Chapter 310: Arc 18: Explosive?! The Handcuffs that Shackle Yamato's Freedom!
"You know Ace?" Luffy gawked.
"Yeah." Yamato nodded. "He came here once to take Kaido's head. He talked a lot about you. When he and his group were leaving, I actually wanted to go on an adventure with them. But there's a reason why I can't go." she showed Luffy her shackles.
At the rear entrance of Onigashima...
"Captain, we aren't fighting alongside them?" Bepo asked when Law started walking off.
"I have my own purpose." Law responded. "Come with me."
"Law-dono." Raizo started. "Thank you for everything. I wish you the best of luck. Everybody, are you ready?" he turned back to the entrance.
"Of course." Cat Viper replied. "I'm glad that I made it."
"One cat isn't so great a reinforcement." Dogstorm teased.
"Can you say that after seeing this?" Cat Viper flashed his new double-barreled gun. "Isn't it cool? This will fill Kaido with bullets."
"Our lives were saved by Oden-sama." Raizo declared. "Let's wager those lives tonight."
"They're coming." Ashura warned when a wave of snow clashed down in front of them.
"They're..." Kawamatsu snarled, seeing a pair of headless samurai galloping towards them in the midst of the snow. He and Ashura took the lead and took down the two samurai.
"They..." Cat Viper noted, the two defeated samurai dissolved into drawing outlines.
"Must've been drawn by him." Kawamatsu sheathed his sword.
"Is he up there?" Cat Viper sensed Kanjuro's presence.
"I knew you would come." Kanjuro exited the entrance with his troops. "Though we couldn't find any sign of samurai warriors entering, it was hard to believe that you guys weren't here. I know how persistent you guys are more than anyone."
"Kanjuro, did you betray us?" Izo snapped.
"I won't let you raid us." Kanjuro declared. "Izo, you're back to fight this losing battle?"
"Warriors who fight even after their heads have been severed." Izo noticed the two headless samurai with Kanjuro. "Nicely drawn."
"They look like you guys, don't they?" Kanjuro mocked. "Even after you lost Oden as your head, you loser samurai still wiggle like worms."
"So, that's who you really are." Izo noted. "What a great actor."
"We still have our head." Raizo barked. "Our lord is Momonosuke-sama."
"That bratty coward?" Kanjuro sneered. "He isn't fit to be lord! It's all thanks to the Kozuki that the Kurozumi endured such humiliation!"
"Don't mess with us, Kanjuro!" Kawamatsu roared.
"To fulfill Oden-sama's long-cherished dream that he entrusted to us, we endured hardships." Raizo growled. "Kept low profiles for 20 years and even traveled through time. We're not going to stop here. If you try to stop us, we'll just slice you up and carry on."
"All right." Kanjuro drawled. "In that case, we must fight and have it out with you here." we'll not only stop you, but fight you revenge-thirsty Akazaya and eliminate you to the last man."
"Kanjuro!" the gathered Akazaya roared at their former comrade.
"Advance!" Kanjuro gave the order.
"Kappa Style: Yorikiri." Kawamatsu took out his portion of enemies.
"Flower Shuriken!" Raizo's throwing stars embedded into the enemies' bodies.
Izo's bullets shot right in the middle of the enemy Gifters' foreheads.
"What's the matter, Kiku?" Kanjuro smirked, left alone with the younger samurai. "Aren't you gonna attack me?"
"Before that, let me ask you something." Kiku requested. "I know you deceived us. But we spend a lot of time together, too. Was it really all a lie? Was there no truth in our friendship?"
"I'm so happy." Kanjuro smirked. "To hear such compliments on my acting. You're still trying to believe in me after a betrayal like that, which means I played my role quite well, right? I told you; I became emotionally numb when I was a child. That's why I could smile when you guys were around, even though I wasn't having fun. And I could cry even though I wasn't sad. Now I'm filled with feelings again, Kiku. My acting was perfect, right? That's right, cry your eyes out." he mocked. "The more you cry, the more I can feel that my acting was worthwhile. The more I can feel that I successfully fulfilled my role."
"Please cease speaking, Kanjuro." Kiku steeled herself. "To me, Evening Shower Kanjuro, was a precious friend." she donned her helmet. "Prepare yourself." she drew her sword. "The wound from this sword will follow you to your grave; just like snow remaining in the spring, it'll continue to torment your soul."
"Bring it on, Kiku." Kanjuro accepted the challenge and the two adversaries clashed.
With Luffy and Yamato...
"I, as Kozuki Oden, thought you, Ace's brother, would let me on board your ship so I gathered info on you." Yamato admitted.
"Everyone loves Kozuki Oden." Luffy stated. "You can't just be him."
"I know you're more Oden than me." Yamato fumed. "Although I'm Oden, I'm not free, because of these cuffs. I wanted to set out to sea along with Ace and the others, but I've been held captive on this island since I was eight. My father said they'd explode if I left the island. To be honest, I think he might've lied. Because what kind of parent would blow up their own son? But when I think of the worst scenario, I feel weak in the knees, because my father is that jerk."
"Do you want me to take them off?" Luffy offered. "Do you really wanna fight alongside us? Even if you're there, I'll be kicking Kaido's ass in front of you."
"I wish I could do it myself." Yamato confessed. "I don't know how many times I've been beaten by him since I was a kid. Even time I challenged him, I got defeated."
"Okay, I'll take them off for you." Luffy stated.
SailorStar9: Any OOC-nes is regretted. *Sighs* Don't you just hate plot bunnies sometimes? Reviews are much appreciated.
