the ships gaining on Thor's tail before opening the comms, "Open the door," Val tells Thor before steering her ship right below Thor's to line up with the doors underneath, "I hope you Earthlings are tougher than you look," Val comments with a smug, knowing tone.
Bruce looks at Val confused, "What?"
Val presses the eject button, but Spencer is already waiting for it, but Poor Bruce hadn't been ready. Spencer and Bruce are airborne as they launch out of Val's dingy, old ship and into their new, shiny one. Spencer immediately and easily shifts to grab Bruce's arm(Bruce is screaming his head off), and manipulates the air to soften and slow them down to land gently into Thor's legally acquired ship.
Thor's laugh excitedly at their presence, "Welcome aboard, friends!"
Bruce looks ready to pass out and Spencer keeps a firm grip on her friend, "Steady, Steady," Spencer says to Bruce, who is a little uneasy. Spencer looked towards the cockpit and realized Loki was missing, "Where's Loki?" Spencer asks Thor.
Thor glances over his shoulder with a strange expression, "Staying behind."
Spencer felt her heart drop at his words, and tried her best not to look hurt, but it must've been obvious because Thor looks at her sadly, "I am sorry, Spencer. He was going to betray me again, I couldn't let him."
Spencer just nods mutely. In the background, she could hear the sounds of shots hitting their ship, "Shouldn't we be shooting back or something?!" Bruce yells at Thor.
"On it," Thor calls back before asking Val, "Where are the guns on this ship?"
"There aren't any!" Val responds back through the ship's comms, "It's a leisure vessel!"
Bruce and Spencer look at each other, "What?!" The trio squawk in as Bruce and Spencer make their steady way towards the cockpit.
"Yeah, Grandmaster uses it for his good times, orgies and stuff!" Val responds quickly.
Spencer is looking around the ship, realizing that the ceiling had mirrors on it and the floor is covered in plush, Sakaarian rugs. "Oh, that's gross," Spencer cringes with awkwardness.
"Did I hear that right?" Bruce comments weakly, "Did she say the Grandmaster uses it for orgies?"
Thor looks equally disturbed, "Yeah, don't touch anything!"
Bruce settles to stand behind Thor's seat and Spencer slides into the co-pilot's seat and buckles herself in, "Bruce, you should put your seat belt on!" Spencer scolds the older man.
Bruce looks back at her, "But I can't see anything from back there!" Bruce jerks his thumb towards the other seats in the cockpit.
Spencer rolls her eyes, "Fine, but if you fall out of the ship, I'm not coming to get you!" Spencer threatens.
"That's really mean!" Bruce say with a pout.
Before Spencer could respond, Val's ship flies by them, with an orange ship right on Val's tail. Thor immediately follows after. Whoever was in the orange ship seemed more determined to shoot Val out of the sky than them. Spencer watches as Thor inches closer and closer to the orange ship, before Val's ship is hit!
Spencer gasps in horror, as does Bruce.
A second later, Val's ship blows up.
"No!" Thor roars in anguish.
A beat later, they see a spec coming out of the explosion and flying right at them, "Is that?" Spencer asks before Val hits the side of the windshield and grabs on tightly, "Oh, thank god!" Spencer sags in relief, but that relief is short-lived, as more ships are behind them and trying to shoot them down.
"Get inside!" Thor tells Val.
"In a minute!" Val shouts back and pulls herself up towards the roof of the ship. There's a few heartbeats of silence before Thor looks over at Spencer, "We should probably go and help," He informs her.
Spencer cocks an eyebrow, "Yeah?"
Thor nods before standing up, "Here, take the wheel," Thor guides Bruce into the pilot seat as Spencer unbuckles her seatbelt.
Bruce has an expression of fear and anxiety, "No! I don't know how to fly one of these!" Bruce whines loudly.
"You're a scientist, use one of your PhD's!" Thor pats Bruce's shoulder reassuringly as Spencer moves to the back of the ship.
"None of them are for flying aliens spaceships!" Bruce yells as Thor retreats to the back of the ship with Spencer.
"You think he'll be fine flying the ship?" Spencer asks Thor.
The duo look back towards Bruce, who looks like he's having a mini-breakdown at the moment, before looking back at one another, "He should be fine!" Thor reassures before jumping out of the ship.
"I'll be on the roof, Bruce!" Spencer yells over at her friend before jumping down from the ship and manipulating the air to push her quickly to the roof of the ship. Val and Thor are tearing through the army of ships trying to shoot their ship down. Spencer encases her feet in metal to hold herself steady on the roof of the ship and shields herself in a thick wall of air, so that the wind isn't plowing her from all directions. Once Spencer pats her wild hair down, she summons the mountains of trash below on the ground, reshapes them into giant, metal spears, and hurls them towards the other ships.
Her first one misses, and Spencer frowns.
She throws another and this one hits her mark, though just barely.
"I am so off my game," Spencer comments to herself, "Sif would be horrified and Clint would probably shoot me with an arrow, and Nat? Nat would stab me for being so shitty with my aim!" Spencer huffs and prepares another metal spear, "Channel my inner King Wight Walker," Spencer tells herself as she pulls back her arm and throws the metal spear straight towards one of the ships getting a little too close.
Shots are bouncing off her reinforced air bubble, and her spear hits the ship right in the middle of the cockpit, and Spencer watches with glee as the ships tumbles down and crashes, "Yeah, there we go," Spencer nods with satisfaction before several shots hit her bubble.
