Hey everyone. This story is a little idea I got from reading a Youjo Senki/ Fantasy crossover and Dragonearth. I don't know if I will continue it. But I wanted to get this out of my head. Let me know what you think.
Chapter 1: Awakening
In the beginning there was a stirring sensation. The creature could feel the warm liquid surrounding it swaying back and forth. Strange noises muffled by something reached its ears. For only a moment it twitched before losing consciousness again.
After an unknown amount of time passed the creature awoke again. It's head reared back and impacted again a hard surface. Liquid stirred about from the impact and splashed against its body. Next it tried to move its legs but was again stopped by a hard surface. Feeling anxious from the tight space the creature wiggled and thrashed about. But eventually it tired and dipped its head into the liquid and drank to satisfy its thirst.
The creature was now much stronger after some time had passed. It clawed and kicked against its now empty prison. All liquid had been drunk by the creature and it knew by instinct that it could not allow the statis quo to continue. With great effort the creatures claws finally broke through. On the other side it could see a dim lit cavern.
With one final push the walls broke apart and fresh air filled its lungs for the first time. Its instincts screamed at it so it raised its head and let out a roar of triumph. Or rather a squeak.
The creature free from the egg stretched its limbs. It's tail flicked back and forth with excitement. There was a pause.
The creature quickly turned its head and inspected its body. Silver scales lined its body. On its sides near the back two flesh bag pulsed with energy. From the depths of its primitive brain it knew those would burst and reveal her wings.
Primitive?
The creature sat on its hind legs and inspected its front limbs. Her claws were black as the night and looked incredibly sharp.
Her?
Something was wrong, it knew this to be true. But for the life of it she could not figure out what. It's icy blue eyes narrowed, the slit pupils contracting.
What am I?
She could feel something was missing. But she wasn't able to pin down what was wrong with any certainty so she decided to follow instinct instead. Walking on all four limbs she looked around the cavern. Despite its low light she could see perfectly fine. Her claws easily cut into the stone floor as she made her way around.
She noticed that there was no other creature or signs of another creature living here.
How was I born?
She turned to face the egg she had hatched from only to see it starting to dissolve into the air. Particles of light in a vast array of colors was all she could see as they rose into the air and vanished. The egg she had hatched from was gone. But that didn't alarm her. She knew in her soul that this was to be expected.
But why?
Following her primitive mind she made her way out of the cavern in search of something. Perhaps Food? She didn't know. All she knew was that her life had begun and staying around to question everything wouldn't help.
Several weeks later
There was a terrible screech as a small creature ran for its life. Behind it a silver blur was quickly closing the distance. It attempted to confuse its pursuer by quickly changing direction but it was for not. Black claws sliced deep into its hind legs and as it fell over in agony sharp fangs crushed its neck.
The creature known to the wider world as a Drake, quickly tore the corpse apart and consumed its flesh and bones.
Now that is something good. Better than the stuff I used to eat at least.
There was another pause. The drake blinked in confusion as the strange thought was carefully processed. In the back of her mind she could feel something there.
Since she had hatched she could feel something was off. But at the time it was barely noticeable. But as the days passed the presence became more and more noticeable.
She laid down on the stone floor and huffed in annoyance. Even if she could feel the presence of something. It remained far out of her reach.
I'll just have to be patient. Like my wings, it will take time.
Having enough food in her belly to satisfy her for the day. She curled herself into a ball and slept.
It is strange though that I have never actually felt hungry. I just know that I should go too long without food.
Soon after she was in a slumber.
Unknown
There was a thunderous roar. The noise was unlike anything she had ever heard before. It was like a massive creature was stomping on the earth beneath her feet. The rumbling was intense. But she could also hear smaller thunder claps. They were so rapid that she knew she had to bee in a very intense storm.
Suddenly she was grabbed and spun around. Before her was a strange creature that had no scaled to protect itself. It's mouth opened and strange screeches came out.
"Ma'am! Our position is no longer tenable! Heavy enemy fire is suppressing our defensive positions!" The creature with long brown hair and blue eyes screamed the strange noises at her. But then a realization came over her. Looking down she saw that she was standing on two legs. Her body froze when she felt something brush against her neck. Quickly moving her hands up she felt soft hair.
There was another shout from a distance away before a sharp crack made her flight and drop to the ground behind cover.
Cover?
"Ma'am what are your orders?!"
She turned to look at her adjutant.
Huh?
"Get everyone to pull out! The fucking commies will over run us if we stay ant longer!" A voice screamed out from her mouth.
What?
"Look! The bastards are bringing in their tanks!"
Her eyes head turned against her will and her eyes widened when she saw an enormous green monster with a long horn sticking out of its rocky body. It seemed to drag itself along the ground than to use legs. She felt fear. A scaled body that thick would be to hard for her claws to get through.
"We are out of here! Everyone this is 01. Take to the skies and get the hell out of here!"
Suddenly the ground was no longer beneath her feet.
"HQ! This is Lt. Conel Tanya Von Degurechaff! The forward most line has been breached in sector 82. Enemy forces have massively superior fire power and out defenses are unable to effectively fire back."
There was another voice that some how entered her hears but she was too distracted to pay attention. It's not like she could understand the language anyway.
Tanya?
Tanya Von?
Tanya Von Degurechaff?
End
After reading Dragonearth I was inspired. But after reading the Youjo Senki/ Fantasy on spacebattles I had to write this down. Let me know what you think.
