Kitchen
Morning
"What the bloody hell are Nik and Marcel doing? They should have been back an hour ago," Rebekah said pouring her sister another drink.
"It's probably too early for us to be drinking, but I'm on vacation, right? Anyway, do you really want to know where they are?" Freya asked pointedly.
"No, I suppose not. With the full moon ritual tomorrow, I guess we are a little on edge. It's a dangerous spell and I don't like Davina doing it. Thank you for helping, Sister," Rebekah confided.
"Of course. I appreciate you understanding why I can't leave the girls alone. They had written off their parents and siblings, but they were still their family. I noticed they are at each other's throats today. I just want to scream, 'Get along', but I guess that won't help," Freya muttered.
"Oh, don't be too sure. Our mother had a way of shutting down our arguments pretty quickly...," Rebekah said pointing at the spoons as she took a gulp of her vodka and tonic.
"I know I need to punish them for taking off and the drugs, but I am not sure I am up to it. Is it awful that I wish Keelin were here to do it? Or Elijah?" Freya admitted wrying.
"No, but can't you just ground them or put them in therapy?" Rebekah said pouring more vodka into their cups.
"Yes, I think the therapy is a given, but it's not a consequence, or I don't want it to be. And they go out so little, I almost have to force them to go out with the other kids. I really feel like they don't know how to socialize and have fun without the alcohol and drugs. When we get back, I am going to try to get them in some 'normal' activities, maybe some sports. I don't know," Freya debated.
"That sounds good. Look, Freya. I feel like the worst is over. Kai is doing pretty well considering. The girls are going to get there, it just takes time," Rebekah admitted.
Freya nodded, "You are right. Hey, I stashed the weed and the smokes in that old dumbwaiter. I better get them out and pitch them before I forget."
Freya went to the side of the kitchen and fished out the bag she hid. She didn't want to tempt the twins or anyone to indulge.
"Can we just throw this crap in the dumpster? Wait, there is something else here?" Freya said pulling out an old box.
"Oh my God, I don't believe it," Rebekah squealed.
"What is it?" Freya laughed at her sister's excitement.
"Open it," Rebekah prompted. Freya took the lid off of the box and found an old square hairbrush.
"Your old hairbrush? Why was it hidden?" Freya mused.
Klaus and Marcel walked in arm in arm. Marcel stopped dead.
"Oh no, that's not that the spelled brush, is it? Who in the hell found that?" Marcel whined.
Klaus reached over and grabbed it, "We lost this beauty a century ago! Someone want to fill me in?"
Rebekah grinned, "Oh Nik, I think you better ask Kol about that when you get back to Mystic Falls."
Freya yelled, "What is magical about this stupid brush?"
"It impedes all healing. An old witch friend of Kol's spelled it in the 1910s for us to keep him in line. Strangely the brush mysteriously disappeared after we used it one time," Klaus said meaningfully looking at Marcel.
"Papa, it wasn't me I swear. I just hope I never get paddled again with that damn thing! It's was like nothing I ever felt before. I don't even want to look at it," Marcel said kissing Rebekah and leaving the kitchen.
"Well, it might not even work anymore. I know two young vampires who are due a spanking, though. May I, Brother?" Freya said holding out her hand.
"Oh indeed. Why do I have a feeling that Freya has a new toy?" Klaus cringed putting his arm around Rebekah.
"As you always say, 'Behave and you need not worry about it,' right, Nik? Now, can I fix you a gin and tonic? I'm so sorry about Father Kieran. Sit down," Rebekah fussed.
Guest Room
One Minute Earlier
Dana was holding Rachael over the balcony edge. "Say it again, bitch!"
"You're a slut!" Rachael gasped. Kai vamped out and grabbed Dana.
"What the hell are you doing? Trying to cause a major seen? People are watching!" Kai scolded.
"She's a fucking traitor," Dana spat. Rachael then spit on Dana and the two grappled for another minute. Freya burst in.
"What is going on here?" Freya shouted.
Kai was done. "I tried to stop them from fighting, but it's impossible. They almost threw each other off the balcony."
"I think they call this a gallery because it's bigger than a balcony, but anyway, I'm going to put a stop to this nonsense right now!" Freya informed them.
Kai saw the hairbrush in her hand and made his way out of the room to go pack. He had a blood bag that he was sipping on, but staying busy also helped him deal with the cravings.