Spencer sees a familiar orange ship gaining on them, Bruce is doing the ol' bop and weave maneuver with the ship, and it was doing a good job shaking off a lot of the ships from our tail, but this ship (the same one who tunneled Val and shot her down) was doing the same to them. Spencer's mouth curled into a smirk, "Alright, you wanna play? We can play, bitch!" Spencer sings as the metal spear in her hand transform into a trident, but before Spencer could hurl the trident, fireworks begin shooting from their ship and into the air!
Their explosions startle Spencer, but her eyes are wide with awe as different colors rain around her, "Okay, that's cool!" Spencer says with a laugh.
The orange ship, blinded by the bright lights, crashes into a tall mountain of trash. Spencer watches with a smirk as the ship explodes, before she manipulates the trident into a pair of metal wings on her back, and the metal wrapped around her feet slowly melt back onto the ship. She looked back to see Thor and Val hopping onto a smoking ship and heading towards them.
Spencer glided down with her wings supporting her and back into the ship, the metal on her back crumbles down onto the floor, and Spencer startled when Thor and Val land into the ship. Val throws her arm over the young woman with a grin, "Nice aim!" Val comments with an impressed look.
Spencer pouts, "I missed the first one!"
"But you hit all the other ones," Thor joins them and grins widely.
Spencer tries not to blush, as the trio move towards the cockpit, "Nice driving, Bruce," Spencer pats Bruce on the shoulder, "That bopping and weaving got most of them off our tail," Spencer praises as Val and Thor take control of the ship.
Bruce looks flustered, excited, and anxious, but manages to smile at Spencer, "Thanks, I bet Clint would be impressed, huh?" Bruce comments as Bruce and Spencer buckle into their seats.
"Oh, yeah, totally!" Spencer giggles, "You did a lot better than I did when I first flew my bird," Spencer sighs with a small smile.
"Oh, yeah, how'd that go?" Bruce questioned curiously.
Spencer tried not to smirk, "I flew it straight into the ground!" Spencer laughs.
Bruce stares at her wide-eyed, "Is that why Clint never lets you fly?" Bruce demands, looking a tiny bit concern now.
Spencer nods, "Yup, he broke his leg and I broke some of my ribs," Spencer fondly reminisces even though Clint kicked her ass once his leg was healed up, "Yeah, he kicked my ass for hours straight after that and Nat laughed the whole time."
"Should I be concerned?" Bruce asks awkwardly.
Spencer looked at her friend with her eyes twinkling, "Maybe?" Spencer laughs.
"I like her," Val leans over to tell Thor, "She's weird."
That makes Spencer blush and Bruce sighs, "Spencer, you have a boyfriend!"
Spencer glares at Bruce, "I'm being complimented by an elite warrior from Asgard, Bruce! Let me live my life!" Bruce laughs at her expression before Val jerks the ship upwards into the Devil's Anus, "Hey," Bruce looks at Spencer and Spencer looks back at her friend, "Think about how jealous everyone else is going to be when we come back and tell them we went through the Devil's anus!"
Spencer levels Bruce with a serious look, "Bruce, if you tell them that, they'll be mortified."
That makes Bruce think for a moment before nodding in agreement, "Yeah, maybe we should just tell them we went through a gigantic wormhole of death."
"Alright, here we go!" Val yells as the ship is swallowed up by the towering red nightmare that is the Devil's Anus. The ship is being jerked around trying to outmaneuver all the debris flying around, but it's a challenge even for Val.
Their ship is groaning and creaking, struggling to keep up with the demands of outside. Spencer is now getting a little concern now, "Oh, god," Spencer begins to chant each time they hit large debris. Val is doing her best to avoid hitting any of the large debris, but unable to do anything about the smaller debris pelting their ship. A large, sweaty hand suddenly grabs Spencer's hand, and Spencer glances over at Bruce.
Bruce glances at her with clear fear and worry.
Spencer squeezes his hand in reassurance, and she inwardly prays to whatever Higher Being that they'll make it out in one piece, but they higher they go into the wormhole, the stronger the pressure builds. Spencer gasps, feeling as if her bones were beginning to feel heavy, and her heart begins to hammer in her chest.
The frightening sensation is kicking up her anxiety now.
She can barely breathe now; she could feel her bones groaning in protest under this immense pressure, and her ears are popping like crazy. Just when Spencer thought her body couldn't handle it anymore, there's a flash of bright light and Spencer's vision goes dark from exhaustion.
Spencer wakes up to Bruce tugging at her hand and calling her name.
She bolts up, but is restrained by her seat belt. The lights inside the ship are blinking lazily, her eyes are glued to the window beside her. They were in space, the endless blackness littered with stars take her breath away. Her mind is rapidly committing this experience into her mind; to draw and paint later whenever she found the time.
It was beautiful, but as Spencer turns to look at Thor and Val, her breath gets caught in her throat. The realm of Asgard gleams in front of them, and it was only then that Spencer realized that Asgard was a flat city in the middle of an island floating in space. Her eyes greedily drink in the vastness of Asgard, the waterfalls falling off the edge, and the golden city nestled in the middle with the beauty of space as a backdrop.
She's never seen something so beautiful, so majestic.
She burns this image of Asgard into her mind; to keep forever.
It doesn't take them long to reach the Bifrost and speed by it; it only took Spencer a few seconds to realize that Asgard was on fire. "I never thought I'd be back here," Val comments, her voice was think with emotion.
Bruce unbuckles his seatbelt to get a better look at the burning, golden city, "I thought it'd be nice," Bruce looks dejected.
Thor glares at their friend.
Bruce quickly catches his mistake and corrects himself, "I mean, not that it's not nice, it's just, it's on fire!" He hurriedly explains. Asgard is in ruins, and resembles a ghost town; fires, wrecked buildings, and dead bodies littering the whole place. It makes Spencer's stomach twist painfully in her stomach, she can feel the tears in her eyes.
This place had been her home; even if it was a short time, she had loved Asgard. Spencer silently unbuckles her seat belt, got up, and stood behind Thor's seat. Tentatively, she places a hand on his shoulder, feeling how stiff her friend had gone. There was only silence in the ship; a silence that Spencer recognized.
It was the silence of devastation.
"Here," Val's voice cracks slightly, but the elite warrior clears her throat, "up here in the mountains," Val points to the projected image on the console; it shows the mountain close to the city, "Heat signatures," Val explains as there was a red dot at the top of the mountain, "People are clustered together," With a grim tone, Val adds, "Hela's coming for them."
"Okay," Thor murmurs, "Drop me off at the palace, and I'll draw her away," Thor orders quietly.
"And get yourself killed?" Val has a shocked expression on her face.
Spencer looks at her dear friend and sees the resolve and determination on his face, "The people are trapped down there are all that matters," Thor informs Val patiently, "While I'm dealing with Hela, I need you three to help get everyone off Asgard."
Spencer nods her head, accepting her orders.
But Bruce protests, "How the hell are we supposed to do that?"
Thor looks over his shoulder and at Spencer knowingly, "We have a man on the ground."
Spencer smirks in response.
They head towards the palace and Val parks the ship near the armory; Thor and Val quickly go inside to get weapons for their fight. Bruce is flying now, and Spencer is sitting on the balcony edge, looking out towards the remains of a great city. Spencer can feel her dread swirling in her stomach and mind; something feels wrong.
But her body is calm and collected; it had been a while since she was forced to fight, not since that mission back home that she collapsed during. Training and actually fighting for your life, for the life of civilians, was vastly different. Training was only focused on building Spencer's body back up, but this battle that loomed in front of her?
This was a fight to save Asgard's people; to save Thor's beloved home.
Right now, it was the calm before the shit storm.
Spencer could feel Asgard's life-force pooling at her fingers; desperate and grieving. She closed her eyes, trying not to get emotional, but how could she not? It felt as if Asgard was begging her to save them, save the people who lived there. The wave of grief that rolled through her came from Asgard; it consumed her heart, and she felt the tears sliding down her face.
Almost as if Asgard knew that something terrible was going to happen.
Spencer murmured, "I'll try my best," She promised.
She wiped her tears away, mentally prepared her mind and body, and hopped back into the ship with Bruce. "Are you okay?" Bruce asks from the pilot seat.
Spencer is digging through the backpack, "I can feel Asgard's life-force," Spencer explains to Bruce, "I'm sure you noticed, but my abilities aren't the same as they were before you disappeared," Spencer pokes her head into her backpack to see into the endless space of her magical vault.
"S-Spencer!?" Bruce squawked in surprise.
"Hold on, I'm looking for something!" Spencer yelled out, looking around for the armor that Sif and Thor fashioned for her months ago; Spencer was already halfway into the backpack; the mouth of the bag widening to accommodate her, and she was wildly looking around for her armor.
She seriously needed to organize everything; it was a mess in here!
After huffing and puffing, Spencer finally found her armor! It was hidden behind her vast collection of paintings. Spencer felt something tug at her foot, "Going!" Spencer reached out to grasp her armor and pulled it towards her, and leaned out of her backpack with Bruce gawking at her as if she had grown two heads.
Val and Thor were loading up a massive blaster onto the ship, though the both of them didn't look surprised that Spencer was inside a magical backpack pulling up her armor. "Loki enchanted it for me," Spencer explains to Bruce with a small smile, "It's keeps all my things nice and safe for me, oh, and it's waterproof!" Spencer beams.
Bruce just gapes.
Spencer throws her backpack at Bruce, who catches it clumsily, "Go ahead and take a peak," Spencer cheerfully says as she goes into one of the corners of the ship, closes herself off with metal walls and begins to quickly dress in her armor, "Don't look at my porn stash though!" She jokes with a laugh.
"Porn stash?!" Bruce sounds mortified.
"She's joking, Banner," Thor chuckles.
Once Spencer is fitted in her shiny, Asgardian armor, she pulls down the metal walls and see that the blaster has been carefully mounted and placed, "There, now the ship has guns," Thor says with a huff.
"Wow, Spencer, nice armor!" Bruce awes with her backpack in his lap.
"Thanks, it was a gift from Sif and Thor," Spencer says brightly as Val was eyeing her armor with interest, "What?" Spencer asks, feeling self-conscious now. Her armor was sleek and silver, accented with the occasional gold, and the cloak that Sif had gifted her was now flowing off her shoulders; similar to Val's only slightly darker than hers. "Too much?" Spencer did a little twirl.
"No, it suits you very well," Val roughly comments, averting her eyes.
Spencer threw a confused look at Thor, who shrugged before placing a bundle of fabric at Val's feet; it looked like rolled up armor. "I found this in the armory," Thor gives a light shrug as Val stares at the fabric blankly before sharing a look with Thor. Spencer recognized it immediately; it was Valkyrie armor.
"Keep them safe," Thor tells Val, gesturing to Bruce and Spencer, before walking away.