"Girls, come in and sit down, unless you want to get a spanking right here in view of all the tourists!" Freya ordered lightly.
"A spanking, really? For fighting? Isn't that counterproductive?" Dana scoffed.
"Don't think you can talk your way out of punishment right now. And you're not getting spanked for fighting, but for running off and buying drugs. You know that. I thought that talking to you in a mature and calm fashion might be enough, but I see I was wrong," Freya reprimanded.
"We're sorry! We are just upset," Rachael tried.
"Rachael, I have tried to give you every break in the world, but each time I feel like you defy me or disobey me. Maybe this hairbrush will have better luck than my lectures in getting through to you," Freya speculated sadly.
"It looks old and heavy," Dana surmised.
"I just found it or rather it found me after being lost in the house for over a century...It was spelled by a witch to prevent healing," Freya shared.
"Really? That sounds horrible," Rachael entreated.
"Some of things you girls have done have been horrible: running away from Marcel, buying drugs, cigarettes, the fighting, the rudeness, and just your attitudes that you can still do whatever you want without consequence. Girls, it is dangerous out there. We can't keep you safe when we don't know where you are," Freya specified.
"That is true. Sorry about that," Dana attested.
"And the rest?" Freya prompted.
"We fight. It's our business," Rachael sassed.
"No, honey. If you toss each other off balconies, that is something more. It's done. I don't care if you are twins or not, no more of this. You treat each other with respect or you will be separated. Got it," Freya threatened.
"You can't do that," Dana blustered.
"Dana, I don't want to. I want you to be happy and healthy. Now, stop trying to stall, this is happening," Freya said firmly. "If I have to use magic or count to three, you are getting another spanking when we get back to Mystic Falls tonight. I would hate for that to happen so please cooperate."
Freya took Dana by the arm, "Come on, Dana. Rachael, go stick your nose in a corner, please." Dana found herself fighting to hold up her pajama pants. Freya picked up the brush and swatted Dana a few times on the upper thigh before she compiled.
"Ouch! No! Please!" Dana wailed as she felt the sharp sting on the back of her legs.
"Move your hands, I am going to bare your bottom. Dana, I am going to start counting and you don't want that," Freya growled. Dana finally moved her hands and Freya shucked her pants and underwear to her knees. Freya sat far back on the bed and took her freckled red haired daughter over her lap. With her hand, Freya began to pat her bare bottom lightly.
"Honey, I love you so much. We could have lost you when you were missing and I never want to feel that again," Freya shared.
"You wont't," Dana said urgently. She didn't want to be in this position and hoped to be out of it soon.
They heard a knock at the door, "It's Marcel. Can I come in?"
Freya sighed, "Hang on." She upended Dana and pulled her pj bottoms back up.
"Temporary reprieve, hon," Freya said tapping her once lightly on the backside.
"Ugh, it's torture," Dana grumbled.
"Marcel, come in," Freya said.
"I'm sorry to interrupt. First of all, that hairbrush is a nightmare. I know because it was used on me and I about jumped outta my skin. Second, the girls ran away from me, so I thought maybe I out to be the one to deal with this if you think I should. My dad talked to me at the church about the other thing and I'm sorry about that, too," Marcel admitted.
Freya stood up and wrapped her arms around him, "Thank you, Marcellus. I forgive you. As long as it doesn't happen again, we are good. I would like your help. These girls are squirmers and with the brush, I don't want them reaching back. I can hold their hands. I'm assuming their pants won't be much protection from the brush."
"I wouldn't know rightly, but I would assume not," Marcel grinned. He was relieved he was good with Freya and wanted to clear things up with the girls.
"Dana?" Marcel asked. She tended to braid her hair, both girls wore the siphon bracelet to prevent them from siphoning, but other than that, Dana wore looser clothes.
"Yes, sir," Dana said pitifully. "I'm ready."
Marcel grabbed her hand and led her over to stand in front of him.
"I ought to let Josh give you a piece of his mind, too. We had no idea where you went. I can't believe you would buy drugs and cigarettes after I took you to a witch shop and let you buy whatever you want. Is that how you get people to trust you?" Marcel asked.
"No, I'm sorry. I didn't think we'd get kidnapped...or caught," Dana confessed.