But before Thor is out of earshot, Val comments, "Your Majesty," Spencer and Bruce stare at Val with surprise, "Don't die," and that's as sentimental as Val was going to show them.
Thor just gives a small smile, appreciating the small show of sentiment from the older woman, before waving goodbye and disappearing down the hall. "Let's go, Bruce," Val says, picking up the fabric and heading over to Spencer.
Bruce closes up the doors and Spencer watches Val walk up to her, "Need a changing room?" Spencer smiles.
"Please," Though, Val was usually tough with Thor, it didn't extend to Bruce and Spencer. Val was a lot less intense with the Earthlings for some reason. Spencer with a flick of her wrist crafted a changing room for Val to give her some privacy to change. Val nodded her thanks, stepped inside the room, and Spencer closed it a doorway, that way Val could get out on her own.
Spencer went to the cockpit and plopped down beside Bruce, "How are you holding up, buddy?" Spencer asks as Bruce flies them towards the Bifrost.
"Could be worse," Bruce tells her truthfully, "Doesn't seem to strange considering we've done the same with our planet." Bruce gives her a weary grin.
Spencer chuckles and pats his shoulder, "Let's do our best so, we can gloat to the others once we get back home, yeah?" Spencer smirks.
Bruce's eyes gleam with excitement, "Sounds like a plan, I can finally rub it in Tony's smug, little face."
"We got movement on the bridge," Spencer calls as the thick clouds were getting in the way of properly seeing the Bifrost bridge, "Bruce, can you bring us down and out of this coverage?" Spencer asks.
"Sure, are you ready, Val?" Bruce asks the other woman.
Val was stepping out of the little changing room with an air of confidence about her that just lit up Spencer's heart; Val looked badass in her Valkyrie armor! It was white and gold, and coupled with the velvety blue cape, Spencer was enamored with Val's armor. A shot of excitement ran up Spencer's spine and in her heard, she screamed, "I'm going to fight alongside a Valkyrie, omg!"
"Ready!" Val gets behind the blaster and grins at Spencer, who is gawking openly.
Bruce lowers the ship below the clouds, and Spencer's expression is a mixture of shock and awe; Heimdall has led the survivors to the bridge, but in their way was a horde of undead warriors and a giant black wolf! "Is that a fucking wolf?!" Spencer cries out.
"That's Hela's war wolf, Fenris!" Val gets the blaster ready as Fenris charges at the crowd with gleaming, glowing green eyes.
"But he looks so fluffy," Spencer laments.
"Spencer, seriously?" Bruce laughs, because it was totally like Spencer to say that in the midst of a war.
Fenris didn't get close before Val lets loose a hail of bullets at the gigantic war wolf, giving Heimdall and the civilians time to retreat, but on the other side of the bridge is another horde of undead warriors led by Skurge?!
"Shit, this isn't good," Spencer says, seeing that Heimdall and the refugees are sandwiched now.
"This stupid mutt won't die!" Val snaps at them in anger.
Spencer sees Fenris galloping down the bridge now, unbothered by the hail of bullets Val just rained down on it, "Crap! I guess it's my turn now," Spencer sighs, getting up from her seat, but Bruce grabs her wrist to stop her.
Bruce looks up at her with a defeated look.
"Bruce," Spencer warns softly, "No."
Bruce tugs her back, "I'm doing it," Bruce says walking towards Val, "Everything's going to be okay," Bruce tells Val, "I got this, you wanted to know who I am?" Bruce asks, getting ready to jump down.
"What the hell are you talking about?" Val snaps at him, agitated and confused.
"You'll see," Bruce sighs before leaping out of the ship.
Spencer races to watch as Bruce soars through the air with a determined look on his face; it's momentarily awe-inspiring until Spencer realizes that Bruce is getting closer and closer to the ground and still hasn't transformed, "Come on, Bruce, what the hell!" Spencer hisses under her breath.
"He's going to die," Val says loudly with worry.
Bruce isn't transforming and suddenly hits the ground in between Fenris and Heimdall! "Bruce!" Spencer screams, watching his body hit the bridge with a dull thud, "Oh my god, oh my fucking god!" Spencer is about to jump down and help her friend, who looks like he just broke every bone in his body by the way his body is lying limp.
Fenris blinks owlishly and curiously sniffs at Bruce's body.
Spencer waits, because Bruce couldn't die. Well, it looked like he did die, but Hulk wouldn't let Bruce die. Fenris loses interest in Bruce rather quickly and begins his charge again towards Heimdall, who is standing ready to face this foe with Hofund. It was then that Spencer noticed the woman standing beside Heimdall in familiar armor.
Sif!
"I need to get down there!" Spencer is ready to jump down, Fenris is closing in, the refugees are screaming and crying in panic, but before Spencer could launch herself off. Spencer sees as Bruce suddenly explodes into the Hulk and runs after Fenris. Val is shell-shocked as Hulk manages to yank Fenris back by his tail and over to the other side of the bridge.
Now, Hulk stood in between Fenris and the refugees of Asgard.
Suddenly, the ship lurches to the side!
Spencer loses her footing and tumbles to the side, but Val catches her swiftly, "Get down there and help, I got the ship!" Val orders the younger woman roughly.
Spencer nods and drops down from the ship swiftly, she's airborne for a second before she glides over to the other side of the bridge; where Skurge is leading the undead to fight against his own people. Spencer feels a tidal wave of rage consume her; her body is tingling with power; Asgard is furious, and it was channeling their fury through Spencer.
Her feet land onto the bridge, and she feels a surge of power ripple through her; the skies are now rumbling with angry thunder as she brandishes dual swords in her hands, crafted from the glimmery bridge underneath her feet. Spencer launches herself at the horde, quickly and effectively working her way through the front line, doing her best to put herself in between the two sides, so, that the civilians who didn't have any knowledge of fighting, could rely on her to protect them.
She's backed up by Asgardians soldiers, the very few remaining.
Spencer suspected that by the end of this battle, they would cease to exist.
That only fueled her wrath.
"Get back!" Spencer ordered the soldiers at her side; once the gap between the two sides was to her liking, she had a plan, but she needed the soldiers to get back and away from her. She saw the hesitation in the soldiers, "Trust me, get back!" Spencer kept her voice steady and firm, trying her best not to snap at them.
They followed her orders as Spencer maneuvered swiftly slashing and taking down the undead warriors in front of her, trying to keep their attention on her, and not the tidal waves forming on both sides of the bridge. Spencer smirked wickedly as she brought her arms down and the giant tidal waves crashed down onto the bridge violently. Quickly, she manipulated a giant wall behind her, so that the water wouldn't hit the refugees, and jumped up onto the wall she crafted.
She watched with satisfaction as the hordes of the undead were swept away with her waves, she kept building more huge waves, getting them to crash onto the bridge repeatedly without stop.
Suddenly, a familiar voice yells out, "Your savior is here!"
Spencer's head had never whipped around so fast before; It was Loki, and he brought Thor's rebellion with him! Loki has those stupid golden horns on his head, arms spread wide, floating his massive ship towards the middle of the bridge like some Angel of Mercy. Spencer scoffed with an eye roll, "What a drama queen," Spencer muttered.
"Soldiers to the front!" Spencer yelled, before propelling herself into the air, using a cloud to glide her to the other side, where the other horde of undead warriors were still causing an issue.
She landed smoothly beside Loki, who glanced at her.
She cocked an eyebrow at him, "Thor told me you tried to betray him again." Her tone was cold and annoyed.
Loki grinned at her sheepishly, "Are you surprised?" he asks sarcastically.
Spencer levels Loki with a serious stare, "I shouldn't be, but I am," She quietly tells him before feeling a hand on her shoulder; it was Sif.
Sif looked battered, but the older woman had a grin on her face at the sight of Spencer, "You look good, my friend, I'm so glad to see you in one piece."
Spencer smiled back, trying not to get emotional as the horde of undead charged at them, "We're finally getting to fight side by side, isn't that great?" Spencer asked like an excited child.
"It is," Sif challenges her with a grin.
Spencer turns towards the horde, dual swords poised and ready, and backed up by her friends. There's a heartbeat of silence before the horde clashes with her. Spencer fights swiftly and brutally, doing her best to quickly and effectively take down her opponents. Sif and Loki are on her left and right, Heimdall in the rear. An effective killing circle with their backs covered.
Spencer feels a tingle of electricity shot down her spine; she doesn't stop swinging her blade, she can't, but she could feel something powerful taking place above them. A thunderous crack of thunder blankets the air; A gigantic strike of lightning hits the palace and runs through the entire city. Spencer looks up momentarily in shock and awe, feeling the power in the air fueling her again.
Angry clouds carrying lightning crash above them, Spencer reaches up towards the sky, feeling the strong electricity coating her fingertips; she grins darkly and pulls down, unleashing multiple strikes of lightning to kiss the bridge, hitting the middle of the horde charging at them. Sif, Heimdall, and Loki keep her safe.
"They've gotten over your wall, Spencer!" Heimdall hurriedly tells her.
Spencer whirls around, cape whooshing behind her, and watches the horde of undead she had washed off the bridge using each other to climb back onto the bridge and over her wall.
Something catches Spencer's focus; coming out of the clouds was Thor! He lands on the other side, muscles swollen, veins pulsing with electricity; he resembles a living storm. Spencer is speechless, he looked bigger and angrier.
Spencer focuses back at the enemies in front of her; there aren't many left, because something has drawn their attention from behind. Fireworks begin going off, and Spencer realizes that Val has crash-landed their ship and is now fighting the horde of undead from the other side, effectively sandwiching them. The group is making quick work of the remaining undead; though Spencer is worried about Hulk because she hasn't seen him or Fenris.
Spencer grunts as she's backhanded; it was her fault for losing focus.
Spencer's eyes narrow dangerously as she wipes the blood from the corner of her mouth, "That's not nice," She snarls, but before she could swing her sword down; the undead asshole who hit her gets blasted by an alien who looks like a pile of rocks?
Spencer blinks; all rage leaving her at the sight of this funny alien.
"Hi, my name is Korg," He introduces himself to her, "That wasn't cool what that guy did, you should never hit a woman." He tells with a serious frown.
Spencer's lips twitch upwards, "Thanks, Korg, I'm Spencer."
"Nice to meet you, Spencer, and you're very welcome!" Korg nods his head, looking very pleased.
"Spencer, are you okay?" Loki walks up to her with a frown.
"Yeah, it wasn't bad, I've taken worse," Spencer reassures as Loki guides her towards Thor; it seems that they managed to get most of the refugees into the super-cruiser. They've managed to drastically thin down the hordes of undead, and it was a relief. They hadn't been fighting long, but for Spencer, it had felt like she was fighting for eternities.
She huffed, feeling some aches and pain, but nothing too bad.