"I know. We'll take care of this right now. Just keep in mind that you brought this on yourself," Marcel said. He quickly pulled her over his lap and begun to swat her firmly with the brush over the seat of her pajama pants. At first, Dana felt confident that she could handle the spanking with grace and maturity but after twenty good whacks she was shouting and writhing.
"Stop! Please, it stings too much," Dana said as she broke. Freya gripped her hands and Marcel let her kick her legs as much as possible as he gave her another twenty swats. Dana was in tears and her bottom was burning when she was finally stood up. She tried to rub until Freya gave her a sharp smack and steered her back into the corner with a warning to behave and stand still.
Rachael didn't want to come out of the corner. Marcel ended up going to get her and jackknifing her over his knee in a nearby chair. He patted her behind with the hard brush and Rachael realized that there was not going to be a warm up spanking today. It was a less comfortable position and he peppered her rear a little harder starting off with the brush for the first twenty. She thought that she wouldn't feel much over her cotton underwear and sleep pants, but she was wrong.
"You ready to listen, Rachael?" Marcel said rubbing the smooth wood of the brush against her clothed behind as a warning to respond.
"Yes! I am," Rachael shot out.
"We care a great deal about both of you. We love you and if something would happen because you followed going around with your sister, that would be a real shame. You need to stand up for yourself and be your own person. You can do it," Marcel reassured her.
"Okay. Sorry about taking off. You were nice to us," Rachael said already weeping.
"Almost all done. Twenty more. One paddling with this brush and I have a feeling that Freya is gonna see a much better attitude out of you girls, right?" Marcel said winking at Freya. He smacked down the brush for the last twenty using his wrist. Marcel didn't want to hit too hard. Without their healing in effect, just a light tap was a shock. A harder whack stung, but a hard swat would be agony.
Rachael screamed and kicked almost off his lap. Crack! Crack! Crack! Crack! Each whack eventually dissolved into a constant aching burn that was sharp and fierce. She didn't realize the paddling was over until she heard Marcel's voice.
"All forgiven. Shhh, come here," Marcel lifted her into a hug and let her cry into his shoulder.
Freya went to get Dana and she was much more resistant to Freya's comfort. She turned away from her attempts to hold her.
"Dana, you can be angry at me all you want, but know that I love you. I won't leave you again," Freya said softly. Freya kissed Dana and tried to hug her but Dana turned away. The red hair just folded her arms and refused to look at Freya.
Marcel looked at Dana wryly, "Dana, it's over. Freya didn't know you were missing when she left. That was on me, not her. In the end, you did something wrong, you were punished, let it go."
"Freya, Marcel, I am sorry," Dana said starting to weep again. This time Freya did put her arms around her. A part of her had thought Freya abandoned them.
"I know," Freya said. Freya's eyes met Marcel's and she mouthed thank you. He smiled and handed her the brush which she tucked in her back pocket.
"After lunch, the jet should be fueled and ready to leave. I hope the next visit will involve less kidnapping, though," Marcel grinned.
"Us, too," Dana sniffed now rubbing her backside. Since the brush was tucked away she was starting to heal, but the memory of that spanking would be burned into her memory forever.
"Okay, girls. We'll let you get dressed. You okay?" Freya asked concerned. They said they were and Freya felt like the tension was out of the room.
After Marcel shut the door, Freya turned, "So your dad spoke to you?"
"He did some of that talking with one of those bamboo garden stakes, but I got the point. No more lying. I am sorry. I just didn't want to admit that I screwed up. Not the first time my pride has gotten me in trouble, probably not the last," Marcel replied.
"Thank you for coming up and helping. They are a handful for me to deal with myself. So that brush is really that stingy? Worse than a regular one?" Freya pressed.
"When you're a vampire, you heal quickly, as you know, but you also feel things more intensely sometimes so...I'm not sure what that witch did, but yeah it's bad," Marcel winced thinking back to his own experience with it.
"I'll study it and see if I can reverse engineer the spell. The witch must have been very talented, creative even," Freya said in awe.
"Yeah, I guess that's one way to look at it. I'm going to call Sean and see if Father Kieran is any better today," Marcel said pulling out his phone.
"Marcel, I am so sorry that we couldn't help," Freya repeated.
"I know," Marcel said patting her hand.

Louisiana Bayou
7:30 am
Mason ended up sleeping on Jackson and Oliver's floor. It was tight, but Mary wouldn't let him sleep on the porch while there was still space inside.
"So you came down here looking for an alpha?" Ollie asked as the guys were talking before getting up.