At this point, after years of saving her planet, her body was used to this sort of extreme. It felt familiar to her, almost as familiar as breathing. "You're late," Thor points out to Loki, joining the duo, Val isn't far behind. Heimdall and Sif had redirected their efforts into helping the last refugees get onto the cruiser.
"Oh my god," Spencer reaches out to tentatively touch Thor's face; his eye is missing! "Did that bitch do this to you?" Spencer demands, outraged.
Loki snickers beside her, "You're missing an eye."
Spencer snarls at Loki, and he immediately stops, "I'm fine, Spencer," Thor smiles down at her fondly. Spencer winces at the dried blood around his eye, it looked extremely painful.
Val walks up to them, "This isn't over," She jerks her head down the bridge.
The group turns their attention down the bridge. Hela is strutting towards them, seething and looking nothing short of death. Spencer sighs sadly; it was one thing to fight those pesky undead guys, but now to tag-team the Goddess of Death? Spencer wasn't sure if she could even hold her own against Hela.
"I think we should disband the Revengers," Thor suddenly speaks, looking exhausted.
"Hit her with a lightning blast!" Loki gestures towards Hela and looks at Thor pointedly.
Thor glares now, "I just hit her with biggest lightning blast in the history of lightning, it did nothing!" Thor snaps, looking agitated and offended. Val and Spencer are standing in between the two brothers, watching Hela walk towards them; menacingly and deliberately, almost as if Hela was aware how strong she was compared to them.
"We need to hold her off until everybody's board," Val reminds, watching Hela with anger and fear.
"It won't end there. The longer Hela's on Asgard, the more powerful she grows. She'll hunt us down. We need to stop her here and now." Thor states grimly, it makes the dread in Spencer's stomach twist painfully.
There was a sense of hopelessness around them.
"What's our move?" Val finally asks.
"Just for the record," Loki speaks up, "I'm not doing 'Get help',"
Spencer and Val look at Loki in confusion.
"Asgard's not a place, it's a people," Thor says softly.
Spencer looks over to Thor, who is standing a few feet ahead of them, watching Hela, before turning to face them, "This was never about stopping Ragnarök, it was about causing Ragnarök," Thor turns to Loki, "Go to the vault. Surtur's crown, it's the only way." Thor orders Loki.
Loki looks mildly impressed, "Bold move, brother," Loki smirks, "Even for me." Loki turns, glancing briefly at Spencer, before leaving them to deal with Hela.
"Spencer," Thor grasps her hand.
Spencer turns towards her friend, "Don't-"
"I made a promise," Thor tells her softly; his eyes are determined, "I made a promise to bring you back home, back to Pietro. I need to keep that promise."
Spencer shakes her head, "And you will, but I am not backing down. I won't back down." Spencer tells him firmly, "Best friends, remember?" Spencer smiles gently at him, although her chest is seizing in fear right now.
Thor looks sad, "If it looks bad, get back to the ship, promise?" Thor rumbles quietly. His eyes daring her to lie to him, to promise something she knew she wouldn't listen to. Spencer was a lot of things, but she knew better to break a promise.
She gave a small nod of her head.
"Shall we?" Thor gestures towards Hela.
"After you," Val stands on Spencer's other side, "Let's see how powerful you are, Spencer." Val challenged with a smirk.
Spencer cocked an eyebrow, a strange feeling rumbling in her stomach. She could die today, but she wouldn't let that happen. She wanted to go see Pietro, Wanda, Steve, and Nat and Clint. She wanted to see her dad and Godfather. No, she was totally not dying today.
Thor attacks Hela first. They clash, kicking off this monumental confrontation. Hela manifests pitch black weapons to attack Thor, but Thor is conjuring powerful bolts of electricity with the same speed and ferocity. Just as Thor is surging with newfound lightning powers, Hela's powers seem to be enhanced as well. The battle is relentless and fast-paced. Thor is holding his own against Hela. Maybe they can win this thing. After several fearsome exchanges, Hela punctures his shoulder and then darts past him with startling speed.
Towards Val and Spencer.
Both women ready their themselves; Spencer's heart is beating wildly in her chest. But Thor rushes Hela again, undeterred. Valkyrie joins in, forcing Hela to fight them both. Spencer watches momentarily, noticing that Hela is deliberately dragging out the fight, inching closer and closer to the Ark.
Spencer turns, watching as Heimdall and Sif manage to get the last few refugees onto the Ark. Heimdall locks eyes on Spencer, seeing that cold determination on her face, Spencer nods. Heimdall gives her a solemn look before disappearing into the ark.
Spencer looks back to Thor and Val, tag-teaming Hela, but Hela is quickly wearing them down. Spencer hears the engines of the Ark beginning to power up. Hela notices this also. Spencer takes a deep breath, summoning the life-force of Asgard into her body, before the earth begins to rumble.
It shakes the bridge violently.
It causes Hela to stumble.
Spencer cracks the bridge; separating them from the Ark. Spencer exhales and takes a steady stance, facing away from Hela and forms a crack into the earth below. Thor and Val are instantly on Hela, trying to distract her away from Spencer. Spencer breathes noisily as she moves away the tonnes of water in her way, manipulating it away from the crack she made into the earth; she creates a crater and summons the deadliest element she could get her hands on.
Spencer immediately feels the heat at the tip of her fingertips; barely there, but as she readies herself to do something that could seriously injure herself, she calms her mind. Hela couldn't withstand lava, could she?
The earth shakes again, a tidal wave of lava springs up from the crack; Spencer winces at the heat that sears her fingertips; her advanced abilities already working to soothe and heal the skin. Hela's head snaps towards Spencer; a snarl on the woman's face. Hela is fed up, and quickly gets rid of Thor and Val.
"No!" Thor roars, but Hela harpoons Thor with a giant spear.
Hela rushes towards Spencer; but Spencer keeps her eyes locked onto Hela.
"Spencer, wait!" Thor roars.
Spencer smiles and brings down the tidal wave of lava on top of them. There's boiling heat surrounding her; there's a heartbeat of silence that washes over her. Spencer times it as good as she can, before solidifying the lava around her body. She could feel the heat of the lava washing over her; she's scared.
Her little lava rock cocoon creaks in protest at the aggressive weight of the lava washing over them. Spencer moves her arms from inside to throw the lava back down into the crack after a few seconds. Her fingertips are screaming in pain, but she does her best to push past it.
She cracks her cocoon, hoping that the lava didn't stray towards Thor and Val.
Hela is nowhere to be found.
Thor and Val are backed away a safe distance; both panting and injured. Spencer rushes towards them as the Ark begins to take off, "Are you guys alright?" Spencer asks, breathlessly. Note to herself: manipulating lava takes a lot of energy.
"Your fingers," Val gulps, horrified.
"Yeah, they'll heal," Spencer shrugs; happy that Hela had been defeated even for a few moments.
"Spencer, get onto the Ark, use your abilities to get it out of here." Thor orders.
Spencer nods, summoning some lava rock to fashion some wings; it was one of her favorite things to do. "Good luck, I doubt I killed her." Spencer says with a shrug, before flying up towards the Ark, but before Spencer could reach the Ark; Hela appears.
A giant, black spike shoots out from the bedrock of Asgard and stabs the Ark! Spencer narrowly misses slamming into the giant vessel as it sways from the collision. Hela is at the bottom of the spike; oh yeah, she looks pissed!
Undead soldiers are scrambling up the spike and into the Ark.
"Spencer, go!" Thor roars at her as both him and Val rush Hela.
Spencer makes a slashing motion with her hand towards the giant, black spike, and a burst of wind cuts the spike in half. Spencer flies up towards the top of the Ark; her body is already aching in protest, but Spencer has to keep pushing.
Spencer gets into another steady stance; the metal under her feet encasing her feet to keep her steady. Spencer begins to gather as much air as possible, pushing it underneath the Ark, and then pulling it up; it feels as if she's trying to move a mountain, and it's hurting like a bitch.
Spencer grits her teeth as she repeats the motion. Spencer vaguely hears the sounds of gunshots going off inside the Ark, and tries not to think about it too much, otherwise she'll lose her focus. When Spencer peaks over to the bridge; Hela is already setting her sights onto her, "Shit," Spencer mutters to herself as the Ark is gaining a speed boost. Spencer takes another deep breath and begins to hide the Ark behind a thick cloud.
Suddenly, someone yells out Hela's name.
Spencer is torn between staying with the Ark or going back down to help her friends, but something tells her to stay on the Ark. Spencer quickly enters the Ark, trying to find Heimdall and Sif. People are thanking her and guiding her towards the back of the cruiser, overlooking Asgard.
"Heimdall," Spencer calls, grabbing his attention.
Sif is with him, "You look terrible," Sir murmurs, gently grasping her shoulder.
Before Spencer could get a word in, there's a giant explosion that shakes even the Ark. Spencer looks and see a ginormous monster made out of lava? Spencer was assuming it was Surtur, and he looked pissed. The palace is already gone, and it seems Surtur is growing in size, and in his hands is an equally ginormous flaming sword that is growing with him.
Spencer's jaw drops in horror.
Surtur's arrival literally shakes the bedrock of Asgard, causing fissures to spiderweb all around him, and dislodging some foundations on the bridge and around the palace. Surtur is roaring about something, Spencer can't make out the words, since she's so far away, but she's watching as Surtur continues to grow and swing his sword down onto the city; it breaks Spencer's heart.
She can feel the connection to Asgard, dying.
Her heart constricts at this horrendous scene, "What about Thor, Val, and Hulk?" Spencer mutters to herself, keeping an eye out for her friends; they were barely reaching Asgard's lower orbit, when a spec of green is flying towards them.
Spencer lets out a sigh of relief at the sight of Hulk carrying Val and Thor in his arms. It doesn't take long for the trio to get up to the upper level to watch Surtur destroy Asgard and Hela desperately trying to fend him off. Spencer's eyes watch with a dull, numb feeling as Surtur drives his sword right through Asgard.
Spencer winces as a sharp pain hits her; in her head, she could hear Asgard screaming. Spencer steadies herself, realizing that Thor is calling her name, "I can feel Asgard dying," Spencer whispers with grief and Thor's face turns grim.
For some reason, Korg decides to talk, "he damage is not too bad. As long as the foundations are strong, we can rebuild this place. It will become a haven for all people and aliens of the universe…" He's trying to lighten the mood, but it's blown apart when there's a violent detonation of energy as Surtur's sword hits its mark.
A cataclysmic earthquake destroys the city and the entire realm is split in two, another beat, and Asgard is blown to pieces right in front of their eyes. Spencer's heart stutters as she witnesses a planet being destroyed, it makes her stomach sick. That could happen to her home, that could've happened if Ultron succeeded. Her knees feel wobbly, and she slowly kneels onto the floor in shock.
"Nope, those foundations are gone, sorry!" Korg meekly apologizes to the silent room.