"Yeah, I also had met a girl. It's kind of a long story," Mason grimaced.
"This sounds interesting," Jackson added.
"No, she wasn't any good. Left me high and dry, now look at me. Estranged from my family, no job, nothing to my name. Hell, I could have been torn limb from limb for helping that witch," Mason fumed.
"What are you planning to do?" Ollie asked.
"I guess go back to Mystic Falls and try to make things right with my nephew. Our family home is huge and my sister in law must be living in it by herself. I should have been the one who stood up for my nephew, not some vampire, but that's on me," Mason remarked.
"Hey, those vamps are getting us all moonlight rings tomorrow. That ain't all bad," Jackson stated.
"We shall see, young wolf, we shall see," Mason said getting up for the day.
Jackson and Ollie looked at each other and Ollie shrugged. They didn't know what Mason was talking about.
Ollie cursed, "Oh shit, did you do your history report? I forgot again!"
"Oliver, are you serious? Grandma asked you twice yesterday. Why did you lie?" Jackson scolded now getting up himself.
"I thought I could get up early and do it this morning!" Oliver reasoned.
"You've never gotten up that early! You best just try at breakfast," Jackson retorted.
"Nah, I can do it on the bus," Ollie said nervously.
"No, you can't," Jackson denied him.
"Grandma will wear me out if I get busted again for lying," Oliver worried.
"Yup, I reckon she will," Jackson said plainly as he went to the bathroom. He dressed quickly and then went out to see Hayley, Aiden, and Tommy at breakfast.
Mary came out, holding Oliver's arm and swatting him soundly.
"Go, get started now. We'll talk about it later. Just get your work done now, you stubborn wolf!" Mary roared.
"Yes, ma'am," Oliver said sitting down and opening his notebook to an empty page.
"Gram, we have football practice after school today," Jackson reminded her.
"I'll just have to whup Ollie after that," Mary said evenly as she got breakfast food together and started to put it on their plates.
"I'm getting it done!" Ollie muttered.
Aiden rolled his eyes at Oliver's antics, he really pulled this crap at least once or twice a week.
Mason was amused, "I never finished school myself."
"See? I would just drop out if I could...," Oliver shared.
"No, Oliver, I regret it. Now, I have no job. No future. I don't know what I can do with my life. Surfing just didn't pan out and now I'm left with nothing," Mason admitted.
"Ain't your family real rich, though, Mason? Y'all got that big house," Tommy responded.
"My nephew will inherit that house and property. It always goes to the first born son in the family. I had a trust fund, but I blew through it when I was 21. Stupidly," Mason reported.
Mary intoned, "We can all learn from our mistakes. You are still young, Mason. Now, eat up before I show you how I treat bad, little wolves around here!" Mary guffawed.
The other kids laughed, Mary rarely joked.
"She just threatened to lick you with a fly swatter, Mason. You best listen," Jackson laughed.
"I love these grits, Mary. Thank you kindly," Mason said eating suddenly.
"The rest of you, five minutes," Mary reminded them.
"Hayley, what are your plans? Didn't you say you were planning to go to Mystic Falls with Marcel?" Mason asked.
"I came here to dig up dirt on my family. But now, I'm not sure I want to know. We're getting the moonlight rings either way. I think I might just sit this round out. What about you?" Hayley asked as she got up and put her plate in the sink.
"I'm not sure. I am torn. Mystic Falls holds a lot of painful memories, but it is home. I am not sure I can see my nephew with a new family. To me, he should be living in our family home with his mother. That's what my late brother would want, but my brother was a dick so...," Mason said without thinking.
"What did you say, boy?" Mary chastised as she reached for her swatter. Mason popped up and almost made it out of the kitchen before he caught five blows on his backside from Mary. She was stronger than she looked, faster too.
"Sorry, ma'am. I didn't mean to curse!" Mason yelped as Mary smacked him again hard.
"See that you don't. A good southern boy don't curse at the table. Now, the rest of you to the bus stop and Mason can help me clean up. Have a good day. Behave," Mary warned looking at Oliver.
"What do you always look at me?" Oliver growled. Mary grabbed him and kissed him on the cheek and then patted Jack and the rest as they filed out.
Mason started to clear the table, but he had to figure how what to do about getting back to Mystic Falls.
That girl he had fallen in love with, her name was Katherine.