Spencer can hear people crying out for their lost home, others are too numb to react. She stares blankly at what remains of Thor's home, and she's frightened. "What have I don?" Thor looks devastated; rethinking his decision.
Heimdall is there to reassure him, "You saved us from extinction," Spencer feels the tears going down her face, "Asgard is not a place, it's a people." He recites Thor's earlier words. All there is left is the silence of devastation.
Spencer is curled on Thor's bed; she's tired beyond belief and frightened, too. Seeing Asgard destroyed was a terrifying experience. Thor, being attentive of her, let her stay in his room to sleep while he freshened up.
It had only been a day, but Spencer felt strange.
Thor was pouring himself a drink; their wounds had been cleaned, treated, and bandaged; along with his eye. Spencer watched quietly as Thor stares at himself through the mirror, trying to get used to the sight of his new eye-patch. Thor glances at her momentarily before movement from the door catches their attention.
Spencer sits up, "Loki!"
Loki smiles at them, "You both look horrible," Loki says softly, eyes lingering on Spencer's tired form before moving onto Thor, "It suits you," He adds carrying in a tray of food and moves towards Spencer, "Sif was adamant that you eat, Spencer."
Loki takes a seat beside her and passes her a bowl of delicious broth. Spencer had been asleep for a majority of the day; she had pushed herself too far yesterday, both mentally and physically. She smiled at Loki, "Thank you," She murmurs, inhaling the delicious aroma before taking sips.
"Perhaps you're not so bad after all, brother," Thor muses, watching the interaction intently.
Loki chuckles, "Maybe not,"
"Thank you, Loki," Thor says with genuine emotion.
"How did you make it out?" Spencer asks curiously.
Loki huffs, "I barely made it back to the ship before Surtur destroyed the palace," Loki explains nonchalantly, "I managed to dodged most of the debris once the planet was destroyed and sat on top drowning in my own thoughts for a while," Loki looked at her, "How are you holding up? I hear you're taking it hard."
Spencer looked down at her bowl with a faraway look in her eyes, "I'm scared," She answers truthfully, "To witness something like that," She shakes her head with a sniffle, "It's almost unbelievable, and I witnessed it, ya know?" Her hand trembles, "It's a lot of process. This whole adventure almost seems like a dream…" Her hands grip her bowl tightly and she wants to cry so badly because she misses her family and friends, but she really misses Pietro.
Selfishly, Spencer is wanting comfort, and she shouldn't be acting like this, Thor and Loki just lost their home, and here she was about to cry her heart out. So, she was surprised when Loki wrapped his arm around her shoulders and gently tugged her to his side; a hug.
Spencer blinked once, twice, and thrice before looking at Loki.
Her eyes were glassy, but Loki was watching her closely, "We're here for you."
"You two just lost your home," Spencer's voice is strained and cracking, "I feel so horrible!" She admits to them.
Thor joins them and sits on her other side, "Do not feel guilty of the way you feel, Spencer, what you just witnessed would scare anyone, hell, it scared me! I can't imagine how you must feel, considering you had never even left Earth until a few months ago! We've gone through our fair share of trauma's, but you shouldn't feel guilty, we've gone through something together, it's only fair that you feel the same way we do, even if it isn't in the same magnitude."
"I was scared, too," Loki admits calmly, "Watching Asgard crumble felt as if someone was driving a knife through my heart, but at least we are safe now."
"Thank you," Spencer sniffles feeling small but comforted between Loki and Thor, "And I'm sorry about your home, it can't be easy seeing that."
"It isn't, but at least our people are safe." Thor amends softly.
"We can always rebuild," Loki nods in agreement.
"Speaking of, where exactly are we going?" Spencer questions finishing her bowl of broth.
"I have a vague idea," Thor says with a grin.
Spencer and Loki exchange knowing looks, "You already know where we're going, why are you acting coy?" Spencer deadpans.
Loki chuckles in response.
Thor bellows a laugh, "To keep you in suspense!"
Spencer smiles fondly at Thor and some of her fear is washed away; she misses home, and she's thrilled to be heading back now. Tucked between these two men gives her the type of comfort she needed to help herself feel better. It would be a long journey home, but it would be worth it. Asgard would prosper on Earth; Spencer was sure about that. Odin had complimented her planet, and it was his final resting place. It would make sense why Thor had already decided to take the remainder of his people there to rebuild their future.
For the moment, she felt content and relieved.
Nothing could ruin this moment.
TA DA! WE HAVE FINALLY MADE IT TO THE END OF THOR: RAGNORAK! Woooow, guys, I am so tired right now lmao. I have been typing this for the last six hours! My back hurts, but I was determined to finish this chapter and movie! I am going to be blunt, I don't like certain scenes, so once I have a few days to refresh myself, I might re-write Spencer's fight scenes. I'm not too happy with them, tbh. So, if you feel the same, dw, I am going to probably re-write them.
Next chapter, we get to finally move onto Endgame which is super exciting and it's gonna break my heart, too. I have certain plans for the next movie, I think you guys will definitely enjoy the route I'm going on. Very soon, we will reunite Pietro and Spencer! Now that I think about it, I might be a bonus chapter next chapter, or maybe a bonus chapter after the next chapter. I dunno, I have to re-watch Endgame to make sure I have everything planned out correctly. So, the next chapter might take a while to get posted. Not too long of a wait though.
Thank you all for your support and patience throughout this series, I'm very happy that I forced myself to push through this story this far. I'm hoping with all my heart to see this through until the very end! Sorry for any errors you may have seen, I will proof-read tomorrow :)
